Just so you know, I already read all the reviews for this hotel before I booked. Sometimes you have to overlook a few bad experiences an just bite the bullet and try for yourself. I stayed at this hotel for a few days over my birthday. I chose this hotel for the price and how close it was to DC and the Zoo. When we arrived, the girl who checked us in was WONDERFUL. She asked us why we were visiting DC and when I told her it was for my birthday, she suggested a bunch of places to go (for green beer on St. Patty's day). Our room was not the best and not the worst place we have stayed. It was comfortable though and across the street from a Walmart. There were plenty of food options and even a grocery store nearby. Getting to downtown DC took 15 minutes or so. The shower sucked, but that is not why I was coming to DC in the first place, so it was not a deal breaker. On my birthday the staff wished my happy birthday and were very nice and friendly. I would stay here again. It was just the two of us and we were pleased with the price and proximity to everything. I recently stayed again at this hotel and the improvement was just obvious. Renovated rooms, more comfortable bed and friendly employees. Even the housekeepers greeted me with a smile. Good value for the money I paid. I was looking for a good rate for a hotel close to DC. First impression was a bit deceiving as the neighborhood looked like it had seen better days. However, the hotel itself met all our needs. Good air conditioning for the muggy evenings, close to many fast food restaurants, and hospitable staff. Close to the New Carrolton Metroline. Since we had a rental car, we found it easier (and cheaper) to take the car into DC rather than pay the all day pass for the Metro ($30 for the family of four). Surprisingly quiet during the night and good continental breakfast. If I had read the reviews first I may not have choosen this hotel, but the location was excellent for us and the price was right. The desk clerk was extremely polite when we checked in and because we were staying 6 nights offered us a room with a microwave and refrigerator. The workout room had a few basic pieces of equipment, treadmill, weight bench, bike, but they were adequate for me. Our room was a little better than just average. It was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again. We stayed here only one night, since we had a prepaid reservation for four more nights in a hotel in downtown D.C. after this night. Our room was adequate, acceptably clean, newer carpet, pleasant-enough furnishings, cable TV and HBO. The bathroom had some amenities, hairdryer, toiletries, coffeemaker and supplies, ironing board/iron in the room. There were several restaurants nearby, including an Italian place right next door. They had parking in the back, which was free, and apparently the metro subway station wasn't very far away. It would have been easy (and free) to leave one's car there and take the train into Washington, D.C. If cost is an issue on your vacation to D.C., I would say this hotel could work. For example, at the downtown hotel where we spent the next four nights, it cost us $22/day for parking, plus we still had to take the metro downtown (no parking to speak of in D.C. proper). So, at minimum you'd save the additional parking. It will, of course, take a little longer to get into D.C. and back, but I think the savings is worth it. They had a very basic continental breakfast, waffles, rolls, cereal, coffee. Not fancy, but something! If you're looking for a four-star hotel this isn't it (2 stars, I'd say), but unless you plan to luxuriate ordering room service in your room all day instead of seeing the sights, I would say this might suit your needs (and the price was 1/4-1/2 of the price they charge in the hotels downtown!) We also found a coupon online for $5 off.

I drove to M destination.I checked into the Comfort Inn.I parked on the side of the building where, there is Hotel Guest Parking. When I walked in,there was no Front desk attendant available.I had to say HELLO and then someone came out.OK,checking was ok.My reservations were available and all.I went to My room #210,the room was Great.I did see a Roach in the Bathroom, but I'm here for a more serious issue.I checked in on Jan 5th,09.First night was great.Second day,I stayed over again. That day,I did some errands had friends over at My room later.I left something in My car.I sent a Friend to go and retrieve the item. She accidentally left My doors unlocked(My conclusion).Later that evening,we were still in the room, when I got a urge to get some Food.I went out to My car.I put My key in the lock,it was unlocked already.I open the car door and saw that My car had been Ramsacked,My GPS missing, and even important paperwork with My info.Since I did'nt see any damages to the car,I automatically figured that My friend accidentally left the doors unlocked.I called her downstairs, frantic at this point.I alerted the front desk guy of what had happened. He suggested to wait for GM in morning. From that point on I did'nt feel safe,so I packed up My things and checked in at the Country Inn in Capitol Heights.I came in he Morning, had to fill out a Incident report,Police were called to do a report. The officer also requested to see the video camera that was pointing in the direction of My car.45 Minutes later,he comes out and says:I've watched and scanned through..The Camera was'nt running!!...Even though the door may havebeen unlocked,I had Hopes that we could at least find out who did this and why.I asked the GM about the secrity, she said that they have an undercover that comes from 11pm to 7am and patrols.Wow..that really helps, considering tht most crimes happen in the daylight or early evenings now a days.I've stayed at cheaper Hotels that had better security. That Hotel is'nt Safe to stay in.There were alot of complaints of Suspicious activity. They did'nt do anything though.I'm waitng on a response from the Corporate office.I mean, the GPS is gone and such, but The cameras were'nt working. There