This place is marvelous... we loved our room and had fun strolling the nature trails and putting on the green. The owners were especially friendly yet did not hover like some B&B owners do! We loved our breakfast in the conservatory.. we will be back! I stayed at the Elk Forge B&B while on a business trip this past summer, and I must say, I was impressed. I prefer to stay at B&B's rather than hotels due to there more personal and unique nature, and, since my wife was able to come with me on this trip, I was especially looking forward to a unique experience. We were not disappointed. The house and grounds were incredible--it was like stepping back into Victorian times--and we both found the staff friendly and knowledgeable of the rich history of the property and surrounding area. While we were disappointed to find that there was no restaurant on site, it turned out for the better, because we were able to drive through the lovely countryside while finding equally unique dining experiences at some of the quaint local restaurants--just ask the staff and they'll recommend some great places to eat and visit. I'm just glad that it looks like business may take me this way a few more times in the coming years--I already have my next trip booked-- although my wife is jealous that she can't make it this next time around! I love the Elk Forge Inn. It is my favorite B & B! The staff is superb, I loved the casual breakfast. The library had all my favorite books. I LOVED my room. It was so relaxing, and peaceful. My room was impeccable. Harry and LeeAnn went out of their way to be accomodating and welcoming. I would definitely stay there again. My husband and I love that place so much that we keep going back everytime we can. We had our wedding reception there, almost 3 years ago, the suite where we stayed that night was just beautiful. We also love the location, the Inn is surrounded by nature tracks; perfect if you want to have a relaxing or romantic vacation. The staff is very friendly, the facility clean and well decorated. Most of the rooms we have seen have a whirpool, wich is a plus. The spa's massage therapist has "angel hands" ,she worked wonders taking away my husband's back ache. Breakfast is good, great variety of cold drinks, bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and cheese, as well as some warm options like waffles, toasts and hot drinks. We do recomend this B&B to everyone who may have the oportunity to visit. Enjoy. As we arrived, we walked up to the door and I reached to open it, but a member of the staff beat me to it. She welcomed us, gave us a tour of the place, and offered to help us with our baggage. The decor was beautiful, with antiques scattered througout the 18th century house. Our room was very nice; we had a whirlpool in our room; our room was clean, well decorated, and it seemed like a bargain given the price. We went downstairs for breakfast to find fresh food, helpful hosts (when I had trouble operating the coffee machine, they were over to help me within a minute) and a nice view of their property. I did not have any problems; as the staff was friendly, helpful, and available 24 hours a day. I would definitely return here and I would recommend it to anyone who is in the area! I went to the Day Spa and had the Fantasy Facial. It's 90 mins for $120 and they do a facial on your face, hands and feet. They also massage your shoulders. It was quite relaxing and I would definately recommend it. I'm planning on getting a gift certificate for a friend. We visited the Elk Forge Bed & Breakfast for three nights. The atmosphere of this B&B was amazing. It was very soothing and relaxing. The scenery was beautiful and the grounds were emaculate. The hosts were very knowledgable and helpful with informing us of various local sights and activities that would best suit both my wifes and I's interests. We left Elk Forge feeling more energized and refreshed than we had felt for years. This is a wonderful and great spot to visit time and again. The Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast was really great! I truly felt a feeling of being at home when I was there. The staff was great, the rooms were very comfortable, clean and cozzy. We were in the Country Club suite, and it was very nice. It was the first time I actually felt like just staying at the Bed and Breakfast after driving all that way, I liked it so much I just didn't want to leave. Visit Date: 1st weekend of November. I must say that my wife and I had one of the most relaxing weekends of the entire year. The B&B offers tons of space, great service and food, and the softest bed I've ever had the priveledge of sleeping on. This stay was well worth the price, and I'll definitely return. What a luxurious place, with a friendly staff! We stayed at this bed and breakfast on our honeymoon and it is really more luxurious than many resorts that I have stayed in! Excellent price, and the staff went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and that our needs were met. They were friendly and helped direct us to some of the nearby attractions. They also have a day spa on the premisis! We will definitely be returning in the near future and will try to stay here as often as we can! After a day of sightseeing in Kennett Square, PA, we spent the night at the Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast. I searched in line for local accommodations. This