Here on business.

Brand new hotel, very well furnished.

Room service food excellent. Amenities, wonderful!

Get a room with a view of the lake, it feels like you are at the ocean! You can watch the ships come into port as well.

Sunrise into the window, off Lake Superior.

Also, Starbucks coffee in the room. :)

I would recommend this to any business traveler.

5 of 5  Great Stay, A TripAdvisor Member, Cumberland, Wisconsin, October 5, 2008

Enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton. The beds are wonderful. Nice large room with all the amenities-we were not on the lakeside.

Did not use the pool/fitness areas and did not eat at the restaurant. We walked down to Fitgers for dinner/drink, walked back and had drinks across the street at the Irish Pub and had one drink at the lobby bar before retiring for the evening. The next morning, we walked the lakefront and had breakfast at Amazing Grace Bakery & Cafe.

I agree with a previous reviewer about the charge for internet - most nicer hotels do not charge anymore. Think they need to review their policy.

The only bad thing about this hotel was the long walk to your car, but hey, the parking was free!!

5 of 5  Great Hotel. Very few minuses!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Michigan, September 3, 2008

I am here on business as usual. I rarely get to stay at such fancy hotels, but here I am! This is my 4th stay in the matter of two months. This is a really nice hotel overall. The beds are soooooo comfortable and the staff is all too eager to please. Its a hop skip and jump from the casino, Fitgers, and the Riverwalk so those are huge in my book. I got a lake view room my first time and normal rooms the next two times. I say save your money for the lake view, but that is just me. You can walk out of the hotel and see the lake just fine. The rooms have double french door bathrooms, flat screen TV's (HD and they take FOREVER to change the channel), and tons of spreading out space. Room service is great here for when you are trapped in your hotel room doing work, and the skywalk is super convenient if you have to get to the hospital for business or visiting reasons. Parking is free too!!

Drawbacks:

Teeeny tiny pool. No laps can be done in this bad boy. However the workout facility here is pretty decent for a hotel. I find the in room coffee horrible here. Its bitter and sick and they do not even come close to giving you enough cream to make it okay. Its some Kitmantu stuff from African Starbucks or something. No continental breakfast (I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about). The restaurant (301) is over-priced and the service is very slow. If you decide to eat breakfast, bring 25 bucks and make sure you have a good hour and a half. They have a ghastly wine selection here. You can only drink one Cabernet, one Merlot, or one Chardonney by the glass. Give me a break!! Isn't this a Sheraton????

Don't come for the food and drink. You will be broke and dissatisfied. Plan on walking to the Mexican restaurant next door or to Pickwicks and Fitgers a couple blocks down. You can walk to the casino so that is pretty sweet. The bed and ambience of the rooms are definitely top notch too.

5 of 5  Loved it!, A TripAdvisor Member, Chicago, May 22, 2008

We absolutely loved this hotel and I stay at many Sheratons. The staff was extremely helpful and the rooms were amazing. Defintely worth the lake view!

5 of 5  Loved the Sheraton, A TripAdvisor Member, Manitoba, May 4, 2008

stayed here for work and they were fantastic. Callie and Leslie are the best. The only complaint was that my room was cold and it took forever to get it to 70 and i still found it cool.

5 of 5  Extremely professional and great attention to detail, A TripAdvisor Member, Minneapolis MN, February 21, 2008

By far, the best hotel I have stayed at in Duluth . Far superior to the Radisson which tend to have similar pricing. Extremely professional staff, excellent attention to detail, excellent all-round service.

5 of 5  Great hotel and short walk to St Mary's Hospital, A TripAdvisor Member, minnesota, January 7, 2008

Had to find a hotel close to St Mary's Hospital for the family (mom going in for surgery) - dad left with 2 young kids for a multiple night stay. Surgery was at the beginning of January, so having the skywalks for back and forth travel were a big plus (not having to get the kids bundled up to get into a cold car and then deal with parking at hospital, etc). Yes, it's a 15-20 minute walk from the Sheraton, but still worth it.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn't use the restaurant downstairs (because of the age of our kids), but looked nice and inviting. Room was clean & adequate (traditional room) on 5th floor. Would have preferred a chest of drawers in the room (as opposed to just a place for hanging clothes) for all the kid stuff (clothes, toys, etc). I would have to agree with a previous post about the air blowing (sometimes it felt cold, sometimes hot...but blowing right over the bed at night it seemed). Bathroom was spacious, a few more hooks to hang things would have been helpful (there was only one hook). Small pool was perfect for our 2 kids and dad to spend some time together. Beds were comfortable.

