5 of 5  Great Value- Great Location, Good Deal!, A TripAdvisor Member, Manitoba, May 14, 2009

First time to Maui- my travel agent picked this place for me and I would go back.... Resort is beachfront and walking distance to shops and restaurants.. I did not have an ocean front view- but the mountain view was still great. Condo had a kitchen- great for breakfast and dinners if I choose not to go out. Next time I am in Maui- this is where I would stay!!!!

5 of 5  If you want aloha, or great weather - stay here!, A TripAdvisor Member, Glen Ellen, CA, May 12, 2009

The only oceanfront hotel in Lahaina. The staff is like family and make everyone feel like Ohana. Steps to a quiet beach where you don't have to compete with other high-rise hotels and crowds.  Feels like your own private beach. The  studio apartments are spaceious and include a sitting area, a fully stocked kitchen and a breakfast area.  Not just peek-a-boo views but a whole wall of window to view the ocean (just steps away) or full view of the majestic West Maui Mountains.  There is plenty of lounging space and just a walk to hundreds of shops, restaurants, (famous Feast at Lele, Ios, and Pacificos are on the adjoining property) or the harbor where you can get on just about any excursion there is. Jan/Feb/Mar - sit on your lanai and watch the whales do their thing. Sunrise and sunsets are amazing as you can see three islands - Molokai, Lanai and Kahoolawe from the beach or your lanai. When we were there in February - it was sunny with some nice trade winds and an occasional shower.  Kaanapali and Kihei friends were getting sand blasted and huddling under umbrellas because of torrential wind and rain.  Lahaina is well protected and quite predictable -so you've got a better chance of getting that Hawaiian vaction even in the off season.  If you must do business or stay connected - there is high-speed internet in every room.  We've been going to Lahaina Shores for years. The staff know our name and greet us like family.  Tip of the day - get a cheap raft from the store next door and float with a cocktail at sunset. You can enjoy a wonderful luau while riding the gentle waves.  Aloha!

5 of 5  A idyllic location in old Lahaina, A TripAdvisor Member, UK, April 23, 2009

I wanted to book a place that was a lot different from the resort we had stayed at in Oahu, and this was completely different and so much better. We booked through Lastminute.com and got a good deal I think.

Located just 5 minutes away from the beautiful old town of Lahaina, Lahaina Shores was absolutely perfect. We stayed in Room 101 which is on the ground floor, but still has amazing views of the ocean - even when lying down in bed.

We had a massive living room - with a sofa, coffee table, TV and DVD machine, stereo, a fully equipped kitchen - and by equipped I mean with an electric juicer, smoothie maker, microwave, cool box, coffee maker, hundreds of pans and crockery and an oven. The bathroom was clean and nice and the bedroom had a super-king sized bed, a safe and loads of storage space. We went to Foodland which is a 2 minute drive away to get food supplies. We cooked using the barbeque outside most nights, grilling fish and steak and then eating it on the patio.

What I really liked about this hotel is that just outside our room was a hot tub and a swimming pool and a lovely grass area for lounge chairs. There is a small gate in the hedge which takes you onto the beach which is about 5 metres from your front door. Everything was so relaxed and convenient and after having explored all the other beaches in Maui, we thought ours was the best. You get some amazing sunsets from Lahaina Shores and one night we even caught sight of some humpback whales.

Parking was also $3.50 a day - compared to the $15 - $20 a day you would pay in other car parks, this was ideal.

Every day there is an Expedia representative at the resort to recommend and sell you trips. He was really helpful and we ended up booking a great tour to Hana from him and horseriding with Pony Express around Haleakala Crater.

Lahaina Shores is so much better than staying in Ka'anapali - which is about 10-20 minutes out of Lahaina - where you are constantly surrounded by tourists. In Lahaina

Shores you can easily believe that you are a Hawaiian local and that you could stay there forever. It was very very hard to leave.

5 of 5  Wonderful place to stay near Laihana town, A TripAdvisor Member, Los Angeles, April 3, 2009

We booked this hotel through a vacation package and were uncertain of what to expect. But Laihana Shores turned out to be a great find. It is at the end of Laihana town on a small beach. Easy to walk into town for dinner, shopping or drinks. The room was functional - nothing fancy - but having a kitchen was nice for breakfast and snacks. Laihana is centrally located and we zipped up the coast for better beaches, inland for sites and even down south for a day. You can't go wrong here and we would stay again.

5 of 5  Saved our trip, A TripAdvisor Member, Omaha, April 3, 2009

We had resrved rooms At Ka'anapali Beach hotel but the mold was too much too put up with afterr two days. We were able to find a unit here for the rest of our trip.

Views are AWESOME. Extremely quiet, walking distance to the dock area. No on site food, but several place right next door. Rooms extremely clean, especially compared to KBH. 1/2 the price too! We will be back, thanks

5 of 5  If you want views and beach but not, A TripAdvisor Member, washington state, March 24, 2009

This place was even better than I could have hoped. To have a quiet, lovely, beach-front hotel out one side of the building, and the charm and bustle of Lahaina immediately available out the other was superb. We have a toddler and didn't want to deal with a car (carsick, sandy car seat, etc)--and we were completely content to take out the stroller daily and wander the town, hang at the pool or beach, or just sit on our balcony and enjoy the view and sound of waves and birdsong. It was also a priority to have a kitchen, and it completely delivered with everything we could need. The wall-sized screen door allowing us to sleep with the sound of crashing waves was something out of my fantasies. The staff was wonderful--I even accidentally broke something in my room and they were immediate and professional in their attention and charged me what had to be much less than replacement cost for the item on the island. Definitely get an ocean-side room, you won't regret it!

