2 of 5  Good--but not great, A TripAdvisor Member, Worldwide, November 20, 2007

If you are a Marriott loyalist, this wil do the job. I'd rank it somewhere in the lower middle on the Marriott scale. City location near airport (but this is not the Marriott on the airport), is convenient to mall, etc. I found it pricy for Marriott--and beware they crank up the price whenever there's something going on in town and the hotel is full.

Housekeeping likes to turn down the air conditioning to full cold even in November. Your room will be freezing cold when you return and there's no heat.

5 of 5  Return visit (4x) to this Wonderful hotel!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Plainwell, Michigan, October 19, 2008

My husband travels on business and I have had the priveledge of going with him on several occasions now. The staff is always willing to help. The rooms are clean and spacious. The indoor/outdoor pool is very nice. I enjoy lounging by it and ordering food and drinks from the restaurant, Blue, that is onsite.

There is a free shuttle service that will take you to the Tampa International Mall, the Westshore Mall and really anywhere that you may want or need to go. Once they took me to a local liquor store so I could make my own cocktails while my hubby was away working. The fitness center is a plus too. They always put out fresh apples each day which is a bonus. I would recommend staying at this hotel.

5 of 5  Outstanding Service!, A TripAdvisor Member, Pittsburgh, July 2, 2008

There are a number of Hotels to chose from in Tampa, but as a loyal Marriott Rewards member, I was extremely impressed with the level of service at the Tampa Marriott Westshore. I was in town for business for three days and was immediately impressed by the van driver that picked me up from the airport. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the area offering to drive me to any of the area restaurants or shopping malls. Two fantastic options in the Westshore Mall and International Plaza Mall. The check in was smooth and they accommodated my request for an upgraded room to one of their balcony kings. Great view of Tampa Bay! Rachel at the desk even called my room to make sure I had everything I needed. The staff at the Blue Bistro and Bar were wonderful when I stopped in for dinner my first night. The staff at this Marriott seem to genuinely care about your experience and they were so accomodating of every special request. In the lobby one evening the chef was preparing samples of pasta that were delicious. The gym and pool area are one of the best I have seen during my travels and had a number fo special touches. When I returned to my room one night there was a special gift from the staff thanking me for staying with them. I will only stay at this hotel when I am in Tampa because of the OUTSTANDING staff!

5 of 5  Very nice Marriott, A TripAdvisor Member, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, February 8, 2008

My husband and I stayed at this Marriott several times while in the area searching for a new home as we were being relocated in Jan 2008. The first stay I found the room to be small but lovely, if the toilet lid was down the bathroom door barely closed! But i asked for a corner room on our next stay and found it to be huge and with a balcony. Definitely ask for the corner/balcony if available. The rates drastically reduce on the weekends as the hotel caters to weekday business travelers.

The rooms were modern, very comforatable - I could have lounged in that bed all morning, and very clean. The staff made it an excellent hotel in that they were very gracious, accomodating and friendly. The hotel also has a decent fitness center and a nice pool that is half indoors and half out.

There are many restaurants and shops close by and a Starbucks right in the hotel. Yes there is an adult establishment across the street but other than the sign you really don't know its there.

5 of 5  Nice business hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Stow, Massachusetts, September 6, 2007

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Westshore for 2 nights in late June 2007.

This was our second stay at the hotel - the last time was in February 2006. The hotel rooms have been renovated since that time, and now have flat screen TVs and the new Marriott bedding.

This hotel is predominantly a business hotel - not a resort. It does have a very nice indoor/outdoor pool and plenty of umbrellas. The wireless internet access is free in the lobby and in the pool area (great for working by the pool!) -- but you do have to pay for access in the rooms.

Everything was clean, the staff was friendly, and they do have a shuttle to the airport (and free apples at check-in). I'd stay here again.

5 of 5  Newly remodeled, flat screen TV's, extremely comfy beds, A TripAdvisor Member, July 16, 2007

I stayed two nights for business in Tampa at the Marriott Westshore and was extremely pleased with the remodeled interior, comfortable beds, and quality linens. The cool lobby is refreshing when you step in from the muggy Tampa heat--there are comfy sofas to sit at and a Starbucks in the lobby. The front desk clerks were friendly and effecient and said hi to people walking by in the lobby.

