Good value for mone: we paid $ 150 for a two double bed room. Very good service. Nice, spacious and very clean rooms, with little kitchen and office. The concierge was quite helpful. internet costs $10 a day. Deffinetly will recommend. Extended family stayed for 4-7 nights in early June for my father's burial service at Arlington. Didn't want to use cars and wanted to be within walking distance to Georgetown and memorials. We were very happy with The Melrose. Ephram at the Front Desk was superb and treated us with the utmost respect and highest level of service. We had some mix-ups with rooms that were fixed right away. Some family arrived very late at night and were upgraded to a king exec suite which was like their own private one-bedroom apartment. Best hotel room they've ever stayed in. We were in room 608 - double deluxe. Two double beds (not queen), pull out sofa bed (which was decent for a 10 year old child), coffee table, desk with small fridge, armoire with flat screen, separate kitchenette with small fridge, microwave, sink and cabinets, bathroom sink area is separate from toilet and shower which was appreciated. Excellent location. Very safe walking. Bar was great. Breakfast buffet was a bit of a disappointment but we only ate there once. The two shops next to the hotel were very convenient. Marshall's Pub (out the door to the left) was great for lunch and a cold one. Comfortable lobby for gathering. Sofas and chairs. Friendly staff. Expected the worse based on previous posts but the wait for the car to be brought up was short. Much quicker than we expected. Will definitely return. Couple of comments - parking fee is steep. Could use more pillows on each bed. We are honored that you chose the Melrose as your home base during this very important occasion. Thanks for sharing the positive feedback on Efrem as well as the features of our Guest rooms and the neighborhood that your extended family appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you back soon! We were warmly greeted by the valet, then welcomed by the folks at the front desk. Although we hadn't previously stayed at the Melrose, we were treated in a manner that made us immediately feel comfortable. Our room was nice, with no issues regarding cleanliness, and the common areas are very attractive. There is an intimate bar and a restaurant where we ate breakfast. For a D.C. tourist, the location just doesn't get any better than this! We appreciate your comments particularly your feedback regarding the great service you experienced from our outstanding associates. We have recently replaced all the pillows in the Hotel. Perhaps you can experience the comfort of our Lounge Bar on your next trip! Stayed at the Melrose for two nights while visiting DC. Traveling with small children and teens. Location of the hotel made it very easy to get to dining, the Metro, and central DC on foot. This is a plus when you ask kids to walk all day! Staff was accessable and friendly. They answered all our questions with a smile. The manager of the hotel especially was personable and very accomodating and responsive to our needs. Would definately recommend the Melrose as the place to stay in DC. We are delighted that you took a few moments to share your Melrose experience. Washington is a wonderful "walking" city and while most attractions are a short walk from our Front Door, it is nice to have the option of Metro so convenient to the Melrose. We also appreciate the compliments on our terrific team and hope to welcome you back in the near future! Our stay at the Melrose was terrific. The location is great. The staff were all wonderful. Be aware that there is a charge for Internet connection and for parking. Thanks for taking the time to share your compliments. We are very proud of the Melrose team and we are pleased that you found our West End location, blocks from Georgetown and a short walk to Metro, convenient. We also appreciate your feedback on the charges for parking and the Internet and while these are fairly typical for Washington, we have shared your comments with our vendors that provide those services. Thank you. We were very pleased with our recent stay here..........my husband booked this hotel for my birthday weekend. He went to GW, so was familiar with the area; based on the location and good reviews on this site he booked directly with the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there, very nice place for the price (around $100). As we were checking in, I told them it was my birthday and we were upgraded to a suite-nice! Plenty of space, two flat screen tv's and hotel robes to use. It was warm, we shut off the heat, but was warm for the weekend-not a big deal. The bed was very comfortable, had room darkening curtains so it was nice and dark for sleeping. Even though the hotel is on a main street, it was quiet. Location is great, Georgetown is 3-4 blocks away, Dupont Circle is in the other direction, Foggy Bottom metro stop is 2-3 blocks-all walkable and we felt very safe. Good place to buy breakfast pastries & coffee at Marvelous market 2 doors down, Trader Joe's across the street. TIP: If you drive here DON'T pay the crazy valet parking........you can walk everywhere, don't really need your car. There are Colonial Parking garages close by for much less-it cost us $20 for the entire weekend! Thank you very much for the kind review of The Melrose. We are delighted that you had an enjoyable birthday weekend. We look forward to sharing many more with you! This hotel had a lovely understated