My wife and I stayed here 4/16/09 thru 4/18/09. I was expecting a run-down mess. This hotel is in much better shape than it was 20 years ago. The pool (south tower pool) was in good condition, clean and refreshing. The reuben sandwich in the coffee shop was so good, I ate it twice. Good food in the coffee shop at most reasonable prices. I looked at the buffet and thought the coffee shop a better experience. The room had been remodeled and was more than adequate. Do yourself a favor...I think you will like this hotel. Jimmy and Jo Ann from Cathedral City, Ca. I started going to Laughlin in March 2008. It is definitely my destination of choice. Riverside comps are the best. The location is great. There is so much to do besides gambling at the Riverside: bowling, movies, shopping - all right there! We went to Laughlin, NV to see Sammy Kershaw in concert at the Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort Casino. We didn't book a room but decided to show up and just get a room which is not normal for us to do - but it worked out. I asked for a suite with a view - we got it! The room was very nice - it had two balconies overlooking the Colorado River. The valet was great, the lady that checked us in was so very nice - and actually everyone that we met at this hotel was very friendly. I brought my children with us and we did some sightseeing and went on the cruise on the Colorado River - that was part of the hotels amenities - it's actually very reasonable charge for the cruise. It was totally hot out but we didn't mind being on the cruise. The restaurants are all great at the hotel - well except I wouldn't do the buffet there it wasn't that great quality food. I eat out a lot and I'm not that super picky about buffet food - but OMG that was definitely a one time place I'd never go back there. The cafe had great food so we ate there all the other meals. We enjoyed our trip to Laughlin and I look forward to going back! My wife and I went their for a second time for vacation. We booked one of there inexpensive travel packages through the casino. By far one of the easiest convenient trips we ever have taken. shuttle from airport and check in was quick and easy. Rooms are clean and kept up but pretty basic which was okay we didn't spend much time in room anyway. We had a small problem with TV not working but when we called they had it taken care of quickly. I highly recommend the prime rib room it's cut to order and comes with salad and potato bar for $14.00. We will definately return. We have traveled all over the U.S., and always stay at casinos wherever possible, including Vegas, Tunica, and Biloxi. This is far and away the best value we've had. Called them to book, because the Mini-Vacation sounded too good to be true, but it was as advertised. 2 nights in a 23d floor room, immaculate, overlooking the river, trip for wife and myself on the riverboat and a buffet for my wife and myself only $99! The staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful, the variety of entertainment on-site is incredibly diverse and enjoyable when we're not gambling, and the variety of slot machines is great. Also, they have one of the few non-smoking slot areas where they actually enforce the no-smoking rule. Good food, good drinks, good times. Except for the trade show I visit annually in Vegas, this place is our new western destination resort. We have stayed at the Riverside three times, and found them great. As a whole, the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The buffet had a good selection, the prices reasonable, good food, and our waitress, Lynn, was a real joy. Only once did we stay at another hotel, and promptly returned to the Riverside. There's the car collection, first run movies, bowling, or just stroll along the river, so there is much to do, besides just feeding the machines. The Dinner Cruise may seem a bit expensive, ($40 this year,) but what hasn't increased in price? The staff is wonderful, the food excellent, and the night two hour river tour made for some good photos. Every year we look forward to a return trip to Laughlin. My wife doesn't gamble, but there's enough to keep her perfectly happy. Just returned from a three night stay and everything was perfect. Had meals in three of the property's restaurants and the food was very good, especially the Prime Rib Room. The hotel room was large and spotless with a spectacular view of the river, pool and hot tub are in great shape and the movie theater is an added bonus. Stayed Wednesday thru Saturday & only left Hotel once. Riverside had everything we needed. Room was clean with beautiful view of Colorado River from 21st floor. Many varieties of slot machines & table games. Great view of river while playing poker machines from nickles to 5 dollars & more at poker bar. Hated to leave & will return as soon as possible! We had the most wonderful time at Don Laughlin's, Riverside. We have been all over, and it's the best! There was eleven of us, and we made some great memories. The food was reasonable, the rooms were nice, it was the lowest airfare, and best of all the gambling was better there than any of the other places. We went to all the others and did best at Riverside, then stayed there! I spoke with locals that came there all the time, because they said it was the best gambling. I talked with a woman who's husband works at Riverside, she had nothing but good things to say about his employer. We don't drink regular coffee, just decaf. so I asked the maid in a note, if she could take the reg. and leave extra decaf. Every morning we woke up to all the decaf. we wanted. When we arrived we had lots of courteous help to show us where to go and what to do, as soon as we got on your shuttle. From there on it was nothing but wonderful memories! We had a great trip, didn't have to spend a lot to get there and I went home with $800.00. The reason I'm writing this is, when I was looking to see what the fares are now, to go back to Riverside, I saw an article on the internet, that said they didn't like Riverside, so I had to set the people straight. I don't know why anyone would say such a thing. Thank you Don Laughlin, for having such a wonderful place, with a family type atmosphere. With a wonderful theater and great places to eat, you can find things on the menu, anyone can afford! We went to eat at the buffet, I can't tell you enough good things about that. It's reasonable, food is terrific, such a variety. I'm not saying this will happen to you, but she seated us at the window, a beautiful view of flowers and water, people walking hand in hand on the side walk. A place were you could bring your kids. I wanted to thank you in person and looked for you when we were there, but never ran into you, maybe next time! Now this will have to do! Thanks again Don, for the good memories! Sincerely, Connie Taylor, Box 86 East Ellsworth, WI. 54010 My husband and I have been to Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort 4 times in the