5 of 5  Sol S'Argamassa - the system works !, A TripAdvisor Member, Surrey, August 24, 2007

Booked this hotel having read reviews on this forum site - cancelled a previous booking in Turkey having also read reviews on this site - it's great that this forum system works. I (hope) I am not an internet geek and would'nt normally bother writing this if the forum had'nt had such an influence on our holiday this year and made such a difference to where we ended up !

I am reasonably fussy, my father having been a hotel manager and am particularly critical of food and cooking believing that standards ussually fall well below expectations.

I am delighted to say that the Sol S'Argamassa was a pleasant surprise and very much as per other recommendations on this forum.

Location - slightly remote but of no consequence if you have a car and also given the size of Ibiza - it's tiny - it takes 30 minutes to go from one side to the other . The hotel is on it's own small beach and overlooks a bay - I would recommend paying a little extra and having a seaview room - it makes a big difference to every day, waking up and looking out of the balcony on to such a nice seaside view.

If you have kids (we had two 12 year olds) there is plenty for them to do - when not in the pool they can snorkel in the crytal clear water a few yeards away (or fish) and/or depending on your wallet do lots of watersports - also just next to the hotel, including : watersking, Donut, Banana, jet ski, paragliding etc.

Building - would'nt win any design awards but it is'nt massive and oppresive like some, it's pretty modern and obviously well maintained - very clean and everything works

Rooms - Clean and cleaned perfectly every day - full marks - everything including shower, tv, aircon and safe works as they should do.

Entertainment - laid on every night - not our cup of tea but they try hard and a couple of events such as the 'Chill Out' night were really well and professionally organised and actually good fun - plus of course it is yet more things to keep the kids occupied.

Staff - Without exception, extremely helpful and friendly and always happy and smiling - I don't normally leave tips for hotel staff but I did on this occasion - friendly happy staff make a big difference to the overall experience. The hotel management is not small minded either, they have good facilities for showewring and changing etc if you leave after you have checked out and went out of their way to extend my room a little longer - we were even told that we would not be charged for an extra evening meal if we decided to spend the eveining prior to out flight at the hotel.

Food - Well its a buffet so I would'nt expect cordon bleu also no matter how hard they may try, when you are eating breakfast and supper in the same restaurant 7 days in a row, it does become a little bit repetitive - however - there was a fantastic selection of good food which chaged every day and a good variation every night, there were chefs cooking fish and meet and pasta freshly to order for people who wanted that, they also have a proper Pizza oven if you like Pizza - you can eat yourself into oblivion if you want - there is no limit on how many helpings you have ! The fresh fish on one night was sea bass - not a cheap fish, and meat included sirloin steak etc - it appears they make a genuine attempt to offer 4 Star food not just to try to fob you off with cheap cuts or yesterdays left overs - so full marks on the catering front.

Perhaps one of the main reasons why the food is good is that 80% of the guests were Spanish although more Brits arrived just before we left - Spanish people like their food and their cooking and will not accept the sort of rubbish that the average Brit seems happy to put up with ! It also mean't that many of the dishes were local specialities - not the usual burger and chips.

If you like wearing a football shirt 7 days a week and have recently had England tatooed across the back of you neck then Es Cana is the place for you - it's 5 minutes drive away and full of places serving English beer, Chips with everything, English breakfasts and non-stop Sports TV with a daily selection of live matches - we went there twice, once to catch the boast to Ibiza Town and the seciond time to visit the weekly Hippy market.

I would strongly recommend you hire a car, even though you won't do much mileage it means you can explore the Island - there are literally hundreds of small beaches on every coast each with it's own distinct features - I have attached a few pics - each has it's own collection of bars, restaurants, sunbeds, umbrellas etc .

All in All I would definately recommend this hotel - it may not be the cheapest option but it is worth every penny of the extra and I'm glad I read the reviews - hence my own.

If we were to re-visit Ibiza again, we'd definately book this one again.

5 of 5  Respite for the Weary, A TripAdvisor Member, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, July 21, 2007

After leaving Pamplona, this hotel provided the peace and quiet we were looking for. With subtle and in the background programs for kids, we enjoyed this hotel because it was isolated but minutes from the action. The morning breakfast buffet was more than adequate, and pool and grounds maintained well. Our room was clean, quiet, and above average for a resort like Ibiza. The beach towel exchange was welcome, and the staff more than polite and helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

Remember, this is not Ibiza Town or San Antonio, and not for those looking for a roaming party. This was more akin to a quiet night in Virgin Gorda or a small Carribean resort.

5 of 5  Fantastic Holiday, A TripAdvisor Member, Wsm, July 4, 2007

Lovely hotel if you want peace and quiet.

Food was good - cold and hot food, chef to grill fresh meat and fish in the evening and cook fresh omelettes for breakfast. Plenty of choice, italian section, lots of salads. Food does get a little samey after two weeks but I personally always find this on holiday where ever I go.

