We've traveled to Park City for the past 20 years and have stayed all around town. A few years ago we connected up with Paul who owns Staypc.com His company manages vacation rentals around Park City. This year we decided to stay at Marriott's Mountainside. We figured we might as well check with Paul to see if he knew of any deals for the Marriotts in town. Sure enough he had a 2 bedrom villa available. We ended up saving over $1,900! Oh, and I forgot to mention, Paul and his brother Dan own Cold Stone at Redstone, so if you're lucky they'll bring by some Free Ice Cream for you during your stay. This is sort of in response to "outacali" who wrote in June of '08. Your stay sounds disatrous, and I feel so bad for you. You really somehow managed to stay just at the wrong time. When we were there in Feb '09 we also had one of the top floor rooms with no one above us and that was really nice. Being an owner, we rotate the view every year, so this year we looked out over the "town". It was quite nice. I cannot imagine experiencing what you did with all the unruly kids being allowed to ruin my vacation. We always go during ski season and of course there are many many children there at that time also. But we have never encountered any children so disruptive as what you encountered. For anyone thinking about going to Mountainside during ski season, be confident that you will most likely not have a bad time due to wild children running around. And as for the hot tubs, yes there will be children in them especially from about 4pm till 7 or 8pm, but if you want adult time in the hot tub, wait til about 9pm, then it's usually not a problem. And if you really want adult time in the hot tub, get up early, or even not so early, and use the hot tubs during the morning hours, and they are all yours. Morning in the hot tub is really relaxing if you aren't one of those who just has to be on the slopes the minute they open. Very few people use the pool or the hot tubs that time of day. My husband will swim laps in the pool then, and we have chosen that time to get in the hot tubs when it was snowing. As for the buses, they are great, and free. Sometimes we would hop on just to see where it went, and hop off if it went past something interesting. I think we could get by without a rental car actually, because the bus does go by the grocery store, as mentioned by others. You just couldn't buy as much at one time. And it goes without saying that the location of Mountainside is superior, being ski-in ski-out, and also so close to many other ski areas. You can take the bus to several other places to ski, Deer Valley being our favorite. (no snow boarders there) We did have one negative thing about our condo this past February, and that was a constant sound of water making a jerky sound in the pipes, like turning on and off. Never could figure out what it was, and even after reporting it nothing was done or could be done. We have not had that before in other units, so it might have just been something about the plumbing in that area?? It was not a "deal breaker" just annoying at times. All the good things outweighed that one thing. The gym was very nice, we used it several times, mostly the eliptical and the treadmill. Many good places to eat very close by, either by walking or a free bus ride away if you choose not to get a rental car. This place is great! The rooms are spacious and had everything we needed - small kitchen, nice sized dining area, nice furniture. Everything was in good shape and very clean, though housekeeping doesn't make daily rounds since it's a timeshare, so expect to do your own cleaning unless you want to pay a hefty fee for extra housecleaning. The best part of the stay was the pool area- there are 6 hot tubs, many with small waterfalls flowing in to them from other pools and a simulated cliff above. Varying levels of heat from tub to tub. Plenty of room in the tubs. The pool (heated, outdoor) was too cold for anyone to stay in it for long (at least in October). We were there for a mountain biking vacation in early October. We could take our bikes up the chairlift just steps from the Mountainside. Also, the summer activities such as the alpine slide, alpine coaster, merry-go-round, trampolines, climbing wall, etc, we set up near the base of the lift. Very handy to guests at the Mountainside! However, these were being dissembled for the winter in early Oct when we were there, so if you want to go on these rides, be sure to go a little earlier in the season. There were a few flurries especially up high on the mid-mountain trail in early October. Underground parking was nice though sometimes full. Bike storage was not secure enough for multi-thousand dollar bikes - anyone could climb over the gate and get into the storage area, and there was no tag or anything to prove you were owner of the bike when you went to get it out. Restaurants in the courtyard near the hotel were pretty good - we liked the nearby Mexican restaurant. Ask for coupons from the concierge - she gave us a great buy-one-entree-get-one free which could be used at many restaurants in Old Town. Not much nightlife in the area, at