We booked through Hotwire. Once booked we found our stay would be at The Crown Plaza. The hotel has a beautiful lobby, with marble floors. The staff are very coutious and helpfull. They have an onsite restaurant and longe that serve excelent food. The location is key since they are just accross the street from King Harbour which has several good reataurants and night spots, as well as sport fishing, whale watching, and a great high speed boat trip. Try Tony's on the Peir. There are two.(known to locals as) "Old and New". both are good but old is the best. The "Old Tony's" has a Crows Nest, just a small place upstairs. Awsome vies and very romantic at sunset. This Crowne Plaza was our home base for us and a number of our family and friends while we were in town for our daughter's wedding. This involved 9 rooms with stays ranging from 1 to 4 nights. We preface the above info because we think it's meaningful that we heard NOT one complaint, even from family members who would not worry about sharing their feelings! However, we can only write here about our experience. From our first conversation with Joseph Russo, who heads up the hotel's rooms division, to our check-out on the last day, we were treated with warm and welcoming professionalism. Our questions and requests were answered promptly, whether it was asking for directions from the airport or another foam pillow in the room. Our room was shiny clean, well furbished in the newest hotel style with great linens and duvets, etc., and, most important after a long trip, the rooms were ready when we arrived. We do recommend asking for a higher floor because the Redondo Beach area is very pretty to look out on. Also the hotel self-parking is a very short walk up a hotel corridor, so not much need to pay the valet charge. In all honesty, because of what previous reviewers had written, we were a little concerned about staying here. However, we encountered just about none of those problems. The rooms were spacious, clean and kept clean during our stay. Our bathroom was updated and had all the bells and whistles. The corridors had nice carpeting and again, were clean. As everyone does seem to agree about, the lobby is gorgeous. Also several of our friends used Gold's Gym and loved it. A few of us also had several services in the hotel spa and all were unanimous: forget it. None of us ate in the hotel because there are too many good restaurants just steps away. We don't know what the official "star" count or level is for this hotel. We can tell you that our stay was of a 5-star variety. No, it's not a brand new building or brand new anything, rather a very respectable, updated, conscientious effort, staffed by caring professionals (especially Joseph Russo and his team), who worked hard to make our stay a comfortable, even memorable, experience. It was. We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights as part of 3 week tour of California. We were given an upgrade to an Ocean View room which we found very spacious and clean. Reception staff were very helpful and had a great "can do" attitude which as a hotel manager myself, think is an essential part of a successful hotel. Breakfast was good - I liked the idea of the omelet and waffle station. All public areas were clean and well presented. The outdoor pool was ok if not a little too crowded with kids! Overall we had a great stay here with no problems or concerns. Redondo tips:- - Use the car park next door. The hotel has valet but we found it easier and cheaper to park and collect the car ourselves. About $16 per 24hrs - If you need Internet access use the business centre near reception as the TV Internet in the room is a little ropey - When you come out the building TURN RIGHT. To the left is the old marina which is not the nicest of areas. - Visit Bluewater Grill for friendly staff and great food - Visit the Cheesecake Factory. It gets REALLY busy but it's worth it!!! - Visit Hermosa Pier for great bars and atmosphere Gorgeous spacious lobby upon entering the Crowne Plaza. Fresh flowers everywhere, it was wonderful. The staff was so courteous & professional. They bent over backwards at any request you had. The room was huge (after staying in Motel 6 I was ecstatic to stay at the Crowne Plaza!). I had read some other reviews of people saying the rooms were outdated. Not true! I thought the decor was fine. What do you want? A renovation every week with the latest fashion trends from L.A.? Give me a break. I loved the room and everything about the place. We had a great stay. The hotel is within walking distance to several restaurants and it is across the street from the marina, beach and a large kids play area with a swim beach. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Also, if you Priceline it you can get the rooms for a great price last minute! We arrived late at night, tired and frustrated from airline and airport delays and our first experience of this hotel was a smart happy receptionist helping us locate somewhere that would deliver a pizza to our room at midnight (ish). he did that, thay did that and i have to say that the hotel constantly and consistantly lived up to the early impression. All the staff are good, no really, very good and very helpful. We were on the 5th floor which is for priority club members (allegedly) and the room was big and spacious though overdue for a lick of paint, but hey, we were there for 2 nights, we weren't buying the place. If you are a priority club member you also get access to a lounge on the 5th floor with complimentary european breakfast, and a tea time happy hour with free, yes free wine, beer and drinks. Join the Priority club before you go though. The loction was perfect for us, Redondo beach is quiet (apart from some beach karaoke party on Sunday night which the hotel glazing bloked completely) The hotel car park charges, but there is a huge car park just across the road which, judging by the vehicles in there is either free or cheap and seemed secure, it is also RV friendly. We ate at the local Cheesecake Factory restaurant which was wonderful and great value (opens at 11:30am so no breakfast) ant there is a Ruby's Dner and other restaurants within a half mile walk - no shops though. 2 minor gripes One was that the room needed a coat of paint and the other was the room lighting, the switch inside the door turns on one 20watt light, you then have to fumble in the dark to locate the other 3 switches on the desk and wall lights - wery strange. I would revisit this hotel without one seconds hesitation. it is probably the best Holiday Inn group hotel in terms of service that I have stayed in outside of Asia. Unlike earlier reviews I read, the staff was courteous and helpful; the main areas are upgraded; the room was nicely appointed but not every spot was upgraded (our carpet, shower grout were not perfect and may offend some.) But all in all, if you can get in under $100 a night - it is well worth it and very pleasant. It feels like a 3.5 star vacation hotel. Great pool and jacuzzi area overlooking marina - my fav feature. I lived in Hermosa Beach (just north of this hotel's Redondo Beach location) for 13 years before moving away, so as somewhat of an expert on the area I can say that if you're looking for a great value (see priceline.com or other booking sites for best rates) at a very nice hotel close to (certainly not on) the beach and the fun beach cities of Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan, and don't mind somewhat-long walks / bike rides to the beach or pier areas and an occassional pricey taxi ride (or drive) into town, then the Crown Plaza is an excellent, excellent choice. Has short walks to a few chain restaurants (Ruby's, Cheesecake Factory) if you choose not to venture into one of the beach towns for a more local dining experience. You can visit the Redondo Beach pier for full-on tourist treatment (for better or worse ...), and, for a true (i.e. non-tourist) taste of California