My room on the third floor was well appointed. It was a handicapped room, so tthe shelves in the closets were at waist level, and the bathroom had a walk/roll in shower rather than a bathtub. The king bed was supportive with a pillow top and light down comforter. Sheets were high thread count. The flat screen TV worked well and added to the rich feel. The desk was large. Toilletries were high quality Bath and Body Works and also included mouthwash! Iron and Ironing board provided

Wireless internet access was free in the lobby and worked well. I could not get a wireless signal in my room. The wired interent worked well in my room, but the cord was very short and I was pretty much restricted to having my computer on the desk. It was 9.95 per day.

My room was directly across from the elevator and I could occasionaly hear people talking in the hallway.

Room Service was on time for breakfast and the staff friendly and wished me a good day. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant. It you your average hotel restaurant with average to slightly above average food.

The pool was a salt water pool and contained both indoor and outdoor areas.

Overall, I'd stay at this hotel again wihout hesitation.

5 of 5  Cozy, Friendly Business Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Gainesville, Florida, May 14, 2007

At first I was annoyed the room was so small, but then I realized I actually had all the room I needed, and relaxed. And boy did I relax! The king size bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever been in, and the down comforter bedding was wonderful. The staff was genuinely friendly and perfectly helpful. The fitness room was always clean and in great shape (with cold apples and water), and the indoor-outdoor pool was long enough for lap swims. Several restaurants are within walking distance, as is International Mall and Bay Street, but the shuttle will take you anywhere within two miles. If you want a cozy room perfect for one or two, this is the place!

5 of 5  Free Apples at Check-In, A TripAdvisor Member, Tallahassee, FL, May 9, 2007

That's right, a plate full of Granny Smith's is waiting at the front desk. Nice room, beds were pretty good, beautiful indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub (you can swim from inside to outside). No complaints. Airport shuttle is convenient and reliable and starts at 430 AM. Coffee bar downstairs has some inexpensive bagels and danishes if you don't want the $12 english muffin offered by room service. I will definitely return.

5 of 5  Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful, A TripAdvisor Member, Virginia, April 20, 2007

The Marriott on Westshore Blvd. was absolutely wonderful. It is located in the middle of the city, right by the airport, but you would never know it! The room was beautiful with wonderful views of Tampa. We slept like babies in the plush bed and we thoroughly enjoyed the indoor-outdoor pool area. The workout room was very nice with treadmills, cycles, and elliptical machines. Fresh towels, water, and fruit were everywhere. There was a Starbuck's Coffee right in the lobby which we took advantage of most mornings. Breakfast in bed was also a plus. The food was great and the staff friendly. The location was extremely accessible to the airport and to the International Plaza Mall (just up the street). We walked through the mall and ate at numerous restaurants there. If there was any flaw whatsoever with this hotel it was the restaurant there called "Blue Bistro." The food was good but, in my opinion, it was extremely pricey for the small portions. Otherwise, everything was just as it should be when one thinks about visiting Florida. I would definitely recommend this hotel to those who like to stay close to the airport but still like to feel like they're in sunny Florida.

5 of 5  Great stay!, A TripAdvisor Member, Kansas City, April 7, 2006

I booked this hotel after securing a low rate on Priceline that was obscene ($50 for the night). They sent a shuttle to pick us up at the airport. The shuttle was running a little slow, but the weather outside was great. The hotel and the room was immaculate. The beds were comfy, and the staff very accommodating (particularly when I was locked out of my suitcase).

We only stayed here for one night before catching our cruise from the Tampa port, but this was a great place to stay. I would definitely book again.

5 of 5  Excellent Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, March 16, 2005

I always stay at this locaion everytime I go to Tampa room always clean very good beds and the restaurant th host and waitress give you a excellent service. I recomend this hotel.

