We stayed at this hotel for one night. At the time, we thought it was an okay hotel until we found out my husband and 9-year old son, who shared one bed, were both bitten by bed bugs!! My husband's legs were covered with bites!

Check your beds before you go to sleep. They come out at night!!

5 of 5  Excellent, A TripAdvisor Member, Tallahassee, Floirda, July 10, 2008

We stayed here one night on the way home from Orlando to visit some friends who live a couple of miles from the airport. All I have to say is, "Excellent' - very clean, very nice amentities, beautiful decor, nice service, very good continental breakfast, very nice pool/spa and the location to many things Tampa is also very nice. For an extended vacation I would probably recommend something else but if you're flying in/out of Tampa International, staying for business or just a couple nights to visit friends or family I highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms are very nice and comfortable with plenty of living space to sprawl out - a sleeper sofa, chair w/ ottoman and a good sized business desk with rolling office chair and high speed hook-up. Also included is a remote keyboard so you can do any computer work more comfortably - it also works on the TV's which there are two. The room has two very comfortable double beds with extra feather pillows and the linens were spotless and fresh. The mini bar and bath area were adorned in ceramic tile and nice dark wood cabinetry, very elegant looking. The only thing I would say that I would change would be to put in queen beds but I'm a bigger guy (6'0" - 260) and am used to sleeping with my wife in a king sized bed at home - so I kicked her over to the other bed and made the kids share the sleeper sofa. :-) Other than that a very, very nice and comfortable room and hotel overall.

5 of 5  Great experience!, A TripAdvisor Member, Orlando, Florida, December 10, 2007

This was our second stay at this hotel, and I loved it. Spacious rooms. Suite is small but looks exactly like the pictures. Pool was heated to a very nice temperature and hot tub was really hot! The room was newly decorated and extremely clean. Front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. Great location. Breakfast is good, but it is still a hotel quickie buffet. They do have a good selection, including sausages. The workout room consists of exactly what you see in the hotel picture, but really why are you staying here? I highly recommend this hotel!

5 of 5  Great Location and Great Price, A TripAdvisor Member, July 9, 2007

This is a wonderful hotel located very close to the airport. Huge rooms with two TVs, desk area with free, fast internet access, and bathroom with separate vanity area. Booked directly from hotel website for AAA proice of $89. Very nice staff, decent size pool and small but complete exercise room.

5 of 5  Very convenient, A TripAdvisor Member, Liverpool, January 2, 2007

Wanted somewhere reasonably priced and close to airport.

Perfect for us. Large, comfortable well maintained rooms. Complimentary high speed internet (wired) access. Quiet, efficient air-con. Small kitchen area. Complimentary breakfast was better than the basics we expected eg fresh fruit salad, make your own waffles etc.

Will happily use again.

5 of 5  Great economical hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, st. john's, November 21, 2006

I was blown away by what we got for what we paid. The room was very large and clean. Lovely shower and comfortable beds. The staff were VERY friendly and accomodating. It has a shuttle which will bring you back and forth to the airport. The airport is only a km or so away and it is very close to RJ stadium (5$ per head by cab). About a 20 dollar cab ride to Ybor and DT. Strip club right around the corner if you are into that and mall about 10 min walk. Complimentary breakfast was great! Hot and cold foods. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

5 of 5  Loved Spring Hill Suites, A TripAdvisor Member, New Windsor, NY, May 16, 2006

The hotel is above average and the service is Excellent. I was very pleased by the hospitality of Jorge Lugo, their Sales Director, who helped me with internet access and allowed me to charge my cell phone twice in his car. Jorge also offered to beat my Expedia rate if I call him next time.

THe suites are nice, living room, wet bar. The pool was fine. The workout room is small but I used it twice.

Location allows easy access to I-275 and the restaurants on Dale Mabrey.

I will definitely return every time I have business in Tampa.

5 of 5  The best Hotel in Tampa., A TripAdvisor Member, Florida, March 23, 2006

It's just the best hotel experience in Tampa. The room was spotless. The Breakfast in the morning was one of the best breakfast's I have tried on my business trips. Good hotel for Business travelers as well as families. The staff was great all around. The Internet connection in the rooms was excellent. The beds were super comfortable. The pool area was clean and the gym was a little bit small but with all the machines you need to work out. Again best hotel in Tampa period.