elegance. Rooms were very large for a city hotel with lovely decor and elegant appointments more expensive chain hotels don't think of. Defintely a step up from chains. Beds were very comfortable as well as the bedding. The staff was the friendliest, most well informed and most responsive than I have dealt with in years. The location - forget about it - you can't beat it. Stayed with my son while looking at schools and we could walk or metro every where we wanted. Loved being able to be right next to Georgetown without having to deal with noise of being in it. All of us at The Melrose are extremely pleased that you enjoyed the hotel, the amenities and the location, and took the time to share your experience with the TripAdvidor community. We look forward to seeing you back very soon (and the next four years while your son is in school). This hotel is amazing! Me and my sister stayed here for three nights in August 2008 and had an amazing time! Our room (603 I think) was extremely spacious, with two double beds, desk, coffee maker, a lovely sink area and clean bathroom, TV with a range of channels etc... which considering the low price we paid, we thought it was all excellent! Check in was quick and easy with friendly staff. We had assistance from an employee named Larry with carrying our luggage to our rooms and he was extremely helpful and informative about the local area. The White House is a 15-20minute walk, which was no problem and there is a small market / store next to the hotel (which mainly sold alcohol!) but we were able to pick up bottled water, juice and other small snacks. Taxi's were readily available out the front! Overall, it is a great stay and a gem for Washinton DC! We are so happy that you had a wonderful visit to The Melrose and Washington, DC! We appreciate your kind words and look forward to seeing you back real soon. The Melrose Hotel was a wonderful surprise! We paid very little for the hotel and got much more than we expected! When we arrived we had someone take our bags up to our room where they showed us the facilities in the room. The beds were really comfortable and the staff very friendly. The location was great too! Only a 15 minute walk to the White House! There was even a shop next door to the hotel where you could get some bits like bottled water and light snacks (nice blueberry muffins there!!) I really liked the hotel and have no complaints to make! Thank you so much for the positive comments regarding your visit to The Melrose and Washington, DC. We truly appreciate that you took the time to share your comments. We look forward to seeing you in the near future. We stayed this past weekend here as the end of an 8 day trip and it was the best hotel of the vacation. We stayed a few days in NYC and the room at the Waldorf Astoria and the Sheraton were equal or less than the room here. The room was clean, the beds were extremely comfortable--the best of the trip, the staff was more than helpful, the price was great and the overall stay was excellent! With all this said, We all had a cold so the bed comfort gets extra points. The walk to the sites were OK (My interpretation), Too far (My wife) can we just take a cab back (My son, at a map and make a decision if you can handle it. All of us at The Melrose thank you for the very positive comments about your stay. We hope that your colds went away quickly and the rest of your travels were as excellent as you described your visit with us. The Melrose is an older hotel and for some travelers, they may find several small things they would complain about when staying here. However, we are very positive people and those small things don't really affect, or ruin, our trip. I booked this hotel through hotels.com and did book a king suite with a sofa bed. Fortunately, I brought along a copy of the confirmation because when we arrived, the hotel showed us only being in a room with 2 beds. We are a couple traveling with 2 teenagers. When I showed the confirmation of a king suite, they then changed us to a suite. When we went up to our room, 515, we found out there was no door on the bedroom. The front desk didn't seem to know why but I assume they may have been working on it to put on a new door. We were then moved to 415. This suite is a decent size but not real large for 4 so of course a room with 2 beds would have been too small for us. Not really a problem. The location is great and we love the Georgetown area. We only ate in the hotel one morning for breakfast, and it was pretty good. There are so many good places to eat close by that you pretty much have your choice of whatever type of food and place you like. Foggy Bottom Metro station is about 3 blocks away and you can connect on the subway to pretty much anyplace you would like to travel around the city. Buses are also running very frequently from right across the street from the hotel going the one direction and down at the corner to go the other. Unless you plan to travel out of the city, I wouldn't waste your money renting a car. It is expensive to park, if you can even find a parking spot. Public transportation is outstanding and you can also catch a Washington Flyer cab taking you direct to the hotel. If you call Washington Flyer sometime before you are ready to leave, you can arrange to have their cab come to the hotel to take you back to the airport whatever time you like. You are within a few blocks of CVS, Walgreens and Trader Joe's so you can always find those things you need. Walking anywhere around the area, we always felt