5 of 5  Very Good Overall, A TripAdvisor Member, Montreal, February 4, 2005

We stayed at the Westhore Marriott on June 5th, prior to our cruise from Tampa Port. They picked us up from the airport and provided complimentary transportation to the nearest malls or restaurants. Staff was very curteous and polite. Rooms were spotless and we enjoyed the pool and whirlpool. Hotel is very well situated to walking distance to two malls, and several restaurants with a starbucks counter inside. I would definately stay again the hotel is 5 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes to downtown

5 of 5  Tampa Westshore is so great!!, A TripAdvisor Member, January 9, 2005

The Tampa Westshore is so clean and nice! I can't wait to go back. See you soon.

5 of 5  Resort-like airport hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Chicago, Illinois, June 20, 2004

I've stayed here 3 times and have always been really impressed. Not only are the rooms nicely appointed, but the combo indoor/outdoor pool is really a treat. Food can be ordered poolside, for a resort-like experience. Like most Marriotts, the food and service here are excellent.

Only complaint would be that I had to wait 25+ minutes for the airport shuttle to pick me up from the airport, but maybe I was just unlucky.

5 of 5  Great, A TripAdvisor Member, April 3, 2004

This is a great hotel with a great indoor/outdoor pool. Nice rooms. Request a high floor with a view of the bay.

5 of 5  Donald gadsby's girlfriend, A TripAdvisor Member, New Port Richey , Florida, March 17, 2004

Why would Donald ever do such a thing like that he had a great job at The WestShore . I believe the anonymous complaint was from a guy he knows in ohio, who does not like him and is trying to get Donald in trouble...

4 of 5  Nice Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Florida, November 17, 2008

Hotel is in a nice location between two malls. Plenty of restaurants nearby. There is a HS next door and you may hear their band practicing in the afternoon.

Rooms were the standard marriott room. Cleaning always seemed to take place late in the afternoon. Seemed like a business or convention hotel.

The concierge lounge was very nice and offered a nice breakfast and great snacks the rest of the day.

Staff was very friendly and helful.

4 of 5  Good enough to stay again, A TripAdvisor Member, London, UK, May 14, 2008

I've got pretty good eyesight and I didn't see the strip club. Bearing in mind you'd need to walk through the parking lot and cross a four lane highway to get to anywhere else, I think your morals will be safe here.

Spent two nights here on business and it was perfectly acceptable. The international staff were nice, breakfast reasonable if not special, location pretty good for the airport with a regular shuttle available. The pool is "Tampa's biggest", allegedly, which seems odd given that this is the land of plenty. It's possibly 20 yards long but in an odd configuration; it's nowhere near as big as the picture at the top of this page, which suggests this is a monster resort! It's not. It's on a corner plot.

The room seems to have been recently refurbished with comfortable bed and a very large HD TV with real, genuine HD channels. However, the doors etc. were clearly original features and looked a little tired. Not a significant reason to criticise the hotel.

On balance, whilst being an aging member of the chain gang, this property is certainly comfortable and I'd stay here again. Juding by what I saw of the outside of some of the other accommodation in this area, you could do a lot worse. Is it worth $150? Just about.

4 of 5  Nice Hotel, Not a Great Location, A TripAdvisor Member, New Jersey, January 10, 2008

The Westshore Marriott is a nice hotel, what you would expect from a Marriott. It is across the street from a Strip Club but generally the neighborhood isn't bad. It is near the airport and within walking distance of two malls but thats about it. I stayed there for a football game so it was close to the stadium which was good for me.

The hotel has a nice pool which, despite claims, was not heated so even though the weather was beautiful there was no swimming, The conference area was being renovated but did not impact my stay. There is a restaurant/bar with fairly expensive drinks. The rooms are a little small but nice. A highlight was a LCD TV with actual HDTV channels.

4 of 5  Good Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Tallahassee, Florida, June 14, 2007

Stayed at the Marriott West Shore consecutive weeks, once for 3 nights and then 2 nights. The hotel is easy to locate and right by the freeway. Inside is well maintained and looks great.

The service was excellent. They accomodated an early check-in and offered a free bottle of water while we waited even though it was not their fault we wanted to check in early.