least in October. The kids club was great - lots of free or inexpensive activities for children. My toddler liked the toys and beanbag chairs. Overall, we loved it and would definately come back for another stay in any season! This Marriott came through as expected. We had plenty of space in the 2-bed/bath unit with full kitchen. We love how everything is right there within walking distance - the slopes, the ski check on the first floor by the gym, restaurants and a large heated pool and six jacuzzis. We had such a fun time. One of the highlights was riding the horse-drawn sled up the mountain with "Snowed Inn" to dinner. It was a bit pricey but we knew we were paying for the experience, not just a meal. Russell at the front desk was very accomodating and helpful and Luciane at the concierge desk was a kick to speak with - very helpful and friendly. We had so much fun at Gorgoza Park, a place for tubing with the kids. We also went snowmobiling and of course skiing. Take note - the ski school fills up fast so book ahead. We were lucky to squeeze our kids into one day of school each when there were a couple cancellations. Well worth the money. The only bummer was that the hotel had recently outsourced the cleaning crew and some things were not up to par when we arrived; however, upon learning of this Chandra and her crew in housekeeping came in and gave our room a thorough cleaning to our satisfaction. Service excellente! First let my start by saying that I am a Marriott owner who traded my Palm Desert one bedroom to stay here the week of March 9-16th. We just got back last night and after reading the last few messages I felt that I had to share our experience. My wife and I were traveling with our two daughters ages 8 and 9. To say we were completely satisfied is an understatement. I would have to say it was one of our best vacations we have ever had. We had originally been given a one bedroom but the day before we arrived we got a call from the hotel and they offered us a two bedroom which we took. When people write in about the views they are right in which unless you are an owner you are not going to get a view of the slopes. Like most timeshares the owners are going to get the best rooms regardless of how much you paid per night to stay there. So if you are going off of a website and paying alot of money to stay there you are not going to get a view of the slopes unless you are a Park City owner. The rooms are your standard Marriott rooms...not alot of flash but adequate. it seemed like our room had just been refurnished in the last couple of years. We stayed on the third floor right above the members lounge so the location for us it was perfect because it allowed our kids to go down to the childrens center whenever they wanted. As for location on the slopes it is right on Payday lift so coming and going is perfect. For us we would go out on the slopes at 9:00 and return at 12:00 for lunch each day and spend an hour in the room and be back out at 1:00 and ski until 4:00. It would take us about one hour to take off our skis go in and grab lunch take a break and then get back out on the slopes. By doing this I figure it saved us at least $30-$40 per day in lunches. We also requested a slow cooker the first day we were there and was able to make different meals throughout the week. The hotel has 5 hot tubs that get pretty croweded at around 4:00 each day as everyone comes off the slopes. For dinners we went into Park City and ate at Bandits and the Hungry Moose Lodge. Food was decent and a family of four was about 70.00 including drinks and tips. My daughters favorite spot was Cows Ice cream parlor. You can take the free bus from PCMR. For groceries we had a car and went to Albertsons but if you do not have a car the bus system does make a stop at Albertsons. Having stayed at different Marriotts throughtout the world we know the drill as to what to expect and this Marriott definately exceeded our expectations. I know that every traveler has different expectations when they are paying up to $500.00 per night so as you read the different messages take that into account but for our family it was a GREAT ski vacation. The week we were here we got 16 inches of snow and the skiing was great. No lift lines until Saturday of our trip. We had bought the 5 out of 7 day pass which gave us Fast Tracks which we did not need until Saturday but I am glad we bought them. So as you read the messages about the hotel read each of them with an open mind. Family (2 adults + teen) stayed here just after Sundance ended. They gave us great room overlooking Payday lift over pool, in a 1 BR, which was perfect size. Room was clean, bed very comfortable, soaking tub great, kitchen big and stocked, quiet. Had never stayed here before, but it made our ski trip memorable. And it snowed three feet in 2 days. Easy to get to Main Street. Staff was wonderful. Location superb. What's not to like? I always stay at ski in/out resorts for snowboarding trips and this resort was one of my favorites. We traded for a week in the two-bedroom villa and could not have been more satisfied with the resort. The ski valet is located