5 of 5  Best hotel in Tampa/Westshore area!, A TripAdvisor Member, New York, February 23, 2006

This is our third year staying at this hotel while in Tampa for Yankee spring training. It is by far the best hotel around the Westshore area in Tampa. It's literally 5 minutes away from the airport, close to the two malls, as well as Panera and Starbucks, and of course Legends Field and the football stadium. The room was kept spotless, the front desk personnel were friendly and professional, it's quiet at night, the rooms must be sound proof because we didn't hear anything beyond our room. The room is a decent size, a junior suite with plenty of room. The bed is more comfortable than the one I own at home, and there is a down comforter as the bed blanket. The couch isn't the most comfortable to sit on, but the chair with the ottoman was great. There is a big desk with a hook up to the internet for a laptop, which we used and can report no problems or service issues. The only picky thing if I was looking to pick on, may be the coffee, I think they may have changed their brand, or I got too used to Starbucks, but it wasn't the best coffee around town.

From check in to check out the Springhill Suites has once again, for the third year in a row, lived far beyond our expectations for a hotel.

5 of 5  Stay here, A TripAdvisor Member, Fort Dodge, Iowa, February 1, 2006

Clean, comfy, and good service. Good neighborhood and places to eat down the street. Will stay here again if in the area.

5 of 5  Great, Great, Great Hotel...., A TripAdvisor Member, Wellington, Florida, November 29, 2005

We went to Busch Gardens during the Thanksgiving weekend this year. We were 5 people so this hotel fit us perfectly. The hotel employees were friendly, the room was clean and big enough for the 5 of us.

Best part was the breakfast... What a variety!!! Great, great, great!!! It could be until 10 o'clock instead of 9...

We read reviews that mentioned that guests had forgotten things in the rooms and did not get them back. Well, guess what? We did forget a digital camera in the hotel and even though we got a little frustated because we couldn't talk to the person responsible for the "lost and found" during the weekend, they did find the camera. They sent it to us on the next Monday.

I highly recommend this hotel. It is a great deal!!!

5 of 5  Super Housekeeping Department, A TripAdvisor Member, Pennsylvania, November 10, 2005

We stayed at the Spring Hill Suites in Tampa, Florida from 11/2 to 11/5/05. It was a birthday gift to me from my son, and I can't tell you how thrilled I was. I have stayed at Marriott hotels before and have always been pleased. The housekeeping service was excellent. The room was spotless. Also, we required a special room for my disabled daughter, and the facilities were perfect. They even provided a special shower chair for her, and the bathroom had a large walk-in shower. The continental breakfast was very nice as well, but I wish they would extend the time until 10:00 a.m. The pool was large and the surroundings were clean and well-kept. Overall, it was a very relaxing weekend, and I certainly would stay there again.

5 of 5  Wonderful Staff - Great Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Florida, July 25, 2005

We stayed at the Springhill Suites in Tampa the weekend of July 22, 2005. The hotel was full. The staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. The only exception was the lady who ran breakfast. I believe she just isn't capable of a smile though. The room was clean. The cleaning staff was wonderful not only did she make the beds, clean the bath, etc..but she folded my sons clothes that had been left out. The breakfast items definetly were a plus for this hotel. It won't leave you hungry. This will now be my regular hotel in Tampa. It is about 5-10 minutes from attractions but that isn't bad. I reccomend Charley's if you are looking for a very nice restaurant to eat at while there.

5 of 5  Super Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Lancaster, PA, July 21, 2005

This hotel is fantastic. The rooms are comfortable, modern, and nicely decorated, as long as you don't expect a luxury hotel. The lobby and breakfast area are very nice. Breakfast is plentiful. There is a great variety of hot and cold food available. Only drawback is that the outside surroundings aren't that luxurious - just roads and parking lots. The view from all rooms would be a parking lot and miscellaneous buildings.

