For a "Garden Inn" I was super impressed!! | Read all reviews
The place is super clean, has friendly staff and spacious rooms. The location is perfect- right near all the bars and clubs and restaurants that Ybor City has to offer. The pantry is very good- it stocks tons of beers and snacks - even local brews. The beers were only $2.00 and you can charge them to your room while laying out by the pool. The staff was very nice and gave me a coupon for 2 bottles of water free. I will definitely come back to this place. My friends and I were very impressed that a little Garden Inn could be so nice.

Stayed here for a single night at the end of our stay in Florida. It is located close to the centre of Ybor City and well in walking distance of all the shops and restaurants in the area. It is a two minute walk away from the streetcar (tram) line that runs into downtown Tampa. Rooms were spotless and very well furnished. There is a small pool and hot tub outside with lots of sun beds but the only slightly disappointing thing was the lack of a bar (but you are close to the action in Ybor City). Just got back over Labor Day Weekend, enjoyed our stay. Very Clean Hotel, yet peaceful. Raquel, Dimitra at the front desk, and Theresa in house cleaning where great at all our needs. Its 2 blocks away from ybor, not much to do for me, we knocked ybor out in a day,and decided to rent a car instead for the remaining days, and drove 25 miles to Clearwater Beach, and across to St Petersburg, and shopped around westshore mall, and also a new mall on the other side as well, Get you a rental car for sure, we caught taxi to hotel $ 25.00 but waste of money, get and and see beaches, not much in tampa for me. Also there mini mart behind hotel for snacks, beverages, and fast food joings, but a few decent restaraunts in ybor. Im a very very clean, neat freak, and was impressed, although not much air in hallways or one elevator but who cares. Enjoy! Stayed here with 3 friends to explore Ybor district and check out RedBull Flugtag. Easy access off the highway and just 2-3 blocks from the bars and restaurants of central Ybor, but far enough away that no noise or riff-raff was near the hotel. Everything seemed very new - fridge in room, flat screen TVs in room and lobby, etc. Breakfast served until 11am in the lobby but $10 per person was not great. $9 for overnight parking. Staff was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again. I stayed for one night at the Ybor city location. The weekend was St Patricks weekend. The check-in staff was fun and friendly. The management was very outgoing. The room was excellent. I had a king and it had 2 32 inch LCD tv's. The free high speed internet was a plus. The hotel had free wireless that reached out to their courtyard and to their pool area. The breakfast in the morning was good quality for the small area. The pool had plenty of chairs to lounge by the pool. The location was great, just one block from all the action. The bed was very comforatable. I would recommend this location to others and will stay their again when in the area. I had an outstanding stay at this hotel!!! The rooms were large and pretty nice (the pillows were poor). The high speed internet was great and included. The room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast was overpriced and average. The pool area was great. There is also an outdoor seating patio by the lobby that is very nice. I loved the Ybor location - great restaurants, shopping and a trolley all within blocks. If I were a tourist or a business traveler looking for a place with evening activities that you can walk to - this is the perfect location. The staff were FRIENDLY & HELPFUL - every issue I had was resolved promptly and to my satisfaction. My flight was really late arriving and when I walked in I was just beat - they said you look like you need a beer and gave me a complimentary one. I thought this was too nice. The parking was $6 and felt very safe. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends! A GREAT VALUE!!! Great hotel, it's nice, clean, and modern. The hotel is near the Tampa business district and in the heart of Ybor City. I stay there several times a year. In Tampa for business for a week, and wanted to stay at a place close to restaurants, bars, etc. Ybor City was the ticket. The only knock is that on Friday's and Saturday's the place gets overrun with the young crowd. There's plenty of police around. From a previous review, I didn't feel unsafe at all. The hotel was very good. I usually stay in Holiday Inn/Crowne Plaza's for the points, but one wasn't close that I wanted. One day my air went out and they fixed it promptly, took care of my dry cleaning, held a mailed package for me. Good service and fairly clean. I would definitely stay here again if I was coming to the area. Nothing special here, but this was a clean, relatively updated and overall decent property. Very close walking distance to everything in Ybor City. "Everything" consists primarily of restaurants, clubs, and a smattering of shops and cigar stores. Not really the kind of place to see the "sights" as there is not much else close by. They do have a $9.99 all you can eat, made to order breakfast buffet. Avoid this at all costs! We got leftover fried potatoes, undercooked sausage and so-so eggs (fried were fresh, scrambled were old news) They have a free continental selection which is better. There is a really great restaurant just down & across the street to the right in the bottom of a 2 story mall. It is a big brew pub - they make their own beer on site (name escapes me) but the food AND beer were excellent. Tread with caution when ordering as a lot of the items are enough for 2 people. In any event if you need to stay in this area the Garden Inn value is very good overall. This is a very nice, clean, hotel that maintains the standards I've come to expect from a Hilton Garden Inn. However, travelers should be aware that it is not necessarily the best place for a family vacation. We brought our young kids to Tampa to visit Busch Gardens, figuring we'd take them to the Columbia restaurant in Ybor City the night before. While I never felt unsafe, there were a number of homeless people in the area who seemed to find the hotel's lobby area an attractive place to rest. I went to the lobby early on Sunday morning (5:30) to get some coffee, and a fairly unkempt man with a backpack was sleeping (upright) on the sofa, trying to look as though he was watching TV in front of the fire. This didn't really bother me, as it was cold outside, but I was a little disconcerted by the sight of a large Bowie knife strapped to his leg. Another man who appeared to be homeless and a little strung-out was drinking something amber-colored out of a diet Pepsi bottle. I didn't expect the clerk to throw them out, but I didn't feel inclined to linger on the sofa next to them, either. While I was pouring my coffee (which the nice clerk brewed for me on request), a couple of