City Hotel Freiburg

We stayed at this hotel after reading through the reviews on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. As the other reviews have mentioned, the hotel is located right on the edge of the old town and is very convenient for tourists. There is a parking garage available, which was important for us (although we kept missing the turn in to the hotel, I thought my GPS was misleading me, it looked like I had to turn into a building...) The rooms were clean and of good size, and quiet. Breakfast was simple but filling, with your typical breads, meat, cheese, juice and cereal. They also had eggs and sausage, which was a nice touch. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who does not want to spend a lot of money on a hotel but is looking for a nice, simple quiet place to stay near the city center.

My husband , my son and I came to Freiburg from Israel for the graduation of my son at the University . The 3 nights stay at City Hotel only enhanced for us this festive occasion. We had a large room , very convenient to accomodate 3 adults . Everything was to our liking , the spotlessly clean facilities, the pleasant breakfast room , the nice personnel and the tasty and rich breakfast .

Finally , the last but not the least feature is the excellent location of the hotel , minutes on foot from the center , the university , the shops and the train station .

We have decided that not only will we recommend this hotel to others , but also we will return here the next time we will be in Freiburg .

City Hotel in Frieburg is located near the pedestrian Kaiser Joseph street.

The owners are a young couple. Under their supervision the hotel is kept in absolute cleanliness. They have an elevator from the receiption to all

floors, the only problem is the elevator does not go to the garage, so

one needs to carry the suitcase either up or down to the garage.

The breakfastre buffet is wonderful. The reception is always friendly, helpful and courteous. We have been staying in this hotel over ten years now, nearly every year. When we complained the beds were a bit too soft

for us they put a board under the mattresses. We never had to ask

again to put this board, once we book the room the board is already there

upon our arrival. For Chirstmas we get a small present with a

nice greeting. We are always upgraded to a bigger room owing to the

fact that we are "old customers".

This hotel makes us really feel at home.

I have stayed at this hotel many times and it is excellent. It is very well situated just off the Kaiser Joseph Strasse. The area is quiet although you are very near the shops and the trams.

It is always clean and the staff are friendly.

The breakfast is to die for. If you are in this neck of the woods the City Hotel is well worth a visit.

It doesn't look like much but on the inside it is a really good straight 3 star hotel. It is fresh, very clean and the rooms, whilst not palatial, are comfortable and everything works.

The hotel is easy to find, there is parking underneath in a secure car park and its location is handy to the old part of Freiberg and the university for that matter. Just a 2 minute walk to the cathedral square or the shopping strip.

We found the hotel staff very helpful with directions to a laundry, dinner (would recommend the Heilig Geist (Holly Ghost) beside the cathedral), sights etc.

Breakfast was generous and satisfying although the breakfast room got a little cramped as a tour group grabbed breakfast before hitting the road but the staff coped well.

Would recommend this property for a short stay as I would recommend a night in Freiberg as part of a Black Forrest tour.

We stayed here in September 2008. It was a good location, parking garage was in an area underneath the building. The room and bathroom were spacious and quiet. Average breakfast choices. Staff were helpful, friendly, and spoke English. The room size and quietness made it above average for a plain exterior, medium sized hotel.

We had a wonderful time a this hotel. We only stayed one night, but found the experience quite nice. You are very close to all the shops and good places to eat, and the breakfast is wonderful. Our room faced the main street, so it was a bit noisy, but the room was very clean and nice.

I travel extensively for business, in Europe, Asia, and USA. I prefer modern, minimal-frills chain hotels where I can work and rest. Stayed here for one week in Sep 05.

PLUSES: Large room on 4th floor. Clean, neutral furnishings. Grocery store adjoining. Window opens [Note: noisy street once window is open]. Armoire with doors so clothes not subjected to room air.

MINUSES: No Internet access. No Tea Kettle. Minimal, fluctuating shower pressure and temperature.

SUMMARY: Not very convenient for business travelers, but good value and location. Adding WiFi and Tea Kettle to each room (total cost about Euro50 per room) would really boost appeal of this hotel IMHO.

Ho prenotato per le vacanze di fine anno un soggiorno di quattro notti con la mia famiglia chiedendo di avere una camera quadrupla per avere i bambini in camera con noi.La direzione gentilmente ci ha messo a disposizione due camere doppie comunicanti molto comode e ampie.La pulizia delle camere è sempre risultata ottimale, come anche la colazione della mattina a buffet. La posizione dell'hotel è assolutamente impagabile essendo al limitare della zona pedonale della città vecchia (30metri).L'auto l'abbiamo parcheggiata nel comodo parcheggio sotteraneo dell'hotel. Il personale e la direzione si sono sempre dimostrati cortesi e disponibili anche per fornire eventuali informazioni turistiche.Assolutamente ottimo il rapporto qualità/ prezzo.Consigliamo assolutamente questo hotel anche per famiglie con bambini.

Das City Hotel ist ein kleines Hotel mitten im Zentrum von Freiburg, ein unterirdisches Parkhaus (gebührenpflichtig) mit privatem Eingang zum Hotel löst alle Parkprobleme. Der Empfang war sehr persönlich, so dass wir uns sofort wie Zuhause fühlten.Das Personal in der Rezeption war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser Zimmer war sehr geräumig, sehr sauber, nur das Badezimmer war etwas klein. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr gepflegt und liess keine Wünsche offen. Nur im Sommer muss man beachten, dass es keine Klimaanlage und keine Minibar im Zimmer gibt. Fazit: ein ideales Hotel für einen kurzen Aufenthalt in Freiburg. Wir werden bei unserem nächsten Besuch in Freiburg auf jeden Fall wieder dieses Hotel buchen.