next to the Payday lift, which is directly in the heart of the resort. The snow was unbelievable. I boarded six of the seven days at both the Canyons and Park City slopes. The public transportation system was very convenient and a great way to access the restaurants located in downtown Park City. I recommend Shabu, which is a bit pricey but definitely a very good meal. It's possible to get around without a rental car but it would have made things easier transporting groceries back to the villa. Everyone can't wait to get back for another trip. I definitely recommend this resort to anyone staying in Park City. This is the most convenient place, right next to the main high-speed lift. The rooms are large and attractive and the kitchens well-stocked. You save a lot of money by being able to cook some of your own meals, even going home for lunch, if you want to! They also have nice get-togethers, family outings, art projects, pool table, etc-- so it feels like a real resort not just a random condo. It's great to sit in the hot tubs and heated outdoor pool and watch the snow fall and the late-day skiers still on the mountain... My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Marriott Mountainside in Park City for a week in July 2007. We had one of the best vacations we have ever had. The location was excellent. Right outside the door are all of the best activities for kids. The alpine slide, coaster, zipline. maze, miniature golf, bicycling and horseback riding are steps away. Also, Main Street is within walking distance and a free bus service to anywhere in Park City is very close by. We stayed in a one bedroom villa that was clean and well-maintained. The view wasn't great but we didn't request a room with a view and it really didn't bother us. The only problem we had with the room was that the bed linens were somewhat old and noticeably worn but they were clean as was the rest of the room. The staff was friendly and helpful and the pool was nice. They had several very nice grills for use in the pool area. The fitness area was very nice with great equipment. We enjoyed being able to cook in the room when we didn't want to go ou to eat and the kitchen was well furnished. We are thinking of returning to Park City next summer since it was such a beautiful area with many activities. If we do return, we will most likely stay at the Marriott Mountainside. Summer is a great time to visit Park City, Utah. This location is known for the winter skiing but summer can be just as great as well. Marriott's Mountainside is a timeshare property but can be rented for the week. This is a 4 star hotel with kitchens. We had a 2 bedroom suite, 4 adults and 2 kids. Eating out is expensive in Park City, so we ate in out own kitchen most of the time. The free public transit system kept us car free for the week. You can hike the ski resort and ride down the chairlift for free or you can pay to ride up and walk down. Mountain bikes are rented and many trails down the mountain are provided. The resort has 6 outdoor hot tubs with a large swimming pool. The town of Park City is worth the trip, it is beautiful and the downtown full of shops. The outlet mall is 5 miles away for the shopaholic. There lots of things to do with the family for a week in Park City and because of the altitude you have fun in a cooler, drier climate. We had a great time hope you do too! We came as summer season was just starting. Swimming pool was full of kids, but otherwise the place was quite quiet. A good time of year to come - the city is quite quiet and the highways around were almost empty. We explored the mountains within 2 hours all around, and had a great time. Hiking in the Unitas was excellent. The area around hotel was under construction and few of the stores nearby were open, but the Mexican restaurant nearby was very good. The Old part of Main street is fun to walk through. There are good biking trails surrounding the city. This hotel was excellent with modern features and great staff. Just wish people had more knowledge about biking trails on top of mountain. For good service regarding hikes and rentals, go to White Pine Touring in city center. Adolf's was a good Swiss restaurant. Expect to pay $50 each. A bit noisy due to open lounge nearby. Again - come here in June, if you like the outdoors. Stayed here from March 11-15th. Friendly and helpful staff. They found out I was celebrating my birthday and they sent up a nice basket of goodies. Housekeeping arrived before noon every day because we came back for lunch. Nice 2 bedroom villa. Kitchen fully staffed with appliances, dishes, etc. Hot tub and pool available. Fitness room with free weights, weight machines, lifecycles, treadmills, etc. Daily activities planned for kids and adults if you want to participate. Can't beat the location for ski in and ski out. Only complaint I have is some parents let their kids run up and down the hallways screaming or playing elevator tag. That is not the hotels fault, that is the parent's fault. I have kids as well but I don't allow that type of behavior, it is disrepectful of the other guests. One Word, WOW! I took the wife and 2 kids, ages 