5 of 5  Excellent value for money...would highly recommend, A TripAdvisor Member, Ipswich, July 25, 2008

We went to L'Ambiance resort, Bodrum after reading many mixed reviews. When we arrived we were pleasently surprised. The appearance of the hotel is very pleasant. All drinks are all inclusive until 12 midnight and the food is good. On a couple of nights they had chefs cooking fresh food in front of people, pizza, kebeb ect.

It depends what you expect all inclusive food to be like, its is never going to be a la carte as you are caterig for the masses but, there was a range of food to choose from. Plenty of salad, bread and pasta with a few meat and sauce dishes also available. Dishes were changed daily. In the morning there was a chef who would cook fresh eggs if you do not like continental breakfasts. Again, plenty of bread, melon ect available.

It was worth going all inclusive for the drinks alone but, we only eat out of the hotel once as there was plenty on offer.

The rooms were clean and confortable...no complaints.

The only one peice of advice I would give is, make sure you get out early if you want a sunbed (by 8am) as towels are put down to reserve sunbeds. This can be somewhat annoying as most people do not start getting to the pool until 11am.

Would definitely recommend this resort.

5 of 5  Had a Fantastic Time, A TripAdvisor Member, scotland, June 20, 2007

When we first arrived,it was approx 9pm at night. The restaurant was supposed to be serving meals til 9.30pm. The waitors looked surprised to see us and more or less told us to hurry. there wasnt a great selection so we ended up with soup. This wasnt the best first impression although the hotel itself was lovely and the staff appeared helpful.

The room - rooms are small, ensuite with shower. Probably the smallest hotel room ive ever stayed in abroad but depends what u look for in a hotel room. Its got all u need and a fridge which was good and not like u spend all your time in the rooms. The rooms were very clean and the male maid kept the room lovley and clean and put flowers in the room etc and added a personal touch. Only major complaint about the room was the air cond, or lack of it. we could just bear the heat and this ws early june, so duno how bad it will be in july/aug.

As the evening meal was disapointing we were looking forward to a big fry up for brekkie. We were yet again disapointed with the food as they didnt serve up anything like that at all. We thought that if this is the food on offer, we cant live on this for a fortnight. the food however improved everyday and the selection was better. We realised the first week that the food was geared towards french, german n russian ppl but towards the 2nd week, we were looking forward to every meal and enjoyed it. The waitors were lovely n very attentive. as were the bar staff. they would remember your tipple and always had a drink ready for you.

The pool was excellent as were the loungers and there was always plenty to choose from. Pool had to be the best part.

The entertainment staff were lovely and good fun. all the staff were friendly. service fantastic.

The location of the hotel is great aswell as ur a 10mins walk to gumbet which has lots of bars and restaurants aswell as a good beach. You are a 25min walk to bodrum or you can easily get a taxi or dolmus. Bodrum has lots of shops, a lovely marina with bars and restaurants and the market.

Overall, we had a fantastic holiday, and despite my little gripes at the start of my speel, id go back to bodrum in a flash and certainly stay at the hotel again. We had a fab time and the staff and pool just made the holiday.

Ill also add that i wouldnt say the hotel is 4* but you have to remember this is turkey, not spain. Dont go with high expectations or like us, you will initially be disapointed. i would highly reccommend this hotel :-)

4 of 5  Great for the money!, A TripAdvisor Member, Fife, October 5, 2008

After reading previous reviews I felt I had to leave my experience for others to read.

Our hotel room was fairly small as there were 3 of us but more than adequate. Everything was so clean and the housekeeping was fantastic. The airconditioning was great too! The staff in the hotel couldnt do enough for you. Anything that we asked for was dealt with very promptly and with a smile! The pool area was really clean, tidied all day and we always got our favourite sunbeds! The food was buffet style and was maybe not to everyones taste but we all managed to find something we liked. Its not top notch cusine but you only get what you pay or and we had a very cheap holiday so it was more than value for money!! The entertainment was a bit disappointing as there was only the belly dancer night but Gumbet and Bodrum is so easy to get to the nightlife is never far away!

4 of 5  Lovely Holiday, A TripAdvisor Member, North Yorkshire, October 2, 2008

Just returned last night from the L'ambiance Hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definatley return. The staff were happy, and helpful, and loved to chat and ask us if we were ok, nothing was a problem.

The site is pretty, and well maintained, the pool area is clean and safe, and you can get towels form reception every day for the pool..

you can sit inside or outside for meals, and the waiters are constantly cleaning away plates and glasses,I never once saw food left on tables, never mind seeing cats on the table????