was nothing done to protect the Customers in this particular Hotel.I'll never go there again.I don'tsuggest that You do,unless You're walking, taking a cab,or catching a bus** I booked a room for the Giants v/s Redskins game & was given the wrong information...so if you decide to go here PLEASE make sure that you understand that you will be charged for 2 nights regardless...because of the game and then i thought it wasn't as bad as they say it was (hotel) but it's worst...the location is in the middle of the projects with a bullet-proof window at the entrance the rooms are unsafe & the staff is unprofessional.....SO PLEASE DO NOT BOOK COMFORT INN LANDOVER HILLS....trust me if you do you will regret it!!!!!! Did not meet our expectations. Arrived at night and were surprised to see the counter behind bullet proof glass. Questionable people hanging out in front of the hotel at night. We did not feel safe at all although staff assured that the area is safe .... Room was smelling bad and was kind of grubby. Breakfast was okay but not at all a "deluxe" breakfast. Breakfast room was in the same condition as the hotel. Have seen better Motels than this Hotel. All in all, we are definately not going to stop by when we are in the area again. One positive thing is that the staff was friendly though but it does not affect the overall poor rating. The bulletproof glass at the lobby desk should have tipped me off. We stayed at this hotel because of its proximity to FedEx Field. The reservation associate told us there was a grocery store across the street (Actually it was an abandonned mall in the process of being converted to a WalMart--not open yet) and she said the neighboorhood was "just fine" (i.e. not scary) because "THIS is Landover Heights, not Landover". And that we could walk to the stadium (DO NOT ATTEMPT!) Our observation was that Landover Heights was still a pretty rough 'hood. While walking out of the building we saw an altercation between the front desk and an apparently out-of-it prostitute who was trying to get in to the hotel because she "had business there" and named a room number that didn't exist. Kudos to the front desk staff for getting her out of there in a professional manner (I think they directed her to the seedy motel next door). With one exception, the front desk staff was outstanding--very nice and willing to help. The one exception was the young man who swore up and down that the hotel didn't have any extra pillows--even though the hotel was obviously not full. The next morning I asked the manager about this and he said "of course we have extra pillows" and promptly gave me one. Our stay there was interesting , but the cleanliness left alot to be desired. There also was no beer within distance from the hotel. The grocery store that was on the way to the stadium (for tailgating supplies) was ok, but not much selection. My friend and I stayed at this property for (1) one night. Our check in process was great. The desk agent Cynthia was excellent. We were checked into room #402. Upon opening the door the lights did not turn on to the room, so Cythnia changed our room to #105. The first problem we found was that the heat did not work. We notifed the desk and a maintience man was going to check on the heat for us. I decided to change into my night clothes and wait on the maintience man. We pulled the cover back only to find stains on the covers, hair strains, and dirt stains on the sheets. We notified Cynthia about this huge issue. She came to the room to inspect and moved us immediatlely to room #107. She aploigized for the inconvience we had experienced. We looked at the heat and bed to make sure everything worked and was clean in this room. Room #107 was ok, nothing special. All in all this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I travel all over the country often. I would not recommend this hotel to my DOG!!!. P.S. Watch out for that bulletproof glass at the front desk, VERY WELCOMING. I am writing this review in this hotel on my last night here. After getting Robbed by gunpoint in the local Metro Station I decided this area is just not for me. I don't blame the hotel as its area that is the problem. I paid $71.00 a night for the 2 nights and I still think I over paid. One look into the lobby with the bulletproof glass and I was worried a little. But on my second night here coming back on the Orange Line Metro and getting off on the Landover station my party of 4 was robbed by Gun & knifepoint. Luckly the metro police found the thugs. To Anybody who wishes to save a few bucks I HIGHLY would not advise it . Stay in a better part of town I stayed at this hotel in early december and 7 of my friends wewre robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot at 9 pm. The security gaurd does not come on duty til 10 and then talks on his cell phon all nigh tin the lobby. dont risk this place I stayed in Comfort Inn for only one night, but that was enough. The first thing that disappointed me was the SMELL - not only in the room, but in the hallway. The stairs were all dirty - some sort of stains from liquid garbage. When I entered the room - I noticed how old everything in it was. Starting with table and chairs, TV, etc. I won't even talk about the bed... The blanket looked like it was from Salvation Army with a huge cigarette burn in the middle. Chairs had stains, even the TV had a nasty stain on the screen. Carpeting did not seem to be "fresh" either. The only thing I was satisfied with - the bath tub. I did not feel disguisted taking a shower. Like I said - the one thing that bothered me the most - was the SMELL!!! When a person checks into a hotel there is a clean smell in the room, not a sweaty smell. The breakfast was ok - coffee, tea, toast, bagel, jam. BUT there was no official breakfast room - it was located in the Meeting room, where there were only 4 tables. I had to take my breakfast up to my room. I know, I know - what shoud I expect for such price... I will NOT stay in this hotel again or in any other chain associated with Comfort Inn.
