Really great hotel in Berlin! | Read all reviews
Hotel Otto is an amazing find in Berlin. All new and pretty, very clean room, for an affordable price. The location is amazing, close to many, many great restaurants, excellent shopping and U and S bahn stations... The staff is also super nice. All in all a very nice hotel located in a great walking area and close to the most important parts of Berlin. Sure, there's no air conditioning in the rooms, but there's no air conditioning anywhere in Berlin - Germans are very energy-conscious (and I went there at the end of July and the room was totally fine temperature-wise)... 100% recommendable...

we recently spent two nights in the hotel otto after reading a review about it on tripadvisor -- very stylish hotel (we had a large studio room with wooden floors - important to us) with the most pleasant and helpful staff -- added bonus of free wifi connection in your room -- excellent breakfast on the top floor with lots of natural light -- complimentary coffee and water and cakes all day -- we felt very welcomed by everyone Todd, England I knew the hotel was great through the reviews here and was not disappointed. Stylish rooms, very large. Aveda products! and free wifi. The breakfast is really good, I mean REALLY good. Staff was supre friendly and accommodating. We traveled with kids and had no problems,an extra bed was set up as well as a portacrib. The location is just great, and the neighborhood is really fancy, full of nice restaurants. Very high quality rooms and stay for the price. Rooms were large and stylish, very clean, modern, faultless with some added extras. Free wifi! A great base to see the city from, pretty close to the zoologischer U-Bahn stop from which it is easy to get to pretty much anyway, especially the airports. Lots of good restaurants nearby with food form all over the globe (although quite tricky to find one selling german food!) excellent bakeries on the corner near the hotel too! Would definitely visit again. I chose the Hotel Otto after reading positive reviews and I was not disappointed -- they care and it shows. I vacation with my family in Europe almost every summer and the Hotel Otto was one of the best experiences I’ve had. The hotel is clean and very well kept, with nice touches like tea and cake left out in the pleasant modern dining room/terrace to be enjoyed in the afternoon and evening (after touring the city, we looked forward to having a little desert on the terrace) and, when we were there, champagne to make mimosas at breakfast. When I arrived, I asked if there was somewhere I could refrigerate my medication and the very helpful and friendly desk clerk upgraded our room to one with a mini-kitchen. The room was good sized with large windows and spare but comfortable furnishings. The location was terrific for us, a very nice neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bus, u-bahn and s-bahn nearby. The Zoo Train Station is within easy walking distance which is where many interesting walking tours leave from (we used Original Berlin Walks). When I left, I discovered at the airport that I had left behind my camera bag. I frantically called the hotel and the clerk immediately found the bag, called a cab and sent it on its way to me. It arrived just in time. When I next visit Berlin, I will certainly stay at the Hotel Otto. Hotel Otto is an amazing find in Berlin. All new and pretty, very clean room, for an affordable price. We stayed at Hotel Otto for five nights at the end of June 2008 and had a great time. I spend quite a lot of time in corporate type hotels and this was such a refreshing change! Our flight was delayed but by chance I had emailed the hotel directly a couple of days before to say that this might happen (wish I had the same luck predicting the lotto numbers). We arrived well after 23h in the end. They emailed me a code which I punched into the door and out came my room key - genius! The room was enormous - 35 sq meters by all accounts and had a micro balcony (not one of the ones that you can stand out in) and also a separate dressing room which was great. The room was very well presented and a real change to the normal corporate box. The feeling of space was a real plus in a city centre hotel. Breakfast on the seventh floor was superb with fresh fruit, coffee and all the normal euro style breakfast goodies. What I did like was the waitress knew what type of coffee I wanted after the first couple of days - good customer service! The location of the hotel is second to none. It is close by a U and an S Bahn and the S Bahn takes you straight to SXF airport too. There are loads of really good eateries on the door step - don't miss the Italian and Greek ones about 100m down the road. The only downside to the hotel is that it was quite warm. We could have asked for a fan (but we didn't) and to be fair Berlin was experiencing exceptionally warm weather (33 plus). I would recommend that they try and install aircon, but for 99% of the days in the year it will be fine. This was our third time in Berlin (a great city for tourists) and was by far the best time too. All in all, if you're going to Berlin, don't miss the Hotel Otto - you won't regret it. I stayed 1 night 3 June and 1 night 9 June and on both occasions I had fabulous rooms. These were my 3rd and 4th visits to Otto. The place is now like a home from home! Beds are very comfortable in lovely modern rooms which have been renovated since the hotel first opened in 2006. They seem to be in a very stylish decor - minimalistic yet chic - clearly a lot of thought went into the design. Black curtains and colourful head boards. The bathrooms are just gorgeous, and very clean, with lovely walk in showers with a glass door instead of curtains. Rooms all now have their own hairdryer which is a proper plug in one and little extras for the traveller in a basket in the walk in wardrobe as well as a small safe, enough to store cash/passport/papers but not a bag or laptop. I booked single rooms but was given a large double on both occasions as I think the hotel wasn't quite full (lucky me!). There was even fruit in the room and a bottle of complimentary mineral water. The only thing lacking was a ceiling fan or, even better, air conditioning as the temperatures were around 28-33 degrees which was stifling so I kept the window/door open - needless to say