A great hotel | Read all reviews
A group of 5 of us I stayed at the Intercity hotel for 1 night. The hotel is located next to the Main train station and in front of the bus/tram station. Tram no 6 departs from Bremen airport every 10 minutes and stops opposite the hotel. The hotel is very clean, comfortable and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The staff is very professional, friendly and made us all feel at home. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights in October having obtained some really cheap Ryanair flights to Bremen. The best rate for this hotel is via gtahotels.com, which also includes breakfast but unfortunately they'd sold all their rooms so we booked direct with hotel. Got a room only rate of 97 euros per night. We upgraded our room on check-in to a business room inclusive of mini bar. The room/minibar upgrade cost an extra 10 euros per night. With hindsight this probably wasn't worth doing as the mini bar only has beer and soft drinks - no nuts or chocolate and no spirits. Beer is so cheap over there anyway, you'd be better going to the supermarket and stocking up. Aldi and Lidl have branches in the city centre! Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the square so very good for people watching! The sound proofing was excellent and we slept really well without being disturbed by any noise whatosever. The beds were really comfortable. We asked for extra pillows and these were provided without a problem, as was an iron and ironing board. There are no catering facilities in the room, but we took our travel kettle and reception were happy to supply us with cups. I used the hairdryer in the bathroom, and there is a very good shower. Everything was immaculately clean. Toiletries not replenished during three night stay, and the towels are a bit small but other than that the room was lovely and the maid service excellent. The hotel is very centrally located, right next to the train station. From the airport, catch tram number 6 and it drops you right outside the hotel. You have to buy your tram ticket inside the airport terminal. When you check in you receive free tickets for the tram and bus for the length of your stay and we made a lot of use of these. We ate in a lovely tapas bar in Schnoor district - the old part of town. We also spent a very enjoyable day in the Burgerpark which is just behind the hotel and caught a tram to the Rhodedendron Park, which is very pretty. The transport system is absolutely fantastic, quick, easy, efficient, cheap. They're years ahead of the UK. Can't believe how many bikes there were - good safe cycle lanes coloured red on the pavements. The shopping is fantastic, but bear in mind they're closed on Sundays. We really enjoyed our visit to Bremen and this hotel proved an excellent choice. The Mercure hotels are both just across the road, and looked good too, but avoid the City Hotel around the corner, looked very dodgy! The people are very friendly, and the Reception staff very helpful. The only problem I had was on checkout when they charged me 107 euros per night, when in fact it was 97 euros. I phoned them from the airport when I noticed the error and they promised to refund my card, which they did immediately. I definitely recommend this hotel and I hope you enjoy Bremen as much as we did! Just returned from a 3 night stay. Perfect hotel very central ,got a room overlooking the courtyard were you could not hear the trains. Breakfast is very good and there is a large choice and plenty of room. There are a lot of eateries in the station next door which is very clean. Staff are very helpful and the tourist office is in the station next door. Brilliant centrally located Hotel in the heart of Bremen which means whatever time of day you want to eat you have the opportunity at one of the food stands in the Main Station or across the road where the trams pull in. Very good room, comfortable and adequate, loads of wardrobe space. Breakfast was excellant loads of choice although Sunday morning was busy with all the guests seeming to arrive at 9.00 - 9.30am the staff were helpful, polite and this is a non smoking hotel which made the atmosphere very pleasant. The free transport pass is very worthwhile although once you have found out how to navigate your way around you find plenty of shortcuts to the main shopping areas and cathedral, rathaus and Shnoor area which is quaint. We ate at John Benton restaurant nr. the Rathaus - delicious and well presented food for a very reasonable price. Overall we covered most of the sights in two days but we would go back and definitely stay at the Intercity as we found the other hotels too far out even with the transport pass. Also drink Beck's not wine its far to expensive in restaurants. Located right next to the train station and opposite a large tram station, this hotel is probably as convenient as it gets in Bremen. I arrived early morning that day in Bremen, and dropped by the hotel to see if I could possibly check in early; although there was no room that I could check into, the hotel offered to look after my lugguage and provided me with the Bremen travel card for the period of my stay. The same offer was provided the day I checked out of the hotel, so I can definitely say the service provided by the check-in desk staff is great. The room was not bad, although my room overlooked the train station, when I shut the window, I never had a problem with noise, in fact, I enjoyed a good night's sleep each day. If I really have to think of a negative, it would just be that the bathroom only had a shower and no bathtub, but to me, that is a rather minor thing. Breakfast was varied and decent, the selection of hot food could have been greater, but given the trays were always replenished, I felt it was ample. This hotel deserves more than 3 star i'm sure. The location is excellent, the public