past 3 years. We always enjoy our stay there very much and it is a great get-a-way vacation! We have found the staff there are all very friendly and very helpful! We love the fact that we can receive 'comps' for food, etc. when we use our players cards. Even though we didn't do so well gambling this time around, we still got some great food to eat with our comps! We even got a whole set of beautiful dishes with our comps! At least a person can get something in return for all the money spent gambling there and that makes us feel appreciated anyhow! Don Laughlin's Resort treats their patrons very well and they make you feel as though you are greatly appreciated by offering comps and special promos and gifts! Vegas doesn't do that for the small time gamblers, only their 'high rollers'! We love Laughlin so much more than Vegas! Our room was clean and very quiet and had an awesome view of the Colorado River below. Movie theaters were great and all of the restaurants are excellent and the food is outstanding as well as the service provided! Thanks again for a great vacation and we hope to be invited back again next year! We highly recommend a trip to Don Laughlins Riverside Resort well worth it for anyone! They also have several areas for kids to enjoy while parents do their thing! We took our young son with us last year and he 'had a ball'! A great place to go for any persons young or old! Thanks Don and everyone else who works there! We'll be back!! Submitted by two 'small time gamblers' in North central WI. Had a great time at the Riverside. It is home away from home feeling. People are very nice and care about your stay. The rooms were very nice and the air condintioning was good, too. I have been to Laughlin several times and have to say the gaming was excellent here than else where. If your on a budget than Riverside is where you need to stay and play!! Bye Bye; Tex from Texas................ We stayed along time ago at the Riverside and only had a standard room, that was a disappointment, so this time I booked an Executive Suite to check it out....LOVED IT!!! The room was huge and the bathroom, totally awesome!!! We had 3 balconies with a different view on each one. From now on when we go to Laughlin, it's what we will book. The only issues I have with this hotel is there is no room service and not really a decent place to eat, unless you like standing in line. It does get crowded and the slot machines are super tight, but that's okay, since I rarely gamble. We mostly stayed in our room and out of all the times I've been to Laughlin, this was the most enjoyable, I think it's because of the room itself. Had a nice flat screen TV, a fridge, a sofa, chairs, coffee pot (only 1 cup at a time tho) and a lovely garden tub. It is no issue to find another place in laughlin to eat at, and I highly recommend Casa Serrano...the service is terrific and the food excellent for mexican food. If you want to gamble, the place to go is at The Regency (loose slots) and the high roller area at the Tropicana, however, for accomodations....the Executive Suite at the Riverside is the best! Definately going back in April!! I just got back from staying here for 2 nights. This hotel has very nice rooms, bowling alley, movie theatre with new movies, night time shows--we saw the Rat Pack and it was great; spa and salon; dance lessons; car collection; the Watch Man, many restaurants, more. I would recommend the Riverside Cafe and Casa Serrano for dining. Also, every employee we met was kind and helpful. I appreciate the positive attitudes. My wife and I have stayed at hotels and played casinos in La, Nv, and Az and we have never had such a great experience as our first stay with the Riverside Resort. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and eager to assist, and the gaming is great. Mr. Laughlin has created a great atmosphere and we will be returning as often as possible. These folks make you feel like family. we love laughlin, lots of fun.don laughlin resort is a good place to stay .big rooms nice and clean, nice people vary helpful.food very good. 2 pools one hotub we will go back for the fouth time. We stay at the Riverside several times a year and hve been doing this for several years. We always have a great time there and find it a very relaxing place to be. While sometimes (well, always) the charter flights out of Wisconsin could be more well organized, we're accoustomed to getting to the airport the required two hours before the flight time and basically standing in line for much of that time. But, once in Laughlin, the fun begins! We travel extensively and the rooms at the Riverside are not sumptious by any means but are perfectly adequate. I love staying on the side with the view of the beautiful, clear Colorado River. I also love daily walks on the Riverwalk from the Riverside all the way to Harrah's (along the river almost all the way.....you need to use the sidewalk in front of the hotels just at the end) and, in the opposite direction, across the bridge and into Arizona! I also always enjoy seeing every movie that's playing in all 6 theaters. It's another nice break from gambling. And the prime rib served in the Prime Rib Room is excellent! Always done to perfection! Oh, and we appreciate the Sunday morning Mass right in the Celebrity Theater in the Riverside Hotel. Joe's Crab Shack is just a short walk from the Riverside Hotel and, weather permitting, we take advantage of their outdoor eating area. Good food, great view! And, don't forget the gambling! Laughlin reminds us of the Vegas of years (and years) ago....much more relaxing and laid-back than the Vegas of today. We had a blast at the Riverside. We would not stay anywhere else now. The club was fun and the tables were awesome. Food could use an update as the property in general. But all in all it was great. I had been to Laughlin Nevada several times in the past when we rented a car and drove from Las Vegas. I had received several promotional flyers in the mail from Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort and I finally decided to take them up on a package deal flying out of the Rockford IL airport for $299 (roundtrip air & hotel). Overall, I was extremely happy with the vacation. The air was a charter on Sun Country Airlines and the plane looked fairly new inside & outside. When we landed in Bullhead City, there were respresentatives standing near the buses to give us our packets which included our room keys so we didn't have to wait in a registration line. There were charter buses that drove us over to the resort (it took all of 10 minutes). The resort also delivered are luggage to our rooms so we were able to go to our room drop off carry on bags and head straight to the casino. Our room was in the south tower (8th floor) overlooking the Colorado river. What a fantastic view! I loved waking up and drinking my coffee while looking out over the river and toward the mountains. Overall, the rooms could probably use an