Great Hotel in Pinetop--Recommended for Skiers | Read all reviews
We just returned from a quick weekend getaway to Sunrise to enjoy some great early season skiing. Some background, I am a frequent business traveler and I am on the road abtu 50 percent of the year--approximately 150 nites a year. Normal brandds include HI Express, Hampton, Hilton Garden Inn and Residence Inn. This year, I have stayed about 60 nites in HI express hotels nationwide. We checked in about 5 pm after a long day skiing that included a 4 hour drive from Phoenix. Check in was quick and efificient. This is a small hotel with a cozy lobby featuring 24 hr coffee/tea/cocoa and a fireplace. We requested a rollaway bed at check in and it was delivered within 10 minutes of getting into the room. The room was simple but comfortable. Beds and pillows were firm and linen was new and clean. All rooms feature a microwave and a mini fridge in the bathroom. Some nice features included upgraded soaps and conditioners in the bathrooms, water in the room at check in, and hangin hooks on the wall for large garments like ski jackets and pants. In the morning, we had the free breakfast which included eggs, sausage, muffins, cereal, fruit, coffee/teas and HI Express's famous cinnamon rolls. Check out was simple. There was a slight error on the rollaway bed charge and it was quickly corrected. All in all, this is a great hotel in a small town. Check it out!

Unfortunately I had booked a hotel online and when I got to the hotel it looked a little "seedy" to me as I was traveling alone. It was labor day weekend and so I set out to find a place to stay and a place that would let me use their internet to cancel my other reservation. I walked into the holiday inn express and was cheerfully greeted by Sandy at the front dest whom totally sympathized with my situation. She gave me a room (free upgrade) that was absolutely wonderful. CLEAN, comfortable mattress, great linens and quiet. This hotel is currently upgrading all the rooms. I think the room I had was already upgraded. It was so nice. Breakfast buffet was wonderful and kept well stocked even on a busy holiday. Staff was great. HINT: if you want to go walking in the morning for some exercise, walk out of the hotel turn right and then right again at the street next to circle K. I think the name was turkey track. At the end of the street there is the beginning of a trail that leads to a lake, about 0.5 mile. there is a paved track around the lake. It is absolutey georgeous and safe. Indoor pool sparkling clean. Really enjoyed myself. Oh, and they also have 2 computers for guest use!!!! We arrived at this motel at sunset on September 23, 2007. After driving in the desert for days, it was a fantastic surprise to find this lovely mountain resort in east Arizona. The motel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night but wish we had more days to stay here. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet amidst the lovely trees. We had great amenities and a wonderful continental breakfast in the morning that included their signature cinnamon rolls, eggs, english muffins, yogurt, sausage, hot and cold cereal, fruit, muffins, and juice. Every staff member that we encountered went out of their way to be nice and to make our stay enjoyable. We really hated to leave! Very clean Hotel, you would think it was new. Excellent Staff, very helpful. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. I would definitely stay again at this Hotel. Good night sleep, quiet and beds very comfortable. Mary Ann Prescott, AZ I recently had a chance to stay in Pinetop for a couple of days. I normally stay at the Best Western, it is usually cheapest in town. I decided to try the Holiday Inn accross the street to compare. It was only $20 more, but worth much more. Free Cookies in the afternoon, free breakfast in the morning, AND VERY CLEAN. Typically Holiday Inn is more expensive, but now I know why this one is worth it. S Taylor Camp Verde I am in the White Mountains on business pretty often. I am kind of a road warrior and like to stay with the same brand when I can. When in Pinetop, I cheated and stayed at the Holiday Inn. This was my first experience, certainly not my last. The breakfast was the finest in the area. Best of all it was free. They just added HI SPEED INTERNET. Oh yeah that was free too. The rooms are clean, staff was awesome, and the steakhouse nearby was the best. When you are on business, make your plans at the Holiday Inn Pinetop. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for years. I have found the staff very friendly and they always welcome me by my name. The rooms are very clean and offer great amenites. They are always looking to add to their offerings and welcome suggestions. I was kind if surprised at the other reviews. I found this hotel to be very basic, maybe even a little run down. If you get a room in the back of the hotels, you look at your room and see the beautiful pine trees. The front lobby staff were very nice though. I wanted to stay here, as opposed to Show Low, because it is kind of nestled in the trees. The hotel is small and so is the pool. The breakfast was good though. I did not have a reservation, but they were very accomodating and I got a good price for the room. Very good breakfast, rooms could be a little cleaner. No swimming pool but a small whirlpool, also has 3 treadmills for the exercise room. When I was there, they were going to install free high speed Internet which is a big plus.Overall a nice place to stay. However I was disappointed with the town of Pinetop, SHow Low, etc. They're not that rustic or attractive.
