5 of 5  Fantastic, A TripAdvisor Member, Adelaide, September 27, 2008

My husband and I recently stayed one night Sept 18, prior to departing for an early morning flight to Honolulu.

We had been staying in the Englewood area for a few days and decided to stay the night before our early flight at the Tampa Airport Marriott.

This was our second stay at this hotel in the past 6 years and once again we were not disappointed.

We we placed in a lovely king bed room. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated.

The bed was comfy with crisp linen, it was like sleeping on a cloud.

The staff were exceptional, friendly and helpful.

Although it was only one night it was a lovely nights stay, and the super convenience of being only a few minutes walk away from the airline check in counters is super convenient.

Definately will be back the next time we are in Tampa.

International Mall was only a 5 minute cab ride away if you want to get away from the airport for a little retasil therapy or a nice dinner.

5 of 5  Mariott Tampa Airport Luxury accomodations!, A TripAdvisor Member, Cincinnati, August 14, 2008

My friend and I LOVED this hotel. Very convenient for air travelers. Outdoor pool and hot tub. Close to Clearwater Beach. The MOST COMFORTABLE BEDS (memory foam), very clean, great staff assistance, free newspaper in the morning, right INSIDE airport! Access to Ruby Tuesdays, another hotel restaurant in lobby as well. COUNTED TWO STARBUCKS! One is open 24 hours! gift shops, airline kiosks to print out boarding passes at your convenience, anything you could ever need or want can be found here! This was such an amazing treat for us, and we plan to make this a priority for our future travel plans through Tampa! We cannot say enough about Mariott Tampa Airport. This was such a welcome accomodation, that made out trip better and much more relaxing.

5 of 5  Execellent all around, A TripAdvisor Member, Atlanta, July 25, 2008

Great service. Great location. GREAT SERVICE (did I already say that?). You would never think that with all of the hustle and bustle in an airport that a hotel attached to the airport would be so serene. The rooms feel brand new and the beds are wonderful. The restaurant is decent (the brunch buffet is sub-average). Service is where this location shines. From the front desk to room service, they are outstanding.

I've stayed here several times and have never been disappointed.

5 of 5  Excellent, A TripAdvisor Member, new jersey, April 26, 2008

Great service and the room was excellent!! I will stay there again!

5 of 5  Great hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Boston, MA, March 30, 2008

I stayed here for one night before an early morning flight. It's a clean, nice hotel directly connected to the airport. The staff was friendly and the room was spotless.

5 of 5  Best thing about our travel disruption, A TripAdvisor Member, Edmond, OK, March 23, 2008

After a one week Sanibel, Fl vacation, my daughter and I were looking forward to flying out of Fort Myers, Fl to our home. An Easter week snowstorm in Chicago canceled one flight and we scrambled to get rebooked out of Tampa the following day. This hotel calmed our nerves and made us feel pampered.

The bellman went above and beyond and advised us on restaurants, gave us a coupon for one free night of internet service and a discount on a meal at the hotel restaurant (which we did not use). We opted for room service, which delivered delicious, well-priced, and healthy food to our room. We watched the sunset from our room and enjoyed a quiet night's sleep before awakening for a 6 AM flight.

In the morning another bellman deliveried our bags to the American ticket counter and advised us (at 3:45 AM) to bypass the line of customers waiting for the ticket counter to open and stand near a self-service kiosk that had no line. He said, "at 4 AM all self-service kiosks will be opened and you can get your luggage tagged; you can wait in the formed line, but it will be like following lemmings off a cliff." This tip turned out to be correct and we quickly checked bags as soon as the counter opened. We were the first travelers through security and the first to get our Starbucks fix in the airside terminal.

Outstanding service was provided by all staff we encountered and the room was very clean, pleasant and comfortable. Nice job!

5 of 5  Great Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, New York, February 28, 2008

If this hotel only ranks #7 in Tampa, I can’t even imagine what #1-6 are like.

We chose this hotel because, on our departure date, we had an early flight and wanted to make things as easy as possible. The hotel, as others have noted, is connected to the airport by a shopping concourse (Level 3 – Tram Level). It makes for an easy arrival and departure, especially if you do not have checked baggage. There are computers in the hotel lobby that directly connect to most airlines websites so that you can print-out your boarding pass...a nice touch and a real time saver.

We arrived mid-morning and our room was waiting for us. At check-in they confirmed my preferences (which were already in the room) and then called up about 10 minutes later to make sure that the room was satisfactory. They also let us know that the fridge that we asked for would be there shortly (which it was).

I’m not a fan of room service but, for a variety of reasons, we used it. The food was good, reasonably priced, and of a high quality. It was also delivered exactly when promised...and with a smile.

The room was spacious, the bed a delight, the closets adequate (including an iron and ironing board). The bath had a curved. shower bar, which made the bath seem far more spacious (a nice touch). Also, although our room overlooked a runway (hey, its in the middle of the airport), it was incredibly quiet.

When we checked-out, we knew that we might be facing travel disruptions (which, in fact happened). They gladly held onto our room for us, should we need it (which we did). They also were wonderful with our daughter, giving her toys and entertainment both when we checked-in and when we reclaimed our room.