beach culture at it's best, a visit to the Hermosa Beach pier, even just for a quick meal, is a must. This hotel also has free access to the huge Gold's Gym next door - an excellent bonus vs. the tiny "gyms" found in many hotels. The only negative I have for this hotel is that the beds could have been a bit less firm (of course, this isn't the Four Seasons so you get what you pay for...), but for overall value, quality and location I would highly recommend this hotel ! Spent five nights at the Crowne Plaza and had a great stay. Had a great and big room with a nice ocean view. Location is great and valet parking is quic and easy. Ate at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and it was good an tasty - try the paella! Pool on the top floor was clean and inviting with free towels. This is a very nice hotel to stay especially if you want to be away from the down town area. There are plenty of restaurants close by and the beach area is very nice. There is a marina across the street as well as many restuarants to take advantage of. I took advantage of the fitness center Golds Gym (which was free) and walking just to relax. This is a great alternative to staying in Los Angeles since this will give you some privacy and much needed relaxation. The staff were nice and the hotel was clean and comfortable for the price. I rented from Hotels.com and I found this to have the best price. Stayed here on 2 occasions in April - booking through Priceline and getting a great rate of $45 per night - at this rate great value. Got room looking over the front towards the sea. Room has all the standard Crowne Plaza fittings and was in good condition. Free entry to Gold's gym next door which is an awsome gym plus got free access to the business centre to check emails etc. Only issue is price of parking but park on the streets behind for free. Stayed at Crowne Plaza last April 5th and it was amazing. The location was perfect. You have a covered parking and Free use of Gold's gym in your left. You have Cheesecake Factory across on your right. Then, right in front of you is the seaside lagoon, Joe's Crabshack, Ruby's Diner and the marina. Across on your left is Captain Kidds' where you can eat delicious Fish & Chips and breakfast at Polly's. At the hotel, you can view the whole marina and watch the sunset at the pool terrace. Pool is heated with free use of cabana. There's a jacuzzi spa and separate men and women's sauna and massage. A 5 minute walk will bring you to the famous Redondo Beach Pier. There you will find the best seafood, crab and lobsters. "Quality seafood" is the best! A little walk further will lead you to Old Tony's then Pacific Fish Center, On the other side of the pier is where the beach is at. We went swimming and had so much fun. Overall, crowne plaza will give you your money's worth because of its location. Santa Monica hotels will cost you $300 to have this location. This one is just between $100-$135. After all the walking and eating crab, its nice to go to your bed and sleep like a baby in their comfortable rooms. We will definitely come back. I was a little nervous reading other reviews that were written about this hotel, but was pleasantly surprised. The location was great for our needs. Looking out on the beach, in a quiet neighborhood with restaurants and shopping a short drive away. Hotel is a little bit older, but rooms were decent. I didn't have any problems with housekeeping, although i've stayed at better cleaned hotels. Hotel charges $18 per day for parking, which is a big rip off considering nowhere else (including the Best Western across the street) charges for parking. We left our bags at the hotel parked one street east for free. There is also free Internet access in the business office. Hotel and hot tub are nice, with a view of the beach. Hotel guests get use of the Golds Gym next door which has cardio equipment with a great view! We chose the Crowne Plaza at Redondo Beach because of its chain affiliation, location, and price. Thank goodness I had not read the negative reviews before booking, because I would have chosen somewhere else, which would have been my loss as the hotel was, in my opinion, excellent value for the dollar. When we booked on line, we selected a double non-smoking, but indicated on the comments line that a king/queen non-smoking would have been our preference (none were available at the time we booked). We were pleasantly surprised to get just what had hoped for: a king non-smoking (although it overlooked Santa Catalina Blvd, which was a bit busy), even though we checked in much earlier in the day than hotels normally prefer. The front desk staff was helpful and efficient. The concerige pointed out where the nearest shopping was and where and when to catch the free shuttle. When we indicated that we wanted to go to a specific store, she provided us with a map and gave us city bus locations and times/prices. She also pointed out attractions within walking distance. She offered to call a cab for us the next morning, which was very helpful. The room was spacious and clean, although a little dated, perhaps. Renos were being done in a room down the hall (new carpet, at least). The lobby was elegant and uncrowded. We had breakfast in the adjacent Splash restaurant the next morning; choices were the continental or buffet. We chose the latter: expensive, but good. As we were leaving that day for a seven-day Princess cruise (with all the abundant food that cruises provide), we probably should have just found a $5.99 breakfast place in nearby Hermosa Beach. I would definitely choose to stay at the Crowne Plaza during any future trips to LA. Although we found the Redondo Beach boardwalk and marina to be somewhat run-down, nearby Hermosa and Manhattan Beaches (easy walking distance) are excellent attractions. After staying at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in LA prior to checking in here, this was a completely new hotel personality to adjust to. To use a metaphor, the Hyatt was like Charlotte York from "Sex and the City". Classy, sophisticated, well-schooled, a bit restrained but fun. She'd be the massage client. The Crowne Plaza is more like Phoebe Buffet from "Friends": Laid back, slightly scruffy yet presentable, more down-to-earth, leaning toward wacky. Definitely the masseuse. Scored this place for 3 nights on Priceline at $58/night. A much fairer price for a property rated 3.5 stars by them since they suffer grade inflation. Here's why: Cons: - The lobby carpets are faded and showing heavy wear. - The parking garage is depressing, ghastly, and difficult to access from the hotel ; it reminds me of some East German communist housing project. Cost is $18/day with in and out privileges. - The drawers are no longer flush with years of use while the TV armoire has a number of scratches. The mini-fridge has seen some heavy wear - clean but well-used. Pros: - Gretchen at the front desk was a spirited ray of sunshine. Warm, solicitious, and ready to answer questions. She asked for my Priority Club number so she could issue a coupon good for a complimentary amenity. - Choice of amenity: up to $15 in telephone calls, one day's free internet, or 4-hour free bike rental. - Large room. Definitely bigger than the one at the Hyatt. - King bed had great soft sheets and firm newish mattress. - In room refrigerator. No less than 4 working lamps. Room carpets are in nice shape. - Designated quiet floors - no groups or teens booked on these floors. - Free use of the Gold's Gym next door. Nice eye candy for sure. - The beach is across the street and the pier with boardwalk is a 1 minute walk away. - Housekeeping was good, but still needed a gentle push to leave added bars of soap and shampoo. Solved this motivational issue by handing them their daily tip. I was swimming in clean towels, soap, and shampoo by the end of the 3 days. With the right mindset, this 'Phoebe' makes for a good and fun stay in the upscale Redondo Beach area that have a lot of 'Charlottes' running around in. From Phoenix, AZ. Stayed here from New Year's Eve through Jan. 3rd, 2009, while making our trek south on HWY. 1. Crappy winter weather, but great location...close to Hermosa and Manhattan Beaches, King Harbor, and the Redondo Beach Marina and Pier. The Marina and Pier are literally right across the street. It is about a 10 -15 mi. bike ride to Venice Beach, depending on bridge and bike and foot traffic - but way too much $ for a cab to Santa Monica, so better have a car. Overall experience at this hotel was far beyond what I had expected. I stay at the CP's a lot, and utilize my Priority Club membership. The views from our balconies were amazing (see photo), and the rooms themselves were nice, big and clean. I didn't know that LAX was so close, so be expected to meet lots of people from acorss the globe, especially Brits (British Airlines) love to stay here and can be found milling about in the lobby. Service was excellent, friendly and willing to treat you as nice as you treat them...