Hotel is a lovely location right on the beach with fantastic views to beach and hills beyond. Beach by hotel is not the best but Cala Martina is a short walk to the left of the hotel and Cala Pada, the best beach is a short ten minute walk along the 'cliff'' to the right of the hotel. Cala Pada is very pretty beach, no big hotels looming in the background. We also found this a good place to go for an evening drink.

Mixture of nationalities in the hotel.

Entertainment was the usual but their enthusiasm was to be admired. We enjoyed 'Chill out' night the best as more up our street.

All in all we all really enjoyed our stay at Sol S'argammassa. Perfect place to just chill out by pool or beach. Can imagine good base to be if you wanted to explore more of Ibiza.

Ibiza is lovely island with a lot more to offer than just the party scene. Island has a lovely laid back atmosphere and has managed to maintain some of it's spanish charm.

If you want blackpool and lots of partying don't go here!!!!!!

5 of 5  In a word Perfect!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Kent, June 20, 2007

Returned a week ago from the Sol S'Argamassa and already wanting to go back! An imaculate hotel with all that we wanted, staff incredibly friendly and seem to get to know each guest individualy and cannot forget to mention Mr Fred Flintstone! Who although is meant to be for the children certainly had us in fits! Hats off to Roberto and Patricia they really worked so hard!

We had a fabulous room on the top floor looking out to see which was cleaned everyday and could not fault. Food in the restaurant was plentiful and various and if you fancy a change there are plenty of local bars and restaurants within walking distance. Es Cana is a 15 minute walk but really was not our cup of tea as a little cheap and cheerful and Santa Eulalia is about 3 miles away we did walk in a few times and got a taxi back this is set around a marina and really was a lovely resort. A Taxi back was about £4.00 and when we go back again we would get a taxi in for the evening.

All in all fab time and as a moany Travel Agent I would more than recommend!!!!

5 of 5  The Quiet Side of Ibiza, A TripAdvisor Member, Berkshire, June 17, 2007

My two best friends and I wanted a quiet girls break and stayed at this very nice, very friendly hotel. The staff, food, entertainment team, surroundings, comfort etc were all excellent. Next to the hotel, if you follow a little path for about two minutes you come to an excellent beach with sunbeds and umbrellas and the charge is only 3 euros. My only reservation is that it is not on a bus route (may be different in peak season) so taxis are a must if you want to get about. The restaurant on the beach is just superb! The food is excellent and ranges from sandwiches to full meals. It is owned and run by local ibizans and specialises in fish dishes, all caught fresh that day. We had three excellent lunches with a 1.5litre jug of lovely Sangria for about £10.00. You must book on Sunday as the place is full with locals enjoying lunch with their families. The weather was excellent, not too hot but it can get very windy in the afternoons. The hotel is ideally located for the hippy market on Wednesdays (well worth a visit) and is about 15 minutes walk or a very cheap £5 taxi ride back. Take the boat to Santa Eulalia or Ibiza Town - again excellent value for money.

5 of 5  Great hotel, great location, A TripAdvisor Member, Gravesend, Kent, June 5, 2007

The Sol S'Argamassa is a lovely hotel, in a beautiful location on the coast between Es Cana and Santa Eulalia - and within walking distance of the beach at Cala Pada, which seems to be a very well kept secret - although there's a regular boat service from there to Santa Eulalia. We paid a tad extra at the hotel for a sea view and it was well worth it. Ideal for anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, and for anyone who likes a bit of walking - beautiful coastal walks in both directions. We hired a car as well so we were able to drive around but if you're fit and like walking it's not really a necessity. The hotel staff were without exception helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and very comfortable; there is a fridge to keep cold drinks in but we took a travel kettle because there are no facilities for making tea/coffee in the rooms. Other than that we had everything we needed and got the impression that the staff would help if we needed anything extra. There was entertainment each evening - not our cup of tea and usually not in English but those who chose to go seemed to be having a good time! The noise usually stopped at about 11.30pm so was not a problem for us; anyone with children or who likes an early quiet night might want to ask for a room away from the bar/pool where the entertainment takes place. We booked flights and hotel separately so had no travel rep; but the staff were approachable and although they did not all speak fluent english (still better than our spanish though) I believe they would have helped us with any information we needed - on the other hand, there was no hassle from anyone and we had a very relaxing time. Highly recommended - we will be going back again, alas not soon enough!

5 of 5  Incredibly relaxing, A TripAdvisor Member, Grangemouth, Scotland, February 6, 2007

We stayed for one week in October 2006. We were looking for a relaxing week in good quality accommodation and hoped for some good weather. We were extremely lucky on all three counts. The S'Argamassa is in a beautiful spot, right on the beach in a little bay between Santa Eulalia and Es Cana. It is an easy walk to Es Cana via the coastal path and across a beach onto a road that takes you past the famous Hippy Market. You can walk in the opposite direction to Santa Eulalia but this is not for the faint hearted and takes over an hour. However, it is really worth the effort (as long as you have no mobility problems) and you can always get a taxi back (8 euros). Another good tip is to walk into Es Cana and get the ferry to Santa Eulalia.