The one thing to caution is that the bathrooms are tiny. The door barely slides past the toilet to open and is so low to the ground if you want the door open it won't open unless you take the towel mat off of the floor.

Beds are comfortable, rooms are good otherwise. Both rooms we stayed in are equipped with flat-screen televisions.

The restaurant/bar was nice, but very pricey. One frustration was that the credit card machine wasn't working one morning. But the food was good and the breakfast portions were huge.

The second stay my wife utilized the pool area and enjoyed it. I don't have a name, but major kudos to one of the front desk staff who retrieved sunscreen left at the pool accidentally and put it up in our room, completely went out of her way.

I would consider staying here again, it is a good location with access to two malls and a plethora of other restaurants, but I try to find places that provide internet and breakfast.

4 of 5  I would stay here again!, A TripAdvisor Member, Kennewick WA, May 22, 2007

I stayed here rather than the airport Marriott because I got a better rate. They have an airport shuttle which by the way, the next day dropped us off at the Alamo lot to get a car which saved us about 40 bucks. The room was small but nice and well appointed. Plasma screen tv, great bed and marble counters in the bathroom. Nice pool. The service at this hotel made our visit very pleasant! We came in about 11:30pm from the West Coast, our flight being delayed. The kitchen prepared us a wonderful meal and the service we had in the bar was exceptional!!!!!!!

4 of 5  outback bowl/ new year's stay, A TripAdvisor Member, PA, March 2, 2007

was a nice location convenient to the Outback Bowl, which the reason for our visit to Tampa. Had a corner room, which was very spacious with a nice little balcony area. Hotel was clean, rooms were updated and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Pool was nice even though we didn't get to use it much.

4 of 5  Comfortable, A TripAdvisor Member, Boston, November 16, 2006

We stayed at the Marriott Westshore from 11/6-11/10/06. We booked this property because we had a free night at a Marriott category 4 hotel. We paid for the remaining three nights. At the airport, after calling the hotel, we waited about 15-20 minutes for the shuttle to pick us up. Check in was smooth and we were upgraded to a concierge floor. I was surprised at how small the rooms were. There very little space between the dresser and the bed. The bed, by the way, was very comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. The bathroom, though small, had been updated and had good counter space. There was definitely no room for two people in there however. The concierge lounge was wonderful and we used it twice for continental breakfast and every night for dessert. The concierge, James, was terrific and replenished the cookies when he saw us come in. In fact, every staff member we came in contact with was smiling and very pleasant. While you had to pay for Wifi in your room (it was free in the lobby), they had a computer with printer, copier, and fax, in the concierge lounge. The pool area was nice with comfortable chairs. Would we stay there again? We wouldn't rule it out. It was centrally located for what we had planned for the week. Other than the small size of the rooms, there really isn't anything negative I could say about this hotel.

4 of 5  Great stay!!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, April 7, 2006

Enjoyed the Marriott Westshore, the pool, the room, the exercise room. Polite and helpful front desk!!!!! Excellent location for pleasure and for frequenting the Clearwater Beach each day.!!!!! Thank you Marriott Westshore for a delightful stay!!!!! Didn't even know the refurbishing of the roof was going on!!!!!

4 of 5  Great New Years Eve stay, A TripAdvisor Member, A PLACE CALLED HOPE, January 22, 2006

I must have stayed on a renovated floor as everything was clean and new. The room was tastefully decorated. The new bedding was beautiful and so comfortable. Super soft sheets. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Great buffet breakfast in their restaurant with some fresh made belgian waffles included!.The kids really enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool combo! Also we traveled with a large family group and had 6 rooms. We had a large amount of food that we had delivered poolside that was great also. Made a few trips to the bar, great service and drinks as well. We were leaving for a cruise the following day, so the only complaint was there was no shuttle service. We had our car but other family members took a cab.