5 of 5  A quiet, convenient gem close to downtown Lahaina, A TripAdvisor Member, Ann Arbor, Michigan, March 20, 2009

This is an older property that appears to be under renovation a little bit at a time - it was hard to tell as it was discreet. Each unit was individually owned and furnished. The common areas were fresh and clean.

The reception and main open lounge area was warm and inviting with clusters of overstuffed chairs and tables. Unlike many other proprties, the photos don't really capture the place. It felt good to walk in there.

Except for one slightly grouchy person, everyone else went out of their way for us. They treated us like we were their personal guests. Part way through we asked for a room with a larger bed. It was evening and we were asked if we could wait an hour while one was prepared, or if we wanted to wait until then next day, an even nicer one would become available. We opted for the latter. The clerk asked our plans for the next day. We were instructed to 1.When we got up in the morning pack our belongings to prepare for the move to the other room. Don't worry about contents of the refrigerator. 2. Stop at the front desk when we were leaving to tell them we were out. When we returned, we exchanged our keys for the new room. When we got there, everything had been moved, even the food in cupboards and refrigerator.

The hotel is a few minutes walk from downtown Lahaina, just far enough away so you get little of the traffic or noise.

It has few on site amenities (smallish pool and hot tub), but the 505 Front Street complex next door has most of that anyway.

A strange feature was the bank of three elevators. We NEVER had to wait more than 10 seconds for an elevator. Other guests remarked on this too.

The only thing I would pick on was the slight mildew smell in the hallways. This did not get into the rooms though.

HINT: Unless it is really important to you, don't bother paying the extra for "ocean view." The mountain view is quite nice, especially from the upper floors.

5 of 5  Loved it!, A TripAdvisor Member, North Carolina, March 5, 2009

We loved our stay at Lahaina Shores, the unit we stayed in was on the bottom floor, we would walk out our door and be on the beach in 30 steps, the unit was well equiped and had the best veiw, We could walk to resturants ,and do acivities, within walking distance. Unit 103 felt like our home for 7 days. I look forward to going back.

5 of 5  Lovely place., A TripAdvisor Member, Singapore, December 7, 2008

I stayed on 6 floor for 2 nights (27-28 Nov) with mountain view. This resort is almost at the end of the Front street, so is very quiet but near enough to walk to the center of Lahaina where all the shops and restaurents are. Driving around the island from here is very easy as the freeway is just 2 blocks away. The room is spacious with kitchen and is very clean, beach is just meters away.......a beautiful and lovely place.

5 of 5  Lovely in Paradise, A TripAdvisor Member, Castro Valley, CA, November 18, 2008

Excellent for the price. Convenient for walking to shops, restaurants, public transportation, beaches. We did not rent a car as it was not needed for staying in this location. Clean and comfortable with a beautiful view of the ocean from our lanai. Complete kitchenette, nice swimming pool and spa, direct access to beach. We would stay there again.

5 of 5  Check out the Penthouse #706 - Why stay at any other hotel/resort?, A TripAdvisor Member, Detroit, MI, October 29, 2008

We went there on our honeymoon in August 2008, and will definitely be back next time we visit Maui. We island hopped for a few days, a few other hotels (Westin, Sheraton..), and this unit blows them away. The whole resort is very nice and located on the edge of the strip in Lahaina - far enough to be quiet but just a short stroll to all the shops and restaurants. Kaanapali is just a short drive north, resorts and tall buildings, but you can retreat to 1500 sq ft in this penthouse. If you want spa/massage and all the fluff then a megaresort may be for you, but if you want your own amazing condo check this one out. www.vrbo.com/103392 The Penthouse #706 won't disappoint. I have to admit, my wife was a little leary going from internet reviews and direct rental off the owner, but she now knows it was better than even higher priced hotels and the transaction went seamless. Congrats to the owner for a well run unit.

5 of 5  Amazing Penthouse!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Tampa, FL, October 29, 2008

I stayed at Penthouse 706 at Lahaina Shores Beach Resort during my stay in Maui. This Penthouse is one of the mosy beautiful suites I have ever stayed in. It is on the top floor with an excellent view. It is located next door to restaurants, bars, and stores. The decor is amazing of the penthouse is amazing. It is an upscale, modern decor with a full kitchen and a huge balcony. Expected to feel pampered here. See pictures and book a reservation at www.vrbo.com/103392. It is Penthouse 706. You will not be disappointed!

