So I took my best gal pal to Tampa for her birthday this weekend. Neither of us have been to Ybor so we were siked to find out our priceline hotel was in Ybor and not far away from the fun. We arrived in Ybor before 10 am which means no check in but they did allow us to get our parking pass and park in their lot while we waited for checkin. We got breakfast even though officially we were not checked in yet. Breakfast was good a large selection is available and the staff is friendly. We came in and out of the hotel for hours before we could check in and no matter how many dumb questions we had the staff was always friendly and very helpful. The hotel is right on the trolly line so we enjoyed the city until checkin. Checkin was painless and quick. The room was nice! We had decided to take a quick nap before our crazy night out. we only planned on an hour nap and then off again. Well the beds are so freakin' comfortable that we slept for FIVE hours!!! I wanted to take the bed home with me. Luckly we didn't miss dinner. We arrived back at the room at 3 am and decided swimming would be nice. Now the sign says it is closed at 10 each night but we learned if you are quiet no one even notices you are in the pool. The pool is small but great for singles and couples. They have a noon check out which is awesome after a night out and check out is painless. We did not hear anyone else in the hotel until 10 am when we woke up to our alarm and then heard our neighbors alarm going off as well. Other then that it was nice and quiet. The view is not great the room and service is. The area around the hotel is well lit and clean. The only bums we saw where outside the clubs 5 blocks away. The two of us felt pretty safe walking home by ourselves. Over all our Ybor city experience was good and we would totally stay at this hotel again.

This hotel had a very nice, comfortable, homey feel. The staff was very helpful! I loved the lounge area. And they had a free hot breakfast in the morning. The con-you have to take a cab to get to the hotel/rent a car. The pro-they had a shuttle to take you around Ybor City and also to the cruise terminal (we stayed there the day before our cruise). The rooms were clean and very nice. We specifically chose to stay at the Hampton, Ybor City, because of it's location. There's a trolley stop right by the hotel which will take you to Channelside, the Aqarium and other sites. We had a lovely clean room and the staff was very accomodating. When we got to our room we found the toilet did not work properly and within 2 minutes of calling the front desk maintenance was there to correct the problem. We took advantage of their shuttle service and their driver was a blast! With getting the Triplet package we got to take in the Lowrey Park Zoo and the Tampa Aquarium in one day and then in the evening we got to enjoy the sights and nightlift at both Ybor City and Channelside!!! I would definitely stay at this hotel again then next time we choose to go to Tampa!!! Location! Location! If you want to experience Ybor City, this is the place to be. It is located on the main drag and has everything within walking distance. The hotel even has a free shuttle that will take you downtown or over to Channelside. There is a station of the Tampa streetcar (trolley car) next to the hotel. Excellent breakfast included with ham and eggs! I found the staff here to be very helpful and friendly. The rooms - 316 and 320 were amazing. Huge - typical luxurious Hilton beds, silky smooth bedding. Staff great, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Room has kichenette with small sink, microwave, cupboards space, fridge, coffee maker. 3 seater sofa, average sized tub, toilet, sink. Parking right under the building ($6 a day I think) - lots of spaces, no problem what so ever. We stumbled Across the Ybor Christmas parade today by chance which was lots of fun! The 'suite shop' right by Reception is very very keenly priced with alcoholic beverages and snacks (under bar prices as they want to get you here before you go out so I have been told). 13 mins to airport. 1 block to the 'action' in Ybor. 1 block to a couple of Gay bars - 714 lounge and G Bar. Pool - too cold to go in, but looked nice Free ethernet connection to the internet in all rooms. Free internet connection in lobby (2 computers with free printing facility) I wish we had more reason to stay in Tampa other than a night out with friends, and a flight to NY tomorrow - honestly, I absolutely LOVE this hotel - it will go down as one of my favourite of all times (the other's also being Hilton - ah, they never let you down) To the staff of the hotel - keep up the good work (especially you Michael - thanks for the help today!) I was also very impressed when whe arrived to check in with the guy behind the desk - although it was busy and he was on his own - he managed to multitask