transport deadly easy, the breakfast is better than in some 4 star hotels, and you can get pretty good rates if you shop around the internet. I stayed 4 nights, and was really impressed when i saw the building from outside.Check-in is efficient and fast, i asked for internet, and i get a card, which i used during my stay in my room (for free). Nice touch also to get free public transport ticket for the whole stay (also for free). The breakfast is worth to try, there is a big selection from fish to all kind of hot food also. Even if you go there late, won't find leftovers, as many hotels don't fill up the plates. But here everything was fresh and very tasty. The rooms are fine, the minibar good. There is a very little noise, i dont understand the felow traveller complaining about the noise....This is a city hotel, not a country hotel. Yes, there is a bit noise because of the proximity of the train/tram station, but i'ts not excessive. So there is no need to worry about the good night sleep :-) Overall good experience and recommended when you are visiting this beautiful city. This hotel could be a 4 star hotel easily. Clean Modern and excellent buffet breakfast. Easy to reach, leave the airport catch tram number 6, get off at the train station and the hotel is there. The hotel provided us with FREE public transport tickets for our entire stay. The staff spoke excellent english and provided help with places to visit. Could not fault. First class friendly service. Excellent location in a wonderful city. Delicious breakfast suiting all tastes we were a group of 11 from every continent and normally very difficult to please but to a man we loved it. Beds comfortable, clean rooms and powerful showers. Excellent value for money including the drinks at the bar. Location is fantastic 15 minutes on tram 6 from outside the airport to outside the hotel. The area is lively with food and drink available 24/7. The main station is right next door with a concorse with lots of cafes and shops. Things worth doing include a walking tour around the city, the schlacte, the windmill, the burger park and the Schnoor (whilst there have a meal in Katzen Cafe 38 Schnoor which is probably the best place you'll ever eat). Bremen is a truly wonderful city with something for everyone including fantastic cycle paths, wheelchair accessibility, clean streets and a friendly open attitute. Iam a buveller business traveller staying in hotels approx. 150 nights a year, and the Inter City Hotel in Bremen is by far my favourite business hotel. Great value for money, great Fleming's restaurant, helpfull and skilled employees, clean and quite rooms, great internet connectivity. Definetly a great recommendation if you travel to Bremen. Just back from a 4 night stay in Bremen and was really pleased with the hotel, from its location, cleanliness, comfort, breakfast & bar prices, there was really nothing to fault it. I would say that its mainly used by business people but there was a smattering of leisure travellers like ourselves who all seemed reasonably happy to be there. The breakfast was very good and the free tram pass was a nice touch, although we never had our ticket asked for on any tram we rode on! Bremen's main sights are within easy walking distance as are the main shopping areas. The main drawback at the moment is the weak Pound against the Euro which means searching out bargains is becoming increasingly difficult. Plenty of good reviews of this hotel, and I would only agree with them. But to give another example, we left the hotel this morning, 26 August at 10:00a.m. caught the No.6 tram to the airport, and by 10:35 a,m. we had cleared security at the airport and we were in the departure lounge. Had one evening meal in the hotel, food found to be ok. Another place to try is the Ratskellar,(which should be in most guide books). Our only disappointment was the boat trip up the river, which only had a commentary in german. This is a great hotel and excellent value. Rooms were clean and, even though we backed onto the railway line, it was not very noisy. Included with your room you receive a free pass to the cities public transport system. Although most of the main sights are within a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Superb hot and cold buffet breakfast, plenty of choice. This is a great value-for-money hotel. We got a good deal through www.gtahotels.com, paid 192 EUR for a double room for three nights. All taxes and breakfast was included. Nice staff and efficient check-in. Upon check-in you also get free transport tickets for your entire stay. Valid for trams and buses in Bremen. Not that we needed it much as it is a small city, but still it's a nice gesture. From the airport you just jump onto tram 6 which takes you to Hauptbahnhof in 10-15 minutes and then you're right outside the hotel. On the way back you'll of course also travel for free on your transport ticket. Breakfast was good and they refill the trays to closing time, something that some hotels often fail to do. Rooms were very clean and modern, nice size. A group of us recently stayed at this hotel for a long weekend. The rooms were a good size and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient without getting in the way. Hotel is in a great location for exploring Bremen and also getting trains to other nearby towns. Would recommend. The hotel is perfectly located in Bremen! - Just 10 minutes by tram (no.6) to the airport - Just 10 minutes walk to the city centre - Just next to the main train station - Just 15 minutes walk to Becks factory The hotel room is simple and clean. Breakfast is yet again simple, nothing excessive. But look towards the far right of the buffet, there will be some eggs and sausages. We missed it on our first day! Definitely a recommended hotel during your visit to Bremen. I was looking for a central hotel near enough to the