updating; however, they key issue is that they were very clean. We found that we were not in our rooms much anyway. Including in your packet from the hotel is the King of Clubs Players card. Make sure you use this card while gambling at the Riverside resort because after 50 pts. you earn a free Prime Rib dinner at the Prime Rib Room. This restaurant was very good. You go up and get your salad at a salad bar and when you are ready for hot food you go up to the salad bar and get your baked potato & vegtable. The waiter then rolls a cart to your table and hand cuts your prime rib based upon how you like your prime rib cooked - rare, medium rare, medium, well done etc... We also used our points to eat at the buffet which we found to be okay but we are not big buffet goers. Another thing that was included in your packet is a coupon for 2 for 1 cruise on the US Riverside which takes you up river to Davis Dam and then returns past all of the casinos before returning to the Riverside Resort. For $10 total for two people, the 1 hour twenty minute cruise was a nice change from the casinos. My only dislikes with the package deal was at the Rockford airport they didn't assign seats even though we were one of the 1st few people in line and we had to sit near the back of the plane. Also, when I booked this non-refundable trip, I didn't know what the flight times would be and the flight home didn't land in Rockford until 12:05 am. We were really tired driving home. Overall, I would recommend this great deal to anyone - it was well worth the money! I recently stayed at the Riverside Resort and had a great time. I'm not a big gambler, but still had fun. Everyone at the resort is very friendly and helpful. They provide plenty of free drinks while gambling. The pool area was also nice. Food was OK- but I didn't have much luck with food anywhere in Laughlin, other than Joe's Crab Shack. I would definitely go again. We also rented a car and went to Oatman for a half day trip. The drive was very scenic. We took the river boat tour from Riverside, it was OK, it mainly takes you up to Davis Dam and then turns around goes as far as Harrahs' and then back to Rivreside. They give you coupons to take it half price, so for $5 it was worth it. We attend a family reunion each year in Laughlin, and we choose the Riverside due to the many things there is to do there. There is a lot to do beside gamble, including a bowling alley, a movie theatre (which has $5 movies if you go to the last show of the night - what a bargain!), a car show, two arcades, and of course, the River Walk. Each year, the staff has been really helpful to any requests/needs we may have. An example of that this year would be when our party of 16 showed up at the Prime Rib Room @ 6:00p.m. w/out any reservations. They worked really hard to accommodate us, and kept smiles on their faces. Also, the housekeeping staff was prompt each time we needed extra items such as towels, pillows, or blankets. Each year, we get rooms on the 23rd floor in the (newer) south tower, and my family and I stay in room #2399 yearly. It is a executive suite, and provides extra room (great when you have two small children), and also has a great view of the river, the airport, and the Laughlin skyline at night. This place gets a lot of flack on here, and I think you just need to know what you're in for when you stay here: Yes, the place is older looking, but remember, this was the first hotel in Laughlin. Some remodeling has been done (there are 42 in. LCD t.v.'s in some of the suites, like room #2397), and some is underway in the north tower). Yes, the casino is smokey, but there is a non-smoking casino in the south tower (near the elevator bank to access the rooms), but you do have to walk through the smokey part to get there. Speaking of the casino, how many casinos do you know of that actually have windows? There is a portion of the Riverside's casino which has windows facing the river - something I think is great. No, there is no room service, but there is a wide-range of eating choices downstairs - ranging from coffee & donuts to their Gourmet Room. Yes, there is high-speed internet available, but it does cost close to $10 a day, or there is a weekly rate available. If you need to connect, just take your laptop to Starbuck's next door @ the Aquarius next door & get free wi-fi. And yes, there is some weird thing in the wall that controls the heat/a.c., t.v., and most of the lights. They tell you to put your room key in the slot - I just put something like a grocery store club card (or other card of little value) in the slot to leave the a.c. running while we are out of the room, leaving the room nice and cool for us to return to. Just remember to take it out when you're checking out. As long as you're heading to Laughlin to do something other than sit in your room all day, this place is fine, and offers many family-friendly things to do. If you are expecting 5-star, Ritz quality rooms, then well, Laughlin may not be your style. The staff at the Riverside were very friendly, and helpful.I had two reservations, and i thought i would have to switch rooms, but i didnt. That was very ice, because i was there from monday through monday, and i would have changed rooms on wednesday. The location was perfect, because i was in the casino seeing the oak ridge boys, who were simply wonderful. The boys should get there pay doubled next year, because they sold out every show there. The only thing that i would say needs improvement are your restaurants. The sidewalk cafe,i got chili and a hot dog.The hot dog was so cold, and the onions that you had were so slimy, and the chili was gross. The buffet was horrible too, some improvement is definitely needed. Went on an air/room package for around $300. The arrangement, flight, and airport pickup went very smoothly. Flight to Laughlin actually left early. Upon arrival the bags are taken to the resort and put in your rooms, you just get on the bus and are taken on a five minute ride to Riverside. Players cards and other info given on arrival on bus or at casino arrival. First impression when entering was how big the place was. When walking through the casino area after arrival, was awed by all the signs with the amenities as well as how big it was. Several restaurants, cafes, bowling alley, car museum, riverboat, south tower, north tower, west casino, etc. The first floor casino area reminded me of the Vegas casinos of 30 years ago. Low ceilings somewhat dark and smokey. (One of my complaints.) They do have a non smoking casino too, but the poker room and most of the table games are in the smoking section. The room was quite spacious, with heavy door to reduce hall noise, plenty of space in bathroom, with great water pressure for shower. Room with King bed, also had large dresser, table, two bedside tables, iron and ironing board. My room had a view overlooking the river. You could see the mountains in Arizona and watch the boats on the river. The room was clean and