Back to the hotel. The reception is impressive with shiny marble floors and very helpful staff. The restaurant is excellent with good food and reasonably priced drinks. We never had a bad meal and as it is buffet style you can avoid the things you might not like. The rooms were pristine. Beautifully furnished with small fridge and lovely bathrooms (good, powerful shower over bath, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries). All the public areas were spotlessly clean. The hotel is set in lovely grounds, leading down to the small beach and you can place your lounger either beside the pool or on the grassed area facing out to sea. We were surprised at the weather - 70 degrees in October. Because of its location you would have to take a taxi to venture out after dark but we were happy enough to stay around the hotel because the entertainment was good and we met some really nice people to hang around with.

In the high season there is a kid's club and because the hotel is right on the beach this would be an ideal location for families with young children who like the pool and beach and are not looking for bars and clubs. In October it was perfect for people like us looking for a relaxing break in a good quality hotel.

5 of 5  relaxing S'argamassa, A TripAdvisor Member, Glasgow, Scotland, October 11, 2006

the Hotel S;argamassa is set in a beautiful and very quiet location with fantastic views of the coast. A mixture of many nations holiday in this Hotel. There are wonderul coastal walks during the day(a bit scarey in places), unfortunately there isn't anywhere to walk in the evening appart from a road that leads to the main road. A taxi will cost 7eurost each way to Es Cana, a very "BRIT" resort(nice by day but tacky at night, English roast beef/ fish n chip pub grub, karaeoke, bingo, etc). To the otherside of S'argamassa is Santa Eulalia(8 euros by taxi each way), a lovely resort which boasts a beautiful marina. Lovely resaurants, a handful of good shops and the usual tourist tat., worth a visit by day and/or night.

The Hotael S'argamassa is pristine. Wonderful staff. It has an outside dinning terrace which is wonderful to watch the sunset.

The majority of the Hotel evening entertainment was of a very high standard. I was a bit concerned on arrival that I might get bored but I didn't.

I would reccomend this Hotel if you are looking for a very relaxing holiday .

A trip to Ibiza old town is a must. I also did a sunset cruise which was lovely.

Happy Holiday.

5 of 5  A little bit of paradise, A TripAdvisor Member, Coventry England, July 24, 2005

Having read other readers reviews of this hotel we booked here for twelve nights stay. We arrived at 3am and were quickly checked in and we were surprised to be offered a buffet meal in the restauraunt ! Very unusual for the middle of the night. Our room was very clean and spacious and had a free safe and fridge.

We thought that the location of the hotel at the end of a road was marvellous, fantastic views of the sea, a small almost private beach, two swimming pools, all types of water sports were close by. Considering this was July the hotel was surprisingly quiet during the day with plenty of sunbeds for everyone. The other hotel guests were mainly Spanish and French, very, very few British.

We have stayed at quite a few Sol hotels, and this is possibly the best one for food that we have stayed in, a tremendous choice every night of both hot and cold buffet meals plus a seperate pizza /pasta section.

The only downside that we found was that the snack bar by the pool was a bit limited for choice, but you only had to walk a few yards along the beach to find a nice bar that had a good choice.

All in all this is a perfect place to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday( a little piece of paradise) Go and enjoy!

5 of 5  Best kept secret, A TripAdvisor Member, November 26, 2004

We stayed her for 2 weeks in July and are returning again this summer.

The hotel is in an excellent quite location but within easy access of the busier resorts such as Es Cana and Santa Elulia. The hotel consists of two bathing areas and is situated on a quiet (virtually private) beach.

The hotel itself was very clean, very friendly and the food was excellent.

The most impressive thing for us was the willingness of the kids club representives desire to make sure that the kids had a great time and participated in all the activities at the hotel.

A good indication of how popular this hotel is the amount of regular (very friendly) Spanish guests that where also residing at this hotel with their families.

For the wife and myself this was the first holiday where he managed to get plenty of R & R without being pestered by the kids.

5 of 5  Perfect for a stress-free holiday, A TripAdvisor Member, scotland, July 13, 2004

The hotel is right beside a small beach so you can lie by the pool and look out over the sea. Everything is squeaky clean and the staff helpful and friendly. There is a small entertainment team who make you feel very welcome. They encouraged us all to take part in everything. With two teenagers we stayed by the 'active' pool - the other pool was peaceful and quiet.

No problems with sunbeds, there were plenty of them aand lots of space to put them.

The selection of food was fine, the Italian corner made fantastic pasta dishes. I am a very fussy eater but always found a selection of food I liked at each meal. We sat outside to eat and watched the boats sail by.

The air-conditioning was fantastic - better than some American hotels we have stayed in. The rooms have a mini fridge and safe provided which are both very handy. The entertainment although never that loud, stopped at 11:30 at night so we all had no problem sleeping at night.

