average but noise/light problem | Read all reviews
This hotel is average, nothing special, nothing to remember, nothing to look forward to. * Rooms are small but well maintained. Didn't like that the toilet had a glass door facing the bed. Did miss some basic amenities such as a shoe horn ... * Corridors reminded me of some 1960s administrative building. * Breakfast was disappointing - there was some selection but nothing that really appealed to me. * Hotel is well connected with a metro and bus stop just round the corner. So far everything just average. However there were two problems which were really disturbing: - One side of the hotel faces a huge office building that is lit up brightly all night through and there's no way to completely shade the windows of the room. - On the same side of the hotel the corridor between the hotel and this office building will reflect and amplify the noise from the frequently passing trains. Even though the windows are otherwise soundproof the train noise gets through and is disturbuing.

Fantastic hotel with excellent location. Stayed there several times now on business and leisure and I always like to return. Hotel is directly located on Ku'damm, Bahnhof Zoo (subway, S-Bahn, trains) is only a 3 minute walk away, Zoo 10 minute walk. Staff is friednly, breakfast buffet is well worth the money, although it may seem expensive in the first place. Rooms are nicely furbished and very modern. Although the room is very located in the absolute centre, the rooms are quiet. Great Base for Berlin trip! Wife and I stayed for three nights due to her running the Berlin Marathon Sept 2007 Excellent, clean, quiet, comfortable, friendly, Hotel. Breakfast was more than adequate with plenty tasty fare. Highly recommended. Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in June. It was great! Room was clean and modern at an excellent location. The room was also very quiet. It was great value for money. The refreshing ice water with fruit in the lobby is a nice touch. Although there was only 1 internet station at the hotel, it was always available. i wonder why nobody uses it. One down side is that there's no shampoo or conditioner in the toiletry. They provided sample shampoo product for men. Booked the lindner hotel in Berlin for a long weekend in May. Excellent location just of ku'damn street, and a stones throw from the nearest underground and only a couple of hundred metres from zoo station, one of berlins major stations. We booked a standard room with nothing extra and were assigned the room when we arrived (late on a Thursday). This is where we were lucky and we were put in a corner room of the hotel on the second floor. Lucky because the room was nearly twice the size of surrounding rooms (could see this by looking at the fire safety plan on the back of the door). The room itself was amazing with a double bed, large tv, fridge, microwave, shower and bath (seperate), 3 seater couch etc etc. We did not try the hotels facilites due to the close walking distance of nice restaurants and such. Overall a great hotel, especially if you can get a corner room. Oh yeah there is an outdoor aviary about 60m from the main entrance with about 70 parrots in, which was a nice little quiet area (we could actually see this from our LARGE bathroom window). Bye now JJ My second stay in Berlin was at the Lindner on Ku'damm, a much better location than October 2006 when I was in the depths of Mitte. The Lindner was very comfortable, the room had a good bed, good bathroom, and along with very helpful staff, a great location, and great shops etc nearby I have no negative comments. Transport is easy with U Bahn and S Bahn very close by. The hotel is also great value for money. In particular, I liked the free internet in the lobby, free Herald Tribunes every day - and free apples! But not all Lindner hotels are as generous, as I found in Koln. We visited the Lindner for 3 nights and had a wondeful stay. Although we had the smallest room type, it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, and we had a nice view of the Ku' Damm too. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. As others have mentioned, privacy may be an issue at the Lindner, with the stylish glass and full length mirrors leaving nowhere to hide when taking a shower (although presumably only children will be tempted to peek through the hole in the frosted toilet door!). For this reason, I'd recommend sharing a room only with someone you already know very well. The only other niggle was that we had to struggle a bit to get the room-width windows covered by the black-out curtain - but it is possible. We weren't disturbed by any noise. However, the quirky layout aside, the rooms are very nice and the beds large and comfy. There is a safe and minibar, and a wardrobe with hangers and an umbrella which we were very glad to borrow, and a suitcase stand - in fact everything that is needed is there. I think it lives up well to its 4 stars. Public areas are pleasant and the modern art is a nice touch. There is a slick, business-like feel to the hotel, and in fact there were quite a few business people staying there, but tourists were made to feel welcome too. There's a free internet