well lit. Better than expected after reading some other reviews. Not impressed with the buffet, but the Prime Rib Room was very good. If you go on a package deal, you get a comp prime rib dinner with 50 points on your players card. Personally, I think the best place to eat there is the Casa Serrano, the prices were reasonable and food was good. It is located in the west casino. By the way, when you get the 50 points, you have to go to the Players Club counter to get the voucher for the Prime Rib, then I'd suggest calling the restaurant for reservations or you may have a long wait to get in. If you go from Sun-Thur. there are 99 cent margaritas at the bar in the no smoking casino. The cafe in the same area is open 24 hours but would not recommend the breakfast there, too high for a Jimmy Dean packaged muffin/egg/sausage sandwich. The Riverside Restaurant has a breakfast special during the week. Around $4 for Eggs, meat, hashbrowns, toast. As for the gambling they have anything there you want. Lot's of slots, which to me seemed very tight. Poker rooms has holdem tourneys every morning at 10 AM for $12 buy in. Service around seemed fine considering the amount of people that was there when I was. The Riverwalk is right outside the Non Smoking casino entrance. This walk goes along the river down to some of the other casinos. It's a relatively close walk to the next four casinos. Since this is about Riverside, won't comment on them. There is no shuttle among the casinos, so if you want to go to Harrahs, or River Palms, would suggest a taxi, for around $8-$10. I walked it and it was about 2 miles to Harrahs. There are some fast food places close by the Riverside along the street, as well as in a couple of casinos close by. There is a Subway and Burger King in the Aquarius, which is the first casino from the Riverside. Also a Starbucks, which has wireless hotspot. Hope this helps a little. This was my first time there, so wanted to help others in the same boat. Don't think you could go wrong with Riverside, or some of the others. I'll be going back again. My husband and I visited Laughlin on January 9-12. Booked our trip through Don Laughlin's Riverside. We have been to Las Vegas, Reno/Lake Tahoe and Wendover....so we decided to give Laughlin a try. The short shuttle ride from the airport to the casino was great. The main purpose of this trip was to have fun, gamble and eat an In-N-Out burger (it was a birthday gift for my husband). We did some research on the area, so we didn't think we needed a rental car. So we walked to In-N-Out for our first taste of heaven in three years. It was a cool night, we were excited, so it didn't seem too far. We walked everywhere on this trip. There is no shuttle service between the casinos. We walked, and walked, and walked. Needless to say, if you want to visit other casinos in this area.....YOU BETTER GET A RENTAL CAR or catch a taxi. . There is a riverwalk, which is beautiful, and we did enjoy the stroll around. We did walk down to Harrah's on our last full day there, Harrah's is at the other end of "the strip". Isn't if amazing how close the casinos look until you start walking to them. The best $10 we spent while we were there was on the cab to get back down to Riverside. The cab driver was giggling because "we walked up that huge hill". Ok, back to the Riverside. Our room was on the 4th floor, so we had a balcony which was nice. I had read a review to stay in the SOUTH tower...so I followed their advice. The rooms are ok. Nothing fancy. The bed was like sleeping on a sheet of plywood and the pillows were about 2 inches thick. Even though we were exhausted from walking everywhere, we couldn't get any rest because the bed was so uncomfortable. Considering the price of the trip (with air & hotel)....it was an ok room. We did see something at this hotel that we had never seen before. When you enter your hotel room, you have to insert your room key into a slot on the wall, and this will activate the air conditioner/heat unit, lamp and television. We thought that was a little odd. We finally came to the conclusion that it was to save energy at the hotel. We ate In-N-Out three times while we were there (we don't have them anywhere around Texas) so it was a special treat. We did eat a dinner buffet at the Aquarius. The food was mediocre. It was the usual buffet food (minus the bananas foster). Would I eat another buffet there for the "Saturay Night Prime Rib & Crab Legs"? No. We had a "Champagne Breakfast" at the Riverside on Sunday morning. The food was ok. You couldn't beat the $10.99 price, but we were a little disappointed in the selection of breakfast food items. The champagne was HORRIBLE. Would I eat another breakfast buffet at the Riverside? No. Ok, now lets move on to the casino. All the employees were very nice. At times, there seemed to be a wait for a drink on Saturday night.....but the place was packed. So I can understand. The waitresses were still very pleasant and would let you know that it would be a few minutes before they could deliver your drink. We did win a few small jackpots while we were there, but nothing to write home about. It was enough to keep us playing and having a good time. Overall, we had a great time and will be visiting Laughlin again, with a rental car and our own pillows. pools were clean. food was decent. rooms were very clean. not smokey at all. staff was helpful and fun to talk to. Being "Handicapped" ,we, find that every employee was more than willing to assist in any manner possible. Our suggestion is for everyone do not let your own pride keep you from enjoying this "above average" casino. We were greeted by Valets that are very pleased to assist in any manner possible. They, the Valets, kept our baggage for us and proceeded to bring the luggage to our room and insured that everything was correct to our satisfaction. Thom Carmody I have been staying at the Riverside Hotel for many years. The rooms are as large as any other on the strip; however, the hotel isn't as decorated as nicely as others in Laughlin. I've always felt Don Laughlin has always been a step ahead of the other hotels in Laughlin with the first to have a bowling alley, first to have a movie theatre, first to have top star lounge shows, kids court, and top rate restaurants. The Gourmet Room is my favorite restaurant not only in Laughlin but my favorite restaurant period!! I will be visiting the Riverside again this mo. and am traveling from my new residence in Baja. I am going with a girlfriend and I am so looking forward to the Gourmet Room. I have also had to rent rooms before that accomodate sm. dogs; however, I do have a labrador retriever who is better behaved than my two smaller dogs but she was turned down flat. Luckily there is a nice boarding kennel right across the river from the Riverside that took our bigger dog. The bad thing regarding the Riverside dog rooms is the fact that there is no place to walk your dogs. All the grounds are marked "No Dogs." I walked