inebriated transvestites walked in the door looking to buy or bum cigarettes. They were very friendly, but I was still on guard because of the early hour and the fact that the young desk clerk didn't appear to offer me much protection. With that said, the hotel's pool facility was great, as was breakfast the next morning. Rooms are clean and quiet. Staff was pleasant and helpful. As the hotel is so close to a prime nightlife zone , I'd definitely stay here again on another trip -- without the kids. We stayed here because I had to come to Tampa to have surgery. This hotel offered us a discount through my surgeons office. It was a nice hotel. The room was a bit overcrowded with furniture, but other than that very much a Hilton property. We did have to pay for parking, which was not expected. There are not ice machines or vending on the first floor. Those were the only drawbacks. Other than that, everyone was very nice and helpful. We ate at The Columbia our first night and it was a fun experience. I would recommend it even if it was a bit pricey. Good food, fun dancing show! This is a nice hotel located in Ybor City. There are plenty of restaurants/bars within 2 blocks of the hotel. I was somewhat disappointed in the rooms based on the previous reviews. There is no in-room safe and the shower pressure was terrible. I also envisioned the "pavillion" area to be more than two coolers, a few bags of chips, and some nail clippers. The staff was terrific, however, and the free transportation to the downtown hotels where my convention was located was very convenient. I would stay here again. I concur with the review that it's a great hotel in a funky neighborhood. I didn't pay for the lodging; my company did, and it seemed kinda pricey so I might have chosen another place. Also, it may not be the best place to stay if you don't have transportation. But the hotel is very nice, clean, and has a wonderful staff. The HGI is located on the edge of the Ybor City entertainment district (not really my cup of tea; it appeals for to Gen X/Y) with plenty of restaurants of all types, and a BK and McD's are about a five-minute walk. That means you have lots of options for dining, but if you need something from a grocery, department or drug store, you're pretty much out of luck. You'd need to take a taxi to get anywhere for shopping; fortunately for me, one night when things weren't too busy, a staff member took me to a Walgreen's. I can't say enough good things about the staff. They were all courteous and helpful. One night, I took a trolley from the Ybor City entertainment district to the St. Pete Times Forum to see a hockey game. While walking to a trolley stop, the same staff member who gave me a ride to Walgreen's saw me and picked me up so I wouldn't have to wait for a trolley back to Ybor City. If you have to stay for a night or a couple of weeks, and you have the $$$, HGI is terrific. Just make sure you have your car or a rental car. This was a very contemporary feeling hotel in a great location just 2 blocks from the happening Ybor City area. The staff were extremely friendly. Nicely maintained room and public areas but halls & elevator smelled of disinfectant. Overall not too noisy but occasionally bothered by slamming doors during the night. We paid for the hot breakfast buffet ($8.95 pp) and had to pay extra for parking too ($6). Ybor City was fun - the Columbia Restaurant was a neat experience - the food wasn't over the top fantastic, but the attentive staff and flamenco dancer show made it a fun evening. By 1 am on Friday night (with major ball game in town) the streets were a BIT wild for our taste - lots of drunks staggering around, mounted police patrol in the streets and were had a couple of fighting men bump into us on the street - needless to say we hurried to the safety of the hotel at that late hour. Would stay there again. We had a pleasant stay here in Ybor City. My husband was in downtown Tampa on business, and he chose Ybor City so i would have someplace different to hang out during the day. I had never heard of Ybor City, but enjoyed strolling about, soaking up some of the history (cigar factories and immigrant social clubs). The neighborhood is on the cusp of "renewal" -- passing out of the tattoo parlor stage and into the nightclub/restaurant stage. The hotel has pretty standard decor, the beds are very comfortable and the staff is quite friendly and helpful. The pool is nice and very accessible. We very much enjoyed our stay there, and it's central location (you can walk to everything there is to see and do in Ybor City, and take the historic trolley downtown). If you go to Ybor City, i recommend eating at the Columbia -- wonderful Cuban-American food in a historic building. The hotel was nice and modern. We received complimentary continental breakfast and 2 drinks since we are HHonors members. The room was standard....very acceptable but nothing out standing. Great location if you want to check out the Ybor district. This district has so much history but is now more night club and tatoo parlor oriented. We were there on a week night which was slow. Take the trolley to downtown Tampa...it is cheap and fun. Easy access to freeway and airport. Great district to eat and party....hotel had good service and easy parking $6.oo per night This hotel has one major selling point... location, location, location. Situated only steps from Centro Yobr and the rest of Ybor's Historic District this hotel is very easy for people staying in that town. We rode the trolley to Channelside to see the Lightning play and it was just $5. It's an okay hotel with a decent hotel room - the room is very small and made really for business travel. It came with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker and had a great bathroom. It does have a pool and a awesome breakfast selection - $10 all you order... Staff was friendly and very helpful. All around it was a good stay but not the best Hilton I have been to. $9 a day for parking too.

Overall the hotel is great. It is located near 7th avenue where all of the happenin' places are. Cleanliness of hotel was good too. However, I had things stolen from my room by my maid. It seemed like little effort was made to try to solve this problem. A bottle of cologne is not big enough to create a fuss about, but I was still pretty upset at the principle of it and the way it was handled. I am still without an explanation or apology from management. Lock up everything, even if you think it won't get stolen. Who steals a bottle of cologne from your room? Normally I stay at Hilton Garden Inn's when possible--as they are typcally new and have good service. Not here. HH Diamond, was given smallest room possible, very rude check-in person, not a great area to stay at all. Police station down the street (you know what that means), not a good safe place at all. Dirty room and chairs. Again, I can easily take my biz elsewhere and next time I will. Completely disappointed in staff and attitude.
