Great Value for the Money | Read all reviews
This is definitely one of those hotels where you can't judge the book by its cover. As we approached it, my immediate thought was, "Oh no!" The Edmonton International Airport is one of the least attractive airport envirionments that I've seen - and the hotel's exterior was no better. However, when we got inside, the hotel was surprisingly quiet (given the amount of nearby traffic, the desk staff was incredibly helpful and the room was huge by usual standards. My wife especially liked the extra long bath tub. All in all, great value for the money.

The Rooms were nice, clean and large. We booked 2 rooms, one for ourselves and one for our adult children on our departure and on our return. Our room on departure was great except for a dirty coffee cup. Our Childrens room had a defective shower nozzle that didn't work and room reeked of smoke. We informed the desk in the morning and both rooms got a nice discount which we appreciated. On our return trip, we had only one cup for our coffee again. Our Childrens room reeked of smoke again, so they got another room which was more expensive for the lower cost. It had a slight lingering smell of smoking. My advice is to take a room on the second floor, as you can hear the desk phone ringing continually during the early part of the night (not good if you are trying to get some sleep for a 3:00 alarm)! Although there is no elevator to the second floor. All in all, I would stay here again, I feel these may have been isolated incidents. The Italian restaurant off the lobby has excellent food and service. This is definitely one of those hotels where you can't judge the book by its cover. The hotel has no elevator, so if you are coming from the airport with 2 bags be warned that you may have to carry your bags yourself. As there was no porter working at nights. Also the party that checked in before me rate was about 1/2 of what I paid. My husband stayed at this hotel for approx 2 1/2 weeks because he was working in the area. When he phoned to tell me about the condition of the hotel I thought he was exaggerating. I was able to spend the weekend there and I was floored by the dirtiness of the hotel. When I arrived I could see the dust in the corners on the carpet, thick dust on the tables, the bathroom floor was dirty, just you name it, it wasn't clean. The loby and restaurant was the same, the air filters hanging from the ceiling were covered with huge dust bunnies.... I cannot even begin to describe how dirty this place was. The staff were really of no help, when I complained about the room being so dirty they said the regular housekeeper works Monday to Friday so our room would be clean then. So Monday comes and the house keeper turns out to be a mom and her 2 kids NOT KIDDING and after she finishes home schooling them they help her clean rooms. Now i seen the kids they are like 10 and younger, I felt horrible that I complained about the condition of the room now knowing childern were cleaning it. I cannot believe the Quaility Inn would allow their name to be associated with this hotel. We booked one night prior to a holiday and 2 nights upon return as our plane arrived back at 3am so knew we had to sleep before driving four hours home. Upon arrival the room was not very clean, well worn, cold, but it was only for a sleep. When we got back from our holiday the shuttle took one and a half hours to come and pick us up, the airport shuttle service said they are often late and they get a lot of complaints about them and often for the middle of the night flights they don't even show up.Yet they advertise free shuttle! Our plane had arrived at 600 am due to mechanical problems so we were already tired. A group of us kept phoning the Quality INn as all the other hotels had their shuttles arrive but the Quality inns shuttle was no where to be seen. The woman at the front desk was rude and not concerned and said it was due to the snow storm, but that storm did not stop all the other shuttles. She was hostile and rude to all of us who called. . Finally after ordering a taxi we arrived about 8am to rude front desk staff who said they never have problems with the shuttle before. We were tired and hungry so went to the restaurant which is quite unkempt and dirty but the food was ok and the staff were great, and finally got to sleep at 930am. About one and a half hours later the front desk called and told us we had to hurry and check out. I said no there must be a misunderstanding as we have the room booked for 2 nights, she argued we didn't and had to go. So I asked to speak to the manager. She was no more helpful and said I have 20 rooms booked that want non smoking so you have to go now. I said we booked 2 nights in a non smoking room due to allergies, she said no we didn't and who did I talk too and what date. She was quite hostile. I said i couldn't recall the exact date nor the staffs name but had it at home on my computer. She was very rude, didn't care that the shuttle took so long to appear, didn't care that we had 1.5 hr sleep and had a 4 hr drive and basically we think was making us pay for complaining about the long wait for the shuttle and this was our fallout effect. I asked for my parking form as it too had the two nights written on it as I didn't want them getting confused since our arrival back was at 3am. I didn't want someone having my car towed due to any confusion so wrote the 2 nights on that form as well so it was documented clearly, with a note explaining as the staff told me to do this to avoid confusion, not knowing this same staff who booked made an error and only gave us 1 night yet we talked of any possible confusion with parking so don't know how the staff could have made an error. However, this parking form couldn't be found and the manager demanded to know who I had given the form too. Since I couldnt remember the staffs name again she basically discounted me and told us we would have to go so we paid a full night for one and half hours sleep. I know it is not their fault the plane was late but they sure could have handled this with a bit of compassion and tried to help us find a solution, but their customer service skills were zilch!! Especially when they saw as well that the parking form was also not filed correctly and was missing or maybe they didn't want it to be "found" as it clearly had written on it we were booked in 2 nights. The price is good, the staff unfriendly, the place worn out and unkempt so be aware of this prior to staying. Ask to see in writing what dates you are booked and keep it with you to protect yourself. Each time we have been there the front desk woman has been so unfriendly everyone stands there looking at each other and shrugging as they don't know how to handle her abrupt rudeness. We won't be back.