Aldstadt (old town) and the river front at a reasonable rate. Cityhotel offered this. Only 10 minutes from the airport (taxi 10 Euro) and dropped off directly outside this was an ideal choice. Some reviews had mentioned it was noisy in their rooms so I requested a room away from the station train tracks. The rooms are clean, contemporary, the pillows and duvet excellent. Being situated near the station, the area is not the best, but I felt safe and the walk to the Aldstadt is only 5-10 minutes away. The same applies for the River Front. Breakfast is 13Eur which is a bit steep - TIP - we only wanted breakfast for one morning, not every one, yet when we checked out we had been charged for every day. Whilst I managed to get the additional charge deleted, if you dont want breakfast every day mark it on your signing in card. On the whole a great central hotel, decent buffet breakfast and reasonable cost (90 Euro for twin room) and would recommend again as an ideal stopping venue. Have just returned from a 2 night stay in Bremen at the InterCityHotel Bremen. Terminal E which is dedicated to Ryanair flights is small. By the time we got through passport control our bags had arrived on the belt. Straight into a taxi (11 Euros). Arrived at the InterCityHotel which is right next to the main train station. The area in front of the hotel is very busy as it's one of the main tram stations also. The hotel is classed as 3 star superior which is probably about right. It is comparable to a Holiday Inn in the UK. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main square. Hotel reception is nice, check in was friendly and efficient. Allocated room 426 which is facing the front street. I did not hear one train from here however you could hear the trams a lot. I have to say however that the noise did not bother me even when we slept with the large window open. The room does get very warm even without the heating on. Room is small but not uncomfortably so. It had all the usual things TV, desk, safe, phone, Internet Connection for laptops and also a minibar (prices reasonable but only alcohol was beer). There was not an iron. Bathroom was small with stand up shower (no bath) but was very clean. Towels were thin and only hand soap and hair and body shampoo were provided in dispensers on the wall, so bring your own. Their was a hairdryer in the bathroom. We didn't eat in the hotel however there was a restaurant and also a bar which we had several drinks late in the evening. Bremen old town is very nice however I did find the market a little disappointing, not so much due to the size but more due to the type of thing you could buy. Although Bremen is geared up for tourists they are not so used to English tourists. Don't be surprised if you have to choose dinner from a German menu. I'm sure this will change in the future though. The shnoor (spelling) area is very nice and we had dinner in one of the restaurants there on our 2nd night. I wouldn't return to Bremen and if I was to visit a christmas market again the future would either go to Hamburg or Nuremburg, however for the next few years I will stick with the excellent Lincoln market. The hotel is in a fantastic location next to the train station and in front of the bus and tram station as well. Despite this we did not hear any noise from either the trains, buses or trams. We asked for a smoke free room and this is exactly what we got, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable and the room came with free tolietaries. It is very similar to the travelodge/premier travel inn type of hotel but with a shower not a bath. Getting to and from the hotel to the airport could not have been simplier, we just came out of the airport and crossed the road to the tram stop. The trams run really regularly about every 15-20 minutes and it is was only a 15 minute journey to the main station, you get off the tram and the hotel is just behind you. The free public transport ticket provided by the hotel was most useful for getting back to the airport as we walked everywhere in Bremen, even if you are not a great walker everything is really near in this compact city. Evening meal in the hotel was very good and also very good value and the bar prices were the same as in the local bars. We got our breakfast at the train station, where there are a number of take away outlets as well as a bakery and shops, these are also open on a Sunday (unlike shops elsewhere). The hotel staff were really helpful and spoke very good English (my German is non existent) and even looked up tram times to go back to the airport for us. We arrived too early to check in but the hotel stored our bags for us. Would recommend. We had to work in the Messe, the exhibition hall behind the train station, so the location of the hotel - being next door to the station (literally sharing the same sidewalk/plaza) - was perfectly convenient. It's true that the hotel is right next to the train tracks, but the trains stop running after a specific hour and though I can be a light sleeper sometimes, the 'whoosh' sound of a modern train is less sleep-disturbing that a drill or a hammer. Thus, after the first night, it didn't really bother me any more; when i noticed it at all. It also depends on the distance of your room from the train tracks - which you should work out with the (English-speaking) front desk, if you're worried about it. We were on the 5th floor, so there wasn't even 'vibrating furniture'' with the passing of a train . Our double room - reserved from Expedia at 75 euro per night - was clean, fairly roomy, bathroom with shower (but no freebies, like shower cap, gels, etc.), Tv and internet hook-up. It was a very comfortable place to return to after being out all day. The bar/ restaurant , 'Fleming' in the lobby is very welcoming and accomodating as well. As far as food, the interior of the train station seemed