There were about six little cats that wandered around the gardens, not scruffy moggies, and would take a morsel of food if you offered, but they didn't beg.

Our room was immaculate, clean sheets and towels everyday,Sometimes flowers were left on our bed.

the balconies are small, but this was not a problem as the gardens were nice to sit in.

Take a travel kettle, and tea/coffee if you like a cuppa in your room.

breakfast is traditional turkish/continental NO CHIPS EVER.

lunch and evening meal was always frshly prepared with a nice selection of salads, pasta dishes, potatoe dishes, chips, meats etc

The hotel is situated between bodrum, and Gumbet, and easily accessible by Dolmus or Taxi....or a nice stroll. If you want a relaxing Holiday you will enjoy this Hotel.if you want alively party atmosphere it will not be for you.

4 of 5  GREAT HOLIDAY, NICE HOTEL!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, fife, July 17, 2008

after reading the previous reviews i didnt know what to expect.

myself and my partner arrived early evening. As we checked in we took a look around. the hotel seemed really nice.

We were ascorted to our room through the lovely gardens by a staff member (gave him a small tip).

Our room was great. air con, clean, fridge, tv - what more can you ask for?? cleaner in everyday etc....

we found the food to be extreamly good. plenty of salad stuff, great cooked meals. lots to choose from.

the drinks were great too. However there was only 1 bar which was quite rubbish as it got busy and the guys serving took ages!!

Bodrum and Gumbet are just a wee walk away. great shops in bodrum and a nice beach in gumbet.

this was a great holiday - my first time in turkey, i will be back!

4 of 5  Great pool, pretty surroundings and the ancient ruins!, A TripAdvisor Member, Chester, June 19, 2008

The resort is really attractive with lovely white walls, tumbling pink flowers, spiral stairs and a big pool. There are big cushions to lounge on around the pool area or you can wander round the ruins of Myndos Gate and various old tombs which make this resort really unique.

The room was kept very clean and we came back on several occasions to find flowers scattered accross the bed and towels in heart shapes etc which we thought was a lovely touch.

The food wouldn't be to everyone's tastes but it was perfect for us as we like to try new things and I love salads and olives which there was always plenty of! If you prefer burger and chips then this probably isn't the resort for you- I tried a burger one day and it was clearly not their speciality. The wine wasn't incredible but it wasn't bad.

The bus stop is located near to the hotel and buses come regularly so you can head off on day trips very easily. You'd need to get the bus to go to the beach as there isn't one near the resort.

Overall we had a great stay and loved the resort!

4 of 5  Loved it!, A TripAdvisor Member, England, November 13, 2007

When we arrived at the hotel we were a little disappointed. We were not sure what to do with ourselves and there was no entertainment so we spent the evening in the reception as the weather was rainy and stormy. The rooms were basic but 'doable'. The shower did not have 'hot' water as we know it but if you were quick you came out feeling clean and 'refreshed'!

The restaurant service was excellent and the waiters were darlings! Very courteous and helpful. The food was a bit repetative but there was always something to choose from and we didn't go hungry. The deserts were great.

The entertainment was only on two nights of our stay and this included Turkish Night which involved Turkish dancers, breakdancers and a belly dancer. This show was excellent. The other entertainment night involved bingo and a 'snake man'! Ok if you like snakes and Prince (the singer). He looked remarkably like him!

The reception staff were always very polite and helpful. They spoke good english. The bar staff were also very courteous and helpful and we spent many a night talking with them and struggling to understand each other! Very funny.

The trips we booked were fantastic. We had a full day all inclusive boat trip, a turkish bath, a trip to Turgutreis market and a good night out in Gumbet eg. entertainment and karaoke bar. We went into Bodrum one day and had a lovely Turkish lunch eg. kebabs. We spent a couple of days relaxing by the pool and that was very pleasant.

Overall our visit to this resort was very good. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. My husband and I had travelled with our teenage daughter and her friend and we were all made very welcome. We will certainly be going back.