7 and 10 to this oasis on the mountainside. I will start out with the bad(or more appropriately inconvenient). We arrived in Park City on 1/13/07, but our stay did not commence until the 14th. We shared a friends condo for the night of the 13th. We skied all day on the 14th and at 4:30 PM we went to check in, and we were told our room was not ready, and they were not sure when it would be ready. They took our phone number and said that they would call when our room was ready. We returned to our friends condo and waited for the call that the room was ready and the call never came. We returned to the hotel at around 7:30PM and checked in without a hassle. No phone call, but oh well.. With all that being said, do not count on getting in to your room at 4. Make plans to go to dinner and come back later in the evening OR check in with the front desk early in the day to plead your case. Aside from the check in , this was the most pleasant stay I have ever had at a hotel or resort. GOOD THINGS CAME TO THOSE WHO WAITED! The hotel is gorgeous, very clean and the staff was very helpful. We stayed in the 2 bdrm villa, and the view was out of sight. We slept 6 people comfortably, and there was room to spare. The kitchen was fully stocked w/ cooking equipment, and the hotel even provided additional cooking items like crock pots and waffle makers on request. The beds were comfy, and the bathroom spacious, and there was even a mud room. We were on the 8th floor and never waited more than 1 minute for and elevator. The first day housekeeping ended up getting to our room at 5PM, so we had them skip servicing our room, but they restocked us with supplies anyway. The next day, we called housekeeping and asked for them to send the cleaning crew up early, and they arrived mid morning, which was great. As for amenitys, the ski valet was handy, and the resort offered all kinds of kid activiites and programs to choose from. The 5 hot tubs and pool were fantastic, and the staff even helped us grill out at 2 below zero one night. Access to the lifts could not have been more convenient, just go out the gate past the hot tubs and slide down to one of the lifts. I am already planning a return trip, to this wonderful resort. Let me give you my background about the kind of people we are so you can appreciate this or disapprove. We are Dennys once in a while Old navy loveing, Mini Van driving, 4 kids everywhere kind of family. We seldom have time to be away. The wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time! The place was (to us) 5 stars. VERY quiet, Very clean. Nice suite. Everything was within walking distance. We were staying during off season, no skiing, no summer parties. SO it was quiet and things were laid back. Beautiful hotel with a great staff. We didnt need much from them, our room had all the comforts, fireplace kitchenette, jacuzzi etc. Again NICE no complaints. You wont be disappointed...unless your a grey poupon RITZ Carlton kind of person...you may find something not up to snuff. :) We stayed at here during the Triple Crown World Series Softball Tournament and enjoyed every minute of it. There is a lot to do for the kids and is not too far from downtown Park City. We loved it! We went to Park City over Thanksgiving, my Son snowboards, hardly any snow but they were man making it. He got in 3 days of boading. The hotel was great, kinda pricey but we had a blast, we rented a 1 bedroom villa, large bedroom, wonderful kitchen and all the appliances were included and dishes. fireplace, 2 huge TV"s. we were very comfortable there. Get a Albertson's card so you can eat in. Buy your own coffee, they do not furnish any. The restaurants are pricey. The resort stores were fun to shop in and the town is 2 miles away so everything is convienent. We loved it and would rent there again. The next time I think I would try and rent from a time share person. Our view was a view of buildings so I would like a mountain view next time. The lift is so close, this is well worth the stay. This place is very clean with comfy master bed. couch was lumpy, my Son hated the fold out couch bed. stayed here 1/10-1/13/04. very convenient to the slopes and downtown. the staff were very helpful. free ski check. nice pool/hot tub area, workout area with weight machines, game room with pool tables. will definitely stay here again. Pros: My husband, son and I stayed in a spacious 2 bedroom villa for a week and were thrilled with all room we had. The main room had shower and a huge tub outside the bathroom. There was plenty of storage with the cabinets below the sinks, closet in the bedroom and and additional closet in the livingroom. We also had our own washer and dryer, fully stocked kitchen, large dining table with bench and chairs, 2 large flat screen tvs and a gas fireplace. Wireless internet was free. My son's room had it's own bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, sink, closet, loveseat and a flat screen tv (that makes 3 total!). He loved having his own space. Cons: All of the spas were broken the whole time we were there except for the very last day. The air conditioner unit made a loud rattling