Unloaded in front of hotel (as previous post had mentioned too) when we got there and parked the car (never moving it again until we left).

Oh, and husband now wants to buy a new flat panel TV ;o)

Great Place for the money!

5 of 5  Great Stay, A TripAdvisor Member, Minnesota, January 7, 2008

Our party of four stayed from 12/30-1/1/08. the service was extraordinary. Chad and the front desk manager went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and fun! The shuttle service was greatly appreciated. We loved the lounge and fire place. Very comfortable.

5 of 5  Highly recommend this hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, MetroChicago, December 31, 2007

My family just spent 4 days at this hotel. We stayed on the 6th floor, club level. Nice continental breakfast and good hors d'oeuvres in the evening. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff available for your every need. Our family's only complaint is with the HVAC system: difficult to regulate thermostat, so it was often either too cold or too hot; also it seemed like wind was blowing over you at night since the air came through the vent at high pressure; very dry too. I don't know what the hotel can do about the HVAC system, but the air was uncomfortably dry, windy, and not always a comfortable temperature. Pretty view of Lake Superior and the lift bridge from the lake side of the hotel. I would stay at this hotel again, but would try to figure out how to work the heating system better so that the air isn't blowing on me all night.

5 of 5  Nice hotel in downtown, unusual parking, A TripAdvisor Member, Minneapolis, MN, November 15, 2007

This hotel is pretty newly opened and very nice. Look is modern yet comfortable with lots of wood in the lobby so as to be "warm" and not so modern that it seems unwelcoming. Hotel bar was just off the lobby, so very welcoming and visible. I did not use the restaurant onsite, but what I saw looked fine.

Room also was very nice, comfortable beds, nice bathroom with ceramic tile designed to give a "30's/40's" look and feel but still very modern. Light switches a little odd but nothing unbearable.

Parking is a little odd. I would strongly recommend stopping in front of the hotel on Superior Street (you can park on the street for up to 15 minutes) and unload luggage first. The Front Desk then gives you parking info in the ramp behind the hotel (shares parking with the hospital). If you decide to park first, you will need to take luggage through the ramp and through other elevators/hallways to get to the hotel - not very convenient.

Downtown itself has yet to offer a lot for things to do, but the hotel is pretty near Canal Park with the bridge and all its tourist attractions, so location is still pretty good.

Overall, a great choice for a hotel stay in Duluth.

5 of 5  Great hotel! Even if the lighting switches are odd..., A TripAdvisor Member, Vancouver, November 14, 2007

I stayed at this hotel a couple of times over the last few months.

Excellent hotel facilities for business travellers! The hotel is new. My room was great with comfortable bed, good lighting and fixtures, air conditioning and best of all, a very large desk that really lets you spread out and get some work done. Wireless internet service worked well. The lighting switches are a little odd as are the handles on the sliding shower doors, but these were small issues. I am annoyed these days when my towels and soaps are replaced every day – not necessary and if anyone from the Sheraton Duluth is reading this email, you might want to think about an eco-friendly approach here.

The staff was very attentive and friendly. For example I was sitting in the foyer/lobby area waiting for a colleague, and a hotel staff member asked me if I’d care for a coffee while I waited. Nice touch. Having said that, because the hotel is new they are still trying to balance the staff loads. Service at the restaurant for instance, although very friendly, was painfully slow.

The food for breakfast was good and for lunch was really very good; did not try it for dinner.

I recommend this hotel!