The only thing that could have been better was a water leak in the ceiling that left it cracked and discolored.

5 of 5  Fab location and great sevice!, A TripAdvisor Member, Scotland, August 20, 2007

We stayed at this hotel for one night after a 9-hour flight from London. We had a three hour drive the next day so we needed a good nights sleep!

The loation coudnt be better and it's so easy to find! The interior is stylish and the rooms are very comfy!

Great staff, very friendly-our cases had been lost so the girl on reception ofered us the essentials such as deodrant and toothpaste.

We arrived about 6pm and were tired so we just got a pizza from pizza hut and took it back up but there is a restraunt and plenty take-out in the airport it self! Car hire companies are also to get to from hotel- not a 2-mile trek out of airport!

Overall, great hoel to catch 40-winks after a long flight !

5 of 5  So Convenient!, A TripAdvisor Member, Fort Myers, FL, July 10, 2007

We stayed at the Marriott before and after our trip to Europe. We wanted to stay somewhere close to the airport so we didn't have to rush to our flight and we wanted somewhere close so we could just relax after our flight before driving the 2 hours home. This was a great choice because it was so convenient. The hotel opens directly onto the airport's main ticket area. This was so nice because we didn't even have to cart our luggage with us... the porter from the hotel took it from our rooms and walked with us to the ticket counter. Plus, there is a TGI Fridays right outside the hotel in the airport lobby that was easily accessible for a quick dinner.

The staff was extremely helpful and courteous.

The rooms were great - very comfortble and quiet. Even though we were right next to the airport, you couldn't hear the plans taking off or landing. Although the view is not wonderful.. it's of the landing strips.

This is a great hotel to stay at if you are traveling and don't want to leave the airport. I highly recommend this hotel.

5 of 5  A strive for excellence in everything they do., A TripAdvisor Member, CT, February 8, 2007

If you get the chance; STAY HERE! I keep looking for reasons to return to Tampa just to sleep there. These people strive for excellence in everything they do and it shows. Don't miss the wonderful restaurant upstairs and breakfast below. The chef even came out to ask how everything was. The luxurious beds are divine. I rarely go out of my way to write a review, but this place deserves it. Oh, and of course there's the airport convenience. Any closer and you'd be sleeping at the gate terminal.

5 of 5  Great hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, atlanta, January 10, 2007

I have stayed at this hotel on approximately 10 different occasions and have had nothing but great experiences there. The beds are great and the rooms are nice. Access to the airport is extremely convenient. The only thing that amazes me is that the more expensive hotels (not just Marriott) still charge for internet access. I stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott 2 weeks later (for half the price of this hotel) and had free wireless internet. Overall, a great hotel though. I will be staying there again.

5 of 5  Truly Amazing and Out of This World, A TripAdvisor Member, USA, December 26, 2006

My family of five just returned from a quick three-day getaway to Tampa and we stayed at the Tampa Airport Marriott hotel. Having stayed at many hotels (mostly Marriott and Hilton brands) throughout the USA, I would have to say that the service we received and experienced here was absolutely magnificent and incredible. The person who made it all possible was Pablo Rullan, who went way above the call of duty to accommodate us.

We were originally upgraded, thanks to Pablo, to a very nice suite (due to my platinum Marriott status) with a king-sized bed and a pull-out sofa bed. However, thinking we were going to have two queen-sized beds, I returned to the front lobby area and mentioned this to Pablo. He accompanied me back upstairs to the suite and then went next door to see if it was empty. To make a long story short, he gave us the next room, with two double-beds, in order to take care of my request for additional beds.

Needless to say, my two teenage daughters were ecstatic that they got to have their own room, while my wife and I with our teenage son shared the suite. In addition, given that the concierge level was closed for the holidays, Pablo generously gave us coupons for appetizers and drinks. I ordered two coconut shrimp appetizers, and they were out of this world. Still have two drink coupons left and a coupon for The View at CK's restaurant...

One of the nights I ordered room service for my wife, who is very picky about hotel food, and she absolutely loved it. The breakfast buffet was truly superb, with cook to order omelettes and perhaps the most variety of fruits (including blueberries!) I have ever seen. The Jamaican waiter at breakfast was outstanding and very entertaining.

Finally, we had two cars parked at the hotel, which Pablo once again took care of.

All in all, a very wonderful and memorable stay, all thanks to Pablo.

5 of 5  Suprisingly nice!, A TripAdvisor Member, Missouri, December 2, 2006

You can't ask for an easier-to-get-to hotel - you just walk right in off the airport main lobby. I was there just one night for business. The room was comfortable and relaxing. The view looked out at the airport runways but thick glass blocked out just about all airplane noise. No trouble watching TV and falling asleep.

There's a small fitness room on the lower level, and I was able to work out while watching TV there for about an hour by myself. There were a few cardio and weight machines along with a water cooler and a basket of oranges.

The hotel had a restaurant and bar in the lobby, and Internet access was free in the lobby (have to pay in the rooms). I decided to eat at TGIF in the airport at an "outdoor" table, as there's also free wireless in the airport lobby. So I was able to eat a leisurely dinner while getting some work done on my laptop.