4 of 5  holiday to remember, A TripAdvisor Member, s.wales uk, September 22, 2007

rite........... we arrived in bodrum and the taxi man after taking us all round the resort droped us off. the drive was a scary experence as they dont keep to the lanes or even the right side of the road!!!

so, we arrived and unpacked. on first inpressions it was very nice and rooms were big enougth. only two problems the shower water was only warm around 4pm evey day and the toliet was leaking slightly.

for breakfast there were eggs, eggs and well more eggs!!!

or cerel.

dinner there were left overs from the night before or there was a burger bar which did chips turkish pizza and burgers!! (very nice)

for tea there were all kinda wierd and wounderfull things to try. and there was a baraque eveynight.

the pool was stunning and the bar was always full of drinks.

the salon was great my boyfriend has a turkish shave and i had my nails done!

also, at the hotel there were two nice young men that asked us to go on a photo shoot so we did they took us down to the beach and took around 300 photos and then we choose ten to keep for around 80ylt.

we, also found the greatest place on the earth kenny's bar brilliant fun love all the guys there helped us out so much.food was brilliant and you can even get english food if you miss home!

we had a turkish bath and massage wow brill!!!

oh and on the down side i ended up in hosptial for 4 days because of something i had eaten so be careful and dont even have ice in your drinks. overall brill holiday we going back next june!

4 of 5  Lovely!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, northamptonshire, July 2, 2007

Were told that we were going to this hotel when we got to the airport as the one we had booked (Regal Resort in Torba) was apparently shut. Not too sure what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised.

There is a lovely pool, the rooms are nice and the food was OK (not brilliant but very palatable). Extremely good value for what we paid for the holiday (£250 each all inclusive). The hotel is only 10-15 mins walk from the Bodrum sea front.

Although the hotel is not near a beach they do have a private beach which they will shuttle you to for free and you can get free drinks there as well. The beach was very quiet although there are watersports available if you want them.

Our only complaint was that the air conditioning in our room was not brilliant - but then it did have to cope with the 40 degree temperatures when we were there (25th June to 2nd July).

3 of 5  Basic, A TripAdvisor Member, kent, October 8, 2008

The location of the hotel is more Gumbet than Bodrum. It is well situated and the hotel is very pretty. The first room we were put in was very small, but after we moved to another room it was much better. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the pool was lovely.

However....the food was VERY basic, and unfortunately when i returned back to england (very ill) it was discovered i had contracted salmonella...whether it could be pin pointed to the food in this hotel i dont know but the food area could have been cleaner in my opinion and it sometimes looked like the same food was used at lunch and dinner.

Overall the actual hotel/pool area/surrounding towns were really great..but the food REALLY lets down this hotel.

3 of 5  Very good, do not listen other comment, A TripAdvisor Member, Verviers, July 28, 2008

Two days before going to ambiance hotel, i went to see comment on tripadvisor, i was just scared of going there, 35 comment and none really positive.

I will give you my point of view on this hotel.

Room: Our room, number 408 was really clean, towel were changed everyday, toilet and room, cleaned everyday too. Climatisation was ok, and the room was just lovely, with nice chairs, really modern too.

The hotel himself is really pretty, nice white bloc as you can see in bodrum, arbored with plants and climbing vine on the wall. it is situated in the "center" but once in, you cannot see the outside, it si situated near a historical center.

Pool is very nice and very clean, there is wooden long chairs and big cushion and a pool for baby. the staff is just so nice, and take care of you every time you need them.

We went there on july, 10 days and i have not eated 2X the same thing. of course we had potatoes nearly everyday, but one time, it was with garlic, and the other days they were grilled, next day it was sliced with tomato

Cook prepare eggs or omelette or crepe in the morning and the night it was grilled meet, or Turkish pizza or khebab.

they are no Animations, no sport, the only things you can do is just lay down and relax, with some good music.

We were in all in formule, so you can drinks from 7 to 12 pm. The pool-bar is open the whole day. but be careful after midnight they charge you for drinks.

So meal is serve at breakfast, after you have to wait till miday to eat, then hamburger + french fries is served near the pool + typical food prepare by a turkish lady then some, biscuit at 4 pm, then the evening meal.

The turkish bath is available for free and you must go there, it's a very nice thing to do .

We went there with a 2 years old baby, and we could keep the room until 5 pm the day we left, i just explain the baby must sleep on the afternoon; nice things from them.

This is not my best holiday hotel, but the price is not the price i paid when we went to Kenya or Thailand.

For that price it's a very good bargain and it's just the real service for that price. you don't pay 2000€ for 10 days so don't expect to get a 2000€ hotel, and be realist or pay more...

3 of 5  Tips & Tricks to get you by :-, A TripAdvisor Member, U.K, June 16, 2008

L'Ambiance is a loverly place to stay if you are 70 -100 years old !

The accomidation is basic but it's only to sleep in, the facilities are fairly non -existent, 1 bar ,little entertainment except the cross dressed belly dancer(got to be a bloke!).

The food was very repeatative with the same menu most days.

My wife didn't eat meat for the week we stayed.

Being all-inclusive you would expect that the hotel could cope with the needs of the quests.Clearly it could not. Other Brits said on at least 3 occasions during their 2 week stay they ran out of whiskey. They ran out of vodka on my penulimate night.