noise, my son's toilet was clogged, the handle on our bathroom door fell off and the livingroom remote didn't work. However, someone came to fix all of these things as soon as I called. Two of the burners on the stove didn't work, but I asked them to wait to fix them until after we left. The hotel was really quiet when we got there, but it got loud during our last night and our view was not very good. This was a time share exchange in July 2008 for one week. We were two couples sharing and were absolutely delighted with our two bedroom apartment. We were on the third floor at the rear of the building, but it would be churlish to comment on the lack of view. This was one of the most comfortable and well equipped apartments we have ever exchanged into. The accommodation consisted of two separate rooms, the larger of which had an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area together with one bedroom and ensuite. The ensuite not only had a spacious shower, toilet and sink but there was also two further sinks and a very large bath within the bedroom area. There was plenty of storage space and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have very slept in. The lounge had a very comfortable sofa and two arm chairs together with a large flat screen TV (there was also TVs in both the bedrooms). The kitchen was well equipped and had a kettle (kettles are not always available in the US and we often have to boil water for a cuppa in a saucepan so we considered this a BONUS). The second bedroom was a lock-off having its own sofa and kitchenette as well as an ensuite bathroom, it could also be entered through its own entrance door as well as through a connecting door from the lounge area. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and we were able to change travellers cheques at the main reception desk and the concierge recommended trips and even supplied a map . There is a small store in the building which is useful for very basic groceries. The main grocery store was Albertsons which was more than adequate and was only a few minutes drive from the hotel. We found eating out in Park City more expensive than other places we have visited in the US. We ate three times as Zoom, which is situated at the bottom of Main Street. The food was wonderful although pricey. We also ate once at an Italian restaurant about half way down Main Street (can’t remember the name) also extremely good but again pricey. No visit to Main Street would be complete without dropping into the No Name Saloon. Not sure what it would be like in the evening but certainly a great place for a lunchtime beverage and at least a portion of French fries. I loved the sign by the front door which read “No firearms beyond this point”!!!!! A trip on the ski lift just outside the hotel was not for the faint hearted. It felt like we were a long way off the ground but I suspect we were just being wimps. At one point the lift stopped completely and I noticed we were positioned over a ski run called “The Widow Maker”!!! There are also a couple of scary rides for the more adventurous including a zip line. We could hear the screams from our vantage point on the ski lift!!! We took a couple of side trips out of Park City, including a day in Salt Lake City visiting Temple Square and a trip up to Mirror Lake. I would recommend both of these trips. Temple Square was fascinating especially as both my husband and I have been tracing our family trees for many years. We also loved the Beehive House and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The trip to Mirror Lake was lovely and included a smashing waterfall and we were able to take a great photo of a large bull moose which was feeding by the side of the road. Word of warning there are a lot of mosquitoes around Mirror Lake so take the Deet!!!! We did not use the swimming pool or any of the other facilities in the hotel. The only negative comments I can make is that we did not have a room with a view and the car park seemed to fill up very quickly and we had to use the off site parking (only a short walk away) when we returned from our evenings out on Main Street. We are currently at the Marriott Mountainside for Thanksgiving week and I just had to write a review to complement the staff at this resort. Every staff member I came in contact with was pleasant, helpful, nice and just very very welcoming. I have stayed at many resorts and the staff here were the nicest and most helpful I have ever come across. The resort itself is nice but the great thing about it is the location to the Park City resort. We have been here twice now and each time just really had a great time. We plan to come back soon. This hotel is right next to a ski lift and a multitude of restaurants. The gym was being updated, but they gave us passes to go to the gym at another Marriott 2-3 minutes away. If you have children, they will love this hotel! There are a large number of activities for kids of all ages. The staff were phenomenal in giving us suggestions on how to plan our day and had shuttles to other places to ski. Our family has stayed at this property the past four Xmas vacations. The