Our hotel experienced a recent problem with bed bugs within one of our rooms. The staff apologized for the inconvenience with respect, and helped the clients for searching another hotel to stay at for the night. This was taken into much consideration, since our hotel has never experienced problems as such ( proof with our past reviews from our clients ) We can assure for the future clients that the problem has been regulated. We have called the specialists to disinfect and destroy the bed bugs, and also take apart our flooring in case there were to be any other spread. Again, we truly apologize for this matter. We are taking the proper procedures for this not to occur at our hotel.

Great hotel, room was very quiet. Great central location to attractions and in a very lively area in the city. Service was excellent we had a minor problem with the luggage but the staff took care the problem promptly. Room is a bit small but that's to be expected for a Montreal hotel; room was extremely clean. No complaints at all. I highly recomend it. We were led here when put out of our reserved hotel--what a treat! Location is great, but this hotel seems 1-2 levels above what is standard in the neighborhood. Staff immediately responded to our distress, room was euro-efficient: everything in excellent working condition: ac, internet, microwave, refrig. Staff continued to provide friendly service, advice, bandaids for blistered feet throughout stay. Card keys used for access after 9pm, and office closed, but staff onsite and available by cell. Continental breakfast served by staff who liked to see people queue for hot croissants from the oven and request serial cups of espresso from their impressive grind/pump machine (cafe available all day). I wish we had stayed here our entire trip; recommend this highly for those seeking moderate priced hotel, with comforts and friendly service. Stayed here with 2 friends in June 07 for the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. A short walk to the Berri-UQAM metro, one stop to Jean-Drapeau, and you are on the race circuit! The property itself is located in the Latin Quarter, which is extremely laid back, with lots of good bars & restaurants and interesting shops. Don't miss the vast terrace at the rear of the nearby Saint-Sulpice bar! The area was not mobbed with F1 fans in the evenings either during race weekend which was nice, however if you wanted to hit the F1 parties, it is only a short metro or taxi journey to the main epicentres - Rue Crescent or Rue St-Denis. Staff at the Auberge couldn't have been better. Rooms were modern and clean with good facilities. Considering it was F1 weekend, we paid no more than usual rates, which were very competitive to start with. To those people who have rated this property badly - look up a French dictionary and learn what the word Auberge actually means!!!! It is not a 5* hotel, but is it not MEANT to be! In fact, I would say the included breakfast we had there was better than many a 5* hotel I have stayed in - those home-made fresh croissants are to die for! I am not prissy, but I'm also not 18 anymore and was in town for a wedding, so I was looking for an affordable place to stay that was not crawling with roaches. After reading all the horrible reviews on the first place we had booked, we decided to change our reservations to the Montreal Espace Confort. I am sooo happy that we did. The rooms are impeccably clean and decorated in a tasteful modern style. They are not huge, but there are so many places to put your travel stuff that we never felt cramped. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and accomodating. The location is perfect- in the heart of where you want to be with tons of restaurants and bars near by, and walking distance to everything else. The air conditioner was a godsend. This was an amazing value for the money. I am REALLY happy we stayed there and would reccommend it to anyone else! BTW, check out their website-- they have really good virtual tours of the hotel that accuratley describe the rooms. (sorry, I cant remember the webaddress off the top of my head.) I stayed here during the Formula 1 race in late June. Nice modern, clean hotel in an unbelievable location, especially for the race which was only 1 metro stop away. Tons & tons of dining/cafe/drinking/people-watching options on St. Denis, & a 10 minute walk to the metro. Great for vegetarians, as there is a Le Commensal vegetarian buffet restaurant almost next door. Maybe a 20 minute walk to the heart of downtown, Crescent street, Eaton Ctr, etc. I'm going back with my girlfriend in August for another vacation. I stayed here 2 days and it was very central for going out in the night. In the small room in the upper floor was no internet connection, but it was clean. Breakfast was good. This little hotel is in a fantastic location, the staff were helpful and friendly, and it was very clean. If you are in the section of the hotel with private bathrooms, the rooms are modern and cute and included the amenities I wanted (iron, TV, desk, kitchenette, etc.). I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't require a 5 star accommodation. However, the rooms with shared bathrooms are another story. I had to stay in one the first night I was there because I couldn't find another room in downtown Montreal, and the room had a definite "youth hostel" feel. It faced Rue St. Denis which is extremely noisy, the room had a funny smell that I couldn't get used to, the lighting was dim, and there was no mirror in the room which made it difficult to get ready. However, the room and the shared bathroom were spotless, and would be a good option for someone on a real shoestring budget or if you care more about location than the luxuries you might find in an airport hotel. If you can afford it, avoid the cheaper rooms and stay in one of the nice, quiet, private ones! I just stayed one night - very nice feeling at this "hostel for adults" and super price. Surprising since it's very convenient location is right on the incredibly busy strip of St-Denis about 4 blocks from St-Catherine - I was worried about noise. But the walls in this old house are thick and the windows in my room were small and came with fans. I slept in the bed next to a window NOT facing St-Denis with a fan turned on - it was perfect. Room was functional - beds, dresser, small tv and phone. But hardwood floor and everything was very clean and no cheap hotel smell. Very nice staff and a good basic toast/croissant cereal, coffee teas breakfast Recommend this for those who just need a downtown place to stay that is really cool. The Montreal Espace Confort is a small hotel located in Rue St Denis in the Latin Quarter. The rooms are small but comfortable, and the added advantage of the little built-in kitchenette is a boon for budget travellers. A laundry room with a washing machine and a dryer is available at very reasonable prices. The breakfast is good, with awesome fresh croissants being served. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and really make you feel like a member of the family. The hotel is very well located, being at a very comfrtable walking distance from the metro stations at Berri UQAM and Sherbrooke. There are a vast number of cafetarias in the neighbourhood, so dining is no problem. My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 9 days and it has been a good experience (we are in our early 50s). Expect a comfortable stay without the frills of the more expensive establishments. I would certainly stay here again! We stayed in the Montreal Espace Confort for one night in September and it was absolutely perfect. The hotel is spotlessly clean. the rooms are compact with basic furniture, a bathroom and a microwave, fridge and sink. Even though they are compact rooms they are clean and bright. The location is also very good. There are a huge number of restaurants in the ares to choose from which are reasonably priced. breakfast was included and this included croissants, cereals juices atc and was good. If i was to return to montreal again i would most definately stay here again. it is excellent value for money. It reminded me of a hostel for adults with private rooms. The breakfast included was cereal but everything was very clean and the AC worked well. The decor was IKEA . We had no complaints. I would recommend it. We were really impressed with the Montreal Espace Confort hotel. The rooms are modern and have good facilities including kitchenette, the staff are very friendly and the location perfect for tourists with many restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. The continental breakfast included in the price was great. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other visitors to Montreal. We stayed at the Espace from June 29 to July 5, 2006 in order to enjoy the jazz fest. We were very happy with this hotel based on the location, nice rooms and cheap rates. It isn't all perfect though. I stayed in room 201 and it is very noisy with the stairwell right behind the bed. I would suggest that any room ending in 01 will be near the stairs and should be avoided unless you want to wear earplugs while you sleep (yuck). Also, the shower in my room didn't have too much pressure, however, this was not the case in two of the other rooms my friends stayed in which had a good deal of pressure (go figure). All in all, it was a nice clean hotel with comfortable rooms that aren't shoddy at all. The rate was fantastic as well. The wi-fi for the internet isn't so great. We actually ended up using the wi-fi from the neighbouring hotel. I would recommend this hotel and would definately stay there again, just not in room 101, 201, 301, or 401. I really enjoyed this little hotel, in an interesting street to say the least, lots of cafes and colourful characters. The hotel is modern but boutique, the room was very comfortable. It had plenty of space, a refrigerator, microwave and TV, all you could want in a short stay. The bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean. The room was back off the street and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful and if you need breakfast early you can help yourself as it is laid out very early in the morning. It is about a 20 minute easy walk to the city centre or 10 minute walk to the nearest metro stop. I stayed here one night before departing for Quebec and was booked elsewhere for my return to Montreal but changed the booking to this hotel so actually stayed there twice within two weeks. I recommend it for those within a budget, solo travellers and young couples. this hotel is a very good hotel, the price is very good for its quality, the hotel is clean and new!!! Besides, the location is very good!!! If you are going to Montreal, this is a great option!

This is a nice enough hotel, and right in the middle of the action during summer festival season but I had some problems. One is the suggestion on their website that the gold rooms come with a parking spot. In fact, there is no parking, and they simply invite you to use the public parking garage under the library, a few blocks away. Fortunately you do get to stay in a room in the hotel after you pay, but I had a problem with that too. For a reason never explained, I was charged immediately on booking the room after reserving on the hotel website. The management insisted that they did not charge my card for the reservation, even though I went so far as to show them the charge on my card, and called the credit card company on the phone tell them that indeed, my card was charged by them, on the day that I made the reservation, for the amount of the reservation. I could resolve this by disputing the charge through the credit card company, but obviously this is more trouble than it was worth. We booked four nights there and the first night literally more than 100 bed bugs crawled on our beds. And BITE US!!! Some were bean sized!!!! We had to leave the hotel the next morning, but had to leave our luggages and clothes in the room to get exterminated. I asked for a refund for the rest of the nights and a $30 dry cleaning fee. They promised to call me next day about the refund. Never did. I waited for 3 days and called them. The staff told me she was busy and couldn't find her boss. I said I could talk to your boss if you give me her number. Then she lied more about how busy her boss is and she could only reach her by leaving her text messages, blah blah blah. And surprisingly she forgot my name too. I would never forgot an incident that involves 100 bed bugs so I assume, from the way they handled the situation, it's not a uncommon problem for the hotel and they already developed strategy to avoid any compensations. It's the worst hotel/hostel experiences I've ever had. I can't believe after what happened, they are only focusing on avoiding a tiny $30 dry cleaning fee. If they don't care about their reputation, then I won't keep my mouth shut. Don't go. Our hotel experienced a recent problem with bed bugs within one of our rooms.