5 of 5  Outstanding Experience at Lahaina Shores Beach Resort, A TripAdvisor Member, Knoxville, October 29, 2008

Tom Meyers has a terrific place at this very nice resort. My wife is very particular about where we stay and it exceeded her expectations. It's beautifully furnished and well maintained. Tom's unit is Penthouse 706. Beautiful views ! We were there in May of 2008 and would definitely return. Tom's website is: www.vrbo.com/103392

5 of 5  Loved the location, A TripAdvisor Member, Southeast NC, October 16, 2008

We spent 12 nights at Lahaina Shores Beach Resort and loved every minute of it! It is not fancy, but it is very comfortable, clean, friendly and convenient to restaurants, shopping and the boat docks. From reading other reviews I learned to ask for a room on a high floor, ocean side. Do not try to save money with a mtn. view or you will be disappointed! We were on the 6th floor with a spectacular view of the sunsets over the neighbor island, boats, surfers, etc. and had an added bonus of being able to hear the luau next door. No, the beach is not great, but great beaches are just 10 min. away. The pool and hot tub were fine. The morning welcome breakfast is not much of a breakfast, but we received lots of helpful info on things to do and did not feel pressured to make a decision right then as we were when we went to the Pleasant Holiday's breakfast. Expedia's prices were also better! We did a lot of things during our time on Maui: played golf, took a van trip to Hana & helicoptered back, snorkeled, drove up to Haleakala, even flew over to the big island to see the volcano but the one thing we enjoyed the most was being able to walk downtown. Parking in Lahaina is limited so it was great not having that hassle! The old town atmosphere of Lahaina is another plus! We were not interested in staying in the big resorts further north with their higher prices, more people and traffic. If we get back to Maui we would do everything the same with the exception of going to the Royal Lahaina luau. There are better ones available and if I had paid attention to the guidebook I bought I would have gone to one of those. I spent a lot of time reading about Maui before we left and would recommend everyone do that. Once you get there you want to get on with your vacation and having a plan makes it more relaxing. Hope we can go back again soon!

5 of 5  Great place!, A TripAdvisor Member, Philadelphia, October 15, 2008

We stayed at the Lahaina Shores for a few nights last week and loved it! The hotel was clean, quiet, staff was very helpful and friendly, and it is a short walk into town. The room was big and I highly recommend the ocean view rooms - the view is beautiful! You have to pay extra for parking, but that is standard in Hawaii and $7 is pretty cheap compared to many other places. I've stayed on Maui before and this is all around the best place I've stayed. It has a full kitchen, which was great because we could throw beer and water in the fridge (we didn't stay long enough to make food, but you can easily eat meals at the hotel). We didn't use the pool or jacuzzi but they looked very nice and clean. And the hotel is on the beach, which is hard to find in Hawaii. We are a young couple on vacation and I think this hotel is perfect for similar parties, but I also think it would be good for families or people who don't want to deal with driving out to dinner every night.

5 of 5  Great Spot!, A TripAdvisor Member, Ontario, September 27, 2008

Really good location in the lovely little beach side town on Maui. Extremely quiet and within a walk of everything in town.

Great way to save some money on going out during your Hawaiian vacation, as each room has a kitchen with has everything you would need to cook or prepare anything!

We made breakfast most mornings, snacks and fruit smoothies on hand, as well as cold pop, juice and beer.

We even made pizza one night with fresh Maui pineapple!

The room was clean, except the rug in spots but it was pretty minor. Linens were fresh, pillows were excellent! The pool/hot tub and lobby were clean! Staff was pleasant and helpful. Right on the beach.

N.B. Parking was extra. If you want to use the hospitality option (a room for an hour to shower before a late flight, after morning check out) let them know upon check out.

5 of 5  Really Nice Place!, A TripAdvisor Member, Huntsville, AL, September 4, 2008

Spent 4 days, Aug. 24-28 here. Loved it. Quiet and serene. Enjoyed the view from Ocean View lanai. Room was good with nice kitchen and bath. Loved the pool and hot tub, but not good beach. Actually went to another area to swim in ocean as the water here was dirty and could not see bottom. I don't swim where I can't see bottom. I would not stay here again for that reason, but other than that it was good and we spent so much time doing other things, that the beach didn't matter that much. Next time I go to Maui, however, I will stay at a resort that has a better beach for swimming.

5 of 5  Heavenly stay at Lahaina Shores...!, A TripAdvisor Member, Edmonton, Alberta, August 20, 2008

We have nothing but good things to say about this facility. We went to Maui for the first time to get married, and while we had heard great things about this hotel, it exceeded our expectations.

We stayed in an oceanfront view on the 6th floor, and the view was breathtaking. Because the beach in front is fairly small, it's not that busy, so it's very peaceful to sit on the balcony and stare out at the ships, listen to the ocean. Everytime we drove back to Lahaina from touring the island, we felt so glad we were "home" because it was so quiet and relaxing there. We found everything was always clean, and we loved the staff, especially Carmen at the front desk. The concierge helped us with anything we needed as well. The pool area was lovely too - you could sit on a lounger under the plumeria trees in the grass, go for a quick swim or walk on the beach and then head for a dip in the pool.

A few other bonuses: You get parking right in front of the hotel (probably a 10 second walk from the lobby compared to those big resorts in Kaanapali etc.), and as has been said in numerous reviews, the most fantastic thing is the location - you can walk up and down Front Street and shop or eat without having to take the car out.

We had a beautiful wedding in Maui, and the Lahaina Shores helped us to have a beautiful honeymoon too. We will be back...!