5 of 5  Great room with great rates and free breakfast, A TripAdvisor Member, London, July 5, 2005

One of cheapest hotels to stay in Tampa and also one of the best.

Whats good:

Large rooms. Very clean.

Excellent breakfast choice - if a little cramped.

Note more than 20 minutes from Busch Gardens and main Bay areas.

Friendly staff.

Tip:

Can't confirm this will all rooms, but the from what I have seen the sleeping and lounge areas are all open plan, so it's not quite a suite. Not ideal if you want the kids to sleep first!

Check with the hotel before booking.

5 of 5  Great hotel/Great breakfast, A TripAdvisor Member, lansing, mi, June 3, 2005

We got the last room at the hotel which shows how popular it is. Our room was very big and spotless. The location is excellent, right by two nice shopping malls. The complimentary breakfast is one of the best I've ever seen at a hotel. You could make your own waffles and they had omelettes as well. If we are ever in Tampa again we will stay here and I would recommend it to others as well.

5 of 5  Really impressed with Spinghill Suites, A TripAdvisor Member, statesville, nc, May 18, 2005

We just returned from a cruise to the W. Carribbean out of Tampa. We drove down the day before and had the pleasure of staying at the Springhill Suites. I researched hotels on this site and from other reviews, decided on Springhill. We were pleasantly surprised. It is a very clean and nicely appointed site. The complimentary breakfast was very good with a wide variety of food and plenty of seating. The lady at the desk on check-in was nice and helpful with directions to the port for the next day. We will definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.

5 of 5  Loved it as always, A TripAdvisor Member, New York, NY, April 6, 2005

We stayed at this hotel for a week and a half in mid-March for Yankees Spring Training. This is our second time staying in the Spring Hill Suites, and it is still the best hotel I've stayed in. It's located near everything from the airport, to the 2 malls, to Legends Field, and the highway entrance.

The suites are roomy, the beds are comfortable, and it is incredibly quiet. There was an instance of some annoying noise, and management was immediately in the hallway trying to identify where the sound was coming from. The front desk people were very pleasant and housekeeping people were very nice, and kept our room very clean. We are planning to stay there next year and for years to come.

We went to eat out for breakfast at Mom's Place (highly recommended as well) so I am unsure of how the breakfast was. But there were a lot of people sitting in the dining room eating, so I'm going to assume it was very good as well. Check in to Check out, great experience.

4 of 5  Close to airport, Very new/clean, A TripAdvisor Member, Crown Point, Indiana, May 29, 2008

Hotel was 5 minutes from the airport . The rooms had recently been remodeled & a great deal. My only complaint would be the air conditioning unit, it was right next to the bed & very loud when it went off, so loud that it woke us up. Service was very friendly. Also, there were 2 shopping centers w/in a 10 minute drive.

4 of 5  Great One Night Stay, A TripAdvisor Member, UK, April 30, 2008

Stayed with my wife on the night of 24th April. Effecient free bus from airport to hotel. Hotel nice, great twin Queen room, clean and well equiped. Hotel staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Greeted like old friends by reception, not the first timers we were. Great free bus back to the airport next morning to pick up my rental car. Overall we were very pleased. The free breakfast could have included bacon, but it was free and we really enjoyed what we had.

4 of 5  Enjoyable Stay, A TripAdvisor Member, Warren, MI, March 3, 2008

Nice property. Lobby was clean and attractive. Staff was very professional and accommodated me with an early check-in. Hotel is very large but was surprisingly quiet. Hallways were well lit with nice new carpeting. Room was a little small for a suite but was very clean with a comfortable bed. Linens were of high quality. Bathroom was very nice with granite counter tops. The shower had good water pressure with plenty of hot water. Internet connection was fast and free. Didn't sample the breakfast so can't comment on that.

4 of 5  Decent stay, A TripAdvisor Member, Manteno, IL, October 5, 2007

I always comment about my hotels and have to say I do not have anything bad to say about this place. The worst thing was the air conditioner. The beds were in a very cramped area with this window air conditioner. It was very loud and blew right on you. Rooms were clean. Pool had plenty of chairs and staff was friendly.