Inn was offering a special weekend rate that was too hard to resist -- a 50%-off 2-day special. This place has a good location to offer the traveler an alternative to accommodations in downtown Philadelphia. The inn has reasonably provisioned rooms with rustic furniture. Our room was clean, quiet and cozy and came with a small private bath. There was a small whirlpool tub in the room, but I didn't see the value of the private tub in such as small space. The building is well lit by natural light. Most of the spaces have hand-painted murals and the common areas have a Victorian ambience. The Inn offers spa services, but I don’t know if the spa has standard operating hours. It seemed as if it opened only on request by a guest. My expectation for a B&B stay is an offering of a prepared breakfast. This Inn offers a modest continental breakfast. However, the coffee that they serve is excellent. The best part of our trip was meeting the Innkeeper, Seth. When I called to make reservations, I spoke to this easygoing young man who was happy to book a room for us. Opon our arrival, Seth was hard at work mopping floors and making preparations for the week. He was not too busy to take time to get us an extra blanket for our bed and to adjust the thermostat for our unit. It is very apparent that Seth takes a great deal of pride in his family’s business and wants to see it suceed. We probably won’t have an occasion to come back, but I hope that Seth is able to grow his business. This place has most of what it needs to be a faboulous place that I would want to come back to again and again. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants a quiet night’s sleep in the country. From UK - stayed for 3 nights whilst house hunting. I was upgraded to suite with Sleigh bed (I was chuffed - wife not so in UK!!) Very comfortable, and very useful to have internet access. Only continental style breakfast though - standard food wise not quite as good as a superb B&B I stayed in at Chesapeake City. Also bed not made one morning ? they forgot (hence the 4 not 5 rating). Otherwise I would go again and recommend.

Upon arrival there is no one to greet you. They call this self check in, but I call it cutting cornors. Part of the experience of staying at a bed and breakfast is interacting with the inn keeper. No one was anywhere in sight! We had made dinner reservations ahead of time so we didn't need advice on a nice place to go, and we were only staying for one night. But, if I had been staying longer I would have wanted to speak to the inn keeper about dining and touring suggestions. They advertise fireplaces in every room. They are are a poor excuse for a fireplace. I believe that when you turned it on you were only seeing a picture of flames. The room was fine, but small. The bathroom was extremly small. You could see that it had been added oto the cornor of the room. The breakfast offerings were quite sad. Yogurt, cereal and toast. You could also make your own waffel, but the tray of offered toppings was far from appealing. At breakfast we did finally see the inn keeper. Nice enough man, but thinks he's funny, sad to say he's not. Had a very cold experience from this inn. Wouldn't return. The first impression of the Inn driving up is aesthetically pleasing. The entrance into the Inn is not. The gift shop 'nook' is really two corners in a cluttered office that looked unkept. The rooms were clean and roomier than the photo's. I'm not sure the rooms were actually cleaned by housekeeping although we did get new towels. We were most disappointed that the breakfast set up started at 8am when most guests thought it was at 7am. Coffee was ready @ about 8:15. The service was not 'Bed and Breakfast' friendly at all. The people who set up the food (fresh fruits and selection was very good) acted as if you were in their way as opposed to being guests. Not recommended for value/service. An outline of my stay this past weekend. Arrived to no one at the house for greeting, called manager who checked me in by explaining some of her woes and pointing me to my room upstairs, she wasn't sure of where it was located, only mgr for 2 months & had no idea where rooms were?. Room, could have been very nice. However - I was able to write my name in dust on the end table, came across a dead moth on the floor, and found tiny fruit flies to be a problem near bedside lamp. That eve, wanted a tubsoak so bad, but water was brownish yellow, made my stomach turn. Mgr offered another bath in another room, which she had problems locating as well (clueless?)----found tub to be dirty & started to clean it myself, gave up on bath altogether. Next morning, went downstairs for a serve yourself breakfast, with cold coffee. If I wanted eggs & bacon it would be made for me. Had a wonderful message that afternoon, returned hungry at 3:30 and searched for the tea and desserts but none to be found. Next a.m. went to shower, praying for clean water, and it was clean, but subzero temps. Later found prob w/water heater. Mgr did offer everyone a late check out to shower(?). Breakfast was running late and overall everyone seemed a bit frazzled. Not a good place. A few nice gestures here and there, & many apologies to all guests for their various issues upon leaving. I can not stress how disappointed I was in this, especially after reading all the wonderful reviews. I only hope the owners read these reviews.