Safe travels - thedonk

5 of 5  Wonderful!, A TripAdvisor Member, Minneapolis, October 22, 2007

We stayed at the Sheraton Duluth for 2 nights. We booked a room on the 6th Floor, Club Level. The hotel opened in June of this year. It is just a short walk to Canal Park and we had a great view of Lake Superior.

We called the hotel at 12:15 in the afternoon and asked if we could check in early. Check in time was at 3 PM. The woman was very nice and said we could check in right away. We arrived at the hotel and were quickly checked in.

The room was very clean and I am VERY picky about hotel rooms.

If you stay on the club level, continental breakfast and evening hor's dourves are included.

We will definitely be back again soon!

5 of 5  Nice stay, A TripAdvisor Member, minneapolis,mn, June 25, 2007

We stayed here this past weekend and we loved it. I am nervous to stay at properties that have no reviews yet since I always go off of what others say on Tripadvisor but when I called the hotel and realized it is a brand new hotel I figured it is worth a try.

I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself is very clean and nicely decorated in the evening they even had fresh flowers out and candles lit.

We had a standard king room. It had a nice sweet sleeper bed, a huge desk and leather chair. It also had a 32" lcd tv with hd channels. The bathroom was really nice and decorated like it was out of a beautiful old hotel, the shower was really nice and there was no bathtub.

The hotel is in a good location and you can walk to all the fun bars, casino and canal park and if you are to tired there is a shuttle to pick you up or bring you anywhere within 3 miles. When you check-in they give you the shuttle drives business card and we just called and he was there 10 minutes later.

This is really nice because the only downfall of this property is the parking situation, it is free but it is way behind the hotel and kinda of a haul thru a skyway to the hotel (so bring your bags to your room when you check -in and then go park).

So all in all this is probally our new hotel when we visit Duluth which is about 3 times a year.

4 of 5  Great Staff But..., A TripAdvisor Member, St. Paul, MN, September 27, 2008

I won a free two-night weekend stay at this hotel. It was a pleasant surprise and, overall, I enjoyed my stay. The staff was most impressive. Being a flight attendant, I stay at many hotels and it's rare that I meet such wonderful, helpful, and friendly people (Then again, I am a geocacher. I was VERY impressed that the two gentleman working the front desk the Sat. night that I was there even knew what that meant! Kudos to you both:-)

Despite what others have mentioned and the fact that I was across from the elevators, I didn't have too much of a problem with noise. I'm, usually, a very light sleeper. Then again, I was probably to blame for someone else's noise since my TV was on late into the night (Hurricane Ike was invading TX and I have friends who live there.) During the day, I was out and about.

My biggest problems were the internet, the pool, the pet policy, and the parking lot.

I HATE being charged for internet access! Not in 2008. That and it wasn't a very strong signal when I finally did give in and pay.

The pool was non-existent, at least in my eyes. I had looked forward to relaxing in the hot tub but EGADS! It was tiny and the room reeked of chlorine. i would've had a headache in a manner of seconds.

As for the pet policy, I admire a hotel that doesn't even charge a damage deposit for guests who bring pets. However, it'd be nice to tell the other guests of this and ask if they mind being in a room near a pet. My room was next door to a room that housed TWO dogs. Thankfully, they never barked.

Finally, the parking lot. As a solo traveler, I was a bit nervous walking from the lot to my room. It's quite a hike, especially late at night. I didn't feel entirely safe and would've appreciated an escort (especially Sat. night when two men solicited me).

Overall, though, I had a pleasant stay and wouldn't hesitate for a moment to stay here again.

4 of 5  Excellent Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Stuttgart, August 26, 2008

Room was very noisy, you could hear the ice maker and all the people outside of the room.

parking fee for the garage was included in the rate.