We will go back!

4 of 5  Fantastic hotel, well worth it., A TripAdvisor Member, Belfast, April 12, 2009

I went with my fiancee to this hotel, we arrived at 3 in the morning and the reception staff were really polite, they even pointed us in the direction of the restaurant which had a selection of cold meats, breads and cheese for a late night snack, all free. The sea view rooms are simply breathtaking, we got one on the first floor, the balconies are twice the size of normal ones and you look out over the front pool, beaches and the Med. The restaurant is brilliant, great selection at morning and evening, the waiting staff are really polite. The cleaners cover every little corner very well and the rooms are well equipped, only problem is not many English language channels, but why are you on holiday to watch TV anyway? This hotel caters for families and the kids club is really well run, and the evening entertainment is decent enough and varied, Bee Gees tribute one night, Chinese acrobats another.

There is a good walk to the bus stop but contrary to the liar on the other review it is only 4 euros between there and Santa Eulalia, standard price.

Its pretty upmarket and aimed towards Spanish holidaymakers so don't complain about chips and fried bread.

4 of 5  What a view!, A TripAdvisor Member, Dublin, August 6, 2008

Stayed in the hotel in July for a week on a half board basis. Arrived on Saturday night and asked for a sea view room and the hotel were able to accomodate us by the Monday, albeit after 4 visits to reception and supplement of 15 euros per night, well worth it though. Rooms are basic, nothing luxurious about them but they were confortable enough. Food was good also, we ate there most nighs. Pool area is lovely and quiet. Entertainment on most nights was not bad but we went into Santa Eulalia most evenings. Hotel is not within walking distance of Santa Eulalia. We had a car for the week and I don't think I would have wanted to stay there without one. Live music on Wednesday evening at the hippy bar next to the campsite is good, after the hippy market finishes. Overall we enjoyed our stay however there were items missing from our room when we left, we complained to reception but nothing was done. They weren't of much value however we were not pleased as they were souvenirs we had purchased. On a more positive note, Bar Las Arenas en Es Canar is lovely for lunch, they do a set menu for 8 euros, well worth it.

4 of 5  Very Spanish hotel good for a quiet family holiday, A TripAdvisor Member, london, July 26, 2008

We have recently returned from the Sol S'Argamassa hotel. Having taken a holiday with our four children - a slightly difficult combination, two twenty year olds, a seventeen year old and our six year old. We were somewhat apprehensive and also found ourselves at a bit of a loss of what sort of hotel to base ourselves in and what sort of location to plump for. We opted of the Sol following the suggestion of our local independent travel agent.

Prior to departure I was worried. The hotel ratings varied from 2-4*. The hotel has an official local rating of 4*. I would say that overall this probably relates to a 3*. The hotel rooms aren't great. They are bare and utterly plain. Our double bed was in the so often Spanish style of two singles pushed together, but it's just one of those things. We weren't on a romantic trip!! Again, the bathroom was basic, no frills, nothing exciting but all clean. everything we asked for was done. Reception, along with all staff were friendly and helpful, altyhough not necessarily knowledgable on all fronts!

We were staying on a half-board basis and I was expecting a repeat of two previous trips where trays of hot fat were served on the buffet with plastic-ish pink meat lurking in them!!. Absolutely not the case. Breakfast was delightful every day and dinners were also pretty good with a different choicce every day.

There is a kids club where the kids get to have breakfast with Fred flintstone and Dino the dinosaur, with organised games. There is children's entertainment nightly followed by some sort of performance - of varying levles of quality!!! (If you are six though, they are all truly magnificent!!)

The one thing you must consider when booking Sol is that it is not the Ibiza you imagine. This is a quiet backwater, there are almost no english guests and nothing about the hotel is English in it's style.

We hired a car which we explored with. It might well be boring staying in the hotel for the duration of the holiday as the beach is not at all nice and has smelly seaweed!! A 5 min drive away is Es Canar which is a nice beach, recommendable.

NOWHERE NEAR THE BRIGHT LIGHTS AND PARTYING.If you are looking for this type of hotel you will loathe the Sol. Our kids all wanted to chill, and having been so nervous about them before leaving I was worried about them having a good time. The destination actually suited them. The vegged most of the time and did two night out.

I would recommend the hotel, plus it was excellently priced, if I was going back to Ibiza It would be to the Sol hotel.

4 of 5  Recommend The Sol S'argamassa, A TripAdvisor Member, Essex., July 1, 2008

We stayed for 10 days from 18th June, 2008. We arrived at our hotel after a very straight forward car journey from the airport. We had requested a room with a sea view and were very disppointed to find a double room with a very small balcony at the back of the hotel. The receptionist advised that there would be a suppliment of 15 euros per day, but we decided to pay and were very glad we did. The room was lovely with extensive sea views over the bay. Altough it was situated over the bar and swimming pool area, it was relatively quiet. (I don't know about high season though!!)

