Friendly Staff, Great Stay | Read all reviews
Very happy and friendly staff. Clean hotel including the pool. Great quality and selection for the complementary breakfast. We were staying overnight to split up a long trip. The clean pool tired out the kids so they slept thru the night and the complementary breakfast had a great variety so all the kids ate something they liked, making it easy for us to get back on the road fast. We have made the trip from Des Moines to Toronto many times and other hotels always ended up being much less than we expected. We could not be happier with our stay here and it is now part of our itinerary for future trips. Thanks,

We visited this hotel for a trip to the Indiana Dunes and Warren Dunes. The hotel was very nice and clean. It looked like it had recently been renovated. Indiana Dunes is a short drive away, and it is only a half an hour to the Warren Dunes in Sawyer, MI. The continental breakfast was very nice. We couldn't have found a better place to make a home base for this trip. As with every other Hampton Inn we have stayed in, this one is clean, up to date, offers a decent complementary breakfast and has a friendly staff. The beds are very cozy and comfy. It is a half a block from the highway and about 8-10 minutes from the Indiana Dunes Visitor's Center. Very happy and friendly staff. Clean hotel including the pool. It's only about 45 minutes drive to Chicago which isn't bad. The hotel has free hot breakfasts, nice size heated indoor pool (bigger and nicer than other "inn" I've stayed in), free wireless internet. The bed is very comfortable with very comfortable pillows and down comforter. One only downside is they only provide Shampoo, bar of soap, and lotion, unlike other hampton inns that I've stayed at, which also provide conditioner. This is just a minor downside. Overall, I give 5 star rating to this hotel! I would like to compliment the manager Sharon Wirth, the day counter Jeanne Nelson and the afternoon counter Pam for their curtious and friendly demeanor during my stay from the 4th to the 7th. My truck broke down in Portage on July 4th and I was delivered to the Portage Inn by ramp truck. Pam welcomed me that afternoon. Since that time the staff went out of their way to help to make my stay as pleasant as possiable. I was allowed a ground floor room near the lobby to accomidate my artifical leg. They were always pleasant and friendly. The morning breakfast lady (whose name I didn't catch) was always full of great cheer. The house cleaning staff was always quick to help. I cannot say enough about the service and folks at the Portage Hamption Inn. Thank you for a pleasant stay. We spent a week here in October. This is a well run property, with great customer service. My wife and I wanted a thicker pillow. The GM herself, looked in storage, and brought us two new pillows that were just right. The breakfast is good enough to keep you happy until lunch. This hotel has brand new AC units that work efficiently. The exercise room has a nice treadmill, and a great new bicycle. All they need is an ET , and you have a fine exercise room. This property has a great location, between the Indiana TPK, and IH 94, close to the Indiana Dunes Nat'l Seashore. There is free Internet, and two daily papers. This is a nice place. Stayed at the Hampton Inn during a trip from Cleveland to Wisconsin. This hotel is a few blocks in off I80 turnpike versus others but was worth the money which is $20 cheaper that those closer hotels. This hotel is brand new, clean and very friendly. It's down closer to I 94 near the less nice hotels, but the area felt safe and the hotel offered cocktails or refreshments and munchies including fresh made popcorn. The morning breakfast consisted of hot and cold choices and was plenty to even fill up my husband's appetite. The rooms were clean and very nice and comfortable. We used the pool and the workout areas which were clean and had towels for your use. The front desk had menus and dining recommendations which were good. I would recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay outside of Chicago or on a long trip like we did.