The staff tried their best but even they were demorilised and looking for other jobs.

Don't bother with the 'a la carte' its not worth the wait ,more 'a la plate' if you go get as far away from the barbeque as possible or you will be smoked too.

Forget the prize draw. For 10 euros you can have a ticket to win gold and silver jewellery. Every body seemed to win. The catch is you have to go to a specific store in Bodmin to collect your prize.Get the drift!

what ever it's foble's all we wanted was a bed , sun . booze and a laugh and I can't complain wegot them.

3 of 5  CHEAP CHEERFUL!, A TripAdvisor Member, Bournemouth UK, June 4, 2008

We were on a tight budget and was trying to spend as little as possible, so searched the internet and found this hotel, it said it was 5* all inclusive for 520 quid, bargain we thought! We read the reviews and new not to expect anything amazing for such a bargain price!

To be honest i was suprised i really thought it was going to be absolutely awful, but infact we had a good holiday, the weather in the first week of october its was an average of 28c-30c all week, when we arrived it was 5am, they gave us some sandwiches as breakfast wasnt open, we got given a twin room we asked and they moved us to a double, the rooms were clean little old but liveable, we were only there to sleep and change! The bathroom though was disgusting that was the only thing that i really hated it was GRIM.

The free booze was watered down, but in that heat we drank fizzy or soft drinks all day, the food was varied turkeys dishes, but cause we saved on the price of the holiday we had more spends, and ate out most nights.

Gumbet is a short walk down a hill, once you done it once it was easy to do again, and bodrum was not far either.

The trip to pamakule was a nightmare most of the day was spent in the bus, it was to far for a day trip.

the pool was lovely and clean and nice especially when your roasting.

I wouldnt choose to go there again, but if i was desperate and only had minium to spend on a hol, then i would!

Our holiday was made good as we met a lovely couple who we spent most of our evenings with.

they had entertainment on 2 nights of the 7 we were there. The guys behind the bar were friendly.

3 of 5  you get what you pay for, A TripAdvisor Member, Cardiff, September 19, 2007

This resort is in a good location. It is a five minute walk from the bar strip in gumbet and a 5 min bus ride into Bodrum itself.

The staff are mainly polite and helpful, especially the bar manager, Joseph and the room attendant we had. If you are polite to them, they are polite to you.

Other reviews say that Gumbet is like Blackpool Pleasure beach but great weather and a great beach. This is true. If you're out for a classy night out - it's not for you.

The resort pool is fab. It looks beautiful in the night. The whole resort is set next to a historical site which is really interesting and a great photo opportunity.

During our stay, there was a professional photographer offering to take couples/families to the beach free of charge with an excellent rate on any photo's you're interested in.

We saw the Turkish night and it was brilliant fun.

There were mainly couples and groups of visitors. There was only one family during our stay.

The food is a bit boring. This was our first all inclusive holiday and we've decided we wouldn't go all inc again as it was so cheap to eat out and you can have what you want, when you want. I have to say that they were serving snacks throughout the day so you would never go hungry.(all incl. drinks served up until 1am)

The rooms are very basic but again, it's what you pay for. On our first night, the room attendant put flowers on the bed which was a lovely suprise.

We had read all the reviews before our departure and just went with an open mind. We both had a great holiday and agreed that if we visited Turkey again, we would stay for 2 weeks as it took us a week to get used to the diet.

The tips I'd have to give include:

Take a plug in mosquito repellant for your room & spray repellant for the evening,

Take an iron - the hotel charges for laundry service and doesn't provide an iron.

take immodium plus & constipation relief as you will most probably suffer in one way or the other whilst there!!

Take British 10 pound notes to spend at the market. You will get a better deal.

good places to go: liquid bar, kenny's bar, red dragon, the golden spoon,

Go on the 5 bay boat trip,

Book a turkish bath through the hotel/a hotel.

get a taxi from/to the airport. Its £30 each way - cheaper than a transfer.

Hope you have a fab time if you've booked a room here!

3 of 5  Not for kids. they would be bored., A TripAdvisor Member, Penzance, United Kingdom, July 14, 2007

Not a bad Hotel but our air conditioning was rubbish, actually hotter in our room than out on some days!! The pool ares is nice but you have to be down early to get a spot. The food was okay but very repetitve. they have a barbecue which sometimes was nice. The room are okay but our bathroom was not very clean and a couple of times there were parasite worms on it. Nice.

We found the hotel very boring and did not think much of Gumbet. I thunk it depends what sort of Holiday you want. The hotel was fine though, much better than thr Regal resort, where we got moved from.