4 of 5  Nice place to stay in Tampa, A TripAdvisor Member, United States, September 22, 2007

I lived in Tampa for 32 years and when I go back for a visit finding a decent clean hotel for a moderate price is sometimes a challenge. A number of the hotels have been there since the 80s (the names have changed on some) & it shows. The Quorum (across from Springhill) was subpar with very "tired"rooms. The Sheraton (very close by) had rooms in bad need of updating & disgusting bathrooms. SpringHill was a nice surprise...rooms were a nice size & clean, the decor seems to be recent, & the bathrooms were extremely clean...no mold or black grout in the shower or on shower curtain as is found in so many hotels. The housekeeping staff on our floor were so nice & friendly. The complimentary breakfast in the lobby had many choices. It is in a great location...very close to the airport, 2 shopping malls, many bars & restaurants, Raymond James Stadium, Legends Field and to the major roadways taken to the beaches, Busch Gardens, Ybor City, and Orlando. This is an excellent place to stay for the price.

4 of 5  Decent Tampa airport hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, The World, May 17, 2007

The shared free shuttle showed up quickly to the airport to pick me as well a few others passengers up. After a quick 10 minutes ride, I arrived at the front-desk.

The lobby is fairly standard, space-saving fares which is to be expected at this level. The front-desk clerk was however much more cheery than the ones manning the Sheraton a few blocks away. Check-in was efficient and I was given the key card to my room. The room is a suite with 2 rooms: a living room with a sofa and a bedroom. The space here is a bit smaller than the Sheraton room and does not have the door separating the two rooms. If you need privacy between the rooms please take note. The AC box unit is right next to the bed and quite noisy so difficult sleeper may want to take note.

The bathroom is in the same room as the bedroom and took up a bit of space. The bathroom is about the same size as the one in the Sheraton which is not very spacious and you will have a hard time fitting 2 persons inside. The amenities are quite standard stuff.

The Westshore shopping center is about 2 blocks away (long blocks if you ask me).

The nicest things about this hotel is the service level is much friendlier than the Sheraton. So it garner a better vote from me.

4 of 5  very clean and friendly, A TripAdvisor Member, brussels, February 26, 2007

I stayed only two nights before leaving from tampa intl airport, so it was a good spot : close to the airport, the international plaza mall (great Hollister store). The room (king bed 2nd floor) was very clean, spacious and had a small kitchen area with a fridge and microwave. The booking trough marriott.com went also very smooth and they even gave me a discount I didn't get at Expedia

(little hint : you get also a back door entrance key when you check in, so very easy for your luggage, lots of parking spaces at the back)

4 of 5  Very nice and lots of extras for the price, A TripAdvisor Member, Stuart, Florida, November 26, 2006

We visited this hotel over Thanksgiving for 2 nights. The desk help was very friendly. We had a very nice room with 2 queen beds that are soooo comfortable, a separate living room with desk, micro, fridge, coffee pot, 2 tvs, and a large marble shower in the bathroom.

It was a very quiet stay, didn't hear any noise from adjoining rooms. The room was super clean and neat. The free internet was very helpful for us as we travel with our laptop. Also included is the breakfast which was very nice. It included eggs, sausage, waffles, toast, donuts, juice, cereal, oatmeal, etc. It was presented nicely.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet room with lots of amenities that aren't normally included in other hotels. I really couldn't believe how nice the room was compared to other similar hotels.

4 of 5  Very good experience, A TripAdvisor Member, Lawrenceville, NJ, November 25, 2006

Everything was clean, comfortable, and in good working order. The staff was friendly, and there was plenty of space to sit for breakfast. There is also plenty of parking within a short walking distance of a door.

This was my first stay at a SpringHill Suites, it was overall a very positive experience.

4 of 5  Classy Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Chicago, IL, October 27, 2006

We stayed at Springhill Suites the last day of our family vacation to Clearwater Beach. Manily so we would 1) have a day to enjoy some Tampa attractions and 2) be close to the airport on the day we leave.