All the hotel staff were marvellous, nothing was too much trouble. The entertainment team especially made such an effort.

The selection and quality of food was good (we stayed half board), much the same as other buffet syle catering holidays we have been on.

We would recommend car hire as there are so many secluded beaches to drive to. The walk to the Hippy Market (about ten minutes) on Wednesday is a must.

A trip to San Antonio to see the sunset is also recommended. We managed to park near to the port and walked the short distance to Savannah Bar for a meal. The drinks are quite pricey in this area which is not suprising really. We had a lovely relaxing break and we will definately be returning to Ibiza and the SOL S'ARGAMASSA HOTEL.

4 of 5  Just The Job, A TripAdvisor Member, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, March 29, 2008

My self my husband and our 6 year old grandaughter stayed at this hotel last May. We had a lovely holiday, everything about the hotel suited us very well. We rarely strayed from the hotel as our grandaughter was more than happy there. The two pools are very clean. The resident entertainers are multi-lingual and work very hard to provide entertainment all day long to young and old alike although they are certainly not pushy with it.

The food is far better than average with a huge selection at both breakfast and dinner with a show cooking every evening, either fish or meat. The waiters are very attentive and remember you from one meal to the next making a special effort with the children.

We have stayed in Ibiza over 25 times we used to bring our children to the island and we would certainly rate this hotel as one of the better ones.

Yes it is a little remote but if you have a car that's not a problem its very easy to drive around the island. We liked not having tourist shops and noisy bars nearby but you can certainly find them if that is you want it.

Needless to say we have booked again for this May. We have booked direct with the hotel and independent flights its cheaper and the savings cover your car hire.

Many Spanish families were staying here and I think that says a lot about the hotel too .

4 of 5  Good if your fit!, A TripAdvisor Member, Darwen, Lancashire, September 21, 2007

Having been to Ibiza twice before & feeling quite comfortable & safe - knowing our way around quite well we decided to book our trip independant of any tour operator. We got a very very good deal on Travel Republic for 7 nights half board at the Sol S'argamassa hotel located between Santa Eularia and Es Canar. The flights, transfer and hotel were all booked seperatly (not as a package) but all via Travel Republic.

The transfer was great as there were only 2 other couples on the mini bus so it was much quicker than the coaches you get on with a package deal.

The hotel was very clean & reasonably modern. The food and service in the restaurant was good but personally i'm not very good with buffet style meals and find them a bit repetative. The pool and grounds to the back of the hotel are lovely with a few beaches in view of the hotel gardens. There is also a jetty about a 5 minute walk away where you can catch the ferry to Santa Eularia & Es Canar. We caught the ferry to Santa one day then changed boat to go over to Formentera which was a great day out.

The main draw back to the hotel is that it is a bit out of the way. Its a good walk upto the main road to catch the bus or it is possible to walk to Es Canar via the beach which brings you out near Punta Arabi campsite and where the hippy market is then down the road into Es Canar but I would only really recommend this in the light, if you are fit and if you are wearing the right shoes!

My husband & I hired mountain bikes which were great as there are only the two of us so we went off exploring on our bikes during the day but felt a little restricted at night as there isn't much to do near by and we're not really into hotel entertainment. But by all accounts they do have entertainment most nights and it's quite good if you like that sort of thing. Also noticed they have kids entertainers too.

If you like the look of this hotel but would like to be a bit more central I would recommend it's sister hotel where we stayed a few years ago - the Sol Ibiza hotel in Santa Eularia.

Hope this helps anyone thinking of going here.

4 of 5  Quiet, Peaceful, ideal for a beach holiday., A TripAdvisor Member, Chelmsford, United Kingdom, June 30, 2007

Quiet, peaceful and exactly what we were looking for. The hotel is located on a headland between Es Cana and Santa Eulalia on the beautiful island of Ibiza. The hotel itself is a pretty non-descript 1980’s concrete block, however it is clean and tidy, and the staff are friendly and helpful, could not be faulted. The rooms were cleaned each day and we pre-booked sea view room overlooking the pool.

The food in the restaurant is a typical international buffet with fresh cooked fish and meat available. The food isn’t fantastic but perfectly adequate.

If you want a bacon sandwich and a pint of Boddingtons, then Es Cana is only 15 minutes walk away and you will have all the English bars you will ever need. Have an evening in Ibiza town; Friday and Saturday are superb, go to the old town.

There are very few bars local to the hotel and the only one I would recommend is Paco’s bar.

A word of warning! The hotel location is superb with a very quiet beach in front of the hotel. Sadly this attracts the local thieves and unfortunately we had a bag stolen from under our nose, literally! And we were not alone 3 couples were robbed on the same day. So please, use the beach, but please be careful.

4 of 5  ibiza is great, A TripAdvisor Member, uk, June 15, 2006

we stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks May/June. The holiday is lovely, wonderful views of the bay. Staff were very nice and the hotel was spotless.