5 of 5  Hôtel génial, A TripAdvisor Member, Mons, August 27, 2008

Mathilde.

Chambre : taille moyenne, propre.

Pool bar : alcool locaux servis.

Bonnes vacances!

4 of 5  bon séjour, A TripAdvisor Member, Metz, France, September 4, 2008

4 of 5  Les gens sont vraiment difficiles!, A TripAdvisor Member, liege, July 25, 2008

4 of 5  Vacances FANTASTIQUES, A TripAdvisor Member, belgium, September 24, 2007

3 of 5  Vendu 4 étoiles vaut 3 et encore, A TripAdvisor Member, TOURNAI, August 10, 2008

3 of 5  Tout sauf AMBIANCE...

2 of 5  Dissapointing, A TripAdvisor Member, birmingham, November 5, 2008

The Ambiance was a nice enough hotel but could be so so much better and has lots of potential.

The location is excellent in the middle of Bodrum and Gumbet, Pool is lovely if a little chilly and lovely surroundings, nice and clean and sweet rooms.

Main disappointment here was the food. I wouldnt even mind eating rice and chips for a week as long as it was hot , and it wasnt it was less than warm which just made for a poor meal.

The bread was gorgeous I chowed down on this most of the week. Too much food was just recycled for the next meals though for example rice made into soup and chips reheated from lunch. Nearly every person in my group was ill during the holiday which says alot.

A la carte was a joke, 10 people in our group, 4 were served first then the remaining six had to wait half an hour. again poor meals, mine was chargrilled and black. The cats were annoying, they were constantly begging at your feet and sometimes scared some of the children in our group, one was rather upset when a cat stole her cake. At one point we counted 6 cats under our table lying in wait for you to drop food. Im a cat lover and i dont mind seeing them around the hotel but i think the staff should make more effort to keep them away at meal times.

Overall the staff were friendly and happy to help at all times. We did find the drinks at the bar to be either very strong or so weak you couldnt taste the alcohol. I got drunk the first night of my stay and im sure thats only because we drank our own vodka that day. We even resorted to buying our own drink from the supermarket.

As I said rooms were lovely - we experienced problems on arrival as they did not have a room for a family of 5 which included 3 young children and they expected them to stay in 2 rooms!!! Had hot water 25% of the time and only if you showered at certain times of the day, was always told it would be on in an hour which never happened.

Entertainment was poor poor poor. Did a music quiz one night and it consisted of them playing 22 songs in their entirety and you hadfto guess the song. Bingo was a wash out, the Jewellery prize they promised looked like tat.

Overall I got what I wanted out of my holiday here it was relaxing and we still had a gret time, but I would not recommend this hotel , It is far from 5* and with the great food you can get in resorts there is no need to go all inclusive so save your money.

2 of 5  DO NOT GO HERE, A TripAdvisor Member, turkey, October 18, 2008

Do not go to this hotel the food is really bad the service is non exsistant and if you do not attend meal time at the very start then there is no meat left within 1/2 hour i.e. evening meal 7 pm till 21.30pm by 7.30 there is no meat left and that is it - full stop.

they constantly ran out of alcohol beer/gin/whisky/vodka with no replacement for 2 days all that was said we (the guests) were alcoholics!!

The rooms were cleaned and beds changed daily but the showers were so small you ended with bruises in parts of the body that you did not know exsisted. They have a staff change every 3/4 weeks and I was informed of this by someone who had gone there 4 times in the past 18 months the only reason she went back was she was going out with the manager who got terminated whilst we were there and she said never again.

I go to Turkey regularly and go on holiday 3/4 time a year but this is one of the worst places I have stayed and Turkey is really expensive now more so than U.K. watch the airport and take your own food! Good luck

2 of 5  Where's the food?!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Birmingham, June 20, 2008

We booked our holiday through Hotels4U.com - NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE THERE CRAP!!!

We read the reviews on this hotel after we had booked - oops. We were absolutely dreading it but when we arrived at 4am we asked for a "nice clean room" and we did get that. Everything was spotless to be fair.

The hotel is quite nice compared to ones we saw around the area and also based on what other travellers said. HOWEVER.. this hotel is sooooo badly managed it is unbelievable. Staff work 18hrs a day and try so hard to please. However, 5 staff left on one day due to being overwork and not paid! We were told the hotel get £2 pp per day to supply meals? Management lounged around whilst they were understaffed and letched at any given opportunity.

Buffet meals were not replenished quick enough and resulted in queues of people waiting or some who arrived mid-way through dining time were left with near to nothing to eat. Very poor indeed.