by checking people in, answering the phone and dealing with enquiries and all with the biggest smile on his face. Comfortable rooms, great location, friendly staff and speaking for ourselves didn’t have any trouble with noise. Good door security. Enjoyed the night out with the varied and interesting bars and restaurants close by. This business traveler loved staying in a Hampton Inn just a few months old, and it was even more of a bonus to be taken care of by a very competent and friendly staff. Lots of covered parking in the garage, there is a charge on weekend nights. Check-in extremely fast, blink and you'll miss it. My room was okay-sized but nicely appointed with new-looking furniture and a style that had the Cuban feelings of Ybor. One of the best hotel beds I've slept on, a high bed with just the right firmness. Bathroom was fancy, fixtures solid and new and everything super clean. Wired Internet service very fast (11 Mbps), WiFi available in common areas (even by the pool!). Free breakfast with biscuits and gravy was yummy, even the all-day coffee was excellent. (Be careful of the one-cup in-room coffee maker, it tends to spit at you when finishing.) A great combination of the new Hampton amenities, a well-trained staff and attention to detail made this trip delightful. Excellent value, highly recommended. I stayed here for New Years Eve 2004 and absolutely loved it. It's a brand new hotel right in the middle of Ybor City. Everything at the hotel was impeccably clean and well decorated. The staff was very friendly, and the continental breakfast was good. The rooms were squeaky clean and also beautifully decorated. The trolley line that can take you elsewhere within downtown Tampa stops two blocks from the hotel. I'm sure plenty has been written about Ybor city elsewhere, so I won't attempt to do it justice here. Although the hotel costs a bit more than I usually spend, it's location and quality can't be beat. Don't hesitate to stay here if don't mind spending a little extra. The wife and I spent a night here while hitting the nearby clubs and everything was fine. The place was generally what I’d expect from a current Hampton Inn. The room was clean and in good shape and the hotel appears new and well kept. The folks at the desk were very nice and helpful. The entrance to the garage is on 6th Avenue and was a little hard to find. They also have a pedestrian gate on 7th Avenue to make getting to and from the clubs easier. The hotel was reasonably quiet. The most noise we heard was from a family with a couple of young kids in the morning. I didn’t hear any noise from outside. The only minor gripe I had was the buffet. It ended at 10. We arrived at 9:50 and they were already out of a lot of things. We managed to scrape together enough to get by, but the folks who showed up at 10:05 were pretty much out of luck. Since this place is really tied to going out clubbing, it would be nice if the buffet was open a little later on the weekends, or at least re-filled shortly before it closes. Either way, I’d stay here again. So I took my best gal pal to Tampa for her birthday this weekend. The two of us felt pretty safe walking home by ourselves. Over all our Ybor city experience was good and we would totally stay at this hotel again. This hotel was great, nice clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, decent free breakfast, friendly staff and in what was once a great location. The nieghborhood is still safe and historic, but the night life that used to be available here has all but vanished. There are still plenty of clubs and bars to visit, however you may be nearly alone at any of these establishments, even on a friday or saturday night. Dining options have been severly limited as well......however there is an excellent sushi place called the blue samarai. There is a trolley that will take you to downtown/channelside which is where all the action was the weekend I was there(happened to be Gaspirilla, a huge mardi gras like celebration, only with pirates instead of jestures). This is a fine place to stay for those looking for buzzing nightlife. Stayed here during business in order to hang out at night in Ybor City. The hotel was fine - an average to above average Hampton Inn. No hotel restaurant, just the gift shop. And the complimentary breakfast... you get what you pay for. It was not great. But, overall, the room was fine. Check-in was relatively painless - (got into my room around 2:30). And the location was fun. I would stay here again next time I want to mix pleasure with business. This hotel is very nice. My g/f and I stayed here with some friends when we were visiting Tampa and we stayed for 2 nights. For the most part we were impressed by it. Parking is limited but we never found it hard to find a spot. It is very nicely located to have everything you need within walking distance. Great staff that