Just 2 minor things there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which I thought was unusual for a 4* and also no umbrella's around the pool areas, we did ask but were told there were none. This wasn't a problem for us as the hotel wasn't busy and we found shade in the lovely gardens, however I can envisage this being a problem in the high season.

The area around the hotel is very quiet, which suited us not sure if children over 10 would have enough to do. However you can get a taxi or boat to Santa Eularia or walk to Es Cana. Santa Eularia is great, didn't think much of Es Cana - to British Seaside. However the Hippy Market is good.

In the evening we went to a couple of bars the best being the Snooty Fox (turn left at the Blue Club) run by Martin and Tina, lovely couple very friendly, very knowllegable about the area. The best Sangria I've every had. If i'd spoken to them before booking a trip with the Rep I'd have found out how easy it is to get around by boat or bus.

All in all a great holiday.

4 of 5  Child Friendly, A TripAdvisor Member, England, September 26, 2005

We stayed at this hotel last week and had a great time. There are a few minor negative points so I'll go with those first. The walls in this hotel are thin, really thin. We were woken several nights by people walking around the room above and playing the tv too loud. We needed an extra bed for our toddler which meant the room was cramped.

It's on the very outskirts of Santa Eulalia, it looked to be about a 45 minute walk. (Walk about 10 minutes or so upto the main road and you are on the main bus route with 2 buses per hour).

The pools were really cold and the beach next to the hotel smelt of sewage, although they had just had the worst storm in 5 months when we arrived so that could have been the reason for this.

On the plus side, the hotel was spotless. It wasn't overcrowed and there was a good mixture of ages. The kids club looked good and the woman who ran it worked her socks off to make sure the kids had a good time. She was also the woman who organises games for older people and she ran the evening entertainment. Our son only went in once for 30 minutes but that was enough for her to recognise him and call him by his name for the rest of the week. The evening entertainment was fine, not top quality but fun all the same. One thing, the entertainment is loud and goes on pretty late. If possible I'd suggest not having a room on the first floor as I imagine you could be kept awake.

The room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels put in daily.

The food was plentyful with a huge choice, although not always as hot as we would have liked. But the choice especially if you have small picky children was just great. The restaurant staff were really friendly and were great with our son. They always went out of their way to fuss over him. We didn't have to wait more than a few minutes to order drinks. By the end of the week they knew without us asking for water for our son.

Although for us this hotel was a bit too far from the town (for us) it really is a beautiful spot overlooking the sea with a little jetty to watch the sun go down. If you want a quiet holiday this is the perfect place to stay.

4 of 5  Nice hotel BUT be aware...., A TripAdvisor Member, manchester, england, July 2, 2005

the hotel IS NOT in santa eulalia. It is at least a 30 minute walk away. The nearest resort is Es Cana which is also around a 15 minute walk away. That being said the hotel is very nice and clean and the staff very helpful.

The rooms were basic but cleaned daily with fresh towels etc. I wouldn't say it was 4* but it was nice and comfortable.

We stayed half board and thought the food was average. The cold items (bread, meats, salad etc) were very nice but the cooked items were very, very poor. We went out to eat almost every night and the taxi fare into santa eulalia was 8 - 10 euros each way.

Ibiza town is well worth a visit. Nice shops open until 10pm (ish) and the harbour area is beautiful.

4 of 5  The only Americans, A TripAdvisor Member, Vista,California, August 11, 2004

My wife and I stand at the Sol S'Argamassa from July 31 to Aug. 5. There was Spainish, English,Italian, etc., but no Americans that we could find on the island. It was great the way we were treated. We had just come from seven days in Europe and the difference was pleasing.

We loved the enrgy of the entire staff. The hotel Sol S'Argamassa was clean and well mangaged. The property around the hotel was peacefull. We rented a car while there and drove all over the island checking out beaches and the country side. We were happy to see how clean the island is kept. The people all over the island are very friendly. It did help that both my wife and I spoke spanish but it wasn't totally necessary. Go!!

4 of 5  Great Getaway, A TripAdvisor Member, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, October 18, 2003