5 of 5  Great Stay at Lahaina Shores, A TripAdvisor Member, Granbury, Texas, August 19, 2008

Another great stay at the Lahaina Shores. Albeit 33 years after our first.

We booked our room through the hotel website. Look at all the specials and regular offerings. We found it was cheaper to book the regular ocean view rather than any of the specials. This property is undergoing room restoration. So when you book ask for one of the upgraded rooms. As stated before some parking is in the garage next door but easy access and there is parking in the front lot of the hotel. Their are shops and resturants next door and you are within an easy walk to the larger downtown area.

If you have to wait to book extra outings, the first morning you are on site is hosted by an Expedia group that can make reservations for just about anything you want to do on Maui.

A great week. Sad to have to leave.

5 of 5  Very Nice Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Kissimmee, FL, July 26, 2008

The room that we stayed in was very nice: spacious, very nice decor, very clean, the bed is comfortable, fresh sheets and complete with everything you need: stove, sink, big refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The location is minutes away from shopping, grocery, and restaurants and situated along the beach shore (though water was not good to swim during our stay). I highly recommend this place for the quality and price.

5 of 5  LOVE THE LAHAINA SHORES, A TripAdvisor Member, California, June 26, 2008

We first stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon in 2005, and fell in love with this hotel. We stayed at the hotel again in February 2008, and fell in love with it all over again.

The location of this hotel is just outstanding. It is located in Lahaina, and just down the street from the main town. It is also located oceanfront, with fantastic views of the ocean or the mountains, depending on which side of the hotel your room is on. I recommend requesting a room on the third floor or higher, for the great views.

The rooms are either one-bedrooms or studios, with kitchenettes. It's a great way to save a little money, by having coffee in the morning in the room, and buying food at a store nearby, and having meals in the hotel room, overlooking the ocean or the mountains.

The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, for the most part. We did have contact with one staff member who wasn't so friendly, but her co-workers made up for her with their help and enthusiasm.

Bottom line - the location is fantastic, with nearby shopping, the beach, and snorkeling. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the kitchenettes are great to have on vacation. We will always stay here when we visit Maui.

5 of 5  Loved Unit 501 Lahaina Shores Beach Resort.. afraid to let this secret out :), A TripAdvisor Member, Kentucky, June 8, 2008

First and Foremost... We have visited Maui before and stayed at Lahaina Shores Beach Resort. We LOVED the PERFECT Front Street location in Lahaina town, however our room wasn't outstanding. It wasn't terrible by any means, just hadn't been updated since (what looked like) the 70's. At the time, that wasn't a big deal, but for our honeymoon, we wanted something more. After some research, I found a unit at this resort privately rented out through the owner and a company the owner uses to manage their property called "Chase 'N Rainbows".

The unit we rented out THIS time was unit #501. You could look at their website: http://www.lahainasunsets.com/ to see their pics and info, and even though the site I saw above took my breath away, pictures could not do justice to what I witnessed when I opened the door for the first time... not to sound cheesy, but I literally got teary-eyed. It was amazing!

The VIEW from ANY area in the condo was breathtaking. The lanai stretched from the corner of the bedroom alongside the entire wall to the end of the corner of the living area wall. There was a seperate mountain/oceanview lanai alongside the kitchen/eating area. If you opened the sliding glass doors, turned on the fan and closed the screen door, you could hear waves crashing and feel the most amazing ocean breeze. A perfect view of Lana'i was directly facing you.

The bathroom was even great and had the cutest shower area (you can see the photo...won't waste time with bathroom reviews:)..)

The kitchen was fully stocked with anything (besides groceries.. we stopped at Down to Earth in Kahalui immediately after picking up our rental car for FABULOUS "health" food and delicious local produce) we needed to cook with... pots, pans, dishes, paper towels, fridge, freezer, blender, microwave, stove top.....

There was also a TV (like you need that on Maui) and sitting area with a filled bookshelf and desk with IA ($9 /day or $40 per week, i think)

As for the bedroom itself, besides the indescribable view, I am not a good person to rate the comfort of a bed- it was better than most, but my husband is the manager of a mattress store and home is ALWAYS better than away... there was a desk, chair and LOTS of storage space.

Besides our gorgeous home-away-from-home's room itself, the location of Lahaina Shores it more than perfect (unless you like the "convienience" of a resort complex). It is next door to the 505 Front Street Shops that houses 2 of the best restaurants on Maui- I'o and Pacific'o. Also a well-known luau "Feast at Lele" several art galleries, a Whaler's General Store (that got alot of our business during our stay) and several smaller cafes and restaurants that we didn't have a chance to try. The other shops and restaurants along Front Street are a pleasant stroll away. We didn't venture out to other areas for dinner simply because Front Street Lahaina had so much to offer and we didn' teven have to get into our car. You name it, we ate there.... (I will review those seperately) There are so many shops to check out which became a nightly activity- strolling Front Street as well as making a stop at "Scoops" an ice cream shop at the "end" of Front Street that serves Lapperts ice cream-

The Lahaina Harbor is also very close to Lahaina Shores Beach Resort. This is where many of the tours depart from.

If you have any questions, I don't mind to answer them.. we LOVED our 12 day stay in paradise and WHEN (not if) we return, we will again stay in room 501!!!