(hint). If you don't have a good time in Redondo Beach, then you probably can't have a good time anywhere! Great location (so get out and take advantage of it), great people with no attitudes, great seafood restaurants and bars. This hotel is in a great location in Redondo Beach area but also a five minute walk from Hermosa Beach. It is lovely being able to walk along the promenade of Hermosa and just people watch the various surfers, dog walkers, joggers and roller skaters. The hotel itself is clean and the rooms nicely decorated with comfortable beds. I have always found the staff to be very polite and courteous. There is a nice pool area and hot tub. I can't comment on the restaurant or bar of the hotel as we have always gone out. There are so many nice places within walking distance and with the lovely California weather who wants to stay in their hotel? You have a beach and marina on your doorstep. Redondo is a residential area and I have always felt very safe walking around here. I have no complaints about this hotel. Stayed at this hotel 12-23-25,2008 great location and very large room. Clean room and a great view of the ocean we had. Cheesecake factory and Ruby nearby . Ruby has great breakfast. Highly recommend. We did not have a car. Parking was $20 or $22 a night. Stayed here with a friend last fall - beds are super comfy showers are nice and the location is very good for the south bay - got a great rate on hotwire - around $70 per night. I wouldn't pay $200 for this hotel, but for less than $100 per night its a pretty good bargain for So. Cal. You can get free parking on the streets to the south of the hotel - sometimes you might have to walk a few blocks but its worth it to save the $$$. I picked the hotel because it's nestled in the South Bay away from the chaos of the LA and the 405. A 5 minute drive to Palos Verdes and all the action on Hermosa Pier Avenue. Right across the street from Ruby's (awesome breakfast) and the Cheesecake factory. After reading many of the negative reviews about this hotel I was somewhat skeptical about staying here. Unfortunately, my room had already been booked and paid for through Hotwire.com at $69.00 a night. Check in was a breeze and we were assigned room 2044 which had a view of Beryl, one of the side streets in Redondo. The room itself was nice, not great, but nice. The carpets could have been cleaned or even replaced and some of the furniture was "dinged up". The bed was very comfortable and pillows were abundant. The t.v. was okay, good picture, but not a great selection of channels to choose from on the menu. The bathroom was clean with a nice showerhead but the supplied bath products were just "okay". The water temperature and pressure were both very good. The room did have a sliding glass door which could be opened to allow the beautiful ocean breezes into your room, my room did not have a balcony but I noticed that some others, probably the more expensive rooms, did. A small refrigerator was inside of the t.v. armoir to allow for storing of drinks and small packages of food. The pool, on the roof of the 2nd floor, was fairly large and afforded a great view of the ocean. The pool is salt water and was heated to a comfortable temperature. We did not eat at the restaurant so I cannot comment on that aspect of the hotel, the menu did look quite pricey though for room service so we passed on that as well. The garage parking is $16 a night but is easily accessible off of Harbor Dr. and we experienced no problems. People must remember that this is SoCal, particularly the beach area and payment for parking is pretty much the norm. The location of the hotel cannot be beat, a five minute walk to the RB pier and all of it's restaurants, shops, bars and arcades. In summation I was quite satisfied with our stay and I would stay again if the right price presented itself. I would probably be disappointed if I had paid the "rack rate" as some others here did but as I did not I would recommend this place as a good base for the south bay area. This is a great middle of the road hotel in a great location. Rooms are large and beds comfortable. Have to say the check-in staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant breakfast was pleasant. Loved having a pool and as it is on the roof it is somewhat sterile and could do with a few more plants and shelter. Will definitely be back next time my girlfriends and I go shopping! I spent one night here and overall was pleased. I found the bed to be comfortable, the room was a decent size, hallways were quiet and the "city view" was lovely. Also it was a short pleasant walk to the Redondo pier and beach. On the downside: - room wasn't very clean (carpet was quite stained and I found hairs in the tub) - internet access is not free (although I managed to pick up a weak wifi signal for an open/free network) - parking is a total ripoff at $16... particularly considering when I checked out at 8:45AM the garage was unattended with the exit arm raised allowing cars to drive out without paying (had I not informed the hotel on check in that I had a car, I would not have been billed) - check in time is 4pm. I arrived at 4:05 and after waiting in line for at least 15 mins (there was only one person behind the counter - at check-in time no less!) I was told to "come back in 20 minutes" as they were still cleaning the rooms. I was quite put off by this. I noticed the lobby was filled with departing British Airways flight attendants and pilots. Regular checkout time is noon but I imagine they allowed the crew to stay longer which is why there were no clean rooms available at checkin time for us regular folks. Not cool. After spending a horrible night at the Best Western Redondo on the PCH (currently rated #1 - WHAT?!?) I bid $67 on Priceline for a 3* in Redondo/Manhattan area fully expecting to win the Crowne Plaza. Even with the parking charge, it was a good value. I don't think it's worth the amount the hotel charges directly however unless you want ocean view (when non-Priceline guests were checking in they were asked if they wanted an ocean view for no additional charge). We used priority club points for our 3 night stay at this hotel so I can't really comment on whether it's worth a certain amount etc.. But here's the rest- Oddly compared to other posters, I thought the service was one of the hotel's BEST features. Everyone was extremely friendly to us. Bad timing- the hotel's room locks were down and had to be replaced while we were there so security had to meet us at the room every time (only 1 day though). Not their fault, handled well. You can rent bikes and ride up the beach, highly recommend. They also have a salon there that had inexpensive facials and massages which was great. $70 for an hour massage. Our room was fine, bed above average not divine. bathrooms slightly small and dark. but overall new and a very comfortable place to stay. great