4 of 5  Nice Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, North Carolina, March 24, 2005

This hotel was really nice and very convenient. We liked how easily accessible it was after getting off the interstate. The hotel pretty much has every thing you need: Good breakfast buffet in the mornings, and Champions restaurant is open the rest of the day. There's also a Starbucks in the hotel lobby, we liked that. The indoor/outdoor pool was nice too, the kids LOVED that (along with the pool table and darts inside the Champions restaurant). Anyway, all in all, if we ever find ourselves in that neck of the woods again, we would definitely stay there. We had a good time. If I had one complaint it would be that when I reserved the room two months in advance I went with the breakfast package, therefore it was a higher rate. Well, when we got to the hotel, they had no record of my having the breakfast package, but yet they still wanted to charge me the higher rate. But, to their credit, they gave me the breakfast vouchers anyway, and it all worked out.

4 of 5  MARRIOTT WESTSHORE, A TripAdvisor Member, UK, September 19, 2004

We stayed there back in June of this year and had wonderful treatment. The only problem we had was in the Italian Restaurant when the Manager there treated us terrible but Senior Management handled it so well and made us more than welcome. We were very happy there and will definately visit again.

3 of 5  Hotel fine area commercial, A TripAdvisor Member, New Jersey, November 15, 2008

This is quite a nice hotel, clean neat, with a friendly helpful staff. The room is clean and OK for the price. I hate having to pay for internet access.

The staff is willing to help with suggestions for restaurants but they refer you to chains, which seem to be all that is avaiable in the area. They chain that we went to was OK (Mitchells). We prefer to go to local family owned operations.

We ate twice at the hotel and cannot reccomend it. The service was great and the staff helpful and friendly but the food is indifferent.

The area where the hotel is located is drab, and commercial. The hotel is on a very busy highway and surrounded by strip clubs. The gas station across the street sells gang insignia hats. You cannot walk to anything.

3 of 5  Solid hotel for the area, A TripAdvisor Member, Saint Petersburg, Florida, January 14, 2008

This hotel is solid. I've stayed here a few times, most recently for a Christmas Party dinner (didn't want to drive home inebriated). The rooms are on the smaller side, but work for a night or two. Bed is fairly comfortable. Some work could be done on the bathrooms (minor peelings here and there) but nothing horrible.

The location is good, and if you can get a decent price it's a pretty good deal. On site parking has never been an issue for me. The hotel is down the street from the International Plaza (upscale mall) in one direction and in the other direction you'll find the Westshore Mall (with movie theaters, food, etc.). LOTS of hotels in this area and if you're a Marriott Loyalist this is a good hotel.

Right off I-275, easy to get around, and often times the hotel runs specials for "park and ride" for the airport.

3 of 5  Nice business hotel, bad housekeeping, A TripAdvisor Member, Atlanta, Georgia, September 22, 2007

The only reason I gave this hotel 3 stars was bad housekeeping. Everything else was great.

Very nice for a business traveller. Room had plenty of electrical outlets and I could plug in laptop, phone charger, blackberry charger, and hairdryer all at one time without crawling around behind the furniture. Work desk was comfortable. Had trouble getting a wireless connection at first, but the phone tech support was great.

This was my first visit to Tampa, so I can't comment on the location. Took the hotel shuttle from the airport and the driver was fantastic -- helpful, friendly, etc. The next day, I had 2 hours between meetings and he took me to a local mall and came back to pick me up.

Problems with housekeeping. I returned to the room around 3:00 in the afternoon and it hadn't been cleaned. Room service breakfast dishes still there. Front desk said 4:00 pm is their cutoff for cleaning, which seems a bit late. They sent someone right away who seemed irritated, but at least they took away the dishes. Someone else in our group never did have his room cleaned. He spent the night with dirty dishes and received a discount on his bill. Maybe they were having staffing problems?

Restaurant downstairs worked well for a business lunch. Service was quick. Room service for breakfast was right on time, food was good, servings were generous for a reasonable price (approx. $12). There's also a coffee bar in the lobby where you can get a very quick breakfast (bagel, prepackaged cereal, etc.) for about $5-6 and skip the slower restaurant if you're running late for a morning meeting.

Overall, a great hotel for a business trip. Hopefully, they'll resolve the housekeeping issues.