Highly recommended if you're flying into Tampa and want to go straight to a hotel.

5 of 5  Incredible service with decent rooms, A TripAdvisor Member, Orlando, Florida, August 22, 2006

My business partner and I stayed at this hotel recently for a conference, and we had a great time because the hotel was very nice and incredibly friendly.

The conference areas are fantastic...very clean and styled nicely. Their conference rooms were far better than any rooms where I had attended conferences before.

The hotel rooms are small, but nice, with great views of the airport. The first room of ours was an "airport view" which viewed the very end of both runways. The second room was a "pool view" which overlooked the pool and one of the runways. I liked the second one better because you could see half of the airport and an entire runway to watch planes take off and land.

The bed is fantastic, and thankfully they have updated their bed since their hotel website photos. The beds have white down duvets and down pillows...and it's very comfortable.

The bathroom is small, but I thought functional. My business partner, a female, thought it was too small. The showerhead is a rainshower type, which is just a matter of preference. I prefer a shower head with better pressure, but it was still fine.

The windows are double paned and block most of the noise. It blocked all noise in the airport view, and blocked almost all of it in the pool view room (except when a large plane was taking off).

The service is incredible. Everyone is incredibly nice and bends over backwards to make sure you are comfortable. The person at the hotel check-in pulled out a map of the hotel rooms to make sure we got the best room selection. The waitress at the lounge pulled up a chair and talked with us some. The chef at the restaurant came out to our table and joked around with us. It's the most friendly hotel I've ever visited.

The food quality is also fantastic. All of the three hotel restaurants were reasonably priced and had very good food.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, and if I need to stay overnight in Tampa again, I would likely check into this hotel even if I wasn't using the airport.

5 of 5  Very quiet, clean and luxurious hotel rooms on concierge floor., A TripAdvisor Member, Atlanta, May 8, 2006

There was a charge to internet and cable channels were limited.

Very quiet, clean and luxurious hotel rooms on concierge floor.

Tampa Marriott airport was a very nice airport hotel. There was no noise from the airport. Location by airport was ~15 mins from Tampa attractions.

Very quiet, clean and luxurious (plush comforters and pillows, nice robes, good furniture,...) hotel rooms on concierge floor. Staff worked with us on special requests.

Got this hotel for $80 on Priceline (retails for $200)

5 of 5  An Airport Oasis, A TripAdvisor Member, Boston, April 25, 2006

After being mishandled by an airline because of a flight delay, and then sent to a flea bag, the Best Western Westshore, which I left after about 5 minutes, I was thrilled to sink into the comfy, cloud-like beds at the Marriott. The staff was efficient, and just friendly enough. The air was clean and lacked the standard, sticky, humidity of Tampa. Rooms were spotless with nice bathroom amenities, attractive furnishings, and plenty of room. After the bunglings of the airline, the efficiency of the check-in was a huge relief. Loved every minute of my 7 hour stay.

5 of 5  Elegant and practical at the same time, A TripAdvisor Member, Tallahassee, Florida, April 25, 2006

The Marriott at Tampa airport has well appointed furnishings and atmosphere. The linens were luxurious and elegant. Other than the fabulous atmosphere, furnishings, linens and staff, this Marriott is extremely practical. If you want to avoid the hassle of driving to the airport for an early morning flight, this is the place to stay. I was concerned at first that it would be noisy due to the take-offs and landings of the jets, however due to the triple paned windows you could not hear any of the jet noise unless you went outside to the pool or hot tub. There are several restaurants and shops right out the front door of the lobby and an ATM and bank as well. This makes it convenient for meals if you don't want to drive through Tampa to find someplace to eat. One piece of advice however...don't put your room key card next to your cell phone. The phone will demagnetize the card and you will have to go to the front desk to get a new one. This could be a real problem if you left your identification in the room!

5 of 5  Convenient and wonderful place to stay!, A TripAdvisor Member, Greendale, WI, March 6, 2006

We were on our way to a Disney Cruise and flew into Tampa, FL to visit friends on the way. The Marriott Hotel in Tampa Airport is so convenient, they even e-mailed us to tell us how to contact the bellhop and have him meet us at the luggage pick-up! He was very helpful and gave us great service. Putting up with a 4.5 yr old and an older child, plus four tired adults! He gave us wonderful information on the area and hotel. The rooms were great, wonderful beds and a good nights sleep. Would stay there anytime!

The young lady in the VIP lounge on the Conceige floor was so helpful and went out of her way to accomodate us.

5 of 5  Comfortable, Affordable, CONVENIENT, Luxorious, A TripAdvisor Member, New Jersey, September 4, 2005

This hotel is the best airport hotel I have ever stayed in. I always stay here before taking the next early morning flight out. It is literly in the airport terminal. From the hotel lobby you can walk into the main airport area in fifteen seconds. The rooms are nice and comfortable, one king, or two queens for the basic. The beds are basically big pillows, and it's literly like sleeping on a cloud. The hotel also offers an out door pool, which smells like jet fuel, but it also has some nice restaurants. In the halway between the main terminal area and hotel there are game rooms, gift shops, etc. For a cheap dining option there's a TGI seconds away. Tampa airport also has great retail, therefore if your staying at the hotel shopping can be used for a main source of entertainment. The hotel is sparkeling clean, roomy, affordable, and luxorious. Feel free to wake up fourty minutes before your flight, check in the night before, and walk straight to the airside connector, and be at your gate in less than five minutes.