my sm. dogs on the river walk toward the bridge one night only to be met by at least 10 skunks along the way. If dogs are to be allowed then there should be an area set aside for them to do their duty. I can't say the Riverside is for everyone but it does offer everything I like in a hotel. After staying at the hotel you receive great offers in the mail for one free nights lodging, free show tickets, etc. I have taken advantage of these great offers several times. My wife and I have been going to Laughlin for the past five years and have only stayed at the Riverside. We have been so well treated that I would not think of staying any where else. From the hostesses to the restaurant people to the casino people you are made to feel relaxed and welcome. The rooms are not out of this world but they are comfortable and accommodating. The Riverside has all the activities you could ask for 7 days a week. At this time I would not contemplate staying anywhere else. We look forward to many more trips to Laughlin and our stays at the Riverside Resort and Casino. We were moving from Las vegas to North Carolina when we found ourself stuck on the side of the highway with 2 kids,a moving truck ,my truck towing my husbands car and a dog. I could see the hotel from where we were so I called them. Mind you it was 1:30am on a Friday morning.I called and was suprised that they had a room available . I work in the hotel industry and I know the policy and proceedures and typical room rate. Remember I was just moving from Vegas after 10 years. When we got to the hotel I found it a bit dark and dated but it was better than all the glitz and glamour that I was accoustomed to seeing. I was so happy to get a room and the rate was not bad. We paid $79 plus tax and a $5refundable key deposit per night. We stayed for 2 nights. The room we had was a dog room and it was bigger than most hotel rooms I had ever delt with. The carpet smelt like it was just shampooed, the linens were clean and the overall condition of the room was light and airy. We had a sliding glass door and balcony over looking the river which was great. My husband was able to get my truck fixed on the Arizona side and the taxi drivers were especially courteous. We were able to go down to the casino and get our morning coffee at Cinna-Bon, and the buffett was enjoyable. To this day when we talk about a great moving adventure across the united states we always say that we liked staying at the Riverside Resort and we should have done it alot sooner. Stayed at the Riverside Resort from 2/28/08 - 3/3/08 as part of a junket from Green Bay. For $320 for flight/hotel/transfers.. I wasn't expecting a whole lot. We arrived at the hotel at 10am on 2/28 and were allowed to check into a room at noon but were warned that the room may not be cleaned yet. It wasn't, but that was OK by me. It was just nice to be able to get a room so we could get settled in. Our room was on the 25th floor, was big and had a beautiful westerly view of mountains. The restaurants has good food and the bars had good drinks (great bloody marys!). The only bad thing was their blackjack rules. They only allow you to double down on 10's and 11's (or anything above that if you are dumb enough to bet it!!). I was also disappointed with their players club. The first day I must have played 6 hours worth of blackjack (usually $5 bets). The next day I checked my comp's. I had 87 cents!!!! What a slap in the face!! Most of my gaming for the remainder of the days took place at the neighboring casinos. All-in-all I would definelty make this trip again. Stayed here in January 2008, and got a good walk in rate. Hotel is quite dated, but room was very spacious with all essential amenities. Spotlessly clean. Karaoke bar was a scream - some people take it VERY seriously, and don't take too kindly to some people (me maybe??!!) enjoying their warbly efforts!! Great entertainment though... Security at the bar would not accept my European Driver's licence as a form of ID, but I stood my ground - funny that 27 European governments find no problem!!! Buffet was plentiful, with lots of choice. Gambling - was most popular with the older generation, but I had no complaints. Would recommend no problem. We were looking for a quickie getaway during our Christmas break and found a great deal to Laughlin through Suncountry airlines (less than $500 for air from Minneapolis and hotel for 4 nights at the Riverside for the two of us.) Rooms: Nice and roomy with a good sized balcony and a river view. Large vanity area with a stool, which is a nice touch for us ladies who like to sit down while we do our hair/makeup. A tad outdated and "worn" around the edges, but not horribly so. The beds weren't the most comfortable in the world, but for $9.33/night, I can hardly complain! The furnishings/decor are basically what you'd expect to find at a 2-star type hotel, like a Days Inn. Maid service was excellent. We slept in late most mornings but our room was usually serviced after we came back from our late morning meal. They always replaced the towels, coffee, etc. Sure, you expect that, but I've stayed at plenty of hotels where I've had to call for that stuff. My only complaint is the one-serving coffee maker. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice if we could have both made our coffee at the same time. Food: Buffet was OK. Fairly priced with a decent variety (i.e, Mexican, Asian, American) of average-quality food. We ate here once for lunch. Prime Rib Room was excellent. Our meal was comped, but it's still a good value for the money even if you have to pay (about $30 for two people). Nice salad/potato/dessert bar and a HUGE slab of some of the most tender prime rib around. We also had a comped meal (breakfast) at the Riverview restaurant. Basically a Denny's type of place. Food isn't bad, but a little overpriced. Casa Serrano is a reasonably priced Mexican restaurant. Decent food, good salsa. Most of the fast food places were overpriced (i.e., the gas station style pizza hut/cinnabon "food court."). The worst ripoff was the sidewalk cafe. We paid almost $14 for 2 sodas and 2 microwaved jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches. The one bright spot for a quick bite was the Rice Garden. Reasonable prices and generous portions of pretty good Chinese food (keeping in mind that this IS fast food we're talking about.) Tip # I would highly recommend going to a grocery store (or even a gas station) to stock up on soda and/or water to keep in your room. Everywhere you go it's $2 for a coke, including the vending machines. The one exception was the bingo hall snack stand...