5 of 5  Home in the Islands, A TripAdvisor Member, Las Vegas, March 15, 2008

Resort lobby is beautiful, the perfect ocean view we had. Whales were right in front of our room 4 days of the 7 days. Room was nice but needs a little touch up, the maids were clean and paid attention to detail. Front desk staff friendly and helpful but I could not understand the middle age women who could not speak english very good. Other than that this resort feels like a home in the islands.

4 of 5  Great location/Great condo, A TripAdvisor Member, Carver, MA, April 23, 2009

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights in April. It is a beautiful spot overlooking the ocean. I would definitely recommend staying on the ocean side. Picture perfect view of palm trees and the ocean. We stayed in condo 313 which we rented directly through the owner. Very nice condo, clean, comfortable bed, nice spot on the 3rd floor. The whole complex was very nice and well maintained. The pool and the hot tub were always being cleaned. It is a short walk to Lahaina town where the restaurants, bars and shops are. Makes it very easy and relaxing not having to worry about driving around finding a restaurant. The only downside when we were there was the noise from the renovations that are going on (which we heard lasts through December). During the day it is very noticeable. Other than that though, I would highly recommend staying here.

4 of 5  Best value and service in Lahaina, A TripAdvisor Member, SF bay area, March 10, 2009

This is the ultimate ohana place to stay. Warm, welcoming and personable, the staff is excellant. The concierge services are local and knowledgable, coupled with Expedia's service which makes the services tailored to my needs. By stopping at Costco on the way home from the airport, we made use of the fully equipped kitchen to save $$ and eat well. This is the only hotel in Lahaina right on the ocean and within walking distance to downtown Front street shops and the harbor. Plus, right next door are several very nice restaurants and shops. Did I mention the views--unobstructed and gorgeous.

4 of 5  Great Value - Great Location, A TripAdvisor Member, Denver, CO, January 30, 2009

I needed a quick getaway from my hectic life so I went alone to Maui and stayed at Lahaina Shores for the second time. It is more of a hotel than a condo even though it has a kitchenette. The rate was unbeatable making it feasable to go to the island for such a quick trip. The bed was so comfortable that I slept like a baby. The location close to shopping, restaurants & other activities was great. I like the big waves and in the summer this location was closer to those beaches than where I usually stay in the winter. Check in and guest services was great - as always. The Lanaii was beautiful. I am a repeat customer.

4 of 5  Much happier than last year, A TripAdvisor Member, Montana, November 13, 2008

Stayed 2 nights at the Lahaina Shores in October 2008. Following a not-so-happy experience at the Lahaina Shores in 2007, we deciided to give it another shot, but only stayed 2 nights in case we encountered similar issues from the previous stay. I am so glad to say that the Lahaina Shores was far better this year than last. We requested an oceanfront, high floor with a king size bed, and got all of our requests. The view from our lanai was nothing short of spectacular. The room was clean and comfortable, although nothing fancy. The studios are not large, so don't expect a lot of space. Enough room for 2. The shower/toilet area is small, but the sink/dressing area helps that out. The lobby is very inviting, and the pool area is attractive, although not very big. Skipped the welcome breakfast in favor of spending more time in Lahaina town. This place is great if you are planning on taking ocean excursions that depart from Lahaina Harbor--the harbor is withing walking distance, and you are all ready parked and therefore do not need to worry about finding a spot in Lahaina Town that has a 3 hour limit, or parking in a pay lot for $15. There is a luau next door--no need to drive anywhere for any other. Their parking charge is $7/nt, and worth it if planning on spending time in Lahaina. Make sure you request the room type you want!

4 of 5  Lahainas Only Beach Resort, A TripAdvisor Member, College Station, Texas, November 13, 2008

Three of us stayed at this property on October 18,19,20,2008. Price per night was $337 including taxes, etc. We stayed in Penthouse PR101 which looked out over the bay/ocean. This was a one bedroom two bathroom condo with kitchen, washer dryer, one LCD TV in the living room and standard TV in the bedroom. Good AC. There was a fold out sofa bed for the third person. This property is old, but well maintained and is clean. No bar or restaurant on the property. The view from the penthouse balcony was outstanding. Parking was $22 for the three nights, but parking is easy access in front of the property. Very small beach and no swimming, but great surfing. This property sits on the beach on the south end of Lihaina (on the west side of the island)a small town with mosty locals and a very nice harbor with shops, etc. There are no super sized resorts in this community which made for a nice slow paced stay. We walked to the harbor using the beach or the sidewalks. Lots of good places to eat in town. It is a 40 minute drive to the airport. We booked direct using www.classicresorts.com site.Great staff. Very good place to stay for the price.

4 of 5  Nice property, great value!, A TripAdvisor Member, Milwaukee, WI, November 5, 2008

We have stayed at Lahaina Shores twice now. We were on a budget, and this place is a great value. It's in a very good location on the water near Lahaina Town, within walking distance to most shops and restaurants. There is a small beach, but I haven't tried swimming there. The property also has a small pool and a nice lawn area overlooking the ocean.