one did not really need the lovely feather duvet!! The breakfast buffet was as stunning as ever - I love the fact they have prosecco there so always make a Bucks Fizz as a holiday treat! My only minor gripe is that the hot water samovar often runs dry and needs topping up as I don't drink coffee (which they bring in all sorts of variations) but the staff oblige by filling it up (you need to wait for it boil again) but they will bring me hot water in a pot as well. There is always a weekly "speciality" on the buffet:- week one was Scandinavian and week 2 was Bavarian. The hotel is walking distance to Ku'dam and designer boutiques and has easy access to the whole city thanks to the U-Bahn at Ernst Reuter Platz and the S Bahn at Savigny Platz - the S9 route from here goes direct to Schonefeld Airport. Don't forget to validate travel tickets in the little red machines on stations. The street on which the hotel is situated has loads of restaurants so you need never go far for a meal or eat the same cuisine twice! There are several lovely bakeries as well, so now I always buy a few fancy bread rolls to take home on my last day. Despite the lack of aircon and the sometimes empty samovar this place is a real gem, don't hesitate to book it! The Hotel Otto is a very nice and small hotel in a very nice area of Berlin. The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are very nice (especially the family rooms) Don't miss the breakfast buffet. The food is super and you have a great view of Berlin from the restaurant on the 7th floor. Highly recommendable. Stayed there for a business trip on recommendation from a German friend. For a reasonably priced place, the location couldn't be better (5mins from Kudamm). Good-sized rooms, nicely furnished, fully WiFied and the staff are really friendly. In good weather, the sun terrace breakfast bar comes as a bonus. Definitely recommended! Stayed hear with my boyfriend for 4 nights, booked the Hotel after reading review on Tripadviser. Good location with a few good bars and restaurants on the doorstep - Try Florian for a very nice meal or 5euros pizza at Savignyplatz (La Piazza) or excellent bier and bratwurst @ Zwie something or other. We did find the area very quiet tho, so if you are looking for more hustle and bustle or liveliness this maybe isnt the location for you (although it was November...). Some nice touches such as the free tea/coffee and cake in the lounge but we would have preferred coffee facilites in our room. The staff were friendly and dealt with our queries in a professional way but did lack overall friendlyness and didnt really go the extra mile. Overall it is a good location, nice decor, average staff and I would staff there again or recommend to a friend. Two friends and I stayed at Hotel Otto and were not disappointed. I had read reviews on Tripadvisor and booked a reservation for our stay in Berlin. We had a Comfort room with three beds which was very large and comfortable. I was more concerned about the location and when we arrived I found we were only a 5 minute walk from the Kurfurstendam and block away from the Ernst-Reuter Platz U-Bahn station so access to things around Berlin was very easy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived early so our room was not quite ready and the front desk attendant had us go to the breakfast room for coffee while the room was prepared. The breakfast on the seventh floor was good and lots to choose from. The hotel itself is on a quiet street with lots of restaurants and cafes around. I would definitely stay at Hotel Otto again and would recommend it to friends traveling to Berlin. The people in Hotel Otto give you the feeling that you are welcome. Service is great and the have a super breakfast. The room is very clean. Location is nearby station, and there are lovely restaurants nearby. There is only one thing, there is no airco and it can be hot in the room. But further its a nice place to stay. Otto Hotel is located in a quiet suburb about 10 minutes walk north of the Ku'Damm, with nearest Savignplatz S-Bahn a 5 minute walk away. There is very little of a reception area, the breakfast room is located on the top floor with commanding views of the rooftops of the city . Breakfast charged at 13 euros, but alternatively, you can find ample establishments outside and around the hotel. Although internet access is free in the hotel, there is no terminal so bring your own laptop. About 10m left of the hotel is a stationary shop which offers internet access for 1 euro/15 minutes. The room I was allocated was situated on the ground floor overlooking the rear car park. It was a very hot day so was glad as room was not air conditioned. Bed was soft and comfortable, had a flat screen TV, bathroom with shower, security safe, hairdryer with complimentary bottle of water and fruit basket. All in all, 65 euros a night booked through Hrs.de , this hotel offers reasonable value. Although I would stay at this hotel again, the plus being the Ku Damm shopping district , many of the tourist attractions are located in east Berlin which I found to be more interesting , full of character with trendy shops including the Galeries Lafayette department store and a vibrant nightlife. If travelling from Schonefeld Airport on S-Bahn, journey time to Savignplatz will take approximately 45-60 minutes taking in many stops on the way. The single fare cost however is only 2.90 euros. Me and my husband were in Berlin between 17th-19th of May.He did quite a search b4 we go and found Hotel Otto in the end. We were not expecting too much but what we experienced was real good. 1st of all location is perfect. You are surrounded by subway stops. When you walk outside the hotel, everywhere is full of nice restaurants and nice, cozy cafes. IT is only 10 minutes walk to Kurfurstandamm Strasse which is the most popular meeting point in Berlin. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are equipped with evrything you need.Beds are soo fluffy and clean.Towels, floor etc were also very clean and was changed and cleaned everyday. They have a great breakfast lounge with a great breakfast buffet. If you wanna have your breakfast on a big terrace with a wonderful view of Berlin, your place is Hotel Otto. We definetely stay there again if we travel to Berlin again. Tolles, stylisches Hotel an guter Lage. Check-in: Sehr gut.