will help you out if you need anything at all or directions. They have a free shuttle that goes downtown and free wi-fi for the guests. The breakfast buffet is also really good plenty of options for eating a lighter breakfast. The buffet was also very well kept up and everything was always stocked even with the whole restaurant being full. The only real problem we had was the first night we woke up around 3am to finding out that the air conditioner had gone out some time before that and everyone was drenched with sweat. They couldn't do anything for us that night but the next day they sent someone up right away to fix it. The next night they sent up a gift basket for us and also comped us for the night before. The staff was friendly through the whole time and was always trying to help us out. Over all a great experience and would stay here again on my next trip to Tampa!! There are a few things you should know in advance before staying at this hotel. It will save you a lot of frustration. First, there seems to be only one small space to park for registration in front of the hotel. We later realized that you can enter the parking deck located on the back side of the block. There is a spot just to the left of the hotel entrance for registration parking. This would be a much better option. Once you find the hotel, drive around the block to the back side and take the FIRST entry to the parking deck. Being indecisive, my husband took the SECOND entrance which landed us in the basement parking. It was close and confined also requiring a ride up on the elevator to get to the hotel and registration. Just as soon as we got checked in, we relocated our vehicle to the upper parking deck. Several of the reviews I read prior to staying at this hotel mentioned noisy rooms. We were there during the week and everything was very quiet. We also had a suite which is probably another way to avoid the noise. Please be advised that ALL suites are non-smoking. If you are a smoker, it's a quick elevator ride down to the lobby where there is a designated smoking area just outside the door to the upper parking deck. Hotel security is very tight which caused me to question just why this was necessary. Your room key is required to go up on any elevator or to enter any door from the outside. You can go down and out without it. When I asked about the seemingly excessive security (compared to most hotels I've stayed in) the answer was, "We just want you to be safe." I never really got a clear understanding to - safe from what? Everyone at the hotel was very friendly except for this one manager with a snarly personality. He seemed to be on duty 24/7. The hotel supports the environmentally responsible position of choosing whether or not to have your sheets changed daily. Our maid apparently spoke little or no English. When she made the bed, she even put all the little brochures back out which I thought was a bit comical. We also got locked out of the room every day. Apparently no one was able to configure our room key for a 3 day stay. A quick trip to the front desk fixed this, just be forewarned and prepared because it probably will happen to you too. I wandered out on foot once while my husband was in a meeting but quickly returned to the hotel. It was extremely hot and the hotel is about 3 or 4 blocks from much of anything interesting that I could find. The room was clean, the pool was clean, central location, good amenities. Free internet downstairs, workout room...fabulous and comfortable. The parking is pretty lousy and minimal, I didn't feel too safe leaving the rental car there. And the staff were helpful, but not overly friendly I would give it 4.5 if I could. Some friends and I decided to stay here to be close to an Ybor City event. I checked in first. The staff was pleasant at that time. The room was very clean and comfortable. I believe it was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and I am picky! The parking is very tight, especially if you have a large vehicle. Make sure you get a parking tag. The lady who checked me in did not offer one and I did not think to ask. The next morning I had a warning ticket. The morning desk was not very friendly and in fact I heard him muttering about another guest as she walked away. Not the most professional. Their breakfast was mediocre. It is hot, but the eggs were rubbery. Lots of choices for the continental breakfast though. I didn't use the pool, but it did look rather small. But then again this is actually an urban hotel and the fact that they even have a pool is a surprise. All in all, if you want to be near Ybor City for something, stay here and be pleased. If you don't need to be in Ybor or near downtown, there are plenty of other places with comparable amenities and lower price to choose from in Tampa. I stayed here for the Florida bar exam and found it to be good value for