We stayed in mountain view studios both times we were there. The rooms have your basic island-style furnishings, a basic little kitchen and a standard bathroom. These particular units have not been remodeled, but some others on the property may have been if their owners chose to do so. Still, they were clean and comfy! We tend not to hang out inside much when we're visiting Maui, so this place was perfect for us. A beautiful view, a bargain value at $160 per night (parking is an extra $7 per night now), and a convenient location.

4 of 5  Perfect location, A TripAdvisor Member, Washington,DC, November 3, 2008

My husband and I stayed at the Lahaina Shores through a condo unit rental (#321) and we couldn't have been more pleased. You are literally 20 ft. from the ocean and a three minute walk from the center of Lahaina. If you are the type of traveler that prefers resorts and spends most of the day by the pool or at the spa, this property is probably not for you. But if you enjoy being in the center of activity and spend most of your day out and about, this is a perfect spot (particularly for the price). The sunsets were breathtaking!

Unit #321 had been recently renovated and had everything we needed for a three night stay. The hotel staff was friendly and the resort, though older, was well maintained.

As for Lahaina - we enjoyed spending a few nights, but by the third day we were ready to head to another part of Maui. It's basically a manufactured surf town - cute, but a little stale for us. We headed down to Wailea for two nights and were happy we changed it up.

4 of 5  good not fancy, A TripAdvisor Member, Bangor, Maine, October 6, 2008

This property is well-sited on Front Street. Shops and restaurants are a brief walk away. The room's decor is not trendy, but the place is clean and safe. Staff are friendly and the beach/pool area are nice. The internet connection is slow - you'd be better off to use the wired cafe up the street. Renovations are going on in the building above the parking garage, so it is a bit messy but I always felt safe traveling alone. The resort offers a hospitality suite- which you must book in advance- to tidy up in before you fly home. Warning- food in Maui is not cheap- you may not save by doing your own cooking.

4 of 5  Great View and Location, Nice Accomodations, A TripAdvisor Member, Edmonton, Alberta, September 22, 2008

Just returned from our stay in Maui. We stayed our first two nights in room 337 in Lahaina Shores. This was a studio accomodations with a queen size bed. We had an ocean view that was amazing.

The room was adequate for our needs as a couple. Could use a bit of updating but nothing really to complain about room wise. Bed was comfortable and firm. There is a luau right next door so you will hear the drumming until about 9 pm if you stay on the east corner like we did. We did not try the pool and jacuzzi area but it was clean. We liked the convenience of being able to walk to Front Street where all the shops and restaurants are in Lahaina from our hotel. This is a major plus of this hotel. Would recommend this place, although you could probably get a vacation rental for less money per night that would be in Lahaina as well. But this has the convenience of a hotel, even though these are owner condos.

4 of 5  Nice place!, A TripAdvisor Member, frizzboy, September 15, 2008

Stayed in Unit 433. Great views and very clean, well kept room. Close to shops/restaurants on Front St, yet quiet and secluded as well.

Only negative is that the beachfront is not very functional (very limited beach area with sandy/murky water) .

However, for those wishing to enjoy the surf, I would still recommend this resort as it's just a short drive away from other wonderful beaches.

4 of 5  We loved it, A TripAdvisor Member, Houston, August 1, 2008

We were there on our Honeymoon and we loved the Hotel. The staff was also nice and the ocean view from the room spectacular. The room was clean and big (it was a studio), it had a good space with closet and a good size bed. The best part of staying at this Hotel is the location; we walked everyday to the restaurants and stores. We also found this Hotel very safe and we would recommend it to all my friends and relatives. We will definitely go back to Lahaina Shores

4 of 5  Do it all over again,, A TripAdvisor Member, ohio, June 12, 2008

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon, and this place was so peacful that sometimes it seemed like we were the only 2 people there, Everyone was so friendly, they even wanted to take our groceries to our room for us. We booked through our local travel agent and got an excellent deal and was affordable enough to stay 11 days and had rental car, and roundtrip airfare. We went on one of the snorkeling cruises and that was an experience of a life time. I would suggest for anyone to do it. Then we got to see lots and lots of dolphins and sea turtles. It was just wonderful. We had a mountain view room which was fine with me being in Maui and all who could complain of their mountain view with the rainbows all the time. It is great!!!!!!!!

4 of 5  Great hotel for the price, A TripAdvisor Member, SEATTLE, WA, April 27, 2008

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel. We had a corner room 537 on the ocean side. Although we did not spend a lot of time in the room, it was well worth the view. The Lele Luau is held each night right next door and we were able to see it and hear it from both balconys off our room which was nice. The room and decor was very basic. It was nice to have kitchenette to keep drinks cool and snacks. The staff was very tenative and it is keep very clean. It's great that food/shops are in walking distance. I high recommend the restuarants Pacifico and IO right next door.

4 of 5  Enjoyed Lahaina Shores, A TripAdvisor Member, New Orleans, LA, April 24, 2008

My husband and I stayed at Lahaina Shores for a week. We booked through VRBO and got a great deal, especially for Maui. We stayed 4 days in a room with a mountain view. The room wasn't fancy, but had everything we needed for our stay. After a night in Hana, we returned to Lahaina Shores and stayed in a room with an ocean view. It was nice to wake up with a view of the ocean and pool every morning. It was great having a gate from the garden to the beach. When we tired of the beach, the pool and hottub were there to enjoy. In addition, everyone working there was very friendly and made us feel right at home. MK at the expedia desk helped us out tremendously in booking our activities. She knows everything happening on the island and we are greatful for her help.