We went All Incl but ate out 3x but we did get what we paid for to be honest. £329 all incl for 7nights? Not bad compared to some holidays I have been on!

We may have been lucky with our room compared to some but I feel the only things that really let this hotel down was the lack of food and poor management.

2 of 5  Much better resorts are available for the money!, A TripAdvisor Member, Israel, June 9, 2008

The Lambiance was not our first or second choice resort. Unfortunately, everything else was sold out, except for the Lambiance, and for good reason. I should have paid more attention to Trip Advisor's recommendations. The resort is rated as a 4 star resort, but, I would not rate it more than 2.5 stars. For most of iut stay (4 days), there was no hot water - luke warm at best. The rooms were of a 2 star hotel. There was little choice in food for breakfast and dinner. For dinner, my family of 5 would usually go for a walk and have a snack on the way. The swimming pool was nice and well taken care of. I learned to book trips muck longer in advance. For the amount of money that we paid, I would have expected a much better resort.

2 of 5  Rundown 2 star, A TripAdvisor Member, redcar, September 14, 2007

This Hotel can only be described as a 2 star hideaway. It was probably a nice place when Thompsons were using it. The rooms and the resort is run down and there is no attention to detail for running repairs IE the sunbeds are damaged ,the wheels fall off . There are some really dubious stains on the covers. The food was acceptable although repetative.

My main concerns were the shop prices 4x as much as outside.

There was a problem with language and as such quite a few misunderstandings.

The final straw was that on the day of departure the all inclusive stops at 12 and if you wish to eat it will cost you £18.00 per head no exceptions.

All in all a low class budget resort which will over the next few years fall by the wayside

2 of 5  Not much English, Repetitive food, A TripAdvisor Member, bolton, August 9, 2007

We stayed here from 22nd July until 5th August after chaging ourselves from the Regal. During the first week we felt we were the only English couple here. Plenty of Belgium, Dutch and Germans. It took a week before the bar staff gave a smile and started to acknowledge we were there as it was taking an eternity to get drinks. The first day we arrived we ordered a beer, what we got was a warm shandy tasting drink from a plastic bottle. It was disgusting. So gin for the rest of the week. The food was same over and over so out of the 2weeks there we moght of satyed for dinner about 3 times, the rest of the time was a Dolmus trip to Gumbet and or Bodrum. The air con was blowing warmish air and the broken fridge was also adding warm air to the room. At one pint we got dressed and took a stroll to McDonalds (24hour) to cool down with a Mcflurry and brilliant A/C.

It was onlt during our seconf week we met a couple from Manchester and that was great to have someone to chat to at the bar. Thanks Darren and Margret. Oh, and sunbathing, forget it, unless you get up very early so you will be much better going to the beach at Gumbet and having a free bed there. Would I go her again. NO.

2 of 5  Hotel [--] !!! Travel Agent Review, A TripAdvisor Member, Sheffield, August 7, 2007

Well, where do i begin...

On arrival, at 4am, they decided to tell us our room was over booked and we had to stay at the hotel next door - Boutique and Spa Bodrium (Fantastic).

We then transfered to our room at 2pm the next day, and if you are expecting a 5 star as stated, then you will be extremly disapointed to say the least.

The surrounds of the hotel are really nice, but a constant smell of sewerage drifting past at intervals was worrying!!!

The rooms are very small, and not of a 5 star standard. They are full of black fly and mosquitos - and we have at least 17 bites to prove it, just like everyone else in the hotel.

The food, well, if you like boiled chicken and rice, and then more boiled chicken and rice, and for a change, boiled chicken and rice then you will have a fab time, but we didnt rate the food at all.

We lived off 3 minute or 5 minute eggs in a morning!!! and salad and bread for our tea - There was a snack bar that did burgers and chips at lunch time, but every day becomes a joke.

The drinks are poor also, if you like non alcholic drinks then you will be fine, as this is what they seemed to be.

We sat at the bar from 7pm until 1am and drank vodka, beer and wine and were still sober when we went to bed - We went into Bodrum and Gumbet a couple of nights, and felt drunk on a couple of bottles it was that bad.

The staff are friendly, and will do anything for you - But dont leave your towels on your bed for one second, not even to get a drink cause they will be gone by the time you get back, and this is only if you manage to get a bed in the first place - Getting up at 7am on holiday to get a sunbed round the pool is not my idea of a rest!!!

Dont expect daily maid service, but the reception are quick at fetching toilet rolls and fresh towels to your room if you phone them.