safe even walking to the White House. It is an easy walk to the Georgetown shops and restaurants. As I mentioned earlier, this is an older hotel so be prepared for small things such as some peeling wallpaper, possible need for paint, some carpet stains and not as clean as maybe it could be but these are all what you might see in an older hotel. I wish I could remember the names of some of the staff because there are some that I would have especially liked to compliment. To start with, the housekeeping staff for our room always did a very good job. When we needed assistance at the front desk, they were also helpful. The people working the front door were excellant and I wish to thank everyone for helping make this a very enjoyable vacation. The Melrose was priced right for us and gave us what we were hoping for on our first visit to DC. Thank you very much for taking the time to review The Melrose Hotel. We truly appreciate your very thorough review of the hotel and its convenient location to restaurants, shops, and attractions. Your comments have been shared with the entire staff of the hotel, and we are more than pleased that you had an enjoyable first trip to Washington, DC. We look forward to seeing you on your second trip! The Melrsoe Hotel was wonderful! The Valet Staff was very helpful and very attentive. Cars are parked underground in a private and locked garage, which was great. Our room was a bit tiny for our family of 4, but that was our fault, we should have gotten a bigger room. The housekeeping was great, we called for towels and got them in less that 5 mins. It is in a great location, you can walk to all the great places in Georgetown. I would stay here again! Thank you very much for the kind words regarding your stay at The Melrose. We have shared your comments with our housekeeping and valet staff so they can see the positive impact they have on a guest's stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the very near future. Upon reading the bad reviews of this hotel, we were a little leery in staying there, however, since our friend from out of town was staying in some apartments next door we decided to give it a try. We had a nice suite, very spacious, like a one bedroom apartment. There is an outdoor area with tables outside the lounge area, and it was extremely nice also. The staff was pleasant, and met our needs. The hotel is very close to Georgetown, and there is a Trader Joes across the street if you need some snacks. There were two flat screen TVs, and overall, it was a very nice experience. We have stayed at the Willard, Marriott, Mayflower, etc in DC and for the money, this hotel can't be beat. If you want to be right in the middle of the action of Dupont, or Adams Morgan, it is a good distance, but cabs right outside the hotel, took us wherever we wanted to go. We have certainly stayed in much worse for the money, and we loved the spaciousness of the suite. Be sure and look on their special rates and packages on their website. As for the parking rate, they are in line with any major city for valet parking. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay. Wow, we couldn't have said it better ourselves! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and were kind enough to take the time to share the many wonderful qualities of the Melrose Hotel. Like you, many of our Guests enjoy our terrific location and routinely comment on our wonderful staff. Thanks again I stayed at the Melrose over the Memorial holiday. Based on some reviews I was a little nervous. I was looking for and got a great deal (especially for DC) on the hotel website...$88/nite for the king. Everyone I dealt with was nice and not over attentive. The room was great (and they should buy some new pillows) but I was very comfortable. I had a chair w/ ottoman and a loveseat and refrigerator. It's not luxurious but a steal at the price. There was no problem with early check-in and they held my bags after check out. I did not eat at restaurant or drink at the bar. The bar looked comfortable though. Great access to public transportation. Easy walk to Georgtown shopping and restaurants. Ask for nearby food stores for snacking. We couldn't have said it better! "For a D.C. Tourist, the location just doesn't get any better than this!" Above all we are pleased that you enjoyed our Hotel and took the time to share your positive feedback on our Service and Housekeeping. We have stayed here several times and will return again. The staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. The location couldn't be better...a short walk into Georgetown, proximity to Circulator bus and Metro, and a friendly pub and Trader Joe's just around the corner. The rooms are very generously sized and quiet, but on the negative side, they could use refurbishing as they are a bit tired. So too for the linens. On the whole, our stays have been very positive and we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed your recent stay and are so pleased that you have continued to select the Melrose as your "Home Away from Home". We hope to have news regarding the details of future renovations soon! My son and I stayed here for the Frozen Four college hockey championship. Melrose is an older hotel and we had a good size room with 2 double beds. It was clean and well kept. The front desk staff were all excellent; very helpful, personal(they called me by name all 4 days), promptly made an airport shuttle reservation for us, etc. Hotels in downtown Washington, D.C. can be very expensive and we