Lahaina shores was the perfect place for us, right in the middle of town with shops and restaurants a stones throw away. We are already planning a return trip and would definitely stay at Lahaina shores again.

4 of 5  Cozy/Clean Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Vancouver, BC, April 8, 2008

We stayed only 4 days at the Lahaina Shores in a Penthouse on the 4th floor. It was beautiful. Everything was recently renovated and tastefully decorated. It is owned separately from the Hotel so you can only book these rooms from the owner directly through the VRBO or Craiglist. It was beyond our expectations as it was so spacious and clean. The Mountain views were lovely but I still would prefer an ocean view as there was some noise from a local rooster that wouldn't stop all night. I thought they woke up at sunrise but oh no.... not this one. I have a small complaint and one worth knowing...Because these units are independantly owned, the hotel will do nothing for you. If you want a change of linens or need a cot, like we did, you need to pay a company to come and provide these things. I needed extra blankets as it got cooler at night and I had to use towels and put extra clothes on my two kids. Also my kids decided they didn't want to sleep with each other so I needed a cot. I had to use a lounge chair instead. Needless to say the sleeping situation was not fun. The hotel has a neighborhood feel. The guests are mostly return guests who come every year. It's a very warm, cozy hotel and I have to say, we quite enjoyed ithe ambiance. Everyone was friendly. It's also a walk to Lahaina which is great for evening walks. Next door is a fun little restaurant bar that has live music each afternoon. The best and most expensive Luau is also next door that you can actually listen and watch from the hotel beach if you want. We would love to return for a longer stay next time and maybe try an ocean view.

4 of 5  Charming, relaxing place to stay, A TripAdvisor Member, Southampton, UK, April 4, 2008

I stayed here for 4 nights in January and loved it. Coming from the noise and bustle of Waikiki, this hotel was an oasis of calm. If you love big soulless resorts with lots of activities and facilities then this isn't the hotel for you. It's got old fashioned charm and is relatively small. It's only a few minutes walk from the centre of Lahaina with loads of restaurants to choose from and has the beach right outside. The beach itself is quite narrow and probably not the most picturesque in Hawaii but the setting is still lovely. We stayed in the penthouse - was very spacious, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, bedroom and lounge and a lanai stretching all along the front side with a great view over the sea and the neighbouring island. Was a lovely place to relax for a few days.

4 of 5  Great balcony view!, A TripAdvisor Member, Dallas, Texas, March 19, 2008

My husband and I stayed in an ocean view studio at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort and had a pleasant time. Our room had a balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean and palm trees. We'd open the balcony doors in the morning and just listen to the waves - it was so calm and relaxing. We were on a higher floor, so didn't have any issues with noise, as described in some other reviews. Our room had a little kitchenette and was pretty spacious. Parking was extra and the parking garage is a little yucky, but this didn't bother us. We didn't spend much time in the parking garage. The hotel is within walking distance from the shops and restaurants in Lahaina, which was convenient. This is not a luxury hotel, but it's a good value in a great little spot with awesome balcony views!

4 of 5  We loved this hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, France, March 9, 2008

We loved this hotel. It is very well situated in the heart of Lahaina. It is cosy, stylish and very quiet. The rooms are very spacious with a balcony. We had a room with a montain view, which was great.

3 of 5  Great location but the Penthouse Suite was a disappointment, A TripAdvisor Member, Canada, June 19, 2009

The location of the hotel is great. The beach is very nice and the grounds are beautiful. We rented the penthouse suite which proved to be a huge disappointment. Each suite is individually owned so it is up to the owner as to how it is furnished. The suite was large but was very bare bones. The Lanai furniture did not have any padding and there were no loungers, just a few chairs. There were no pictures on the walls and everything was very bare. The towels were low grade. The pull out couch was not anything anyone could sleep on. I did talk to other guests however and they said that there are other penthouse suites that are very nicely done and have lots of extras.

3 of 5  Great Location - Some units are very old and outdated, A TripAdvisor Member, Washington, DC, March 6, 2009

Lahaina Shores location is unbeatable. I loved being able to walk to Lahaina in the morning to get coffee or over to Betty's Cafe right next door for breakfast and ocean views.

If you are not looking to do the beach thing this may be the place for you. Be advised, however, although it is presented as a hotel each unit is individually owned. Our unit was less than appealing with very dirty carpet (difficult when you have small children), musty smell, and an ac unit that seemed to be circulating dirty air. The unit next door to us had recently been renovated with granite countertops, ceramic tile floors, and a tray ceiling. I would definately be sure to ask for a recently remodeled unit. We had a great time out on the front lawn and enjoyed the view, however, I would not stay in the same unit again!