ocean view from our room, try to work w/the hotel directly on this if it's important to you. A bit of a bustling place, so don't count on a quiet visit. The pool was just a pool on the roof, big w/a jacuzzi, nothing special. I am pretty picky, not the best place we've stayed but for the area I'd stay there again. Not a whole lot to complain about here. Hotel easy to find as wanted a hotel within easy reach of LAX for our flight the next day. We had a room overlooking the marina at the front which was nice as the rooms at the back the so called city view rooms just overlooked the back car park which was'nt so great. Found the lighting in the room could have been a bit better but the amenties left in the bathroom were very nice. Had an evening meal in the Cheesecake Factory across the road and had breakfast in the hotel in the morning which proved very good. We had a long walk along the beach front before checking out and found Redondo Beach very nice - much better then Manhatten Beach up the road. In fact we wished we had an extra night here to explore a bit further. This hotel ticked all the boxes and we will go back again if we are in the area once again but for longer next time. The room rate is higher than the Best Western next door without the breakfast and having to pay $18 a night to park. I've got to admit that my first impressions were wrong. I thought I could spot a good "Spring Break" hotel, and I had gotten the impression this was one of them. This theory was disproved at check in. The desk staff were always polished and professional. The lobby and reception areas were regal. I got a room on the 4th floor facing a side street that was as large as a junior suite I had in another hotel. And though the room faced a side street, its balcony was at a 45 degree angle that allowed me to see the marina across the street. A good number of my fellow guests were at the hotel for a weekend wedding and reception. The wedding was a huge affair that closed the hotel's pool and lanai; the wedding reception preoccupied catering and restaurant services most of Saturday, and a bit of stress was placed on housekeeping services the whole weekend. Though we were not allowed to take pictures of the bride and groom, the wedding was a spectacular affair worthy of Hollywood, and several of us regular guests dressed up and mixed in with the wedding party. So much for being a "Spring Break" hotel. :-) I did manage to get some photos of my 4th floor room. They should be attached. My Goodness! What a poor excuse for a hotel....We thought we were going to have a great weekend, but from the moment we arrived until we left, my wife and I experienced poor service!! The clerk at the front desk was more than a little surly (needs training in customer service!). And while our room was clean, it smelled of mildew. We tried to make the best of it, but to no avail. Water pressure in the shower was next to nothing! And we thought about complaining to the front desk, but didn't want to have a confrontation with the clerk. Save your money and stay elsewhere! We were there for 2 nights with a group. The check in took ages even though all details had been transmitted in advance. The room was specially uncomfortable: no safe, the very small closet had sliding doors that didn't slide. The bathroom had doors that opened like in a saloon, making it almost impossible to use without hitting one's face. Nice sunset view. Very good massages (I recommend Kim). We had breakfast vouchers but they didn't apply to coffee strangely. First, the front desk was very disorganized. They offered us a handicapped room but when my friend stepped away from the desk to ask me, the front desk clerk gave the room to another person. We stayed a total of 4 days. The room was cleaned the fist day only. We complained when we returned to the hotel the second day at 9:00 pm and they brought us towels and coffee. The next night when we returned, same thing. No maid service. I have travelled extensively and have never had this happen twice. When I complained again, they said they would get us an answer. Of course, we never received an explanation. The reason you go to a hotel is because they clean it every day. Otherwise, we could have rented a house or condo. They only had two computers in the business center so it was rather difficult to check emails. The location was great, the front desk employees were okay at best, and the service was poor. I booked this hotel as part of a package on hotwire. I got a great price. Having said that, I was disappointed with treatment on check-in. Advised that parking was $22 per day, I found my own street parking for free less than 2 blocks away. When I arrived at checkin, I was asked if I wanted a king or doubles. This was in my reservation. When I asked if they were busy, the clerk said "to be honest, I have no idea". Yeah, right. What bothered me most was the uncaring, uncooperative, downright surly attitutd of the front desk staff. It came down to this issue: Upon check-in, I advised I was a priority club member and provided my card. Most Holiday Inn properties will give you a free breakfast. This one offered a choice of one day free wi-fi (not needed), $15.00 of free long distance calls (not needed) or 4 hours of free bike rental. I asked since we were 2, could we split the time up 2 hours for 2 bikes. I was told one hour on 2 bikes would be provided. When I tried to get the bikes at 7:20 AM on Sunday morning, I was told to see the cioncierge. HE told me one bike free, the other $15.00 or $7.00 per hour. I argued this was unfair, went to the front desk. The front desk clerk said, "just take the 2 bikes, we'll decided what we want to charge you when you get back." That's when, after further prodding, I received the above prices. I told them they could keep their bikes and we went for a walk instead. They could have cared less. Other than that, Redondo Beach is a cute beach town, next to Hermosa and Manhattan Beaches and a short drive to Malaga Cove and the Palos Verdes Peninsula. They're all beautiful areas. Check out Uncle Bill's for breakfast in Manhattan Beach. The room was decent. The bed comfortable, the shower good. Lighting was inadequate in the room and bathroom. They should learn how to smile here. Especially in these times. My husband and I booked a travel package to LA area thru Priceline.com. We got a package that included air, hotel and rental car. We found a great deal and jumped on it. I researched this location(Redondo Beach) and hotel and decided to choose this hotel from the list Priceline gave me. It was one of the cheaper hotels in the list, but still seemed nice,so I went with it. I was sold by the name(Crowne Plaza is a good hotel generally speaking),the pictures of the views(beachfront), location(outside the city but still accessible) and the price. PROS: The room. Nice, clean.Basic amenities such as fridge, coffeemaker, blow dryer, nice amount of towels given daily.