connection just off the lobby if you need to look anything up, which is useful. We didn't eat there, so can't comment on the food. There are many choices for food nearby. The location is easy to reach by public transport. We look forward to returning to the Lindner next time we visit Berlin. What a superb hotel in a superb location. Booked through Travelzoo, we had a Junior Suite overlooking the Ku'damm which is the main shopping street in BERLIN. The excellent buffet breakfast consisted of bacon, sausage, hash browns and eggs, numerous cereals, fruit, fruit juices, cold cooked meats and cheeses, a selection of bread rolls and of course, tea and coffee. All staff were friendly, helpful and spoke excellent english. Our room was not quite ready when we checked in and rather than have us wait for 5 minutes, the receptionist took us to the restaurant where we were given complimentary drinks. Our room was ready by the first sip! The room was excellent with bath tub, huge high pressure shower, twin basins an a separate toilet. Free in room digital safe, multi channel LCD TV, wireless internet, etc etc. The beds were very comfortable and the room very well soundproofed. The U-Bahn (underground) station and bus stops were directly outside the hotel door with links to everywhere in the city via the superb BVG public transport system. Overall an excellent experience and I highly recommend this hotel Six of us (2 couples with 2 and 3 year old girls) have just got back, wow. This hotel is in a great location, especially for shopping. The tour bus (that we took and got us to all of the locations that you might want to see) starts from opposite, so great starting point for sightseeing too. The room was spacious, although not what I would really call a “junior suite” as they refer to it. No separate sitting area, but huge bathroom with bath and shower, and plenty of hanging space. Hey you've got Berlin outside your door, so why would you want to sit in the room anyway. Beds were on the firm side, but were lovely and comfortable, and although we had all of the neon and beautiful Christmas lights right outside the window, the black out curtains did exactly what they should. Breakfast has a great choice and was one of the best I have had for a while. Hot choices included bacon, eggs (boiled, scrambled or fried/omelette on request), sausages and the ‘best’ sausage patties. Then there are yoghurts, fruit, pastries, cereals, various breads, jams, preserves, cheeses, smoked salmon, meats (including delicious cold roast beef, not usual for me for breakfast, but why not, when in Berlin/Rome). If you cannot find a selection for yourself here for a hearty breakfast, then you must have very fussy tastes. The staff were friendly and welcoming and looked after us very well. Always a smile and a hello as we left and returned and when we asked for iron and dental kits at nearly midnight just after we checked in, they arrived within minutes. Hotel Lintner is very modern, first class, and was also great value for the deal we had. We used German Transfer to get to and from the airport. They were there waiting for us on arrival and picked us up from the hotel for our return at the exact time they said they would. Very efficient, great value at 31 euros each way, and much less expensive than a lot of other companies that quoted for the same trip. In fact nearly half the price of another that I almost booked. The driver on the way back played traditional Christmas music (not Slade/Wham etc.) and even gave our 3 year old daughter and her friend a chocolate bar when we got to the airport, which was a lovely touch. Berlin is amazing and we will definitely be going back soon, great in everyway, especially the people who were extremely friendly and welcoming. If you are considering going then do it, and I would recommend this hotel, we will likely stay here again. Only one negative, we tried to eat at the sports bar opposite the hotel, and we were more or less ignored 3 or 4 times, and when we did get a table, we eventually went and helped ourselves to the menus, and were then ignored again for 25 minutes, at which point we left, and had a wonderful great value Italian just of Ku'damm at Ristorante Avanti, Rankestr. 2. Highly recommended. Think we stayed in same suite as Jade girl on a special deal free upgrade with 30% off food and mini bar. Hotel is modern and our room was excellent, spacious and very modern. The bathroom had a bath for a hippo, as well as a shower cubical for the morning wake me u. As some of the previous reveiws have said all the doors are frosted glass but as long as your not too self concious nothing to worry about. Blackout curtains shut out the christmas lights with no problem. Overall the 3 days we stayed at the Ku 'dam were fab, staff very freindly and a good feed. We have just come back from a weekend break at this hotel. My boyfriend took me as a surpise to see the Christmas markets and I have to say it was brilliant. The hotel is located right on the main shopping street (think Oxford Street only not as croweded and CLEAN!) and there are plenty of shops to keep you entertained. We ate in the Hotel one night and the menu was limited but very nice. The breakfast is unbelievable, so