We arrived well before check in time but we were able to get room right away. I asked if the pool was heated (since a cold front hit that day) and they mentioned it did but they weren't sure if it was heated yet this season (about an hour later I saw the manager checking out the pool to verify if it was heated).

In previous posts there was a mention of airplane noise due to the hotels proximity to the airport. I didn't find this to be a factor at all even when we were out at the pool, I do agree with previous posts that the box air conditiong was loud.

The hotel is about 2-3 blocks from the Westshore Mall (indoor mall) which has a Maggiano's & PF Changs but we strictly used the food court and the Movie Theater. There isn't much within walking distance. Just a bunch of other hotels (Best Western, Quorum, Marriott Suites..) and what appeared to be a strip club.

The complimentary breakfast looked pretty good but I just grabbed a few things on our way to catch our plane. The buffet had fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins, and a waffle iron.

The 2 TV sets in the room were definitely a plus. The kids can watch their shows as my wife and I were able to watch ours.

Overall a very pleasant experience.

4 of 5  Very Good Experience, A TripAdvisor Member, Connecticut, October 9, 2006

My wife and I stayed here over the Columbus Day weekend for two nights. The purpose of our trip was to attend a College Football game at Raymond James Stadium and see some of the sites.

Overall the experience was very good. The rooms were average size, the term suite is a little misleading, but it was nice to have a small refrigerator and a microwave. Similar to other reviewers, the air conditioning system was a little loud and went off and on frequently. It didn’t bother us too much, but if you are a light sleeper it could be an issue. The rooms and common space were very clean and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The outdoor pool was clean and quiet.

The breakfast was excellent and included a wide assortment of fruit, bagels, muffins, cereal doughnuts, waffles, and hot eggs and sausage. Much more than the “Continental” breakfast included at some hotels, but a step below what you’d see at an Embassy Suites.

The location was very good as well. We were about a 5-10 min ride from the airport, 5-10 min ride to Raymond James and 5 min from the International Plaza. We rented a car because we wanted to tailgate at the game and drive to the beach, but some friends of our utilized the hotel shuttle to go around the area and didn’t have any complaints.

If you’re looking for a lower price hotel that offers good value (free parking, breakfast, and internet access) in the Westshore area this place works

4 of 5  A nice hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Halifax, NS, May 23, 2006

We spent two nights at the Springhill Suites on W. Cypress St. in Tampa. The rooms were very pleasing and well kept. A breakfast buffett was included in the morning and it had lots of choice. Pool area was enjoyable for relaxing.

There was noise from planes taking off and landing at the Tampa airport so would recommend a room towards the back of the hotel if this bothers you.

Would definitely stay there again.

4 of 5  Great Place, A TripAdvisor Member, Merseyside, December 30, 2005

Booked in after 10hr UK flight...shuttle easy to arrange from airport.Clean comfortable room...comfy beds..staff very helpful. We booked 2 nights prior to cruise. the breakfast was excellent..too much by english standards!! Close to Westshore Mall for last minute shopping..although cabs appear in short supply??

4 of 5  Good value, accommodating staff. Would stay again, A TripAdvisor Member, Raleigh, November 19, 2005

LOCATION:

Westshore Blvd. and Cypress – about an $11-dollar cab ride from the airport. We were at the hotel door in less than 10 minutes. The area doesn’t have any stand-alone restaurants that don’t seem attached to a hotel. Its about a 20-minute $7 shuttle to the cruise-ship ports and the Tampa Aquarium that’s adjacent. A Marriott full-service hotel is across the street, it has a sports bar and a not-so formal dining room with expensive entrées.

ROOM:

Clean. Paid $85 for a Sunday night.

The large “suite”-- at least our 5th floor room -- was really an extended room split by a half wall into the bedroom/roomy bathroom/closet in one part and sitting room with a couch, nice lounge chair, desk and adjustable office chair. If you are traveling with kids or unrelated adults, suggest you check for a different configuration. If you are a business traveler, you will appreciate that desk chair since most hotels give you a chair too low for the desk. This “front” room has the kitchen sink, microwave, and small fridge. That area is off to the side so it’s not in the way. The cabinets had disposable paper-plates and plastic knives/forks, etc. And, the coffee/tea pot and cups. TV in each section. Windows open, and it has an ac unit under the window that was pretty quite. I slept well.