money, with comfortable beds and friendly staff. Ybor city has plenty of restaurants & bars within walking distance and compared to the downtown of Tampa, this was a good location. I would stay here again. We stayed here for one night after getting off of our cruise. It is right outside of the trolley stop, but it also provides a free shuttle service within a 5 mile radius. The staff was extremely helpful and the driver actually didn't mind taking us to the mall or to the airport...but it depends on who you talk to since it's outside that 5mile radius. It provides 2 computers for free internet use, has a little pool and the hotel itself was very clean, so I was happy. The city itself was kind of dead, but again, we were only there for the night. My wife and I spent three nights here during the Gasparilla Pirate Festival weekend and were very pleased with our decision. The location was excellent for our needs, just around the corner from the trolley to downtown Tampa, so we did not have to drive and park downtown during the festival. The hotel is just over one year old and very attractive. Our room was excellent, very nicely decorated, quite large and very clean. Quality of beds is very important to us and our king-size bed was very comfortable. The breakfast area is large and breakfast was excellent all three days we were there. Coffee and tea were available throughout the day and fresh warm cookies were put out every afternoon. Security also is excellent. The registration desk is right in front of the main entrance from the parking area so staff can monitor everyone coming into the hotel. The outside entrance from the street requires a room key to get into the hotel. Both elevators also require a room key to access the floors from the lobby. The only negative thing we can say about the hotel is that it is somewhat noisy from interior sound. Many of the guests during our stay were teens in town for an international skateboard competition and we could hear doors slamming and background sound of TV's from adjoining rooms. Overall, this is a nice hotel and we very definitely would stay here again. We booked this room for one night 10/29. We wanted location so that we could be near the Guavaween festival. The room was very clean, very new. We had a hard time getting to the hotel because of the road blocks for the festival, but once we arrived we were greeted with a smile. Security was tight to keep out those who were not guests. We couldn't have asked for a better location, walking distance to everything. Deluxe continental breakfast was tasty. Much better than other hotel chains. My 17 year old daughter and I stayed for one night while attending a skateboarding event. Very nice accomodations. Large room with excellent beds and pillows. Large shower with nice shower head. Excellent free ethernet service. Small fridge, microwave and one cup coffee maker in room. Good complimentary breakfast. Very small pool with only 3 regular chairs by pool. Three pieces of aerobic equipment in excercise room (no weights). Only downside was my wake up call was assigned to a different room. Also, it is somewhat difficult to find the front entrance, parking to hotel due to one way streets and trolley lines. Would definitely stay here again. This is a new hotel in the Ybor City section of Tampa. Very convenient to the trolley stop (which takes you through Ybor City and to Channelside and Hyde Park) and within walking distance of most Ybor City sites. Nicely decorated, well kept rooms, comfortable beds, free breakfast. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Only drawback would be rather thin walls. The Hampton Inn Tampa/Ybor City/Downtown was an average stay in a location that has some good points and some bad points. First, while the location is technically inside the historic Ybor City entertainment district, it is really about 3 or 4 blocks away from any of the restaurants, bars, and nightclubs at the heart of the area. If you happen to get a lower floor, you may end up with an unpleasant view of profanity laced graffiti over boarded up windows and doors of neighboring abandoned warehouses. A positive about the location is the trolley stop nearby, providing easy access to the heart of Ybor City and to downtown for $2.00. The room itself was sufficiently clean, with the exception of large smudges on the window, and quiet with a comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was a bit lacking compared to other Hampton Inns & similar hotels. There was no waffle maker and no meat of any kind on the buffet; mostly bland pastries and some cereal. The staff overall were quite friendly and informative, however. We booked a "cruise package" that included up to seven nights parking and shuttle van to and from the cruise ship terminal (about 2 miles away). The shuttle driver was friendly and very helpful. When we returned from the