3 of 5  Ok, A TripAdvisor Member, Manteno, October 2, 2006

I stayed here for the weekend. I had not been her for awhile. I was disappointed to see Champions Sports bar gone and a high end resturant in its place. Just a 10 seat bar in the the resturant. The saunas are also gone. They were always great form my sinus cavity. Rooms have been remodeled and looked nice. Unfortunately with the hotel being 30 years old the furniture makes it very crowded. And if you look close you can see the hotel is that old. BIGGEST complaint was the cleanliness of the bathroom. Hate walking in to tile and a shower full of hair. Not what you would expect from this hotel. No towels at the pool either.

3 of 5  Average hotel, HIGH price, A TripAdvisor Member, Gallatin, TN, September 23, 2006

The weekend of 9/15-17a friend of mine and I stayed here for a travel agent seminar and conference. The hotel was nice, service was good, room was fine.....however the food in the meeting rooms was AWFUL!! For dinner one night we had baked chicken that was dried out, mashed potatoes w/skin, mixed veggies, a salad and Key Lime Pie for dessert. The chicken was dried out, the potatoes tasted good but were barely warm and the mixed veggies were just average. The salad was pretty good, the Key Lime Pie was VERY GOOD! The drinks in the Lounge were good, waitress awesome. Our room faced the airport/road so had a lot of outside noise all night long. Overall we had a pleasant stay but I would have been VERY disappointed if I had paid the advertised rate of $189 b/c the property is definitely not worth it.

3 of 5  Wait until rennovations are complete, A TripAdvisor Member, Long Island, January 4, 2006

I stayed at this hotel in late December of 2005. I was traveling for business but decided to have my girlfriend join me in Tampa for New Years. The hotel itself is an older, but well maintained, property. Unfortunately, in my unrennovated room, some of the things you would expect to be working were not. For instance, the air conditioning! I was without working A/C (or a window that wasn't bolted shut) for 2 of my 3 nights in the hotel. The carpet in the room was also pretty nasty. Once the room rennovations are done, this will be a great place to stay, however. The staff from check-in to check-out and everywhere in between were very helpful and pleasant and the hotel is centrally located and close to the airport. The indoor/outdoor pool was very nice and the exercise room was more than adequate.

For this trip, I would have been much better off in the Marriott Waterside or the Renaissance at International Plaza. Unfortunately, I didn't know until it was too late!

Regardless, we had an ok time in Tampa. We didn't find Ybor city to be very interesting but we did like the Channelside area. The International Plaza (right up the street) was also pretty cool...although being from New York we found it strange that people flocked to what is essentially a shopping mall for nightlife in the weekends!

3 of 5  Good hotel - easy on/off for interstate, A TripAdvisor Member, Indianapolis, February 15, 2005

Stayed for one night for Gasparilla Pirate Festival (01/28/2005). Nice breakfast buffer setup and excellent Internet speeds.

Located very close to Borders and a ton of restaurants, etc.

2 of 5  Desperately needs cleaning & upkeep, A TripAdvisor Member, Dallas, TX, August 5, 2007

I often stay in the Tampa area for business and have a usual hotel, which was booked full. Since I am a loyal Mariott rewards member, I decided to stay at the Westshore Marriott.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 night for business on July 24 & 25. The check-in process was easy and they gave me a room on the 4th floor. I went up to my room, which was directly across from the ice machine room and vending machine room and I silently hoped that it wouldn't be too noisy.

The room was bright with a large LCD TV, two double beds (I requested 1 King), a chair and a small desk area.

I immediately put my suitcase down and went to the bathroom. I was horrified when I lifted the toilet lid and there was a pubic hair and some feces on the toilet seat!!! I was running late for a dinner date so I just ignored it and put the seat up and hovered to do my business. I also noticed that the mirror in the bathroom was dirty, it had water splashes all over it and other personal items (like nose pickings!!)

Then I left, went to the front desk and told the manager about the toilet. He apologized and asked if I wanted another room. I said No, because I was running late for a meeting... but asked him to have someone clean the room.