found the Melrose to be quite reasonable. Our rate for 3 nights averaged $179. As in any urban location, travelers need to be cautious in selecting a hotel and Washington is certainly no exception. The Melrose is adjacent to George Wahington University and one block from the Metro. We were out very late two nights and had no hesitation about walking around this area with students. We only ate one buffet breakfast in the restaurant and found it to be very basic for the price; $18. plus $4.00 extra for orange juice. We would definitely stay here again. One other thought-avoid taking a car to Washington-parking is almost non existent near attractions, traffic is always very heavy and streets get closed with no notice, We flew in and out of BWI Airport and walked/took the Metro everywhere. Thank you for your terrific feedback. We are very proud of our Front Desk Team and as you experienced, they stand ready to handle guest requests. We often receive positive comments regarding our West End location which as you stated, is quite convenient to Metro. We agree the Melrose provides a great value in our Nation's Capital and above all, we hope, you were pleased with the results of the Frozen Four! The Melrose Hotel was attractively decorated, with all the lovely photos of Washington that they advertise on their Web site. I would prefer a little less photography and more realistic prices in their restaurants. Their rooms are no more plush nor is their lobby more regal than an Embassy Suites, and a full breakfast comes with the price of the room there. Perhaps $18 breakfasts are O.K. with some folks, but we prefer to spend more money on an evening meal. We actually ate a decent breakfast at the George Washington University hospital cafeteria on our way to the Metro. I would suggest lowering the price of the breakfast buffet to hotel guests and charging extra to outside guests. The supper menu is quite limited, the service was poor, but the portions were generous and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The location was fine, and the proximity to the Kennedy Shuttle at the Foggy Bottom metro was as close as other reviewers had related. Prospective guests should also be aware that the valet parking fee is $38 once tax is added. We could almost have taken the Amtrak for this amount. Thank you for taking the time the share your comments. We appreciate your positive comments on the Hotel decor. While we do offer a premium Breakfast Buffet, we regret that the Buffet and the Dinner menu selections did not meet your needs. As you indicated, the Metro as well as other public transportation is very accessible, and we have found that the overnight parking rates charged by our garage operator are competitive. Thanks again for your feedback. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Melrose for about a week. The hotel was fairly priced (booked through travelzoo at $89 a night) and the staff was extremely helpful. Walking distance from the metro and Georgetown. I would definately stay here again. Thank you very much for the wonderful words regarding our location and our staff. We are happy that you were able to take advantage of one of our special rates. My wife and I wanted to spend a night in DC to celebrate our anniversary. We looked at several hotels before going to Priceline and asking for a 4-star hotel near Georgetown. We ended up at the Melrose and paid under $100 with taxes. This review is based on that rate. The front desk was very nice. I called that morning and the gentleman was very helpful and able to give us early check-in. The hotel itself was clean and pleasant. The room was a decent size. Our mini-bar was not working but that was not a problem as we don't use it anyway. The workout room is small but has four nice aerobic machines. We cannot recommend the Library bar. It looks inviting from the outside, but the atmosphere makes you feel like you are really at a library; the lighting was a little harsh and the chairs uncomfortable. They have a $5 wine special from 5-7, but there are only three choices and neither of the reds was special. The location was very good. We ate at a restaurant in upper Georgetown and the taxi ride there was almost $10 with tip. We decided to walk back, both to save a little money and digest our food, and it was a pleasant mile walk. The main part of Georgetown would be much closer. Parking there was valet only and over $30, which is about standard for the city. I called and found a nearby lot for $12. However, DC does not charge for parking on weekends or limit how long you can park, so we found a free spot just a couple of hundred yards from the hotel and saved money. I agree with other reviewers who have said it is probably more of a 3 1/2 star hotel, but overall it was what we were looking for and we were happy with our stay. Thank you for taking the time to give your impressions of The Melrose. We appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future. This hotel is located on Pennsylvania Ave (sp?) and about 2 miles from the Whitehouse & Capitol Hill. Its rooms are amongst the largest in DC and indeed the most clean having stayed in DC on 3 seperate occasions. On the whole this is an excellent hotel with attentive staff who were generally polite and friendly. It is within close proximity to the upmarket Georgetown. The only problems being when our bathroom carpet became wet for no reason at all and the room service when contacted regarding this were not able to provide a plausible reason other than the maid had