A couple of times the cleaner knocked on our door at 630pm to clean our room - which we told him not to bother, as at this time we are getting ready to go out for our evening meal at the hotel, so a maid cleaning the room while you are getting ready is the last thing you need.

You do need to be down for your meals the moment the restaurant opens or you will have alot of trouble finding a table to sit to eat.

Overall, definatly nowhere near a 5star, a ok 3 star and thats been generous.

Weather was possibly the only good thing about it to be honest.

2 of 5  be warned, A TripAdvisor Member, liverpool, August 2, 2007

Worst holiday i have been on. Dont go! I have never written a review or do i pay attention to them but felt i had to try to warn people about this hotel.

The hotel itself is ok, not a 4 star but nice. There aren't any english people staying at the hotel and the staff act like they dont speak english but then talk english to the germans and dutch.

You are made to wait at the bar for 20 minutes while the barman dries glasses before you are served. The food is very repetitive.

There is only entertainment on a tuesday which is a bellydancer.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere apart from a small shopping centre opposite.

When staying at the hotel i felt very intimidated and in the way. The hotel is so anti english its unbeliveable, there are a couple of nice waiters but apart from that everyone hates english. We met an english couple the day before we were due to go home and that made all the difference. We spoke to somebody other than eachother and had a good night down the road in the shopping centre. They felt the same as us and tried to swap hotels but had a turkish rep who had a bad attitude towards them.

Please dont go, i am only writing this because i don't want anybody to have a bad holiday, if you choose to go then that is up to you at least i tried.

2 of 5  worst food you'll ever eat, A TripAdvisor Member, Carlow, Ireland, June 18, 2007

This resort is not suitable as an all inclusive destination. If you went b&b and were eating and drinking elsewhere then it would be fine, but when you pay for food and drink in advance you expect to get it. Accomodation is basic but clean, pool area is beautiful and staff are very friendly. Our main complaint was there was no choice of food and what was on offer was often inedible. One night your choice for dinner was plain rice, plain spagetti, eggplant, purple cabbage, turkish pissa. grilled mackrell with head intact, salad or soup. Another night the only difference was instead of mackrell you could have boiled chicken but when you looked for the meat it was just the carcas of the chicken I scooped out the spine of the chicken. The drinks are another place where this resort falls down beer is served from a plastic bottle which is kept on the bar in the heat so you mightaswell drink soup, mid week martini, brandy red wine all ran out. We felt that the management had your money and now wanted you to go elsewhere and pay for your food and drink again. There was very little entertainment and when there was it was another money making racket, €50 for one strip to play bingo, €5 for a raffel ticket where you are bound to win a prize and have to go to a local gold factory to collect where they try to sell you more gold. We would return to turkey but not to this resort

2 of 5  Do not expect a good dinner, A TripAdvisor Member, Sao Paulo, May 20, 2007

The accomodation and the facilities were good, as expected in a resort. The major problem we faced was with the reception desk. The lady was not courteous, it seemed as if she wanted to get rid of us quickly. She didn't explained us that we had an open bar service and that we had to use a plastic bracelet to get the drinks and the food. The porter was really friendly, as some of the waiters in the restaurant. The food was awful.

2 of 5  A little disappointed, A TripAdvisor Member, February 19, 2006

My boyfriend and I stayed here in October last year, it is a beautiful hotel and the flowers really make this resort stand out. The pool was lovely and the views stunning.

The bar/restaurant staff were really friendly.

We were upgraded to a suite for an extra £10 a night, they do look very nice and are very spacious but the floor was very dusty/dirty so make sure you wear something on your feet otherwise you will have dirty sheets.

We stayed at the hotel on half board basis, the buffet is varied but because half the turkish food is not labelled you tend not to try it for fear it might taste vile!!!! If you go to the hot dishes they are explained so you tend to know what you’re getting.

The water was either tepid (couldn't stay in bath for more than 5 mins) or cold. We did mention this to reception, the manager and even the owner. The manager came to test it and said that it was warm and the same as what she had in her room but she would get someone to look at it. Funny enough the next day after a maintenance man came round the water was hotter but this only lasted for one day. We both had bad colds so a hot bath was definitely in need as the weather was surprisingly cold for the first half of the holiday.

The location is at the top of a hill, there are regular buses that pass by and are easy to use. You either get on the orange bus, which goes through the town to Gumbet, or the blue bus, which goes around the coast to Gumbet. Each take approx 20 mins round trip.