Breakfast was as a buffet and excellent

4 of 5  Really nice hotel in a fantastic location, A TripAdvisor Member, Texas, June 20, 2008

I stayed at this hotel for one night, and I found it to be a really nice choice for exploring Duluth! The rooms are very comfy, with very nice beds, desks overlooking Lake Superior (get the Lake view; otherwise, I would imagine that your room overlooks a parking garage), flat screen TVs, and very nice showers. There were two small kinks that I experienced that I should mention. One is that the room was very warm; I visited in the summer, and my room temp was always in the high 70s, even though I had the A/C set much lower. No matter how much I tried, the room would not cool down. The second thing was that the hotel seemed rather understaffed. At one point I needed something, and it took two calls to get someone to address the problem; I was surprised to get such slow service at a Sheraton. However, everyone was very nice and friendly, and the overall comfort of the bed, extreme cleanliness of the room, Bliss bath products, and outstanding location in a wonderful and unique city made staying here very enjoyable. I highly rec the Sheraton for anyone staying in Duluth! I will definitely stay there again if I need a hotel in the area in the future.

4 of 5  Really great, A TripAdvisor Member, Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 9, 2008

My husband and I wanted to try a weekend get-away with our two small kids (3 and 1). Daunting, I know, but we thought we'd try. The Sheraton was perfect for us. We got a good rate for a room on the club floor, which was helpful since it meant we had access to a pretty decent continental breakfast starting at 6:30 AM (good fruit, Yoplait, breads and rolls, Starbucks coffee, cereals and granola) and snacks in the PM (fruit, cheese, really good chicken wings, cookies, Starbucks and Pepsi products). We also escaped to the club room throughout the day to keep one or the other child occupied. The hotel staff were very kid-friendly and welcoming. I ordered a crib and roll-away ($10 extra) in advance, and both were set up in our room when we arrived. The staff were genuinely friendly and inquired several times as to whether we were enjoying ourselves or needed anything. The room itself was nice: newly remodeled in a very attractive style (kind of a modern Colonial). It was a little cramped with the two additional beds, but that isn't surprising. We had a great view of the harbor. The bathroom was beautiful. The room was clean and in great shape. One thing that would've made it even better is if the windows could open, but that's a minor complaint. The other thing I might mark as a minus is that the pool is small, and the most shallow spot was more than three feet deep (i.e., not great for little kids). But it was very clean and well-maintained. Parking was just around the corner in a garage and free. Room service staff were prompt and helpful. The hotel is at one end of the historic downtown area; Fitgers is just down the block and the wonderful Lakewalk boardwalk is a quick three-five minute walk away. The walk to Canal Park is about a ten minute leisurely stroll. I prefer being able to get away from the touristy crowds when needed, so the Sheraton was a great location for us.

4 of 5  Amazing Beds, A TripAdvisor Member, Hager City, WI, April 21, 2008

The beds were amazingly comfortable. Front desk employee - Rebekah did a great job when the computers weren't working and guests were way backed up and angry - thanks so much Rebekah for keeping your cool and remaining so professional. Parking was not the handiest as I read in previous reviews, but knowing this ahead of time was very helpful. In the bathroom it would have been nice to have a table or something to put your overnight bag on - lack of table space. An area that we thought could use some work was the Shuttle Service. All in all it was a great 3 nights and we will be staying again.

4 of 5  Nice Easter weekend, A TripAdvisor Member, North Dakota, March 29, 2008

We enjoyed our stay....very nice bed and nice TV. We had a lake view room on the 5th floor which was great. And a wonderful young lady at reception had someone go out and buy some peptobismal for my husband as he was feeling ill. I also think they charged us a very fair price for it. The only complaint was that they had some garbage left in the bathroom garbage can when we arrived. I did write that on the comment card and received a prompt email when we got home that they had housekeeping staff notified so it would not happen again. Everyone was very friendly. It was a little more than I usually spend on hotels ($169 per night) but worth the price to have a nice hotel stay.

4 of 5  Great old style architecture, A TripAdvisor Member, Shoreview, March 6, 2008

Great new hotel in "Old Downtown". It reminds me of the grand

hotels of the old days with lots of dark wood, it has a warm at-

mosphere which is a plus in Duluth. The rooms were very

comfortable and the bathrooms have a historical look with lots

of detailed ceramic and marble. The food at the restaurant was

excellent which is something lacking in most hotel restaurants.