I booked this hotel (Sol S'Argamassa) after finding it on the web. I was looking for a decent hotel in the area of Santa Eulalia, Ibiza for a few days R & R. I was actually looking for somewhere reasonably quiet which is how the companys web site described the area. I drove to the hotel from the airport in the dark and having never visited the island before, I was a little bit apprehensive about finding my way. The roads are however fairly well signposted and as Ibiza (watch out for Ibiza town being spelt Evissa on the signage) is a reasonably small island I found my way to Santa Eulalia and then to Es Cana with relative ease. The Hotel is off the main road before reaching Es Cana (follow the signs for the SArgamassa Palace hotel as the Sol SArgamassa is at the end of the same road. Dont get hotel envy however at the very salubrious looking Palace!!). Not very many parking spaces in the car park but I guess most tourists come by coach transfer. On first impressions, the lobby of the Sol SArgamassa is quite magnificent, spacious with all the marble you would expect of a four star hotel. The reception staff were friendly even although it was late at night and I was soon checked in and on my way to my room. This is a reasonably small hotel with only three floors and my room was located on the third floor close to the double lifts. Again even the stairways and lift lobby was spacious and airy. My room (accessed by electronic key card) was very nice, decent size and well decorated. All the usual amenities, mini bar, tv, air-con etc but no tea or coffee making facilities. There was also a safe in the room which was provided free of charge or deposit, a welcome change!! Patio doors led out onto the balcony, which overlooked the hotel pool and the bay towards Santa Eulalia. Very nice but I could not appreciate the stunning view until the next morning when as sea views go this one was superb. The sandy beach starts and the end of the short hotel grounds and is quite literally a stone throw away. There is not too much distance between the start of the beach and the sea but he water is clear and shallower than an It Girl during London fashion week. The sound of gently lapping water really soothes the soul here and if you choose to take a short stroll along the sand there are water sport facilities and a couple of restaurants close by.. Breakfast (included in the room rate) was an international affair with both hot and cold plates buffet style either in the very spacious dining room or to take out onto the patio to gaze at the magnificent view again. Plenty of choice (even cooked cauliflower and green beans if your palate so desired first thing in the morning), fresh bread, toast, pastries, croissants, etc.. After breakfast you could perhaps take a dip in one the two pools or visit the small gym to work off those extra sausages youve eaten. I really liked this hotel and although it was out of season in October, some entertainment was still provided. It was very quiet with a number of older guests so I you are looking for something raucous then perhaps it is not for you otherwise I would recommend it unreservedly. Oh and by the way it was very cheap at only 39 Euros per room per night via the web.

3 of 5  Worst beach ever, A TripAdvisor Member, lancashire, September 15, 2007

Lovely hotel on the worst beach ever, very little sand, more mud like and because there there was so much weed both in sea on on surrounding "beach" nobody went into the sea, The next beach to the left was ok, still lots of weeds but they seem to clear it a bit more, but a bit precarious to get to and no good at all if you have walking difficulties, The local bus stop was quite a way away from the hotel but the taxis were were quiet cheap..We found the entertainment was mainly aimed at children, ie Fantasia, Circus, Horror night even though there were very few chlidren there (all back at school) just a few babies. The majority of the customers were over 40 and not impressed with the nightlife. If you have a car the hotel makes a good base. The service, food (especially if you like fish) and staff were all above average and our only real disappointment besides the beach was the location. We like to walk but both beaches were unlit of a night and the pavements were dangerous. Es Cana was only a ten minute walk and is OK if you like Benidorm (we dont unfortunately) but Santa Eulalia only costs about 11/12 euros in a taxi and is a typical spanish town and well worth a few visits, We also spent a couple of days on the beach at Cala llonga (about 12/13 euros) which was lovely but there were quite a few people with jelly fish stings at the first aid posts.I was very disappointed with the location and would not go back there again.

5 of 5  Un Maravilloso Paraje para perderse, A TripAdvisor Member, Valencia, November 26, 2008

4 of 5  Personal encantador, A TripAdvisor Member, madrid, September 12, 2008

RECOMENDABLE 100%

4 of 5  Para repetir, A TripAdvisor Member, bilbao, August 11, 2008

3 of 5  HOTEL TRANQUILO EN IBIZA, A TripAdvisor Member, madrid, August 28, 2008

2 of 5  If you like a long walk ..., A TripAdvisor Member, SW Of London, September 30, 2008

The hotel itself is pleasant enough, and the staff were found to be friendly and helpful while having to deal with a number of different languages. The rooms were big enough and clean. Breakfast was fine. So now to the down points, which after all is the point of reading this. It is a long walk to the nearest bus stop (15 mins) to get to Es Cana or Santa Eulalia. We opted to take a taxi to Santa Eulalia which adds 8 Euros each way every time you want to go anywhere. The evening meals were hugely disappointing (we were half-board) so we ended up going out to Es Cana most nights. The nearest beaches are completely clogged with seaweed and are rocky. The facilities at the hotel are a bit limited. The walls are thin so you will hear your neighbours. We were 'sold' this hotel as being 4-star, which is why this review may seem a little harsh. In spite of these issues we still had a good time, but it probably was more like a 2-3 star hotel.