5 of 5  Great Place and very Convenience, A TripAdvisor Member, virginia, June 25, 2005

We was going on a cruise out of Tampa and found the Marriott very convenience. Our flight got in around 2:00 p.m. and the staff let us check in early, and that was a big plus. The staff was very helpful, the room was very comfortable and clean. We got the daily paper right out side the door when we woke up the next morning. Every thing was really great, and I would sure stay there again. VERY CONVENIENCE and a GREAT PRICE.

5 of 5  Can't beat airport location if flying into Tampa, A TripAdvisor Member, San Antonio, June 9, 2005

We found a good internet rate for the Marriot Tampa Hotel that made it worth staying there for the night as we had a fairly late arriving flight into Tampa. It is really nice to just wheel luggage across the airport and up an elevator then into a very nice place. It was quiet, had a gym we used and was comfortable. The list price is too high for me...but at a good internet rate it was not much higher than say a La Quinta that we would have had to take a shuttle to. Upon check out a bell boy took our stuff to the car rental and off we went on the rest of our trip. Can't beat the convenience.

5 of 5  Brief Overnight Stay for an Early Flight, A TripAdvisor Member, Ocala, Florida, May 24, 2005

Booked online via Marriott website to take advantage of Rewards program.

I live 1 and 1/2 hours from Tampa and had a very early morning flight. Arrived at 8:00 p.m and parked via the valet.

Check-in process was efficient and friendly. Was upgraded to a Concierge Level room. Took advantage of the beverage bar and late evening snacks. The Concierge room closed at 9:00 p.m.

The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. No noise issues from the airport.

Did not have opportunity to eat the free breakfast that began at 6:30 a.m. due to flight time issues.

Returned two days later to retreive my vehicle from the valet. I was charged $12.00 for the first night on my bill and an additional $24.00 by the valet for the next two nights. Definitely convenient, but not free.

5 of 5  Convienient location, nice hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, New Jersey, May 16, 2005

We had a red eye flight into Tempa. It was great to arrive at 12:30 am and checked into the hotel half a hour later without going out of the airport!

Although the hotel is right at the airport, you can not hear the noise at all.

We got upgraded to concerge level. The room was very nice and staff very friendly. The breakfast buffet that included in our room rate was nice too. We will definitely stay there next time.

5 of 5  Only 1 Issue with This Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, March 18, 2005

My husband and I loved this hotel. The place was perfect in all regards, except for the location of the pool. Another reviewer stated that it was out in the open for all the voyers to watch you and they are correct. It is right outside the bar area and has full windows for those who are sitting at the bar to watch people swim and sunbathe. Also, you can see all the people at the pool if you are at the lobby. I wouldn't feel comfortable using the pool knowing all the people sitting at the bar are there gawking at you. That said, this isn't the type of hotel to just go to to relax by the pool. A hotel near the beach would be better. But, for proximity to the airport, it can't be beat and was clean and comfortable.

5 of 5  Couldn't have been better!, A TripAdvisor Member, U.S.A, January 2, 2005

As frequent travelers and die-hard tripadvisor users, my husband and I are reluctant to give 5 stars to any hotel. Does any hotel actually deserve that high of a score? The Marriott Tampa Airport does! This hotel had one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. The front desk staff were wonderful. The lady that helped us (I wish I remembered her name) was so nice. When we approached the desk and gave her our names, she immediately pulled up our information and ran it by us to be sure it was correct. She said, "You reserved a King, non-smoking room?" Since our room was listed exactly as we requested I took a shot in the dark and asked if there was any way we could have a room overlooking the runway, so we could watch the planes. So, she pulls out a map of the hotel and studies it to find us the best room! I was so impressed! When we got to our room, I pulled back the curtain and we were looking right at a section of gates that planes were pulling up to. They were no more than 15 yards from our window! Plus, we could see them taking off and landing on a side runway. Amazingly enough, there was little or no noise from the planes. But, since we live very close to Washington Dulles Airport, we welcomed the jet sounds as the reminded us of home. We got a fantasic nights sleep and even wandered the airport a bit before bed. The hotel is literally IN the airport, not next door to it. It was so convenient for our morning flight. The Tampa airport itself is very well laid out. One of the easiest airports we have ever used and we have used a lot of them! I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

5 of 5  Highly recomended!, A TripAdvisor Member, Exeter, New Hampshire, November 22, 2004

Perfect hotel for those who have an early AM flight! They will pick up your luggage and walk it right to the airline terminal for you.

Rooms were very well appointed. The beds were super comfortable! The staff was ecellent and very helpful.

Highly recomended!!