THE BEDS:

Two extremely-comfortable queen-size beds with down comforter under the bedspread. The pillows, WOW! the best ever. I even took off the cases to look for a manufacturer. Suspect they came from the Company Store. I’m calling them to find out where I can get one.

STAFF, POOL, BREAKFAST:

Very accommodating staff. We were there with a contingent of 100 people with a ton of luggage. Always smiles and helpful and they had direction sheets to various places. Pool is typical with nice a few umbrella tables, chairs and lounge chairs. A hot tub to the side. We arrived two hours earlier than check in and they gave us a key-pass to the pool area and put our luggage in a holding area.

BREAKFAST:

Didn’t have time, but looked like plentiful selections. Could smell the waffles.

AIRPORT CAR-RENTAL Alert:

As carefully as we thought we had figured out how to get to Westshore Blvd, we left out of the airport and onto and expressway and in no time found ourselves on a 14-mile causeway going north across the Bay. After a turnaround and another 14-mile trip, we still made a wrong turn going trying to get to Westshore. A lot of construction and we had to go up a ramp that really looked closed. You can see the Marriot Hotel from the Airport. Try to keep it and the Quorum Hotel as you get closer in your site. Your return to the airport is a lot simpler. The hotel has a direction sheet.

OFF THE BEATEN PATH:

We drove along the Bayshore Rd and in and out of streets the run perpendicular to the city. Historic area about 15 minutes from downtown. There are restaurants along Howard St. But, for dinner, we road back into the city going north past the Ports and into Ybor City to the 100 yr old. Columbia Restaurant. Cuban/Spanish food was good as was the service. Although it’s a tourist place, it still had a feel of a local restaurant. Price range $16-25. Paella was very generous and good.

4 of 5  Very Nice Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Miami, August 12, 2005

This was the second year in a row I stayed here while taking my son back to college. Hotel is relatively new, clean, quiet and well maintained. Beds comfortable and rooms are spacious. Small kitchenette is nice touch. However the coffee maker wouldn't work properly. Free breakfast is ok but this year they did not offer the prepackaged pastries that were delicious from last year. Hotel is conveniently located near the airport and close to all freeways and malls. I certainly would stay here again.

4 of 5  Nice hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Littleton, Massachusetts, March 16, 2005

Just returned from a two night stay at this property. It was very clean and comfortable. Convenient to airport and major highways. Staff was friendly. There were several restaurants, a gas station, and convenience store nearby. Would definately recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

4 of 5  Nice Accommodations before a cruise, A TripAdvisor Member, November 10, 2004

My family and I stayed at this hotel for one evening before embarking on a cruise out of Tampa. The hotel was clean, beds comfortable and the rooms were spacious, since there were four adults per room. Front desk attendants were friendly and helpful because our luggage did not come in with our flight and they allowed us a late checkout until our luggage arrived. Breakfast was simple but satisfying. Pool area looked clean and well kept. It appeared to be used happily by many guests. All in all, a nice place, good rates, and we would definitely stay here again!

4 of 5  great place to stay, centrally located, A TripAdvisor Member, Florida, October 8, 2004

I stayed here during one of the hurricanes. The room was spacious and the microwave/fridge/sink area was great because we were travelling with kids. The power went out the next morning, but the staff did all they could to make our stay comfortable. They put out as many breakfast items as possible, still delivered towels and toiletries to our room, and allowed us to check out late in the evening (we found another hotel with power) without charging us for that night's stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

4 of 5  Well appointed but the breakfast is poor, A TripAdvisor Member, May 20, 2004

I stayed at this hotel twice in the past couple of weeks, and it is a very nice place overall. It is quiet, well appointed, and convenient to the airport. A marble tub'shower is a nice touch tool. The front desk staff is unusually friendly and the housecleaning staff is nice as well. All in all a very nice place to stay. Two TV's is a little overkill, but nice. A comfortable couch, standard small fridge, microwave, and hair drier complete the extras. But, on the negatives...the breakfast was mediocre at best. Average doughnuts, some bagels, and a very limited fruits supply support a do-it-yourself waffle iron. This does not hold a candle to the Embassy Suites or the sheraton suites a block away. I was also surprised that although they have pay-per-view movies, there are no adult titles.