3 of 5  Room review, A TripAdvisor Member, Waikane, Hawaii, February 1, 2009

Ono spot. Individually owned condos - each different. # 635 makai studio is average AT BEST. No need to stay - not recommend. I moved to # 205 (also makai). Mo betta. EZ to bring your vehicle and kayak from O'ahu on SuperFerry ( no need rental) - you can leave kayak on lawn in front of unit ..( outdoor parking $8 per night ). aloha

3 of 5  Not too bad - a roll of the dice, A TripAdvisor Member, Chicago, Illinois, October 6, 2008

Good luck with this one. All of the rooms are different. I reserved 6 non-smoking rooms for 6 nights. When we got there, I found out only 5 of the rooms were non-smoking. No other standard non-smoking rooms were left so I expected the staff to upgrade us to a better non-smoking room . . . they refused. Ergo, 2 people in my group did not sleep well and woke up with headaches because of the smell. They did put the two in a non-smoking standard for the next 5 evenings. My room, the person who made the reservations was adequate at best. I had not a view of the mountains, like the website said I would, but a view of the roof that covers the entryway. Plus, it was right by the washing machines and elevators. You think they would take care of someone who purchased 36 room nights from them like most other places do! Avoid 220 if you can. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience. Very close to Lahaina, convenient parking ($7 a day), luau next door, and great views of sunset. If you have a later flight the day you check out, take advantage of their hospitality rooms. Avoid the free breakfast if you are short on time - concierge goes through a long talk on things they can sell you. 1 and a half hours on Maui for a free lame, non filling breakfast. Some people did not even get to eat because they ran out of food.

3 of 5  Basic Accomadations, A TripAdvisor Member, Balltimore, MD, April 7, 2008

I didn't expect much from Lahaina Shores & I wasn't dissapointed. The condo faciliaty is old, but clean & with freindly staff. The location is great; right on the water & just a few minutes walk to great shops & restuarants. Paying for parking was worth every penny. If you're looking for luxury, this ain't it. It's basic accomadations. What we didn't spend on a ritzy resort, we spent having a lot of fun on Maui.

2 of 5  Good, if you just need a place to stay near Lahaina, A TripAdvisor Member, Anchorage, Alaska, November 26, 2008

We booked penthouse unit 706 through VRBO. Interior is very nice with upscale furniture and the condo was very clean. Just one note of caution: although it is listed as OCEANFRONT on VRBO the condo is on the mountain side of the building facing Front Street. So dispite of what it says on VRBO, you WILL NOT be able to enjoy views of the sunset from your lanai ( the two sunset photos shown there cannot have been taken from the lanai).

Lahaina Shores is in a great location in walking distance to downtown Lahaina. With the tight parking situation in Lahaina, that's a big plus. The beach in front of the building however is narrow at low tide and almost completely disappears at high tide.

So, if you want a nice, clean condo in West Maui this is a good choice. If you want ocean views and a nice beach you need to go somewhere else.

2 of 5  Disappointed, A TripAdvisor Member, Santa Rosa, CA, October 28, 2008

We stayed at this resort 3 times in the 1990's and loved it. Sadly, we stayed there in Aug. of this year, and it really is in need of some serious repairs. We had 2 oceanfront units. The shower head fell off the wall in 1, maintenance said it rusted off and sort of fixed it so it could be used. We had trouble with the door locks in both units. Were told the salt air deterioates them over time. They should fix them. The air conditioner in the living room did not work, in 1 unit. This used to be our favorite resort on Maui.

2 of 5  Very funky 80s hotel with a good view, A TripAdvisor Member, Newport Beach, CA, July 30, 2008

The Lahaina Shores Beach Resort has a great beach front location on Front Street, the main street with shops and restaurants in Lahaina. We were offered an oceanfront room upgrade for an additional $25/nt. when we checked in and I am so glad we did it because the ocean view balcony saved this part of our trip. Our balcony and ocean view was beautiful, but the room was NOT. Rainbow murals, framed cartoon dolphin pictures from the 1980 olympics, cheesy baskets of old fake flowers, a bed that folds out from the wall, worn and wild looking furniture, a dank smell, a LOUD airconditioner, and tons of Hawaiian pictures made our room super funky and uncomfortable. I was happy that we only booked this hotel for only the first three nights of our trip, because we then spent the next 7 days at the Grand Wailea, which was wonderful. The TV at Lahaina Shores was flat screen and quite large. If you do stay at this hotel, get the ocean view- it is more than worth it. If you do not like old, worn, funky hotels, this is not the place for you. It is definitely not a resort, it is more like a motel on the beach.

2 of 5  Hit and miss, A TripAdvisor Member, Long Island, NY, May 28, 2008

Lahaina Shores is a hit-and-miss proposition. I've had good and bad experiences here. In 2007, we stayed at unit 615, which was a beautiful and well-kept oceanfront unit. We absolutely loved it. However, the next year, that unit wasn't available, so we stayed in unit 637, a corner unit. That unit was smaller (we knew it going in), but we figured it had a wraparound lanai, which seemed a bonus. However, that unit hasn't been updated in years -- the cabinets are all crooked and almost falling off. The kitchen utensils were in bad shape. We had to call maintenance twice -- first, the a/c didn't work and also because the closet doors were stuck and we couldn't open them (and in a small unit you definitely need to stash the luggage somewhere). They did fix both the a/c and closet doors. The only saving grace was that this unit overlooks a luau next door, and each night we got a free show. Otherwise, the grounds are well-kept, the condo is very quiet and laid back and very central to Lahaina. However, for our next stay, we'll probably go elsewhere -- that last room turned us off.