much choice. We started with a fry up, then had the cheeses, hams, then the croissants, it's a wonder we could get up from the table. I cant say what the standard rooms were like as we stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor, which was amazing. It had a front room area separated from the bedroom with a long cabinet with the flat screen tv inside which you could spin around depending where you wanted to watch it. The bathroom was massive, with lovely green glass doors, separate toilet area. It even had an office area with desk/laptop. The staff are all really friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Why not Lindner Hotel? Maybe just because there is a great choice of good hotels in Berlin. I think that this hotel is first of all in a perfect location, in the opposite corner of Swissotel, and it is modern with a good design, it is very clean, the staff is friendly...... So there are some very good hotels in Berlin, I have been to Ku'damm 101 (not so close to the center) and to Swissotel (more expensive), but in Lindner you can find a fare of less then EUR 100,00 that is simply incredible for an hotel of this kind! And you can also ask for a free pass for the wellness center in the last floor of the building that is in front of the hotel: you can have a sauna, a steam bath or use the exercise rooms with a wonderful panorama of Berlin from the 15th floor's glazed walls. Finally, the only bad thing is that you must be very carefully with the glazed door of the wc (it hits a metal block-system) and with the glazed door of the shower (it is easy to find a lake outside). We stayed at this hotel 4 nights in Mid March and had an excellent experience. Bus 109 from the airport drops you off in front. The Metro and Bus lines were very well connected with the rest of the city (esp. buses 100 and 200 - which were like taking a city tour!). The staff and the hotel itself was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for more! Definitely would repeat and recommend! Just returned from a four night stay in this hotel. We travelled with two other couples to this hotel and I'm pleased to say that it met all of our expectations. The hotel is in a good location with the underground station (Kurfurstendamn) and train station (Zoologisher Garten) on the door step. All the sights of Berlin were easy to get to using the underground which cost just over 5 Euro each for an all day pass. The hotel and rooms are very clean with large shower and there are glass doors on all w.c.'s so privacy can be maintained. Breakfast was good with hot and cold selections available and all staff when needed were all too happy to help. The hotel is also really close to some great shops and a number of good restaurants if you want to stay local after a day visiting the sights. Just back from Christmas in Berlin and wanted to rave about this hotel and thank all those on the forums who helped with information. It absolutely should be 5 star. It's modern and sleek, with great sized rooms (I even peeked at a single and it was a reasonable size). The staff are fantastic and all speak english and it's right in the centre of the Ku'damm shopping district. We had a brilliant stay for a very good price and it's close enough to walk to everything but if prefer, the public transport is right outside the door. Just arrived back from stopping at this hotel. The place is outstanding for everything. It must be one of the best hotels we have ever stopped in anywhere in the world. Great location for shopping and bars.(Try the sports bar across the road). Good beer and good entertainment. Only downside was when we arrived at Zoostation at 3.00 in the afternoon when it was just going dark.We were approached by down and out youths three times before we actually got out of the station. What they wanted we do not know as we could not understand them but this was only a minor incident after such an outstanding trip.Berlin is terrific. The Christmas markets and shopping are a must. The hotel is the icing on the cake. We will be back very soon. We have just returned from a weeks vacation at this hotel. The pleads from my wife to go back at Xmas for a shopping trip sums up the experience we had while staying at a top class hotel. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by friendly english speaking staff. The room was spotlessly clean , the floor and bar staff were superb at making sure every need was catered for. Location could not have been better, right on KU'Damm with numerous cafes restaurants and street bars all within walking distance. 