3 of 5  Noisy Airconditioner!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Orlando, November 4, 2007

The hotel was fine, room ok, but seemed cramped. The airconditioner was too noisy, kept waking me up, didn't sleep well at all. The breakfast was below average, plastic plates and cups, and always overcrowded. Location was good, and service was attentive.

3 of 5  OK for 1 or 2 nights, A TripAdvisor Member, Houston, October 24, 2007

I stayed here for one night in October 2007 - chose the hotel based on its close proximity to my meeting site the next morning. Also it is very close to the Tampa airport. The room was very small but quite adequate for one person. TV with normal cable channels, good internet access. Lobby had drinks and snacks available. Breakfast in the morning was a nice surprise, more choice than I expected, with eggs and sausage and waffles as well as cold cereal and fruit. Staff friendly. The room was reasonably clean, the shower hot and the towels fluffy. The only thing I would really say is negative is that there is a strip-club just around the corner, so lots of traffic in the area. Plenty of parking out front.

The area has lots of good shopping nearby. And for your rental car - the gas station is right next door!

3 of 5  A decent place to stay, A TripAdvisor Member, Suffield, Connecticut, April 3, 2007

Hotel location is convenient to Tampa airport and close to the landing path which is great if you like to hear and see airplanes. We rented a suite to accommodate our adult son and ourselves. The suite was just a big room with nearly no separation between the king size bed and the pull out couch where he slept. Do not expect privacy if you rent a suite for more than a couple. The bed was comfortable with many pillows which did not smell bad. The room has some left over pretzels from previous guests on the floor. The bathroom was OK. Front desk was nice even when we arrive after 10:30 PM. The breakfast offered many choices and had plenty to satisfy the hungry traveler. Not a bad hotel but the suite was not worth the $200.00 we paid.

3 of 5  Totally average, A TripAdvisor Member, Huber Heights, Ohio, September 1, 2006

A typical Marriott property with complimentary breakfast and free local phone calls, free WiFi, but no free computer so bring your own.

Expecting to share a rental car with a collegue already in town, we called for the shuttle from the airport baggage claim with a statement that it would be "a few minutes" before we got our bags. It was quick - about 3 minutes - and we headed out to the curb. After a 30 minute wait (not knowing how far away the hotel was) we gave up and rented our own car. It took about 7 minutes to get to the hotel. The clerk was mildly surprised that the shuttle never arrived but seemed not to care, stating that he dropped off some guests shortly after I called (we must have just missed it) saying "I usually tell people to call back after they get their luggage." Result: poor first impression. There's one shuttle that services the Springhill Suites, Courtyard, and Marriot hotels in the area and you have to reserve it (doesn't run on a schedule) so when going back to the airport, allow some extra time for the additional stops.

Housekeeping lacked attention to detail. Towels and shampoo missing upon check-in but were replenished with a phone call.

All in all, okay, but some disappointments for a Marriott. Next trip, I'll try elsewhere.

This is a relatively new hotel and is in a good location if you need to be near the airport or the Westport mall. The bathrooms feature marble vanitys and showers. The facuets are modern and work well. As noted from the other reviews the bed and sheets are very comfortable. I was surprised to see a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and wetbar in the room. The free breakfast and internet are a plus athough the internet is very slow. The main drawback to this hotel is the airconditioning. I am not sure why a new hotel doesn't have central air, instead it is a unit under the window which is noisy. The unit does not run continuously but rather turns off and on depending on the temperature you set. If you are a light sleeper the motor noise can be a bother inaddition the unit in my room was exactly 3 feet from the bed. I spent most of the night with the covers over my head to avoid the draft. There is no way to redirect the blowing of the a/c. I woke with a sore throat and was not rested. Maybe other rooms are different but I will not take the chance again in the future. This is too bad since the rate I paid is a steal for Tampa. If you do decide to stay here request a room away from the elevator since you can hear the buzz in your room everytime the elevator doors open. This hotel chain appears to be on a level of a Homewood Suites but is defenitely a notch below.