( I heard it changed hands recently) I hope they keep it up. That

part of Downtown has improved a lot in recent years and the

Sheraton Hotel is a big part of that renaissance ( I moved from

Duluth to the Twin Cities ten years ago). Iwould definately stay

there again.

4 of 5  Great Downtown Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Ontario, February 25, 2008

My family stayed here for 2 nights in February. The rooms were very nice, complete with flat screen TV and a gorgeous, roomy bathroom. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. They advised us of their free shuttle service to locations in Duluth and we used it to go to the nearby Omnimax.

We did not take advantage of the dining room, but it seemed to be quite busy in the morning and for dinner. There is complimentary Starbucks coffee and tea available in the lobby in the morning, and in the rooms. We had breakfast at a small restaurant in the Fitgers Inn down the street.

There was a bit of a hike to get to the covered parking, but there was no charge and we didn't find it too inconvenient.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again. It would be a great place to stay in the summer as Canal Park is not far and there are a number of shops close by.

4 of 5  NO problems, A TripAdvisor Member, Minnesota, November 18, 2007

Parking is a bit of an issue, but we didn't move our car until we left.

This was a short trip for my wife to just get away for a couple of days.

Nice decor and nice staff, we will go back.

4 of 5  Great option in Duluth, A TripAdvisor Member, Minnesota, October 28, 2007

We stayed at this hotel for one night in October 2007. We usually stay in the Canal Park area, however, this was a last-minute decision since we wanted to see the Ship of Ghouls for Halloween (also highly recommended!).

We stayed on the 6th Floor (Club level). The rooms were nicely appointed - the bathroom was gorgeous (I don't often make special note of the bathrooms) with french doors, nice toiletries, and plenty of room (alot more than most hotels) for getting ready for the day. The rest of the room had beautiful furniture, nice pictures of regional attractions and landscaping, and was very clean.

The only thing the room lacked was an in-room safe.

The view of Lake Superior and the Aerial lift bridge is nice - it was a nice change in perspective from the Canal Park hotel rooms. The hotel is on Superior Street, across from a restaurant/pub and a bunch of businesses. We didn't try the hotel's restaurant or bar, but they both looked nice.

One thing that we didn't care for was the parking situation - although there are plenty of spaces available and a nice view of Lake Superior from the skyway to the parking lot, the parking lot is very far away. I suppose that this isn't the fault of the hotel since it is in fact in a busy downtown area, but if you have special needs or alot of luggage you may want to pull up to the front entrance to drop off /check-in before parking or stay somewhere that is more easily accessible.

The proximity of the hotel is within a couple minutes drive of the big Duluth attractions which wasn't a big deal for us. If you don't want to have to bother with driving and parking I would recommend staying on Canal Park, but if driving and parking doesn't bother you than this is a very nice hotel and a great addition to lodging choices in Duluth. We would definitely stay here again.

3 of 5  Nice hotel and location, but overpriced, A TripAdvisor Member, Duluth, MN, November 21, 2008

The appeal of the Sheraton in Duluth is that it's furnishings are new and the location is great.

My wife and I stayed recently and overall we thought the hotel was nice. The room was small, but clean, and the staff was friendly. Parking can be an issue if you mind walking a bit, but most of the walk is in the skywalk and the hotel itself, so it's not as bad as a long walk outside in the cold/rain/etc...

My only real criticism of this hotel is the price, but that is "the norm" in Duluth. The cost of living in Duluth is far too high for the standard of living, which helps explain the negative population growth that the area has experienced.

3 of 5  Nice hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Lawrence, Kansas, August 17, 2008

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights last week while vacationing in Duluth. The hotel is very nice, clean, and well-kept. Everything looks new. Besides this, the best part about this hotel is its location - it's right downtown, near the lake, and is close to Fitgers and some good restaurants. Also, this hotel allows pets, which is a big plus for us.

Drawbacks: We got a "lake view" room, but the view wasn't particularly good. We could see the lake out the corner of the window. There is very little counterspace in the bathroom, and no tub. Also, the pool was very small. I was going to use it one day, but when I went, there was one person in the pool and it didn't look like there would be enough room, so that is very small.