like one big international food court and so the worst dilemna was deciding "what not to eat' to not compromise my weight-watching endeavours. On our last day there, we wearily decided to drag ourselves into the elevators and go no further than the restaurant downstaris to have our breakfast and it was really a tasty and well-made ,warm and cold buffet more like a 4-star than 3-star fare. We parked our car in front of the exhibition hall , behind the station, and though we couldn't believe it was only 4 euro per day, it was actually true! However, don't even think of leaving valuables or anything that attracts the eye. (We saw no signs of break-ins, but this is a general precaution taken by all seasoned travellers.) I stayed here for a weekend (Friday/Sat night) and can honestly recommend it for those who need a central, clean place to stay during a visit to Bremen. It is right next to the main station and you can get almost anyway from there. Everything was clean, comfortable and the restaurant, food and menu was excellent. I was surprised to even get breakfast at 11.05am and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The only downside was that you occasionally hear the trams or trains passing by...but what do you expect in such a centrally placed hotel? The only other thing was the size of the rooms which are a bit on the small size, but unless you are really, really fussy about these sorts of things I would'nt bother finding anywhere else to stay in Bremen, especially at the price. I would definitely stay in the Intercity again if I returned to Bremen. Had a 3 night stay at the Intercity hotel during half term week with my partner and our 12 yr old son, booked via Hotelopia website, excellent price included breakfast and a travel pass for the trams/buses for all 3 of us. Good location, next to the train station, 10 mins walk from the centre, ample size room for all 3 of us, very good breakfast selection, very friendly and helpful staff. Airport to hotel via tram No 6 is approx 2 euro's each or about 12 euro's in a taxi..10-15 mins travel time. Bremen centre has good shopping if required, excellent old town area, especially the schnoor part. When we were there the annual 2 week festival was on which meant the biggest funfare we've ever seen 5 mins walk from the hotel, our son enjoyed that for the evening visits, this meant we didn,t visit many eateries during the evening as too much choice to eat at the fair and plenty of drinking emporiums too. Anyone visiting with children should find the science museum at the university site worth going too, plenty of "hands on" exhibits for the kids, ours thoroughly enjoyed himself there..the free travel pass came in handy for that visit , tram No 6 again. All in all a very nice break, nice city centre and great festival while we were there, they do know how to do a good funfare in Germany + good hotel and location. The staff was not very friendly and their English language ability is not on standard. The location is very good, especially if you plan on using the public transport. The train station is next to the hotel and all trams and busses stop in front of the hotel. Despite this, I found it not to be too noisy. Considering I booked this hotel at the very last minute and it was the last hotel available my expectations were not high. However, we found the hotel rooms to be comfortable, clean and reasonably quiet. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant was great. It is a ten minute walk into town or if you are really lazy (like me and my wife) you can catch a tram. Being next to the train station is handy as there are plenty of shops if you need anything (we arrived at around 2am on a Saturday morning and could still get food in the station). All in all - nothing to get too excited about but a safe bet.

This hotel claims they have quiet, soundproofed rooms, despite the fact that they are right along side of the main trainstation. Unless you can sleep through anything, don't believe it. There are quiet rooms, inside rooms on one of the first three floors, but everyone tries to get one of them after a sleepless night. They even have some rooms with fold out couches, for those that like paying to stay at their parents house. Plusses you should take advantage of, if forced to stay here, are the free Internet (Ethernet, not wireless, in all rooms), and free tram pass for Bremen. Even the restaurant is pretty good. In my opinion this hotel has been vastly overated by other reviewers. Only the person who wrote the first review gave a true reflection of what this hotel is really like. It is true that the hotel is close to the station but having the tracks just a few metres from your room is no joke. There has been some attempt at soundproofing but I found that whenever a train went past there was a loud, vibrating rumble - not a vague whoosh as one reviewer put it. Also, these trains do not stop running at night as another reviewer stated. In fact, I found that late at night the number of freight trains increased. Even with earplugs, they can still be clearly heared. It was very difficult to sleep. The room was just about adequate, nothing special. And they supplied just one pillow for a double bed. This meaness extended to the small bathroom where the usual extras such as shower caps, shampoo and gels were not supplied. The buffet breakfast was also nothing to write home about. It was just about adequate, several tables were not ready to use and the waitresses were slow in bringing a pot a tea, if they came at all. They also didn't bother to ask if you wanted coffee instead. The only advantage of this hotel is the free tram pass. But this did not make up for the dreadful experience I had at this hotel. There are some people who get the few quieter rooms but they are the preferred guests or the lucky ones. I would definately never go back.