2 points I'd add, they state 4 star, this hotel should be rated 5***** Point 2 my wife got her way and Lindner has increased my credit card. Looking forward to going back at Xmas. Belfast Stayed at this hotel for 3 days of our honeymoon. Excellent central location, only about 7mins walk from the train station. The hotel itself is very modern, but with lots of nice homely touches. Lovely decor and lighting in the rooms, huge power shower, flat screen tv, mini bar, floor to ceiling mirrors, I could go on. Staff were all very friendly. Lovely bar and outside eating area (part decked/part grassed) with wooden seating and large parasols. We stayed on a b&b basis and the food was excellent. Didn't actually go to the dining area to eat, but treated ourselves to room service every day. You could choose as much as you wanted to eat and it was served on a trolley, all very well presented with a lovely selection of, meats, cheeses, jams, bread, tea, coffee, sausage, eggs, etc. So, basically, I couldn't fault anything at all about this hotel and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone visting Berlin - it was FAB! As for things to do, we actually went on one of the hop on, hop off, open top tour buses around the city which was really good, as you got to see all the main sites. Also spent time at the Zoo which is about 10-15 mins walk from the hotel and lovely to stroll around on a sunny day. In the evening, there were plenty of places to eat, but didn't manage to find a central area with all the bars. Saying that though, The Gecco Bar was a great, laid back place to chill out, where we ended up spending our time on the two nights we were there. One place I definately wouldn't recommend is The Exotic Museum which is between the train station and the hotel - what an absolute waste of time and money. Paid a visit to the bar located on the 2nd floor of the museum (Bar 69), but thought it felt a little seedy. I was the only woman there, the rest were mainly gay couples or men seeking other men so if you're looking for fun in that area, then you'll be ok. we stayed for a week here for our berlin visit. here are my pluses & minuses +spotless room & bathroom +chic styling of hotel/room +pleasent staff &good english speakers +free internet in lobby (& network point in room) +delicious hot/cold buffet breakfast with very wide selection. we missed this very much on returning home ! +metro stop U Kudamme just a few yards from hotel.this is also beside the busstop 109 for tegel. +500m from zoo station and same distance from kaiser Wil church & its surrounding shopping centres +room contained tv/hairdryer, a/c, minibar fridge,2 telephones in each room (i guess german husbands & wives expect their own phone?). even a rain umbrella was provided in each room so u can leave yours at home +hotel on kudame but our room was peaceful.area was safe. -the ensuite bathroom has no 'door' seperating it from the bed, so you will have to get used to this german concept of privacy -lobby pc is provided free of charge so it is often occupied, but opposite hotel we found an easyinternetcafe outlet with very reasonable rates (around a euro per hour) a great hotel. i would definately stay here again. After a not so good experience in a nearby "3 star" I was looking forward to stay at this hotel and I've to admit that my expectations were fully met! I did book a "Run of the house" guessing that in a four star hotel it would still be a good value for money and my guess was right. The design is modern but without forgetting functionality or comfort. The shower was extremely large and that was a big plus to me. Since I'm posting a couple of pictures I took, I'd rather not describe the room in details, just let me confirm that it was spotlessly clean as others here have already stated. The location is very good as you're on the Ku'Damm (very close to the Gedächtniskirche) so you have connections to almost every corner of the city. For example, it was nice to discover that the bus 109 that goes to Tegel stops right in front the hotel! The best part anyway was the staff: receptionists, floor personnel, bartenders... everybody was extremely kind, polite professional and helpful. To me, that's what makes the difference between a nice hotel room and a very pleasant stay. Now I've to find an excuse to go back! Super hotel in great location for shops and station. Modern stylish bedrooms with good furniture and loewe flat screen tvs. Lovely bathroom with large walk in shower and good fittings and lighting, although no door to separate from bedroom (loo enclosed) so the shy might feel slightly exposed. Breakfast was excellent with good range to choose from. Polite staff. Very clean. Would definately recommend, shame we only had one night here on our way back to England. This excellent hotel easily meets its four star rating. The location is excellent right on the Ku'dam, close to the U Bahn. the open top tour buses also stop very close by so you can quickly get aquainted with this great city. Service in the hotel was excellent and for us included a more than adequate breakfast. Berlin itself is becoming one of Europe's foremost cities with develpment on a phenomenal scale and interesting political history to boot. The city has a relatively small population so it never feels over crowded. There are a surprising number of canals so you can also take boat trips of this surprisingly green city. Anyway back to the hotel - spacious rooms, plasma flat screen tv - spotlessly clean. I will certainly stay there again. We stayed 3 nights at Lindner Hotel in Berlin during the Easter days in March 2005. We were a party of two couples and we took 2 business rooms with breakfast. The room was realy a big surprise. Very beautiful, spacious and clean. The bath was large with an open and sexy view. Lindner Hotel is a High tech multimedia Hotel with flat screen