All in all, it was a nice hotel. I would recommend it and stay there again.

3 of 5  Good Hotel with quirks, A TripAdvisor Member, Minnesota, August 14, 2007

We stayed at this Hotel in August 2007 partly because it was new to Duluth. The room was well equipped and offered a fair lake view. The hotel only occupies the first 6 floors of the tower with luxury condos on the top six floors, so your lake view is limited even from the upper floors of the hotel. (The 6th floor is the club/lounge floor).

The biggest drawback is the hotels parking situation. It shares a ramp with a nearby hospital and you room key gets you free parking, but... If you don't drop your bags at the front door before you go and park, you will have about two blocks of hallways to drag your bags through before reaching an elevator that will take you to the hotel's lobby, and only to the lobby. Once there you need to cross the lobby to a different bank of elevators that take you to the rooms. Even dropping your bags at the front door can be a problem because there is only a small amount of space on the street to pull your car up in that can hold two or maybe three cars as a time. Then as I said you need to drop your bags and come back for them since there is no valet to take your car. Obviously this is no big deal if you arrive by taxi and don't have to worry about a car, but a bit of a hassle for those with cars to park.

The restaurant service was very good, but the menu was only average. The front desk check in took way to long, but I'm willing to assume this is because they were new and are still learning the system, I would expect that it will get quicker if it hasn't already.

So my recap is that it a good hotel for those without cars, for those whose business/convention is at the hotel or for those who are there to go to the hospital. For those on vacation, you can walk to Canal Park but it is a few blocks through a less than great area, so if Canal Park is where you want to go, book a hotel on Canal Park.

Lastly, I am a Starwood Gold member and have got room upgrades in the past. Here I was told that only Platinum members qualify for access to the club lounge. This may be a change in Starwood I hadn't noticed before, or it could be because of the newer staff. I honestly will have to check with SPG's agents before I can say for sure they made a mistake.

2 of 5  Some nice amenities, but questionable quality, A TripAdvisor Member, Minneapolis, September 22, 2008

A friend and I stayed at the Sheraton in Duluth the weekend of 9/21. The lobby and room were well appointed but there were problems throughout the stay.

The good:

1. Room was very clean and comfortable.

2. Food at the restaurant (301) was good.

3. The doorman/shuttle driver was very helpful and courteous.

4. Free shuttle to nearby locations upon request.

The not-so-good:

1. Check-in was cumbersome and there were long lines and long waits to check in.

2. The room keys repeatedly did not work and had to be reprogrammed multiple times.

3. I was incorrectly billed due to an error by their staff and now have to deal with accounting to straighten this out.

4. The rooms are noisy. The hallways are like echo chambers and every little noise carries - screaming kids, doors slamming. Forget any sleep after 7AM. Additionally, on the lake side, there is some noise from traffic.

I would not be inclined to choose this hotel again for my next stay in Duluth.

2 of 5  Beware of upcharges..., A TripAdvisor Member, Minneapolis, Minnesota, January 31, 2008

Booked into this new Sheraton hotel on an un-named web travel spot for a great price. However when I checked in I was told I could only stay in the back side of the hotel unless a paid a $20 per night upcharge. When I extended my stay an extra night, rather than allowing me to remain in my $20 extra per night lakeside room as a courtesy, they reassigned me to a room overlooking the parking ramp. When I asked if they needed my room, I was told the hotel was nowhere near capacity. It can't be cost-effective to move guests from room-to-room just to save this $20. There are no amenities such as continental breakfast and no free wi-fi. I had to pay $8.95 for in-room wi-fi to check my email for 3 days. Although they did have liters of bottled water in the room for $3 a piece! Even though I was on my company's expense account, I just felt they nickel and dime you to death. Any hospitality or extra amenities one receives must be tied to the rate you pay for the room and who you book it through. Now I really know what it's like to be treated as a 2nd class citizen!