2 of 5  overated, A TripAdvisor Member, england, July 19, 2008

this is a PROPER account of the sarragamasa sol for all of you who are thinking of spending your hard earned money at this place!

we went to this hotel on the strength of the reviews on here but most of the people who av posted good reviews must have wrote them while on the sangria!!

on checking in i had on booking said i 100 per cent wanted a sea view room, alas the receptionist told me in spanish! that there were no sea view rooms left! we went up to our allocated room to open the curtains and brill a cement building!! i went straight to the reception and demanded a sea view room a.s.a.p to be told in a little english by a different member of staff that there was 1!! but i wud av to pay an extra 105 euros!! for 7 nights .

this hotel IS predominently for spanish tourists 100% so (perhaps thats why hardly any staff speak english) then the krauts then you will get a sprinkling of brits!!

only about 8 sun brollys!! but loads a sun beds

taxi is 30 euros from airport to hotel,if you want to hire a mountain byke at hotel/ 30 euros per person!

now the best bit !!the walls are the thinnest i av ever encountered in my life you can here /talking/alarms/walking/switches/people going to toilet well everything you hear everything from above the side and below.

the food caters 4 the spanish and is quite repetative, plus if you want a small bottle of water to drink at your eve meal 3.90 euros!

the snacks at the hotel leave alot to be desired i only tried it once and had to take my meat back to be cooked thru!!

aving tried the bars on the beach the best is the "hippy" bar walk left on the coast path and its the 1 in front a the campsite ,the last bar bout 500yds from the hotel.

it is a very isolated hotel so if you want a bit a life at night you will av to get a taxi into eullellia 8 euros ,or walk into es cana (15 mins)

2 of 5  Great Views but doesnt make up for service and food, A TripAdvisor Member, Nottinghamshire, England, September 15, 2005

This was my first holiday away with my partner and also to celebrate my 21st Birthday, We both wanted something quiet, somewhere to 'get away from the grind at home'. We arrived at the hotel having booked a double room with sea view, we paid for our room upon arrival, and went to our room which overlooked roof tops - No sea view! We then had to wait an hour in the lobby with all our luggage while another room was prepared for us.

When we got our room we were glad of the size and the cleanliness of it, the views over the pool area and the sea were fantastic.

The food for your evening meal was awful, we knew that it was going to be buffet style but we did not know that it was going to be cold!! The pasta had been out for that long it had gone cold and hard, and the service was terrible, one night we did not even get asked if we would like drinks with our meal, after numerous attempts to get the waiters attention we walked out.

Breakfast was not great either - especially after finding a live maggot in my bowl of dried fruit!!

The guest that stay at this hotel are mainly Spanish with a few Geman, French, and only one other British couple whilst we were there...(all with young children aged between 6 months and 24 months)

Hotel entertainment was aimed towards Familys with very young children.

If you wish to get out of the hotel a return taxi to Santa Eulaia will cost 20Euros, and to get to Es Cana you have to walk along the beach front - which is quite dangerous with small children as it is very rocky.

All in all a quiet hotel (except for crying babies) with fantastic views, but a let down with the food and service.

So the romantic get away for my partner and I was not what we had hoped for in the end, Shame really....

2 of 5  an italian point of view, A TripAdvisor Member, italy, August 13, 2005

I stayed a week with my family there where i booked 2 rooms.

The rooms were big, comfortable, quiet and clean.

The hotel's location was fantastic. The view was superb and the beach was small but very beautiful, There was a much better beach just 3 minutes'walk from the pool.

The 2 pools were quite big and not crowded. There wasn't much going on though.

The restaurant was large and very pleasant. The food was quite good with a very large selection.

Unfortunately the reception was terrible. They were rude and required me to pay for my weeks stay in advance in spite of my visa credit card guarantee. (was it because i was italian?). Well i refused so we agreed for a daily one day advance payment .....this went on until the second day.......maybe it was too much extra work for them......so they kindly told me that i could pay the rest of my stay the day of my departure. How nice of them!

Being a MAS member, when i checked in, i asked them if i could stay until 4 pm and they said there was no problem. Well after a pleasant week there and immediately after paying my bill they told me i could not stay till 4 pm because all the rooms were booked so i had to leave my 2 rooms by 12 pm. Well i asked them to talk to the manager and before noon after receiving another no i asked to talk to him personally and after 10 minutes of heated discussion he let us stay till 2 pm.

Well i personally checked and our 2 rooms were free all that afternoon until our departure at 5 pm (i stayed at the hall) so the mas policy to allow their members to stay in their rooms till 4 pm is not the case for this hotel.

Thanks to the reception personell and their manager i would never dream of stepping inside this hotel again. By the way they also awarded me half of the Mas points i deserved. They forgot i had 2 rooms. So now i had to write to MAs for points redemption. So remember to ask for the receipt when you pay or you wont be able to redeem your points.

1 of 5  Left early, A TripAdvisor Member, Londres, June 4, 2008

We booked six nights in this hotel but left after three. We use the Melia Hotels all the time but I would not give this hotel 4 stars. Basic rooms, not very clean, food terrible, could not believed that we had to pay even for a bottle of water with our evening meal and some very miserable service in the restaurant and reception.

A terrible beach where we saw our first yellyfish (medusa) and two not very inviting swimming pools. A silly little gym.

The only good point was the young people running the children club, very friendly.

Booked the Hotel Torre del Mar, outside Ibiza Town for the rest of the holiday and loved it.