If you are going to book some excursions then don't book through the travel agent they are double the price. Instead go to the town and see what excursions they have to offer but don't take the first that come along (cannot remember the name but we went to one run by a woman as you first hit the town), make sure you haggle!!! I would definitely recommended a Turkish bath at the start of your holiday, it leaves you feeling very relaxed and at the end your guaranteed a golden tan.

We also visit Pumakale which was nice but make sure you do the 2 day trip as it is not worth just a day as you are on the coach for a total of 5-6 hours and you have to pay extra to go into Cleopatra's pool.

I do believe that if the weather was nicer and it wasn't a week before closing we would of had a much better holiday at L'ambiance so please do not let this put you off.

1 of 5  Do not go there !!!!!!!!!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, cardiff, September 30, 2008

Do not go there,it was the worst hotel I have ever been to.There were cats running around on the dining tables eating the scraps left from the previous nights meal. The food was horrible. We had chips for breakfast lunch and dinner and only had mashed potato once in two weeks. They served Turkish Pizza every meal and put the hard boiled eggs left over from breakfast in it at lunch. The rooms are tiny and claustrophobic and the showers are dirty and cracked. The balconies are so small that if you have a chair on there you can't get through the doors to sit on it.The pool area is quite nice but most of the sun loungers are broken and dangerous. Also there are very few umbrellas so most people have to sit in full sun.The bar kept running out of beer, vodka and cola and they say wait two minutes but it usually takes several hours before they restock the bar.I say again DO NOT GO THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 of 5  Where "NOT" to stay in Turkey, A TripAdvisor Member, England, October 28, 2007

Arriving at this hotel early on a Saturday morning it was easy to believe that there was indeed an "ambiance" about the place. The blocks of rooms were very nicely laid out in gardens abundant with various flowering flora. Then we entered our room. The only way to describe it was dirty and dilapidated. The main light on the ceiling hung by only two thin wires and was in grave danger of falling off altogether. The shower was covered in black mould, the bedspread was dirty and the decor had seen better days. The mini bar was empty of even a bottle of water - not what you expect from what was offered as a "five star all-inclusive holiday". The next day we ventured out hoping that things would look better after a few hours sleep- how disappointed we were. The hotel is overrun with cats - the restaurant included! The bottom of the swimming pool was littered with empty cigarette packets and "other" debris and the wooden "decking” is in very bad need of replacement - there are rusty screws and nails sticking out, pieces of wood missing and other bits jutting out just waiting to trip the unwary sunbather. The restaurant chairs were covered in muddy paw prints from the cats, the plates and cutlery are filthy and there is a general air about the place, the staff included, of dejection, decay and general slovenliness. The food served each night was both repetitive and unimaginative - chicken every night except one! - and was often a reconstitution of the previous evenings meal just renamed! There are not two a la carte restaurants as claimed. In fact there is not even one. If you book - and pay extra for - an a la carte menu then they simply put a reserved notice on one of the tables in the normal restaurant. One evening they actually reserved all of the tables in the restaurant for this purpose and, if you did not have a reservation, you had to sit outside in a marquee type construction with the smokers - of which we are not - and where, after a day of rain, the floors where in deep puddle. All very well except for the fact that only about two tables in the restaurant were actually occupied as a la carte!. We did not eat that night as we were too upset at being treated like this. Again, not what you would expect from a five star all-inclusive holiday!. At no point during our stay did the water temperature go above "tepid" in the rooms and to fill the hand basin we had to use the shower head stretched across the room as the water was so slow to run out of the taps. Complaining to the staff at the hotel proved to be a complete waste of time as they did nothing about any of the above. They could not move us as there were no other rooms available.

From day two of our holiday all we wanted to do was come home and we will never visit Bodrum again. We have had several holidays in Turkey previously and have had wonderful times but this time it was so appalling that we would NEVER recommend any one to stay there and felt that we had to warn people of how bad it actually is. I have visited the hotels website and can honestly say that I do not recognise the place from either it's description or most of the photos as being the place where we actually stayed. I can only think that the information and photos are from when the hotel was first opened some years ago.

In our opinion this hotel would struggle to obtain 2 stars and is not, nor ever will be, worthy of a 4 or 5 star rating.

Bref, dommage!

2 of 5  Déception, A TripAdvisor Member, Marche en Famenne, February 26, 2008

2 of 5  Beaucoup d'efforts à faire !, A TripAdvisor Member, ostende, October 9, 2007

1 of 5  Sehr enttäuscht: Niemals 4 Sterne wert!, A TripAdvisor Member, Regensburg, September 8, 2008

Hotelkategorie: Niemals 4 Sterne!

1 of 5  Hôtel à éviter, A TripAdvisor Member, Liège, November 11, 2007