5 of 5  great hotel,great service, A TripAdvisor Member, LasVegas, NV, August 1, 2004

7/23/04 Great hotel, great service. Super convenient. We left a bag behind, they held it until we retrieved it (they would have shipped it but we couldn't wait). On our return flight out of Tampa one week later, the Marriott staff was willing to hold our 8 bags free of charge until our flight 7 hours later, bellhop took our bags to airline check-in, all free of charge (of course we tipped). Highly recommend this hotel - nice room, we even got a free movie!!!

5 of 5  Great Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, UK, July 27, 2004

Stayed here overnight awaiting a connecting flight, great rooms with the most comfortable bed and pillows ever. Very convenient as situated within terminal. Swimming pool closed for renovation for next few months but they will transport you to local hotel with pool if required

5 of 5  Pleasant Surprise!, A TripAdvisor Member, san diego, ca, June 22, 2004

I would not have expected such a great property at an airport but I just got back from a 10-day vacation and started at this airport Marriott in Tampa. It had the very best bed I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in especially after flying all day and getting in at midnite. What a surprising treat. Stayed at a Deluxe resort at Disney World's Beach Resort the next few days for double the price and this Airport facility made the Disney hotel seem like a dump.

5 of 5  concierge level is lovely, A TripAdvisor Member, April 13, 2004

My daughter and I stayed here before an early morning flight. The concierge lounge on the 6th floor was a peaceful oasis to enjoy a glass of wine, nibble on complimentary h'ors doeuvres and enjoy the view. The queen size beds were incredible. And I was able to return my rental car a day early and stroll back to the hotel. Concierge level is perfect for women traveling alone.

5 of 5  Perfect!, A TripAdvisor Member, Hamilton, Canada, April 11, 2004

If you are flying out of Tampa early in the morning and need to stay near the airport, pay the extra and stay here. Whether you choose to walk down from the front lobby to the restaurants in the airpoprt terminal the night before, (no driving here), or the convenience of having the bellman walk you to the expess check in of your airline with your bags AND help a first time user with the process, you cannot beat it! The staff is first rate and I never heard a plane all night. More money, no question. More convenience anywhere else? Impossible!

5 of 5  Tranquility at the airport!, A TripAdvisor Member, Manchester - UK, February 1, 2004

We stayed here before flying back to the UK and it was a gem! The rooms were typical Marriott standard - which is always excellent. The staff friendly and very willing to help. The beds were SO COMFY, a real chance to relax before the long flight home. Give it a go - you won't be dissapointed!

4 of 5  TAMPA AIRPORT = NO DELAYS, A TripAdvisor Member, Brooklyn - NYC, June 10, 2008

This hotel is great if you can get a good price. As one of the previous reviewers said his room was $360/night. This hotel should not be that much.

I, on the other hand, had a nice rate of $169/night for the concierge lounge which upon check in found out was closed on the weekends?! The woman checking me in gave me a coupon for a free coffee in the morning because the lounge was closed and I was Marriott Reward Member. A coupon for a free breakfast would have been appreciated.

The hotel is literally right at the airport. My flight the next morning was a breeze to get to being I had a less than 5 minute walk to the check in counter.

The View restaurant on top of the Marriott was truly great. I had really good quality sushi and the the wine list was impressive too. Very nice experience there and my waiter was wonderful. Very good service - and way better than the room service I was thinking of ordering.

The actual rooms are average, nothing fancy, and for one night it was okay. I just wish Marriotts would all get the flat screen tv's, Ipod docking stations, etc. Several have these features and a lot still don't.

The gym was well above average. Individual tv with earphones that actually worked, the gym was cool, plenty of new equipment and a variety of machines to use. Very nice gym.

4 of 5  Convenient with good food for weary travelers, A TripAdvisor Member, Boston, May 17, 2008

This hotel had two main features that made it stand out against other hotel airports. 1) NO SHUTTLE BUS! It is connected to the main Tampa terminal on level 3. You walk straight from the terminal shops into the lobby of the hotel. 2) The food was above Marriot standard faire. The room service menu includes sushi from rotating "The View" restaurant on the top floor. Fabulous sushi? No, but decent and very welcome from the usual. The breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent and included all the usual plus items like smoked salmon with capers.

A few tips:

- Book the "business boost" rate if booking through Marriot's site directly and you get unlimited wireless internet, long distance domestic calls, bottled water in the room and free breakfast. It cost in total about 30 bucks more than the standard room rate and was well worth it.

-Hopefully you don't encounter this but my room did have a door handle issue. When I first arrived I couldn't get the door open. The key went in, the light turned green but the handle wouldn't budge. According to the engineer who came to help a few of the rooms had the handles installed upsidedown. You need to pull UP on the lever handle of the door. Now, had I not been sleep and food deprived I probably could have figured this one out myself but given that it's an airport hotel and most folks will be in the same state as me I figured I would share this little tip.

-The only pool/hot tub is outside on the lobby level. Now while the hotel is convenient; having a pool outside that is nearly in the terminal is not so much fun. Think really loud and nearly choking jet fumes. Not a big deal since this is a hotel that's not meant for anything except getting you on to your next destination.

-There is no gift shop in the lobby should you forget your razor or toothepaste. Just outside the lobby, in the terminal, is a news shop that sells all you will need.