(it was just the two of us,but daily we got at least 4 towels). The balcony was decent, but it wouldve been nice if there were 2 chairs. There was only 1,so we couldnt sit out there together. The beds and linens on the beds are really nice. Not at all scratchy or cheap feeling. The even give you a little package of linen spray, ear plugs(never needed them though. Our room was quiet) and an eye mask for a nice relaxing bed experience if you so desire. The location was really the best part. Right across the street from the pier, boardwalk, local shops and restaurants. We walked one day to Whole Foods and other local stores. It was also very accessible to other beaches, such as Hermosa, Manhattan, Marina Del Ray,Venice and Santa Monica. All are within walking/biking/rollerblading distance. A beachfront path connects them all, where you will find bikers ,rollerbladers, joggers, walkers, etc. One of the highlights of our trip was renting bikes one beach up,in Hermosa, and biking along the coast 20 miles roundtrip. It really was the PERFECT way to see the coast upfront and personal. More pros: If you are into the beach and the local sites more than you are into LA itself, this is a great location. Its far enough away from LA that you don’t have the craziness, but its still fun enough to feel like your own little beachy, laid back party. I highly recommend the LOCATION for a laid back beautiful visit. The hotel staff was more than helpful and very nice in accommodating my room preference. We ended up with a partial view, which was still really nice. I can imagine a full view would be just awesome. The hotel itself is clean and fairly modern. You feel like its a NICE hotel when you walk in. The pool and jacuzzi are really great. The pool is heated and the jacuzzi was really wonderful. CONS: Heres where it gets negative. I feel as an upscale(ish) hotel, certain amenities should be included. For instance, parking. Parking was 18$ a day. To me, that is outrageous, especially when other hotels just down the street(same street, same view!) offer free parking. Also, internet. Weve stayed at a DIVE of a hotel before and even they offer free wifi. The Crowne charged 10$ a day for wifi. To me, thats unheard of. (especially when the next door hotel offered free wifi) And lastly,(and the least of my annoyances)no continental breakfast. Granted,I doubt we wouldve used it everyday, but to at least have SOMETHING would be nice. MANY hotels that are more "lower scale" than the Crowne offer it. Heck, most ALL hotels have free wifi, parking and breakfast. And I know parking is commodity in CA, but it dumbfounded me to see the Crowne charge for it when next door(Best Western) they offered all of the above for free. Paying for the above things really increases your trip cost. We stayed for 5 nights and it cost us over 120$ for parking and wifi. Not to mention the breakfasts we bought b/c there was not breakfast at the hotel. So,in review, the hotel is nice, and well taken care of. If they didnt charge for the above mentioned items,I would stay there again in a heartbeat. But,given that other hotels, with the same views and same reputation for quality and value, offer the above for free,I will go elsewhere for my next visit. Probably the Best Western next door! This hotel was pretty nice! I was worried after reading the reviews here. The air conditioning situation did kind of suck. It WAS really stuffy in the room at all times BUT I didn't notice that the air went off!!? There WAS a sensor but it pretty much stayed on all the time! The staff was very curteous and nice! Especially the concierge. I dealt with Jesse alot and he was GREAT! Also there was a lady that worked the conceirge desk during the day and she was great too (but i didnt get her name)! DO NOT go to the spa. It is a waste of time and money and it didn't seem very clean to me. I have had better pedicures ANYwhere than there. Overall, the room was nice. It DID reek of smoke in the bathroom the entire time we were there (we had a non-smoking room) and we didn't smoke. Not sure where that was coming from but YUCK! The beds were GREAT! Nice and fluffy, etc! DO NOT waste your time going to Splash (the restaurant inside the hotel). It was VERY overrated and VERY expensive for what it was. There are much better restaurants within walking distance at half the price! I would reccomend staying here! I enjoyed my time! It definitely is NOT a 5 star like one other person noted on here but it IS a very nice 3!!!! This was a good hotel for our stay in Southern California. It was centrally located for our itinerary. We went down to Laguna Beach, over to Disneyland, up to Santa Monica, and saw a Lakers game. We also spent time at the Redondo Pier. The hotel lobby was nice and the staff friendly. You do have to pay to park here, which wasn't great. The pier was great for the kids and the restaurants were located conveniently. The hotel room itself is somewhat dated. It was nice, but on closer inspection was in need of repair. Nothing too distracting, but rust on the bathtub, torn wallpaper, dingy carpets. The housekeeping did a fair job, but was lacking. I travelled with three 17 year old young men and it worked out well. If I were travelling with my husband, I would not stay here, but with three boys, it was a good buy. The room was clean and quite nice. No complaints about the room quality. Hotwire's 3 star rating is accurate. Our room, #3026, was right above the hotel's loading dock. No need for a wake up call in this part of the hotel. You'll be awake by 6:30 am. The delivery/garbage trucks were very noisy. There is no LAX to hotel shuttle and a taxi costs about $25 one way. I rented a car for less than a taxi ride including the hotel's $16.00 per day parking charge. Our$69 rate was really $85. After taxes and parking it was a $99 room. We stayed only one night. You pay extra for things like internet access too. The staff was friendly and efficient. We really only needed a place for the night before our trip to Maui. We didn't take advantage of the hotel's amenities. It is a short walk to the marina and the many shops there. There were also a few restaurants there too. It was a good place to get a fresh fish lunch. Hotwire says it's 5.5 miles from LAX. It's really 7.5 miles. I would recommend the hotel at Hotwire's price, if there were a hotel shuttle to the airport. This is your average Crowne Plaza. We arrived at around 11PM. Check in was easy enough, and the gentleman checking us in was polite and answered all our questions. The room was clean & the beds were comfortable enough. We had a non-smoking room, but they have smoking rooms on the same floor, so the hallway reeked of cigarettes. They charge $16 per day to park in the parking garage which is also open to the public, so sometimes it was quite difficult to find a spot. Also, it is quite a trek to our room. They also have valet for $20. They also charge for internet. The more you pay for a room the more the nickel & dime you. Had a one night stay in march 2009. Booked with Hotwire for a very reasonable rate, otherwise my judgement would be even more worse. At check in the requested king non-smoking room wasn't available. I was offered an "upgrade" to an ocean-view room including continental breakfast (+ 30 $). Made a complaint at the manager and surprisingly now the requested room was available. Was short in time for an appointment, so I just threw the baggage into the room and left. Returned late night and unpacked my goods before I went into the bathroom. There I realized the big "surprise": Blood-stains on the wall under the sink, mould and damaged ceramic around the drain at the tub. All in all a very disgusting experience. I was guest of this hotel several times before - I agree that the interior is old and furniture is used, but at least all the rooms I had before were clean and rate (Hotwire) is overall a bargain. But next time I will stay somewhere else because of this bad experience. And as some photos from other user proofs, there must be more rooms at this hotel in the same bad condition. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach for one week. We actually reviewed this earlier, and promised to update after our stay was over. Pros: Location - fantastic, near every thing, and a great view. Loved the patio over looking the beach. Golds gym membership during stay. Large spacious room. Housekeeping and bellhop service staff - very nice. Comfortable bed. Small fridge in room. Cons: The first night we checked in we had all sorts of problems. We had e-mailed the hotel asking for a non smoking room (severe health problems) got to the hotel, and they said they had rooms but they were all dirty and the cleaning staff left for the night (at 8pm). We had a smoking room for one night - it was filthy. The next day they moved us - after we had to request cleaning ourselves to housekeeping! The director of reservations called us (after we posted a review on trip advisor) and apologized for the way we were treated, and said the hotel front desk staff would be re-trained. She gave us complimentary parking. She was very helpful. We were really upset by the situation... So much so that we have decided to work with a consumer action group to make sure that people are not forced into smoking rooms, because of the very high dangers of third hand smoke - the toxins in these hotel rooms are really high and VERY dangerous especially for pregnant women and children. This is definitely a smokers hotel. Every thing smells like smoke - through the hallways it smells like a college dorm. A mix of marijuana, cigarettes and alcohol. The rooms are in need of updating - we did see lots of new carpet rolled up in hallways and the parking garage, so hopefully that is exactly what they are doing. The bathroom drains did not work, and were in generally poor condition. There is a 10 dollar per day and per laptop charge for wi-fi. There is an 18 dollar per day charge for parking. (it should be noted that 3 other area hotels right next to the Crowne plaza offer free wi-fi and free parking. The front desk staff really needs some help. We've stayed in many hotels, and this by far had one of the worst front desk staffs. Any request we made seemed too much and as if we were bothering them. It has been my experience that problems like these stem from upper management and they way they treat their employees, and instruct them to treat their guests. With the decline of the hotel industry, it is no time to treat guests poorly, it really does make a difference. I hope that there is a revamping of how this Crowne Plaza handles customer service. With a few upgrades, and a few smiles this hotel could be a premier hotel in Redondo Beach - they just have a lot of steps to getting there. Keep in mind that if you book here you will have to pay up to 40 dollars more per day... for parking and Internet (if more than one of you are in the room) They even charge for Internet in the business center and lobby. The overall feeling is that it was probably a great hotel in the early 90's - and a great hotel for smokers. I'd try to find something else in the area - or if you can get the hotel for a very cheap rate - I would not pay anything over 70 dollars per night (with the surcharges for Internet and parking you will add a lot more to that). The Hotel lobby and the room are nice, clean, and somewhat a bit out of style. A hugh disappointment are the parking fee of $ 18 (are we in NY?) and the expensive breakfast, On top of that the Hotel did not inform us that our delayed bag arrived and it took them three days to let us know. By then we were out of the Hotel. Even a call with the Manager was unresponsive. Canceled the Hotel for the next trip and went to the favorite "Inn at Playa del Ray", The best Hotel in LA for lesser money! Never again Crown Plaza at Redondo Beach. I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world and some of the lower end hostels in the world. So I generally have a high tolerance for what I expect from accommodations. I have read the reviews of this hotel, most of them being good, and discounted the “whiners” posting bad reviews. I have never written a bad review of a hotel, and generally eschew writing bad reviews of anything. I was taught, “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything.” I have generally followed that advice, but I have to make an exception here. Everything that anyone says is good about this hotel is true. It’s in a good location – so is the Best Western, just across the street with free wifi. The staff is friendly. I didn’t eat in the restaurant, and you do need to go outside to get there. But at $270 rack rate, I would expect the room to be comfortable. Thankfully, we received enough discounts to make it comparable to the Best Western across the street. “What ruined my stay was the motion sensor Inncom thermostat that unless it sees motion turns the air conditioning off as several others have stated having a hot room.” This says it all. As long as you keep moving between the room and the bathroom, past the motion sensor, the air conditioner stays on. It is set to 70 degrees, which is fine for me, as that is generally where I set a hotel air conditioner when I go to bed. However, once you stop moving past the sensor, it turns off completely – like when you go to sleep. I am the type who can and will sleep through anything. Not here. We arrived late and retired around 1:30 am. By 6:15 am, it was 85 degrees in the room and stuffy. This was after I had awoken several times and got up to turn down the thermostat! Seriously, 85 degrees and less than 4-1/2 hours of sleep is not my idea of a vacation; on the other hand, we got up and out early. The second night, we found the sensor on the sliding glass door. Did I mention that if you open the sliding glass door that has no screen, it turns off the air conditioner? I can understand that if the air conditioner stayed on if one didn’t stand in front of the sensor waving one’s hand, but it doesn’t. So here’s the E-ticket. Push in the sensor on the sliding glass door with folded up paper. Set the fan on the air conditioner to low instead of auto. Leave the sliding glass door open while you sleep. It was 68 degrees the next morning, and we only had one moth in the room due to the lack of screen door. I think it is too close to the coast to breed mosquitoes, so you should be fine. Don’t get the bigger room at the corner, as the generator is on the first floor and goes off every half hour. This would be fine if you didn’t leave the door open, but if you need it cooler that 85 degrees to sleep, you will need the door open. Other than the room temperature, a very nice hotel. Would recommend it for people who are always cold. Very disappointed with property. Booked an Ocean View room only to find out that what you predominantly see is the roof. Ocean View is limited and only when you are on balcony. Air Conditioning has a motion sensor so goes off when you are (1) not in room and worse (2) when you are sleeping and don't activate the sensor. Room is hot. As the property is old, room had a very musty smell. Also, bathroom has some thin somethings that they pass off as doors that due not fully close. Check-In is at 4pm - somewhat late for a major chain. Front Desk and Valet staff very nice. We were part of a group and even with the discount, room was expensive for what it is. This hotel is right across the street from the Marina. The Pier is just down the street with an arcade and lots of restaurants. Great place for families. The hotel lobby was nice. Big aquaurium in the entrance. The staff was friendly. The rooms themselves I wasn't impressed with. We were traveling with a 1 year old. The bottom of the tub was rusted and decaying and the floors were disgusting. For location and ammenitis, this hotel is in a great spot, maybe if they just updated their cleaning schedule, they might make a better hotel. Well where do I start.....??? The resturant staff could use some lessons on customer service for sure but the desk staff was ok though. The room was just ok but what ruined my stay was the motion sensor Inncom thermostat that unless it sees motion turns the air conditioning off as several others have stated having a hot room. If you don't toss and turn in your sleep to set off the motion detector then expect to sweat all night long. If I pay for a room I want it at a temperature I select not what the hotel selects. The hotel is in a good location but needs updating bad. You must walk outside to the resturant etc.... I really don't have any good things to say about the hotel. When my wife and I made our annual pilgrimage to the Los Angeles area last summer, we ran into a lot of competition for hotel rooms - the calendar plopped the 4th of July holiday smack in the middle of the week, which meant that all sorts of people were creating long weekends on either side of the holiday, while others (like