$1.50 for a decent-sized soda in a cup you can keep. Tip #2 If you're a Bud drinker, you're out of luck. Apparently old Don had a falling out with the Anheuser-Busch folks some years back and has refused to stock their products ever since. Casino: As others have mentioned, this definitely isn't the glitziest place. The casino floor is kind dark, chopped up and confusing. The walls, light fixtures, etc. are very 1982. With that said, there is a lot to do here. You can catch a movie, bowl, play bingo, sing karaoke, look at the classic car museum (free!) or take in a live show all under one roof. We did visit a couple of the other casinos and they were much more modern looking and "open" feeling...but we kind of felt like we were back "home" when we returned to the Riverside. Tip: Check out the Watch Man store. All the watches are under $20 and they have a HUGE selection (they claim to be the biggest watch store in the world.) They also have drawings every hour for a free watch and it doesn't cost anything to enter. My husband actually won one! It was kind of a cheesy plastic watch (they spin a wheel to see what you get), but it was fun to win something. Oh, from time to time they also put out a real Rolex among the other watches. If you find it, you can buy it for $19.99! Staff: This, to me, was the most impressive thing about the Riverside. With the exception of one grumpy bartender, everyone was VERY nice and seemed to genuinely care about their guests. Mr. Laughlin should be very proud of his employees! Overall: We had a great time and were made to feel welcome at the Riverside. We look forward to coming back again soon. We booked a package that included flight from Bellingham, WA to the Riverside Resort in Laughlin. The flight leaving Bellingham airport lacked organization. The check-in ticket counter opened 1 hr 45 min before flight time and the line - 150 people long - was directly in front of the main entrance to the airport. Chaotic to say the least as we were blocking travellers who needed to go through security or check-in for other flights leaving before ours. Finally, we left and had a wonderful flight on-board Sun Country Airlines. The flight staff and service aboard this carrier were very good. We arrived at Bullhead airport where everything was highly organized and were transferred by air-conditioned bus to the Riverside. We had a decent sized, non-smoking (as requested) room with a gorgeous river view. (I would describe the room decor as moderate-budget.) I was surprised to find a hairdryer and iron/board in the room as I didn't see that mentioned on their website. We shopped at the nearby outlet mall where we found a great assortment of goods to buy. As others have mentioned, we did find the slots in Laughlin tight and no one from our tour won anything significant. We were disappointed in the quality of food at the Riverside hotel so we ventured out and ate at the Tropicana Express. The food there was very good and the chicken soup we ordered had lovely chunks of chicken and chopped fresh veggies in a delectable broth. We also ate dinner at the "Outback Steakhouse" in the Aquarius where service and food was top-notch. Indeed, it was the highlight of dining out in Laughlin and we certainly recommend it. Our package included discount coupons for the tribute to "Conway Twitty" show. The show was well done and as seniors, we appreciated the fact the price was reasonable. My husband won a watch at the "Watchman" and I bought a bangle watch there for the princely sum of just $10! (Another great deal is the 99 cent margueritas at the bar in the non-smoking casino which we found thanks to a review from another Tripadvisor member.) Our experience on the trip back was totally opposite the chaos of Bellingham. Transfers and check-in at Bullhead was highly organized and the line went very quickly and smoothly. We got a fabulous package rate through the Riverside and if you enjoy a short break to a gambling destination at a reasonable price, I'd recommend it. If you'd prefer to sight-see beyond Laughlin, you should definitely rent a car, although tour packages are offered to several places including Oatman, London Bridge, etc. but they do get a bit pricey for two or more. We just returned from Riverside and was very disappointed in the hotel atmosphere. Last time we were there we stayed at Colorada Bell and the people working there were a lot nicer. There were also shuttles to take you from casinos which is nice. We are in our late 60- 70s and the walking is not enjoyable with arthritis. Our room was nice except for elavator noise. Put stuff on floor to see if cleaning lady was cleaning and it was there until we left . At least toilets were clean. But I am sure we will be back to Laughlin because we like it more than Vegas. I was very surprised to see dogs were allowed in casino when I went to sit at machine I was greeted with a dog barking at me which was sitting on a chair. That was not to pleasing. Walking we saw alot of dog droppings that owners never cleaned up and that was not appealing. The hotel was okay, good for older travelers that want to stay away from Vegas. Went there on vacation with my family because the Colorado River runs through Laughlin. we had a good flight .tranpertation was just great to the hotel .food was real good and not to expenecive.if you think you are going to win some money ,you had better thing again.the games were all take and no return, not just in the casion we stayed in but all of them.other than loseing a LOT of money we had a good time.the room were nice and clean .the rooms on the river were real nice and lots to see.all in all we had a good time just looking around.

Ugh. Sad that this hotel is owned by the owner of the town. Our room was luckily smoke-free and pretty clean. No modern amenities at all. Even limited television. The food selection is poor. The casino is dark and extremely smoky. The pool was not heated, nor was the pool bar open. (they open May 6th, go figure why so late) I suggest the 3rd floor pool over the main floor. The whole hotel had plastic foliage and landscaping! Why in this part of the country! It was dirty and tacky and most of it all broken down. We walked to the hotel Aquious next to the Riverside, and what a difference. The Riverside is extremely dated and worn down, dark, cheap, and gross. Laughlin sure is the poor mans vegas. Nothing is there. Seems as Don Laughlin has aged so has the hotel. Stayed here on Feb21, saturday night. Booked the room on their online web site,, which incredibly was a waste of time. I booked a King Smoking room. What they gave me was a non smoking queen double bed room on the south tower 26 freaking floor. The lady at the reservations desk was going to give me the room i book until some woman supervisor came up behind her and told She to hose us. i will never stay here again. the room was ok for a non smoker who likes the queen beds, the opposite of what i was supposed to get,, and return the room plastic key cards or pay 2 bucs each I had previous stayed at the edgewater there, though the rooms were not great
dirty carpets,, paper thin walls,