-There is a lot of road construction around the airport and if you happen to be directionally challenged like me a nav is a good idea.

Happy Travels!

4 of 5  Convenient and Comfortable, A TripAdvisor Member, Tallahassee, Florida, July 8, 2007

We stayed one night at the Tampa Airport Marriott as the starting point for a long vacation out west. I would highly recommend the hotel as being very convenient if you are flying in or out of Tampa as the airport is connected to the hotel. It was comfortable and quiet despite being in the middle of the airport. While we had minimal contact with the staff due to the short nature of our stay, the staff we dealt with were friendly and professional. The bell staff will take your luggage to the ticketing desk of your departing airline. We did not use this service as we had manageable luggage, but it could be helpful to others.

4 of 5  Great Location, Nice Rooms, A TripAdvisor Member, Gainesville, Fl, July 6, 2007

Stayed at the Marriott Tampa Airport the night before a morning flight to Boston with wife and two sons, 9 & 7. The hotel is literally in the airport. It doesn't get any easier than this if you have a morning flight to catch. The room was comfortable and clean. Hotel provided a rollaway at no charge. The pool is small, but was perfect for a couple hours of fun for my two sons. Watching the planes take off over the nearby parking garage was unique. Would definitely stay here again.

Also, If going on vacation for a week or more try looking into renting a car one-way from your town to the airport and then booking one for when you return. We found it to be cheaper than the parking garages at the airport.

4 of 5  Great even if your NOT flying!, A TripAdvisor Member, Savannah, GA, April 16, 2006

We stayed here 5 nights after getting a super deal at Priceline.

The room was somewhat small but that would be the only downside. The accomodations were so comfortable and the location so convenient, even for those who didn't fly in. With easy access to the airport restaurants (BK, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut) it was great for our kids (2 1/2 and 9). Close to International Plaza Mall and the dining there also.

We did not eat at any of the hotel restaurants.

The pool was lovely, though there was noise from the airport construction.

The hotel is amazingly quiet...you could barely hear the planes, construction, or your "neighbors" while in your room.

My favorite part was the fitness room with top of the line equipment. Excellent!

So even if your NOT flying in...try the Tampa Airport Marriott!

4 of 5  Extremely convenient, clean, and comfortable, A TripAdvisor Member, Washington, DC, February 21, 2006

I recently stayed at the Marriott Tampa Airport on a quick trip to the Tampa area. My return flight was rather early in the morning, so I searched for a hotel near the airport. If you can get a discounted rate, this hotel is great (I believe the rack rates to be a bit high). The hotel is not new, but most areas appear to have been recently remodeled. We were able to check in over two hours early (even though the hotel had been full the previous night), and parking is free while you are a hotel guest. The staff was helpful and friendly, and our room was very clean and comfortable, if a bit small. I was surprised at how little we noticed the noise from the airplanes. The hotel opens up into the airport, so several fast food restaurants, a couple of full-service restaurants, and a Starbucks are all a short walk away. The ticketing area of the airport is very close, too; we were through security less than 15 minutes after checking out of our room. For an early flight out, this hotel is a great choice.

4 of 5  Convenient as Heck, A TripAdvisor Member, Treasure Island, Florida, December 2, 2005

This is a well worth it place to stay if you have an early flight out of TIA.

The hotel itself is a little worn and dated, but for the price I paid- $95- you can't beat it for sheer convenience.

The rooms are standard for a Marriott- very comfy. The view of, well, the airport is actually very comforting for somebody afraid of missing a flight. The pool deck, with full view of the airport itself, is interesting; pool is heated but nothing special.

The rooftop rotating resturaunt, CK's, is pleasant and first class. I only had a drink here and it was half empty, but I was reasonably impressed.

The one thing that absolutely cannot be beat, however, is the fact that from your room to any boarding gate in TIA is only a pleasant 10-15 minutes walk away, depending on the security. No cars, no vans, no nonsense.

I believe the hotel allows a day or two of free parking if you stay there.

This hotel is strongly recommended for those seeking to avoid the barbarity of early flights and airport travel hassles.

4 of 5  Good deal for a government rate, A TripAdvisor Member, bloomington, MN, November 28, 2005

Stayed at the Tampa Marriott Hotel several times recently on quick business trips. The standard $139 internet and rack rate is a little steep compared to nearby airport hotels, but if you qualify for the federal/state/local government rate and reserve in advance, it will be about $93 and a better deal overall than the nearby airport hotels for a quality room. They do check government ID's. Sometimes AAA and AARP rates are comparable --- check the Marriott website.

Beds are great, very clean, friendly and helpful staff. Being able to take a two minute indooor walk from the airport to the hotel is a big advantage compared to other hotels' shuttles. Quadruple pane windows eliminate airport noise (and I am noise sensitive). You will occasionally hear your neighbors' plumbing --- the flush assist toilets are noisy, but that was a minor flaw.

The breakfast buffet at $15 looked great, but you can eat well 30 yards away at one of the airport restaurants for a third less. The revolving restaurant on the roof is good for a drink, but its hours are limited.

Free parking while you are a hotel guest is a good deal.