us) were kicking back for the entire week. My wife did a lot of searching before she managed to get a reservation for Saturday and Sunday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, adjacent to the marina in Redondo Beach. We've experienced mixed results at Crowne Plaza properties in the past, with the negative (or at best the "ho-hum") outweighing the positive. However, during a crowded holiday week, we didn't feel like we had the option of being too picky. Our visit did not have an auspicious beginning. After a long day of driving, we arrived at the hotel around 5 pm on Saturday evening and were told that our reserved king room was not yet available and that it would be another 30-45 minutes before it would be ready. We looked around the rather featureless lobby and told the reception clerk that we'd just schlep our bags to the seating area and wait until our room was ready. The smart thing for the employee to do at this point would have been to offer us a couple of comped drinks, or direct us to the lounge, or something... anything to acknowledge our inconvenience. He did nothing. We waited. After 45 minutes I went back to the reception desk and inquired on the status of our room. It was ready, and from the clerk's reaction (a different clerk), evidently had been ready for some time. No one bothered to notify us, although we were seated within plain view of the reception desk. Anyway, we grumbled and hauled our bags to our 5th floor room. Upon entering, it was clear that our request (and payment) for a water view had been overlooked... or had it? At the extreme right side of our small set of windows, a guest, standing on tiptoe and peering in just the right direction, might spy, through a maze of wires, over a busy boulevard and a rooftop, the glint of water reflecting among the sailboats moored at the Redondo Marina. A brief call to the front desk confirmed that ours was indeed a "water view" room. Rooms actually overlooking the water have some other term and a higher price. Speaking of price, this isn't a cheap stay. Our Saturday night cost $219 (plus $20 for parking), and Sunday was a bit better at $199. While our room wasn't overtly objectionable, neither was it in any way memorable. The Holiday Inn chain has invested in comfortable beds in all levels of its properties - not a bad concept at all, in my opinion - and the Crowne Plaza beds are about the best of the bunch. Ours was soft and supportive, topped with a feather duvet that was too warm unless we cranked the wall-mounted air conditioning unit to its highest level. The rest of the room was a faded reflection of early 90s semi-luxe: with the exception of the bed, the furnishings were worn and tattered - not in an egregious or obvious way, but in a more subtle and, ultimately, more depressing way. Linens, furniture, and accessories were all functional but outdated and tired. Beyond the value proposition (which, at north of $200/night, is pretty dismal), there was a palpable feeling of shabbiness at this hotel which we were happy to leave behind when we checked out. Housekeeping is sketchy - our room was indifferently made up, and every time we walked the hallway to our room I noticed random bits of debris... a scrap of paper, old room service items, various trashy odds and ends. It was not as if the hallways were overflowing with crud, but neither did they come remotely close to conveying the sense of spit and polish one associates with well-maintained properties. Service was equally blase - again, not overtly bad, but more or less perfunctory. Let's say I did not go broke tipping folks for their exemplary service. Overall, the Redondo Beach Crowne Plaza is not a property that I'd recommend. It's in serious need of upgrading in almost all respects. If your travels take you to the South Bay region in Los Angeles, I would suggest there are many better lodging options. Happenings at the Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach Hotel 1. Upon arrival there was no room reservations for the wife and me* Was told to have a seat in the lounge area, and they would deal with our problem later. Forty five minutes later we were still waiting no one really was concerned! This is not acceptable. 2. A room was finally found. We tried to enter the room and it was occupied.* The front desk found my wife’s name as an occupant of this room. 3. Another room was found and we checked in. 4. Our room was not cleaned on the third day. Someone had placed a do not disturb sign on our door and housekeeping complied. In fact they left a voice message on the phone indicating they were ready to clean the room when we returned. I tried to retrieve the message using the instructions on the phone and could not. I called the front desk and they sent a person to help. He could not or would not explain how I was to know that by pressing 55 on the keyboard I could retrieve the message. Anyway house keeping came by left us some clean towels, coffee, and soap. I mentioned the dial 55 mystery to the front desk along with an inability to set the clock radios in our room. The response--, yea we know. No one can set the clocks and maybe we should say something about the 55 issue. 5. 2:00 AM 1 January. Fire alarm. Drunks in the hall.* 6. 2 January returned to room around noon; couldn’t open door. Housekeeping said we had checked out. Front desk said all 100 on tour were scheduled for checkout on the 2nd. Re-keyed my cards, house cleaning cleaned the room and life went on.* 7. 3 January 4:20 AM. The bell man started picking up luggage. Scheduled time was 5:00 AM* Luggage was taken to the lobby, segregated by floor and not moved to or loaded on the bus.* The hotel is a beautiful facility at an ideal location. Although we enjoyed our stay it was far from outstanding. A redefined focus on the customer as someone other than a money source might help! . The Crowne Plaza has so much unachieved potential that it is truly sad. With the proper management, it could be turned into a solid 4 star property, but with its current phantom staff, it rates about a 2, including generous bonus points for free Gold's Gym access and the lovely Maria Elena, its stellar chief concierge. The property is situated across the street from the Redondo Beach marina, so it has more of a sailing vessel than ocean ambience, with rather distant Pacific views from the 2nd floor pool terrace and some rooms without obstructions on higher floors. You have to walk about 10 minutes to hear the surf at the marina boarwalk, south of the hotel, as there is a barrier wall encasing the marina. The lobby of the Crowne Plaza is rather ornate, with a fish tank and large floral arrangements adorning tables with huge mirrors. The bellhops and outdoor staff might as well be mute, however, and they seem to have their eyes permanently cast towards the ground. The room to which I was assigned on the third floor on the southernmost part of the building was overlooking the pool and had an ocean view from the balcony. However, the rat trap and hundreds of cigarette butts sitting in the balcony's foliage immediately turned me off to sitting on the rather old, cheap chairs outside. I subsequently felt a need to monitor possible rodent entry when I was forced to open the unscreened balcony door to cool down the room. It was typical LA fall weather, with warm, sunny days and cool nights, but the Crowne Plaza keeps its "auto" override to any thermostat setting you choose at a constant 74 degrees, rendering the room rather stuffy and uncomfortable. The bathroom doesn't have a fan, so I had to leave the balcony door open in order not to get a sauna effect when I showered. The room's furnishings were worn, the towels rough and thin, the beds weren't very comfortable, and the carpet appeared dirty, with dust accumulations in all the corners. The double bed I didn't use had a very apparent blood stain on the bedskirt. The Zenith TV was outdated, though the movie selection was very good. The