We stayed one night before our flight out of Tampa. Good location, amenities and continental breakfast. But we found the hotel nosiy both inside and out.

3 of 5  good hotel...bad breakfast lady!, A TripAdvisor Member, Ft. Walton Beach, FL, August 12, 2004

Pretty nice hotel. Very Convenient. My only complaint is with the breakfast lady. One of the best things about the hotel is the complimentary breakfast that is served (including belgian waffles, yogourt, fruit, etc.). However, the lady that does the breakfast is very mean (even the hotel staff refer to her as the "breakfast nazi"). If your not there within the designated timeframe for breakfast, the nazi wont let you have any leftovers (one patron complained that the nazi snatched back her apple juice). It just kind of ------ me off to begin the day with a mean breakfast lady.

It was a pretty decent hotel. We liked the setup with the couch, chair and two televisions. It worked out great because my husband and daughter like to watch different things. The room was clean, but could use some dusting and a paint job. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay at this hotel again.

2 of 5  Not sure what all the rave reviews are about......, A TripAdvisor Member, Minneapolis, MN, March 27, 2006

This is NOT that great of a hotel. I checked in at 1130pm and the front desk person was a little snooty which is rare these days at Marriott chains.

The hotel looks quite new from the outside but is a little worn inside. In my room the carpet was a little dirty, there was hair in the sink and LOTS of hair and dirt in the shower.

It also appeared (from the wrinkly sheets and several hairs) that the sheets had not been changed since the last person.

The shower's upside was that it was HUGE but no tub for those trvaelling with kids (not sure if this is the case with all the rooms).

The breakfast was good and run VERY well. Kudos on that.

Compared to other similar hotels in the area (especially across the bridge in Clearwater) this hotel simply does NOT stack up.

2 of 5  Don't Leave Anything Behind!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Florida, March 20, 2005

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in November 2004.

It is a very pretty hotel, with a warm welcoming fireplace in the foyer and a substantial free breakfast buffet, each morning. The long corridors are wood pannelled to the waist on some floors and all are nicely decorated, for a hotel.

Our only problem was that when we left the hotel, I forgot my jacket, leaving it behind in our room and when we later called the hotel to let them know I'd left something behind we waited two days for them to return our call, only to be told that no items were found left in our room. The caller didn't even seem entirely aware which room we'd stayed in and on which day we'd left. It was a lovely long length black leather jacket and I can only surmise as to what happened to it.

This incident quite ruined our experience of this hotel.

1 of 5  Bed Bugs, A TripAdvisor Member, miami FL, April 3, 2007

I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend for a weekend. The hotel is conveniently located, rooms have a decent size and an ok view. Our room was 1113, overlooking the office building across and the water on the other side. The staff was friendly but we did not find shampoo or conditioner in our room. They do not have a minibar or refrigerator. When I got home I found bites in my back, abdomen and legs. When I look at the reviews I found a review complaining of the same bites..conclusion the rooms have BED BUGS. The hotel is not worth the price unless you want to take home some bugs.

1 of 5  Be careful!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Edmonton, February 19, 2007

We stayed at this hotel for one night. At the time, we thought it was an okay hotel until we found out my husband and 9-year old son, who shared one bed, were both bitten by bed bugs!! My husband's legs were covered with bites!

Check your beds before you go to sleep. They come out at night!!

1 of 5  Never forget anything there!, A TripAdvisor Member, NJ, August 15, 2005

OKay, a group of students from my school stayed there for a science trip. We stayed there for 2 days and it was okay. The first day we just chilled out in the hotel and the pool was kind of gross. Anyway, the day we left I forgot a pair of shoes there. They were a nice pair of sneakers that aren't sold anywhere anymore. So I called and they said they would return my call as soon as possible, so I got a call three days later and they confused me with my friend that I was staying with that had also left something. I told her that I wasn't her and she told me that they didn't find anything in our room. Not my shoes or the battery that my friend lost. That ruined my whole experience there.