tv and a unique design. The bar where the breakfast was, is a trendy tasteful area. The food was excelent and the stuff very helpful. The location is very nice, just on the famous Ku'damm near the Kaiser church and all the known fashion stores in Berlin. We loved it and we will stay again next year for the world cup. Just back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It's location is very good about 500m from Zoo Station & was also well located for buses & U-Bahn. The room was very modern (e.g. LCD flatscreen TV), with plenty of space & very clean. Our room had no view, it looked out over a little garden at the back & the white wall of the adjacent building approx 7m away, this was no problem to us as we weren't in the room much & as we sleep with the window open meant we didn't hear any noise, even though the railway line that runs from Zoo station is only about 200m away. The inclusive breakfast was good, although the no smoking area was a bit small which meant we never got into this area during our 3 breakfasts. The staff were very courteous & helpful. Would stay at this hotel again the next time I visit Berlin. This is a really lovely four star hotel in a fabulous location. It is next door to an underground stop and there is a wide selection of restaurants and bars available in the immediate area. Our room was actually facing onto the Kurfürstendamm, the main shopping street, but at night it was very quiet. The reception staff were helpful, efficient and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean and the breakfast, which was included in the price, was tasty and plentiful. On their own web site the hotel give directions how to get to the hotel on public transport which were very easy to follow. If you plan on visiting Berlin check out this hotel. Lindner's at Kurfuerstendamm looks like a chain hotel but acts differently. Already from the second visit they know your whims and act accordingly. You find two pillows instead of one. They know that you want a non-smoking room and the shower to be on level with the bathroom floor. The furnishings are simple to cool but in your room you find everything you need. For a modern building, the rooms show a great variety of sizes and layouts. For its location in the metropolis and its class, the prices are moderate. Cable LAN is available in every room free of charge. The restaurant is acceptable, breakfast costing extra, is a meal in itself. Sparkling clean and new, this hotel is in a great location close to Zoo rail station, the S-Bahn, and U-Bahn (presuming that this is the part of Berlin in which you want to be, as there are many other great areas of the city, too). Quiet and ultra-modern, this hotel seems to attract mainly business folk but should suit anyone who can handle this price-point. The breakfast, while not cheap, was extremely good and bountiful, although the room was a bit crowded during "rush hour". I have just returned from 3 night stay in this hotel, and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. in particular the staff in the breakfast room were welcoming, and we had no problems with finding a table. Perhaps the person who criticised the businessmen chose the wrong time to take breakfast We were there around 9 each morning. The only thing I was not keen on was the fact that the shower and toilet are a bit too open plan for my taste. I prefer to be behind a closed door! I would however use this hotel again if I visited Berlin We just came back from a mini trip to Berlin and though we have booked our 4 night stay at the Concorde, due to a problem with our booking there, we had to stay somewhere elsa for the first night. Anyway we wnet directly to this hotel and they had available rooms so they checked us in immediately with no problem at a first class double room. The room aws spotless, on the fourth floor, with a huge wall-to-wall window, the double room was really two singles pushed together and the bathroom was huge, behind the bedroom wall, so even if there are no doors separating it you can't be seen from the bed. It had seperate enclosed toilet, bathtub and two sinks separated by the huge glass shower! There were lots of toiletries in the bathroom, coffemaker, umbrella and of course two bathrobes and slippers. The only con was the room decoration which was spartan and that wou couldn't take a shower or using the bathroom without waking up the other. Now the breakfast, it was great with very delicious food, but not perfect, i would appreciate more variety at the egg-cooking (only scrambled or hard boiled) and some more pastries, but generally it was good and the breakfast room spotless! And ofcourse the location is perfect, right in the middle of the Kudamm with everything around! I have taken a lot of pictures and i'll try to post them later. I would definetely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Berlin for the first time, but for the next time i'll choose a hotel at the East to be closer to the sights! The rooms are small, the reception staff not always very friendly, but ok. Location, close to U-bahn and Zoo Bahnhof is great. Restaurant was very quit in the evening, but the food was good. For Berlin it was an okay hotel to stay, not to expensive.