rainforest shower was installed so low that I had difficulty positioning it at 5'9"; I only wondered what sort of contortions a tall man would suffer to use this improperly placed upgrade. A retractable clothesline was a nice touch for sink-laundered gym clothes and bathing suits, and I noticed a sign for a guest laundry on the second floor. The spa on the 2nd floor was staffed by nice enough non-English-speaking women who just didn't have the proper manner or touch. Privacy is a real issue, as the staff person had to escort me in a flimsy robe across the main hotel corridor to the pool locker rooms to shower off a body polish. Services seemed inexpensive, but the quality of the staff is way below what one would expect at a good spa. Exfoliation scrubs felt like sandpaper, and the uncomfortable massage I received left me with bruises. Plus, the masseusse used my session to complain about the greedy owner, rendering the session way less than relaxing. She didn't even thank me when I wrote an 18% gratuity on my credit card receipt, as if she deserved more for her less than professional service. The Gold's Gym next door adjacent to the parking garage is the best part of a Crowne Plaza stay. I took three classes while I was there, all gratis, and the broad range of equipment is great for individual workouts as well. The best feature is that it's opened 24/7, so that jet-lagged easterners can use it on their own biorhythms while they adjust to Pacific time. You can even get a class schedule online to plan your visit, with classes ranging from step to yoga, power sculpting to spinning. They had a kid's waiting room as well. The concierge, Maria Elena, was knowledgeable and very friendly, but when she wasn't on duty, her staff ranged from curt to inept. The concierge desk also maintains tennis racquets, and the gift shop sells cans of balls if you wish to utilze the court adjacent to the small pool on the second floor. The small jacuzzi was dingy and uninviting, and like the pool, in need of a painting. A huge sundeck had strappy white chaises and lots of wasted space, as it sits on top of the garage. Nearby is the pier and boardwalk, with a small beach amidst mostly ships. I was encouraged to walk towards Hermosa Beach for a better beach-walking experience, but I never found the time. Across from the hotel is a Ruby's [California ice cream diner], a Cheesecake Factory and an Italian restaurant. There are more at the pier. On the last morning of my stay, I smelled a very odiferous stench of marijuana when I walked by the room next to the elevator, and when I alerted the front desk, I was told security would check into it, but the clerk seemed thoroughly unmoved by the disclosure. Considering small children were having to linger next to the elevator bank, this situation was neither pleasant nor classy. I got the hotel through my rock bottom priceline bid. If I had paid the $189 rack rate quoted to a walk-in couple I overheard, I definitely would have felt taken. An abundance of airline personnel stay at the property, and many local parties are conducted in the ballrooms, both of which must supply steady sources of revenue. The general staff members were unfriendly and underwhelming in all respects, and I was charged $3 for a couple minutes in the business center, which I found was the 15 minute rate. They do not charge for printing boarding passes, however. Oh, and the $16 a night parking charge was a bit outrageous, but there is really no convenient alternative on the street, as the hotel, parking garage and gym consume a huge block, and marina parking is monitored. The travel time to LAX is probably under 15 minutes, and I got to the USC campus, just south of downtown, in about 35 minutes most attempts. However, there are many better priceline values at true 4- star choices downtown and in other LA areas, so I would explore those before staying at the Crowne Plaza ever again. My family and I stopped at this hotel on the last day of a holiday. We reserved non-smoking and I ensured they were non-smoking when checking in. Upon entering each of the two rooms the balcony doors were open so we didn't suspect anything. We closed the doors and went out for dinner. On returning the rooms were very much smoking and smelled like an smoking lounge, disgusting. Of course the hotel staff couldn't possibly move us since they claimed to be full. My family had to sleep in these cess pit sof rooms, the next day we and all of our stuff stunk of cigarette smoke. When checking out I complaoned bitterly, the staff didn't want to know, in fact they blanked me completely. When the receptionist finally answered she said it was designated non-smoking. She wouldn't come to the room to smell it. She was a liar with a terrible attitude. I have never endured hotel staff this bad DO NOT STAY HERE EVER, in my opinion this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in any where in the world, including 3rd world hotels. We stayed at this hotel over the Thanksgiving holiday. It may have been just our room, but the condition of the room was shocking. There were numerous carpet stains, a large hole in the carpet, and the area around the bathtub drain was disgusting. I travel very frequently for work and this was by far the worst room I have ever stayed in. My wife and I couldn't wait to check-out the following day... This hotel is in desperate need of an overhaul! Overall I was very disappointed with my stay. The lobby was beautiful and the staff was somewhat friendly. I made my reservations online and booked a water view room, the only view I had was of the street. It was very nosy. There was no remote control for the tv in the room, I had to call and request one. One of the lamps was not working. The furniture was very old and damaged. There was a dirty/rust spot in the bathtub/shower. The chairs were old and dirty. I wish I would have brought my camera with me so I could provide pictures. The reception on the TV was terrible and all the channels did not work for the whole stay. There were hours when channels like the Disney channel and HBO did not work. It was very stuffy in the room. 2 night stay, $200/night and room NEVER cleaned. Called the front desk and was actually ASKED if I wanted my room cleaned! NEVER asked how my stay was at checkout. Go to the Best Western across the street.....at least the WiFi is free Stayed here as part of a hotel package. I travel a lot and even with the discounted rate, I feel that this hotel is overpriced and provides zero service. We had a "view room" that looked straight down on multiple dumpsters. If you stood on your tiptoes, you could see the edge of the water through a fence surrounding tennis courts. The entire time we where there they were unable to make us a second room key (even though everytime we asked over the course of TWO DAYS they said the problem was going to be fixed imminently). I think its pretty telling when a hotel of this size is not even able to make copies of keys for their guests. We called room service to orders pizzas for a wedding party group and the kitchen told us one pizza served one person and that our four pizzas would be up in 25 minutes. 45 minutes later we called and they said that actually the oven would only cook one pizza and it took 30 minutes per pizza. Upon receiving these, they fed 2-3 people each and we were left with two throw away pizzas (that with service charges cost about $30 each). We called down to the front desk to get small items that our room did not include -- iron, bottle opener, and everytime they made us walk downstairs to retrieve these ourselves. $16/day for parking is ridiculous in Redondo Beach and the garage is very poorly laid out. A trip from the top floor of the garage to our room involved 3 flights of stairs and two separate elevators. We had friends staying across the street at the Best Western. While their rooms are dated, stay there instead and don't waste your money on this place. | ||||