spilt her bucket of cleaner?! Further to this during our stay a fire alarm went off during the evening and required us to leave the hotel- however there seemed to be minimal checks made with regard to this and we decided to leave the building as a matter of precaution! Still this is on the whole an excellent hotel, firealarms and water spillages aside, I would certainly stay here again. Irrespective of problems the rooms are clean, large and very close to the action of Washington DC. Thank you for staying at The Melrose. We are pleased that you enjoyed our location and were able to see the sites. For special promotions and rates check our website. We look forward to seeing you soon. Reviewer: Patrick & Shirley, Bucks. UK Reception and front of house most helpful. Our only complaint was dealt with straight away. But - it would have been nice to have been shown to our room, which when we located it was in complete darkness. This necessitated finding individual lights and turning each one on. Also the bathroom needed some attention. The bath was chipped and the lavatory seat needed replacing. However the Melrose is in an excellent location for Georgetown and is reasonably priced for Washington. Thank you so much for the positive comments regarding your visit to The Melrose and Washington, DC. We truly appreciate that you took the time to share your comments. We look forward to seeing you in the near future. I had a pleasant stay at The Melrose Hotel for a long weekend in early December. I traveled with a friend, and chose the hotel based on a fabulous deal courtesy of Travel Zoo, as well as the location (its on Pennsylvania Avenue and within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle, as well as Foggy Bottom subway station). Our reservation was for a double/double room, which included taxes, but excluded breakfast. The room itself was quite spacious, relatively clean and well furnished. In this room type expect two queen sized beds, a flat screen TV, hanging space (we had 2 wardrobes), a sink, iron with iron board, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, a refrigerator, radio alarm clock, ice bucket and a desk with a chair. Breakfast is available for a fee in the restaurant. We decided to pass on this, as there are numerous breakfast/coffee options on Pennsylvania Avenue and in Georgetown. Our favourites were La Madeleine (Georgetown) and Marvelous Market (right near the hotel). Le Pain Quotidien is also in Georgetown, plus you have Kramer Books & Afterwards Café & Cosi in Dupont Circle. The hotel staff are very curteous and helpful. Our hairdryer blew up and it was replaced immediately. If there is availability, the hotel can extend your check out time to 13:00. If this doesn’t work then you can pay half the cost of your room rate to keep your room until after the extended check out time. I disagreed with a lot of the previous reviews. Our room was clean; although the hotel is looking a little worn e.g. the sheets could do with an upgrade, and the grouting in the bathroom was turning yellow. The lifts are a little small, but they were never full when we waited for them. Hot tips for DC sightseeing: Newseum, the Capitol Visitors Centre and The Phillips Collection. The Old Post Office affords great views of the city, and doesn’t have as many queues as the Washington Monument. I didn’t experience all the hotel has to offer (e.g. room service, laundry service, restaurant and bar), as I was too busy enjoying DC, which was the point of my trip. Nevertheless, the hotel was exactly what I was looking for and would be happy to stay there on my next trip to DC. All of us at The Melrose are glad that you enjoyed your visit with us. Thank you for your kind words, and we look forward to seeing you real soon. Please make sure that we have your email address on file so that we can keep you up to date on future special promotions.

This was my third weekend stay at the Melrose. Past stays earned the highest praise. If you are on holiday and want to stay in a nice hotel at a very competitive rate, the Melrose is still a very good choice. The rooms are large, clean, well appointed, and feature a very comfortable bed. Our room had a mini-refrigerator which is always appreciated. The staff is friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the location is fantastic. On Pennsylvania Ave. just off M Street, it is a 15-minute walk to the heart of Georgetown. In the other direction, you are a 6-minute walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station and a short ride over to the Smithsonian stop on the Mall. Park your car and enjoy all of DC. Some major annoyances. Start with parking your car. There's a $34 per day charge. Ok, it's DC so you have to grin an bear it. But then there's a $10.00 per day internet charge and when you go down to the business center you discover there's a .49/minute connection charge. By the time you log on and navigate to the right webpage, printing out a boarding pass can cost you 4-5 dollars! Seems to me for the few extra dollars the hotel takes in, guests are put in a foul and disgruntled mood. We liked the flat screen TV in the room; too bad the reception was so poor. Towels were plentiful but scratchy. Breakfast is outrageously expensive. Fortunately there is a great little coffee shop just to the right as you exit the hotel. The Melrose is still a good place to stay if you are looking for weekend getaway in our nation's capital. It could be a great place if management made some revisions to its pricing and other