The next day, AGAIN there was some brown juice on the toilet seat after housekeeping cleaned it. I think it runs down from when they clean it and put the lid down...still, it makes me wonder what they are "cleaning" it with to produce that brown gook.

My time spent in this hotel was brief, but I have to say that it didn't feel like a Marriott. Nor did it feel like a $200 room. The door fixture that lets you crack the door but not open it all the way was falling off of the door. So, if someone tried to break in my room, that stopper was no good, it would just fall on the floor. I tried to tighten the screws, but the holes were stripped. I am a female traveling alone, and I did NOT feel safe at all. I felt like I was staying at a 2 star hotel in the ghetto.

My only other gripes are that there were no parking spaces late at night and it is not in a good neighborhood. There is no valet parking, so I had to park illegally. The hotel is not in a good area of town and right across the street is THEE Dollhouse-- a strip joint where I saw many drunk guys strolling to and from. Also the internet was $10 a day, which is too much. I am used to staying at Marriott's which provide free internet.

I will not be staying at this hotel again, nor will I recommend it to any of my colleagues.

2 of 5  Not worth the money, A TripAdvisor Member, Cincinnati, February 25, 2006

Way overpriced, over $200 with taxes, $10 for internet, and $15 for breakfast buffet. For a great hotel, no problem. But this was no better than your average 2 star. Staff was unhelpful, hotel was plain, room was average, shuttle was slow. For $90 and free net/bfast, it would have been good. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

2 of 5  Disappointing - tiny, plain, nothing included, A TripAdvisor Member, Boca Raton, FL, June 6, 2005

I picked this place because of the good reviews on this site, but I was disappointed. I would compare the rooms to any Travelodge or Days Inn. I thought a Mariott would have been nicer. The room was TINY. In order to close the bathroom door I had to wedge myself between the toilet and the sink, and I'm a skinny guy. I have no idea how your average super-sized American could fit in the bathroom and be able to close the door. The bathroom floor had glass tiles which would have looked cool except for the dirty white grout which looked moldy. The rest of the room was clean although the stucco on the wall under the window had several foot long vertical cracks in it. The toilet was super noisy when refilling, and would start refilling for a second time about five minutes after a flush. The worst thing about this hotel was the rediculous extra charges for things other hotels offer for free. They wanted $10/day for Internet access and $13.95 per person for their breakfast buffet. Yikes! Even $40/nt hotels in Tampa give you FREE wireless access and FREE breakfast. I would much rather stay in the Embassy Suites.

1 of 5  Not the best Marriott in Tampa, A TripAdvisor Member, Pittsburg, PA, July 23, 2006

This is a 70's style Marriott hotel however the rooms have been

nicely updated with new furnishings and luxurious beds that pretty much guarantee a great nights sleep. Beyond that this is a basic Marriott experience. Location is great for the airport but not much else. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room as far away from the elevators as possible!

I'm a gold member with Marriott so I get upgraded to the Concierge Floor. The Concierge Lounge was nice but kept very dirty. The Concierge that works in the evening is a piece of work! I told him I wanted a good local steakhouse for dinner and he tells me Tampa doesn’t have one. He said he is Tampa's BEST Concierge and the ONLY good steak restaurants in Tampa are Ruth’s Chris and Timpano's. Someone needs to by this Concierge a Zagget book! Tampa has many great Steakhouses plus a world famous Steakhouse called Bern's with the largest private wine list in the world!!! You would think the The Best Concierge would mention that. I asked him if he would be putting out the alcohol and he said he doesn’t do that in his lounge because he likes to take a lot of smoke breaks and doesn’t want the alcohol out when he has to leave. I usually stay at the Marriott downtown and they always have a nice display of liquor, beer and wine for guest to serve them self’s hints the name HONOR BAR. This sentiment was felt not only by me but other traveling companions and we will not be returning to the Marriott Westshore. We like to stay where we feel appreciated and not degraded. There are several better, newer and friendlier hotels in that area that welcome guest and we will be pursuing those options on our next quarterly visit to Tampa.