car show was ok, but doesnt last long, at least that is free, amazingly my main gripe here is the way they did the switch er room on the room i booked. Overall rating = D---- remember first impressions mean the most, if your screwed when you first walk in, leave,, oh and no room service, no high speed or any internet and A one hitter coffee pot i the room with styrfoam cups that will melt , lol, if you leave them on the burner. Riverside is big but it needs to be much cleaner. The slot machines are glazed over with smoke and the rooms are not cleaned properly. I understand the go green theory but when the bedsheets are dirty upon checking into the room, I think that falls outside of the go green category. The air filters apparently need attention. Even in the no smoking section the air was pungent with ciagartte odor. This is very noticeable to me and I am a smoker. Other casinos we visited did not have this issue. The employees are very nice and pleasant to assist in the casino and restaraunts. Got the old bait and switch. When I called on the phone before making the reservation, I was told that the room I wanted with a king bed and river view , balcony or patio non smoking would be $39.00 and change. When the girl told me that I questioned how it could be that cheap for all that I was getting. She says "thats the price!". So I said great reserve the room. When we arrived first we were told it was going to be 2 queens instead of a king. Yes it was non smoking,So we go up to the room and it was a very standard room , but it had a sliding glass door that you could only open about 1 inch. it was made that way so you couldn't jump out I guess. No balcony or patio And let me tell you that slinding glass door was FILTHY. Well I was not about to stay in that pig stye. The thing that really [-] me off is they didn't offer any of this information at check in. I had to go up and see for myself. So I went back down to registration and told them I was not happy and what other rooms did they have. Long story short it cost me almost $200 for 2 nights in a room on the 24 floor with a balcony. You get what you pay for here as far as a room. The second room was very nice and the deli downstairs has exellent and I mean fresh exellent food. I've stayed here several times. If you stay here, STAY IN THE SOUTH TOWER. The North Tower is very dirty and under-managed. However, I've stayed in the South Tower before and its pretty good. At the North Tower, the bathroom door wouldn't close and the shower dial was broken. I found a bug on my pillow and there were stains in the roll-away bed. DO NOT STAY IN THE NORTH TOWER. The casino is big and they have a good arcade for the kids. They have good entertainment, movies, and a cool bowling alley. Overall, it's alright, but my last trip wasn't so good. My wife and I decided to have a quick getaway so we took advantage of a package deal advertised in the Portland,Oregon Oregonian newspaper. The next day we received an even better offer in the mail. We called the resort and they cheerfully credited the difference between what we already paid and their better offer. Great start.! We flew into Bullhead city and were efficiently transported in busses to the Riverside with our baggage being delivered to our room within a reasonable time. Staff were friendly as they always have been on previous visits. Yes the place is run down and shabby but what the heck, the price was right: $279 each for our flight from Portland and four nights at the hotel. All in all we enjoyed our getaway except for the incredibly bad smell that seemed to emanate from the airconditioner every time we entered the room. The enegy saving device was tied into the airconditioner as well as the lights so it took a bit of fiddlin to get the thermostat set higher so the AC didn't come on. Luckily the weather wasn't all that hot so we put up with the stuffy, stinky room. The entire floor including the hallways were supossedly non-smoking but it smelled like the smoke in the smoking rooms was being exhausted directly into the non-smoking rooms whenever the airconditioner was switched on. On our third night a new filter of some sort was put outside each room and after it was installed the smell improved a little. We still kinda like the place but probably wouldn't stay there again unless we were sure that or room would smell better than an ashtray! One more good thing. We really enjoyed the restaurant ,the Casa Serrano across the street by the parking structure. The place is bright and cheerful, the staff is friendly and the food is outstanding for the prices which range from about 4 dollars to 8 dollars. Well, here's to the saying, "You get what you pay for". Downside of hotel: The hotel room stunk of old smoke, there were burn holes in carpet and chairs. As a notice left in our room indicated, due to the extremely wet winter, they were having trouble with moths and other critters. Very true. Towels paper thin and rough. We set the air conditioner at 60 and left it on non-stop, and never got chilly. Not too much of a problem because it wasn't too hot, but this could be an issue in the heat of summer. Did not see one slot machine hit a big win in four days (we were warned of this on day # 1 so went elsewhere for slots). Upside of hotel: We had a room in the south tower on the 4th floor with a balcony and river view, which was really nice. (North tower appeared to have balconies/river views also.) Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant. Two pools, south tower one a little nicer but sun goes away around 2:00. A quick, straight walk thru the casino to north tower elevator and north tower pool. Restaurant was good. Lots of other options for food in the building. Free line dancing lessons Thursday nights, bowling alley. Although we didn't make it, apparently the Losers' Lounge Night Club is quite the happening place. This hotel is NOT for the "particular", as there is a lot you really have to overlook. But the rooms are cheap enough! And the room was fairly large. And to tell you the truth, I didn't see any other hotels that looked better. They all looked like they had seen better days. That's probably why all the rooms are so cheap and the place is called the Pool Man's Vegas. The only one I didn't check out was Harrah's (it's the furthest down the strip and would be quite a little hike to get to the center of the strip). I enjoyed being on the river and the riverwalk was very relaxing. You can find Panda, Starbucks, McD;s. Dryer's ice cream, Coco's mexican food....all within a ten minute walk. Wouldn't recommend Laughlin in general for a "luxury" vacation. Riverside Casino RV park Laughlin Neveda December 18, 2007 This was our second year to spend time at the Riverside RV park in Laughlin. We found the park friendly and a pleasant place to stay. On December 18, 2007 the park had lots of water at the curb from a fire hydrant, their backhoe was using it 's bucket to push the water down the curb and hit our truck ripping the mirror off and doing damage to our truck . Our neighbor wittnessed the accident and alerted us. We waved down security filled out reports, we all took pictures. Our neighbors filled out a report also. The Backhoe never even stopped. We contacted guest services and were told 7-10 day we would hear from their insurance company. Needless to say they don't return calls or awnser their phone. 