4 of 5  Can't Go Wrong with Tampa Marriott Airport, A TripAdvisor Member, November 18, 2005

This is an excellent hotel. It's really nice for early or late flights. It doesn't even seem like an airport hotel. The hotel must have unbelievable soundproofing because you don't hear airplanes..meaning that you also don't hear any other guests. No doors closing, no hallway sounds. It's just so quite. They are using the newer Marriott rooms, nice and clean looking. There's a nice coffee bar in lobby, and if it happens to be closed, it's a close walk into airport terminal to Starbucks. Hotel has one general restaurant (Elsies, I believe) where we had breakfast each morning. Food and service were excellent. We had dinner one evening at CKs on top of hotel. It's a 70's style revolving restaurant, but has up-to-date menu and decor. Pool area is kind of small but we had some nice times lounging by pool. Service was absolutely the best at this hotel.

4 of 5  great place to stay, A TripAdvisor Member, florida, October 3, 2005

as always - the marriot never disappoints. we live 1 1/2 hours from tampa airport & having an early AM flight means leaving home at 3AM OR - an over nite stay at the marriott.

our last trip, we chose to do an overnite stay & head out to the airport. you can't get any easier than this!

first nite parking is free - & then it's $18 per day. Room was comfortable & quiet. Staff very accomodating.

Our great surprise was that the revolving restaurant now offers terrific sushi! A wonderful wine selection - fresh sushi & artfully presented - all atop a revolving restaurant in Tampa with terrific views.

Returning to our car, with our luggage was simple, easy & something we will do again!

My only comment would be that the hotel would offer free internet service to their customers.

4 of 5  Very Convenient, A TripAdvisor Member, Firestone, Colorado, April 29, 2005

This was a unique experience staying at an airport hotel. The hotel has average size rooms and bathroom, clean and very very comfortable bed and pillows. Nice view of airplanes coming and going. Quite inside the rooms. Very nice desk area. They have free parking for guests. Rental cars are right there for you to walk into the airport and get, just seconds to turn the car back in, very convenient. . Kind of a small pool next to the bar area. But we enjoyed sitting next to the pool in the evening (not swimming) Did not eat at the hotel so no review to offer but did eat at both of the restaurants just out side of the hotel in the airport (one of them gives you a $5.00 off coupon for next visit so went to that one twice) They were pretty good. Service at the hotel was very good, eager to help, no trouble at check in or check out. Did have one problem with a charge on a water we did not use but they promptly removed charge. All and All a good experience, would recommend.

If you want to avoid the rush to the airport and the uncertainties of connections, then do stay in the airport at the Marriott. It's expensive - but a good reduction for seniors 62 and older. The rooms are somewhat faded and dated, but well maintained. It's remarkably quiet, even on the runway side where the action is. Revolving restaurant on the roof is worth a visit even if you aren't staying in the hotel. Well equipped exercise room. The pool is exposed for all the voyeurs in the hotel. No easy access to anything outside the airport so be prepared to stay. Late check-out time of 1pm handy for travellers. This was out third stay here and would do so again.

4 of 5  Good Location, A TripAdvisor Member, FL, October 19, 2004

All roads lead to the airport in Tampa. Even during rush hour it was easy to get to. A little scary leaving the hotel because the exit is on a curve and people drive fast in Tampa. You can hear planes arriving and departing but there are not as many after midnight. Hotel was as expected except the water was not very hot in the shower. They have very comfortable beds. They charge for internet access (noon until noon - not 24 hours from the time you buy!) but parking is free.

3 of 5  Okay Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Atlanta, GA, January 18, 2008

I stayed 1 night at the hotel due to a business meeting held at the hotel. I was charged $360 per night and it "clearly" was not worth the money!!!! The rooms are VERY average.....not upscale at all and the hotel seems pretty old, outside of the lobby, which has a more updated decor.

I would ONLY stay at this hotel if you have a business meeting held there.....not a great place otherwise.

3 of 5  Great Location, Dated Rooms, A TripAdvisor Member, Fairfield, Ohio, April 20, 2005

For a hotel located within the airport, I was surprised how quiet it was.

The staff was helpful, especially since I had several packets to leave for members of my group to receive upon check in.

The rooms were okay, a bit dated, and the high-speed internet was difficult to work because of problems with the router.

I ordered room service for breakfast and dinner. The person taking my order was wonderful, but the food itself was a medicore. I had better broiled fish in one of the airport restaurants. The limited hours for the casual restaurant/bar was frustrating because it never seemed to be open.

As other reviewers have stated, the pool is in full view of those passing on their way to the hotel.

Ultimately, for $249/night (the convention rate we received), it was just average compared to other hotels I've stayed at for the same rate.

2 of 5  Avoid this place if you need fresh air, A TripAdvisor Member, Los Angeles, California, October 30, 2008

Its quite convenient as its connected to the airport; that point cannot be denied. The problem is the air quality. I've stayed here on several occasions for conferences and the function rooms and hallways are always extremely cold; probably around 65 degrees, which is a bit extreme for October. Likewise with the guest rooms. I tried turning the thermostat up to 75, but even that didn't warm up the room. The windows don't open, so getting fresh air is impossible for people with sinus problems

Aside from the hotel's food, which is average, the only choices in the terminal are TGI Fridays and Burger King.