I booked the Lindner for a 4 day stay with my boyfriend because the hotel's website made the rooms look very large and well-decorated. Not only that but the other Trip Advisor reviews seemed to confirm all this. I'm not sure why everyone liked this hotel so much. For $160 a night, I don't think it's a very great deal. The Mercure hotel at Berlin airport was even nicer and larger and included a bathtub for only $60 a night. It's also a 3 star hotel, which I believe would be a more appropriate rating for the Lindner for several reasons. The rooms are small, there is no bath tub (only a shower with a clear glass door), privacy (as others have mentioned) is an issue because there is no door seperating the bathroom from the main room (they are in the same room) and you can hear everything that goes on in there. The doors to the shower and toilet are made of a frosted glass which you can see through. There are no handles, but holes cut in the glass to act as handles and so this also impeeds your privacy and in the case of the shower allows water to get through. This does not make for a very romantic setting, needless to say. On top of that, my resevation was not ready on time. I arrived at the airport a bit ahead of schedule and visited the Lindner to see if there was anyway I could get a room earlier as I was exhausted from the flight. They explained that I would have to come back at 3. So in a complete daze with no where to rest I wandered the streets of Berlin for 4 hours. I returned to the Lindner a couple minutes before 3 and was informed there was no room for me. I watched as several couples (German-speaking I should note) were lead up to their rooms without hesitation. Finally, at 4:30 I was informed that a room was available. Later a bowl of fruit and some mineral water was sent up to help smooth over my discomfort with the situation. I should note that once the fruit was finished the maids did not remove the remains (banana peels, pits, etc.) which were left to rot in the room during our entire stay. I'd like to say that at least they tried, but I don't think the Lindner tries very hard to accomodate its guests very well. I think they just want your money and that it could be better spent elsewhere (a 3 star hotel for example would be just as nice). We also had numerous problems with our key cards not working and had to exchange them at the front desk several times. I would advise people who are looking for a nice fun place to stay in Berlin to stay elsewhere- possibly pay more for a really nice place like the Swissotel or if you're a young couple stay someplace outside the shopping district of Ku Damm. I would recommend staying near Potsdammer Platz, Alexander Platz, or elsewhere in Mitte because that is where all the historic sights and clubs are. The Kudamm is really just one big tourist mall that is several stops away on the U-Ban from anything intereting. Hope this helps! Just returned from a three night stay at the Lindner. The location, at the Kurfurstendamm, is excellent. The hotel's public areas and rooms are well appointed and modern and trendy. But.... this seems to be typically one of those hotels that forget what a hotel is for: a good night's sleep in a comfortable room. That is exactly what this hotel doesn't offer..... We made a reservation for a two bed non smoking de luxe room. Upon arrival we were told that it would either have to be a smoking room or a one - not very big - bed room. No upgrade or other alternative were offered. As we arrived late, we did not have the energy to go out again and look for another hotel, so we took the one bed room. The room itself was rather small for a de luxe room, but I guess that is the case in almost every big city. The real problems with the room were that 1) it was located opposite a very brightly lit building and the black out curtains were too short to darken the room, 2) the toilet comes out immediately on the room, opposite the bed and it has a glass door (everything going on in there clearly visible and audible for the other person in the room), 3) the bathroom also comes out immediately on the room opposite the bed and has no door at all (everything going on there clearly visible from the whole room also). Because of the peculiar lay-out of the room, it is impossible to have any privacy at all in the bathroom or the toilet. Friends of us were staying in the same hotel and their room had the same lay-out , so it was not just a bad-luck-room that we had. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, as there are many hotels in Berlin who, at the same rate or less, offer better comfort and service. We visited the hotel last year and had a pretty ok experience and would have recommended it no probs. This year it seems a v different place. No smiles from the check in desk on arrival and the room although "funky" in design didn't have a kettle or a trouser press. Breakfast was not a good experience with almost all the tables taken up by laptop/mobile phone users having loud business meetings and we had to squeeze on the end of a table to eat our food! For a bit more cash go to the Radission SAS in the historic centre and be treated like a valued guest!!