1 month later after one call from their insurance office telling us we would hear from their adjuster back we go to guest services . Guest services puts us on the phone with the adjuster he tells us as we have traded our truck for a new vehicle we have no loss, but that he would call the dealer we sold our truck to and see if the offered us less for our trade in. At this time Feb 2008 we have not heard from the Riverside nor have they called the car dealer. We called again today Feb 11, 2008 no awnser left message again. We cancelled our reservation we had at the Riverside park for last week as we no longer feel safe having our rv there. Yes we have insurance but is it worth the risk.... I think not. We are still trying to deal with this we have time but are not satisfied with the way The Riverside Casino and RV has delt with us. Fairbanks, Alaska Judy and Everett Bartlett I was not impressed with the resort. I thought I was getting away from the bussle from the Vegas atmosphere, but little did I know. My husband turned a yr older this yr & I wanted to surprise him with a nice getaway!!! OMG, was I surprised!!!!!! The riverfront resort is not a five star. The lobby was too smokie{poor ventilation} and the buffet was not all that. We was not impressed at all. I live in the area and went the the Loser's Lounge inside the RIverside Casino to have a good time and relax, and this particular night there was a popular event taking place. I had been sitting in the bar for approximately 90 minutes, when the show was about to start. The place was packed with so many people, I had to stand up to see what was going on in front. A security guard (his badge said Edmond S.) asked me and my party to sit down, which we obliged but as we were doing so, we remarked on the large crowd and the fact we couldn't see what was going on. Our server had just commented on how she couldn't even get through the crowd with her tray of drinks, and that she felt it was a safety hazard. There was an obvious violation of fire safety codes, and I brought up this fact to security, which seemed to anger them and I was asked to leave this bar. I cannot believe the manner in which I was treated, especially given the fact I had been sitting in said bar for a long period of time, supporting this establishment. I asked to speak with management and the head of security, who disappointingly blew me off with the exact language I heard from aforementioned security, as if the whole thing had been rehearsed beforehand. I intend on notifiying the Clark County Fire Marshal of what was obviously a violation of safety codes, and what looks to be an attempt to cover up a violation. Even the serving staff of the Loser's Lounge was moved to mention their concern for the lack of safety ... and this happened even before I was so rudely escorted out upon my mention of a possible violation. Do not stay at Don Laughlin's resort. Besides the inept security, there are numerous other failings in customer service to be found in Laughlin's aging empire. The customer is NEVER right at the Riverside Casino. horrible exp!!!lousy service, and the dice tables that my wife and I play were empty with lazy dealers!!!the place was filthy and actually had an offensive odor!!!very very bad hotel!!stay away! My wife and I spend a weekend on April 18-20 at the Don Laughlin Riverside Casino. What a mistake! We picked this place because of travel book recommended it. Although our room was clean, it was HOT!! The air, I think, was working, but the fan was not very powerful, plus to save elect. there was a special device in the room that would turn off the electricity when you left the room, when we came back for the evening, our room was hot and stuffy. We had a nice view of the river, but the windows were dirty/spotyTook until the next morning to cool down - didn't sleep good! Then, the casino was old and dingy. Not much space beween machines - felt cramped and VERY smoky. They did have a not smoking section, but it was small and didn't have much of a choice of machines. Never saw a cocktail person -we brought in our own drinks. We played in the next casino over, for it was more open, better air, and a better variety of machines. We would not go here again On the weekend of 3-28-08 thru 3-30-08 my family and I were guests at the RV section of the Riverside Resort, our plan were depending on the experience we would extend until 4-1-08. We had visited the resort on various occasions but stayed at the hotel section, and loved it. We were expecting the same pleasant experience as before. Unfortunately our experience was completely opposite of what we had been accustomed to. When we arrived around 9:00pm I went into the hotel lobby to ask for directions to the RV section, I was completely ignored by the two ladies behind the counter for about 10 to 15 minutes, the two ladies were more interested on their manicured that they had done on their nails earlier that day. The following day we visited your lunch buffet, the food was delicious, but again the waitresses were very rude. We asked for drinks when we arrived and our drinks were delivered five minutes before we were getting ready to leave. We also visited your pool and the experience was good but unfortunately there was not enough lounge chairs. Due to the extreme bad attitudes of your staff, we decided to spend the rest of our time and gamble at the Edgewater and the other local casinos. We also didn’t extend and on our way back to California decided to spend the last 2 days of our vacation at the AVI. I am currently the Chief Engineer of a resort in the Anaheim California area and I completely understand that some employees might be having a bad day, or we are not in your target age demographic bracket, but I have never seen it where all of the staff has a bad attitude and feels like they are doing me a favor by answering a question. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to write me directly at: rudy@oneal.occoxmail.com Thank you, Not kept up at all. The bed was like a board. Old carpeting. A patched bedspread. But the worst was the cockroaches. Decided to skip the elevator, headed for the stairwell...big mistake! Cockroaches everywhere! When we saw one running across the Sidewalk cafe floor., we checked out and moved down the street! I wanted a last minute getaway before Christmas so had to take the dog. Booked a dog room in the annex. What a great concept that is. However, the annex is not convenient, and the rooms are disgusting. I was prepared to overlook all of that but when I went to throw out a tissue in the toilet and there was dried "stuff" all around the inside, I packed up and left. Believe me, I'm not a clean fanatic...we travel with a dog all the time and know what the standards are. This was just not acceptable.