1 of 5  The worse Sheraton that I have every stayed at, A TripAdvisor Member, Hudson, Wisconsin, October 5, 2008

I just want to give a warning to anyone who is planning a trip to Duluth, Minnesota. Keep driving up the North Shore and avoid any Duluth hotel and restaurants, especially the Duluth Sheraton. I stay at hotels on a weekly basis. I actually have pretty low expectations when it comes to staying at hotels these days. However, my experience at this property came to new lows. I guess running a fairly new hotel in a rundown decayed area of Duluth comes with problems with hiring staff that would be willing to work at this location. I arrived at this hotel Friday evening for a weekend stay; to attend my niece’s wedding. I arrived to chaos of a front desk area, a large family with a dog took all the room in front of the reception area, a manager went out of her way to greet the family and show where to walk the dog, in the meantime, I stood there waiting to be helped-long with others. There were three other desk clerks who were not busy with guests. The family finally moved on and I was ready to check in, I was not greeted but just asked immediately for my ID and credit card, I was not recognized as a Gold Starwood Preferred member nor was I given a preferred room, I was not asked if only having a shower and not a bathtub was okay for my room, I was not informed where my room was nor was I informed that the parking was a half an mile walking distance from my room, I was asked if I needed help with my luggage-of course I said no because who would think that I would have to walk a half mile, use three elevators to reach my room. I pity anyone who has to use crutches and stays at this place as well as someone who does not have wheeled luggage-as I did. The room has faulty switches-three switches on the wall that randomly turn on and off lights and the television-it is comical but not so much when trying to figure out how to turn off the hall lights while trying to keep the television on. Then the bathroom does not have doors that shut to provide privacy. They are French glass panel doors that do not lock and do not shut all the way together. A horrible discovery when you need to use the toilet and you are in full view of your room guests. Forget about asking your desk clerk about knowledge of the area and the information accurate. I was led on a 16 block around trip walk to a closed post office. Forget about having your room cleaned. We made three requests for our room to be cleaned through out the day. Finally after we came back after 10 PM and the room was not cleaned, we called for fresh towels. The night manager came entered the room without announcing-I was half dressed, I had to quickly jump into the bed to cover myself. I was very shocked at this event. Well, after all this fun, I decided to complain to the front desk and the manager who appeared in my room. I was given an apology, I was given a reduced rate on my night stay, I walked away satisfied that my complaints were heard and that he tried to make amends that was until I got a loud knock on my hotel door from the local police an hour later. After the visit from the police, I decided that I had enough with my time in Duluth and decided to check out at 2 AM.

I called to Sheraton Corporate about my experience because I wanted to be compensated for my entire stay due to the horrible experience that I went through, the corporate associate focused in on the police visit and not what was wrong with how everything was handled and my experiences with the hotel. I immediately cancelled my future Sheraton reservations and I plan never to stay at another Sheraton property ever again.

Aside from this hotel property being a mess, it is sad to experience homeless, mentally disturbed, drunks, college age drunks chasing after your car, stepping through and around the trash, vacant buildings, closed businesses, rude local residents who spout hatful epitaphs at your family, and an Irish pub that does not play Irish music but bad and out of tune jazz and supports patrons who spout unprovoked hatful comments about your family-all this is right out side of your door at the Duluth Sheraton. Lessons learned from this experience is not to visit Duluth, not to spend any money in Duluth, encourage others to visit communities along Lake Superior’s shoreline that want you to come and stay and enjoy Lake Superior’s splendor.

$4.95 for Internet??? In 2008??? Well, I'm not kidding - welcome to 1989 at the Sheraton Duluth. And it's not wireless (in our room).

Discourteous and uninterested front desk personnel when we checked in. Have that 1st-day-of-a-five-year-sentence look.

Beware! The walk from the parking lot is like an Olympic training run. Ready, set, left from the front desk, right at the hall, left at the elevator, right at the skywalk, left at the doors, more skywalk, , right again, right at the next set of doors and congratulations, you're there! Don't forget to validate the parking pass or you get to run this twice more.

I don't understand these other reviews, musta been posted by relatives!