cruise, he was very prompt in picking us up. Overall, the hotel was not one of the better ones of the Hampton Inn brand, but was an acceptable stay nevertheless. I would stay here again, but I would definitely look at other options first. This is a very clean hotel and just the right place for the bachelor/bachelorette parties that seemed to be happening on that weekend. Walls were paper thin, so don't expect much in the way of privacy. The neighborhood did not seem very safe from the outside. I never would have found the place without explicit directions from the front desk. I stay at Hampton Inns quite frequently and this is the same as other Hampton Inns, comfortable bed, clean rooms a decent breakfast bar. The hotel does seem to attract noisy guests - no doubt because of the very reasonable rates. My most serious concern was the neighborhood. It is nowhere near downtown Tampa (but the hotel run a free shuttle within 5 miles of the hotel between about 8:30 am and 10 pm - it varied during my stay and nobody at the desk could quote specific hours). There is also a trolley that runs into downtown for $2.00 each way which runs a little later than the Hampton Inn and stops at major attractions - the aquarium, convention center, etc. The hotels' adjacent neighborhood is deserted storefronts, crumbling buildings and parking lots and the trolley depot. During the daylight hours it is of no concern but when the sun goes down it is rather unpleasant. Strip clubs or bars with blacked out windows and tatoo parlors seem to dominate Ybor City. There is a "mall" in the middle of this 'city' but it has a junk store, a Victorias Secret and some restaurants. There is, lucky enough, a Starbucks. Homeless people wander the streets any time of night or day. I attended for a meeting and one of the members of the group actually checked out of the hotel early as she was terribly uncomfortable being in the neighborhood. All credit to the hotel staff - they were very understanding and even offered the shuttle to transfer her to her new hotel. A bit loud on the weekends, but overall, a nice affordable option near downtown Tampa.

We recently stayed at the Hampton in Ybor City. We were a bit disappointed in some aspects of the stay though the staff seemed to be trying very hard. Still, there was a bloody fight between two drunk men on the floor above us, the staff forgot our wake-up call, and the view of the graffiti covered wall was less than thrilling. We also were disappointed with the unheated pool. Most FL hotels heat pools by the Spring if not year-round. Highpoints? The breakfast staff do a good job and even gave the kids in the room coloring books and markers to keep. The room is simple, yet comfortable. The location by the trolley line is handy. The Tampa Bay Brewing Company in the Ybor Centro is a few blocks away and had good food and home brewed root beer and was really very family friendly. The hotel itself was clean. However it's the party hotel. Loud hallways in the middle of the night when people return from their night out in Ybor. Breakfast was terriable. Food and drink run out quickly and the staff is slow to replace. Limited breakfast items. My husband had business in Ybor City and we stayed 3 days. The check-in staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. When asked, they informed us it would cost $40 to take a cab to Busch Gardens, a major attraction 8 miles away. The cab ride ended up being $26. Their shuttle van would only take you within a radius of 5 miles, which did not include the Tampa airport or Busch Gardens. Our room was not cleaned by 5:00 one day. Their free continental breakfast was decent, though. Steyed there one night. The people in the room next to me were very loud, and running between several rooms across the hallway all night long. The walls are so thin that I could not sleep. I was too tired to try to switch rooms or complain, so I can't comment on customer service. There is just no sound isolation whatsoever. I had a gauranteed room for myself, my wife, and for our infant daughter. When we arrived at 11:00 PM, we were informed that the hotel was overbooked. When we arrived at the new hotel, there were approximately 6 other rooms there occupied by other Hampton Inn overbooked guests. When we did finally return to the Hampton Inn the next day, we found the walls to be paper thin. We stayed in a room at the end of the hallway and could hear the ding of the elevator as clearly as if we were standing right next to it. As for the room next door, we could hear everything that was going on in there as well. It did not have a game room for the children, no heated pool, staff un frienly,do not think it was worth the price at all,it said in room to call desk if you left tooth brush, which we did and they said they did not have any,did not have any mouth wash in room either, not stay there again.