practices. Thank you for being a repeat guest and sharing your comments with fellow TripAdvisor readers. We appreciate all feedback so that we may continuously evaluate our product and services. We look forward to seeing you again I have just returned home from a stay at the Melrose Hotel. Overall, my experience was very mixed. But here goes anyway ..... Good points, The hotel is in an excellent location, close to the Foggy Bottom metro station, close to Georgetown for restaurants etc, Staff are friendly, Room decor was good, the "Hop on Hop off" tour bus has a stop at the 4 Seasons Hotel, which is about a 2 minute walk from the Melrose( Turn left out the front door). Bad Points If you have read any of my previous reviews, you will see that I detest hotels that do not allow guests control the room temperature. The Melrose either has full heat on or off in the rooms. To get ventilation you have to open the wondow (which only opens about 6 inches). Our room on arrival was hot and stuffy. Opening the window offered some degree of comfort, but then we were awoken every night by emergency service sirens going by the street ouside As breakfast was not included in the price,The first morning, we decided to have the buffet breakfast in the hotel. Price advertised was $18 per person. On sitting down we were asked if we would like orange juice, to which we replied yes. Our Bill on leaving amounted to $32 each!!!!!!!, we were charged $4 for each orange juice. along with a service charge of 3.?% and another charge of which I cannot remember. This was a buffet yet we got hit with a service charge!!!! Internet use for our laptops was charged at $9.99 per day, you log in using your name and room number. We were 2 people, each with a laptop and on checking out were each charged $9.99 per day for wireless access !!! Before we checked out, we required to check in online for our flight and needed to use the business centre to do so, as we did not have printers with us. The charge to use the business centre computer was .49C per MINUTE and for each page that you print it is .99C TV reception was flaky, but we did not watch much TV anyway With regard to having our room serviced, Fresh soap was not left each day, nor were the shampoo etc left each day. We had on one occasion, to ask at reception to have the new coffee pack left as it was not replaced either Overall, it was just an OK experience. The hotel is located well, the room decor was good. Staff are friendly, but, we left the hotel with a feeling that we both had been "gouged" with all the extra charges, so much so, that I will never stay at this premises again. When a breakfast is advertsied at $18 and ends up at $32, and a MINUTE on a PC costs . 49C and a sheet of printed paper .99C, in my opinion an absolute rip off of customers. I wont say anything about the $7.50 charge for a bottle of beer in the bar Thank you for taking the time to write of your stay at The Melrose. We appreciate your feedback which gives us the perspective of our guests and we can make adjustments if deemed necessary. If you pay more than $179/night for this hotel you will surely be disappointed. The Melrose is certainly not a 4 star hotel. 2.5-3 stars is more like it. The lobby carpet is frayed, the elevators are dinged up and then there's the rooms themselves. My room was dark, hot, dry and stuffy but i cracked the window to freshen it up. The room obviously needed a facelift, to put it mildly. The baseboards were scuffed up, the carpeting was old and worn out (and a little dirty), the bathtub's acrylic coating was peeling badly and there was mold on the caulk around the tub. Then there's the $10/day internet charge. Classy. Why don't hotels just charge $10/day more for their rooms and make wifi free? The positives: The Melrose staff was very pleasant and they try hard to please. And the bed was firm and comfortable enough. All in all, if you're not too picky and don't spend too much you'll be fine. But don't expect four star accomodations. Thank you for taking the time to write of your stay at The Melrose. We appreciate your feedback which gives us the perspective of our guests and we can make adjustments as needed. Paid $75/night for the room on Priceline (Foggy Bottom) Asked for suite by calling the hotel directly before I arrived, was told that there would be no problem for $50 upgrade, and that it was wide open, but upgrade was not available on-site; a suite was not held for me as hoped. Had interior room view of neighboring building, no direct sunlight Building heat was on, unable to control room temperature. Was told to turn air off and crack window to cool room down. Some of the staff friendly and helpful, but not all - was never asked about my stay upon checkout - disappointing service from that front desk clerk (A) Elevator interior badly worn Carpet badly worn in room/hallway; doors banged up and hallways in poor condition. Lightbulb was out in room, although maintenance promptly came to room to change the lightbulb Old bed, hard uncomfortable pillows - not feather pillows; no down comfortor Sink on the outside of the bathroom similar to a Super 8 or Motel 6 Broken furniture in room Valet/doormen never acknowledged us when entering/leaving hotel Crazy expensive price for valet parking in DC ($34/day) hotel is really a 2 1/2 star hotel - if hey improve their staff's customer service skills and made significant renovations the hotel could live up to its former grandeur; would be best if acquired by chain hotel and with significant renovations.