The pool seems to have been an afterthought. Its very small, the shape is rather odd, and you have to step up to get in.

So this hotel is fine for a night if you have a flight to catch, but if you are staying in Tampa for more than that, there are better choices within a 5 to 10 minute cab ride ($10).

Tip for Eating:

Take a cab to the International Mall, which is less than 10 minutes away. There is an outdoor prominade with about a dozen restaurants with a very good variety of choices and price ranges.

2 of 5  Great Hotel; just needs New Mattresses, A TripAdvisor Member, Central Illinois, March 9, 2008

The Tampa Airport Marriott is a wonderfully located hotel with a nice lobby, business center and spacious modern and comfortable rooms. There is only one problem: the beds are not too good. That's the main reason why one stays at an airport hotel; to get a good nights sleep. If you're flying in or out of Tampa, this hotel cannot be beat. Just ask for a room with a new bed!

1 of 5  Awful Attitude, A TripAdvisor Member, Princeton, Massachusetts USA, January 23, 2007

We travel extensively, worldwide, and came to the Marriot Tampa Airport for a seminar. The other reviewers are correct about the beds (great), and the location (any closer to the airport you'd be sleeping in a plane), but front desk service was the worst I have ever experienced. The Marriot corporate headquarters should be notified.

We checked in close to midnight, and headed to the bar for a bite, as the airlines do not provide food service any more. We thought it would be faster than ordering room service. The waitress avoided us, and was clearly flustered about the other customers in the bar (about 20). She took 15 minutes to take our drink order, refusing to take our food order at the same time. When she returned with drinks, 10 minutes later, she informed us that they were out of food, except for salads, and oh, we had to hurry up because they were closing in 10 minutes - I wondered why, in a hotel with 24 hour room service, they could be out of food, but we ordered salads. When they came, the waitress was still very flustered, and exclaimed what bad service we were getting but that it was the fault of the other customers ! (WHAT?) "We would have to come back another time to get good service" What she did not realize that the other customers in the bar, were part of the same seminar I came to, and included the gentleman speaker, who brought hundreds of people to their hotel four times each year. Everyone in the bar was well mannered, and animated with business chatter. The only person not behaving well was the waitress, but I soon realized that her atitude was simply a reflection of all the staff - that customers viewed as a nuisance.

Upon check in, I requested late check out, and was instructed to request this on the check out day. OK.

On that day, I went to the front desk, asked for late check out and was told there would be a $179 fee . I said fine and that I would be out by 5:30 after the seminar. The clerck told me that I had to be out by 6. I said, at that price, which was only $20 less than the nightly rate I was paying,I should be able to check out whenever I want, but that I would be done at 5:30. At this point the woman proceed to attempt to explain by reciting the company policy. Fine, fine.

She clearly did not realize that a unilateral dissertation of company policy, is not a warm fuzzy from the customer persective. Her action was beaurocratic, and unnecessary. She did not look at my reservation to ask me about how I wanted to handle the second room.

I realized this when I returned to my room(s), so I called the front desk. This time, I reached a different fellow, so I explained that I had two rooms, but was requesting late check out only for one. He said , "Oh, we show you checking out tomorrow, please hold" - this lead me to believe that the $179 "late fee" was in fact a nightly rate, so I sat fuming on the phone for two minutes, until he returned to say " Oh, ha, ha, you are set up for late check out, but our computer does not allow us to show it"....even more suspicious. I felt swindled, and said so, and then he too, proceeded to lecture me about policy. I had to interrupt him, to tell him I did not really care, but only that I did not want to be charged the late fee on two rooms. Again, an employee was so bent on setting me straight on the policy, that he forgot the reason I called in the first place. No BIG PICTURE

I was confidant that the problems were not over, and they did not dissapoint me.

later in the day, When I returned to my room, I found that the card lock had been changed, and I was locked out of the room with all my bags. Fortunately, a maid let me in. I called the front desk and spoke with a third person. I explain the earlier experience with incompetant staff had resulted in my being locked out. Her reply was that they did not lock me out ( !!!!! ) and that it was Mr. Marriots policy to change the card codes at noon. Instead, it It was my fault and I should have come down to have my card re programmed. She said she was in the same room as the fellow during my conversation and that I hung up on him before he could tell me about the card key. I told her, before I spoke with him I WAS DOWN AT THE FRONT DESK, and it was not mentioned then. Further, if the fellow knew that there was an issue of reprogramming the card key it was his repomnsibility to inform me. He did not call my room. I proceeded to tell her how I have been mishandled, and percieved to be overcharged, at which she proceeded to started to recite from the employee POLICY BIBLE - that sent me oever the edge. Not one person even recognized that they created an unhappy customer by their actions and word choice. I told her I would not be a Marriot customer again. I instructed her to have the bills ready for both rooms as I would be down in 10 minutes to check out.

Of course, only one room bill was ready for review. Idiots.

Oh yes, the pool was out of order too (where is the travelocity elf when you need him?) -

Furious!