location, at the base of the PayDay lift at Park City Mountain Resort, is outstanding. We have rented the two bedroom suite, which has a private master with king bed and bath, a kitchen/dining/living area and another bedroom with king bed and bath. The quality of the construction is average. The furnishings and finishes are above-average but not luxury. There was a fireplace in the living area, a tv and dvd. The two bedrooms each have tv's and dvd players. The second bedroom can be locked off and becomes a studio. It has a min-fridge and microwave. The other master bedroom can be rented as a small apartment, with the attached kitchen and living space. It has a washer/dryer, which is great since most people travel with families and the stays tend to be for 5-7 days. There are several restaurants within a two minute walk of the property. The hotel does not have food or beverage service but this is not an issue. The hotel is part of the Park City Mountain Resort. The property has a great pool area and lots of hot tubs. There is also a well-equipped gym. The staff is friendly but you may need to do some things yourself. For example, there aren't enough bellman and we have carted up our own luggage each time we visited. There are extra carts at the entrance. The prices are not cheap, but are not expensive when you consider the fact that you are in a truly ski-in ski-out location at a top ski resort. That is really why you stay here. The kitchen didn't have Viking appliances or granite counters, but it was functional. The furnishings are not luxurious but are comfortable. That is what you get but it's fine and the location cannot be beat. I have found the housekeeping to be a bit disorganized during every stay. Sometimes the service was early in the day. Other times we were being serviced when we came back from the ski day. This is a bit annoying but we have accepted this issue. There is something to be said for not having to drive to ski, especially if you have kids. The convenience of the location makes this a great place to stay. If you demand true luxury and don't mind paying significantly more, go to Deer Valley. Ski rental shops are outside your door. We like Jake's Slopeside. Very helpful staff there. I have attached a photo of the living room for your information. In summary, you pay for the location, but the place is very comfortable and convenient. Decided to stay the first four nights of our first ski trip with the kids based on the convenience factor. Its expensive (almost $1k per night for two rooms) but made life easy as we acclimated to the locale. Rooms are nice, but pretty close to a standard hotel room. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Everything we needed was within walking distance. We had a pipe burst in the room above us during the stay and had to change rooms which was the only negative part of the stay. Our family of 5 stayed here last summer, August 2007. We really loved it. We traded our timeshare for a one bedroom here. Although a two-bedroom would have been more comfortable, we could fit all 5 of us without much of a problem. The hotel (or resort) is very rustic looking, as befitting a ski resort. It has 5 hot tubs and a large swimming pool. This area is very nicely landscaped. There are also alot of BBQ's which many people used, Right outside the complex is the ski lift. In the summer they had the zip-line, alpine coaster, horse rides, trampolines, and bungee jumping. Music was playing and it made for a great time, especially for our teens. The units were well-appointed and clean. There were LOTS of activities for all ages, but especially for young children. It looked like the kids were having a blast. We used the well-equipped exercise room alot and the kids used the pool tables. Staff was very friendly and helpful, although as a previous reviewer mentioned, they don't know too much about hiking or biking trails. We ate out every night and had some good meals. We went to Adolphs, which was good, but pricey. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of our two favorites; if anyone is interested, they can contact me. We ate at these two restaurants more than once! We liked our vacation at Mountainside so much we are going back to there this spring for some skiing! Stayed 2 nights in Mid-September at the Mountainside as a "nightly rental" guest. Although this is a vacation club (time share), you can rent as a hotel. The room, once we wound through some lengthy & many turns hallway, was slightly larger than a normal hotel room. There was sink , small fridge and some cups/dishes in the room. The fridge was nice for cold drinks during our stay but it had not been defrosted in ages and we did have to find the ice machine on another floor near the laundry. Laundry is free, and on every other floor. The king size bed was very soft, but I guess some people like that, we did not. Our view was immediately to the side of the mountain (no view), so if that is important, request it up front. They do not guarantee that unless you are vacation club member, but worth the asking. Since it is between seasons, it was overall very quiet, but the parking was stilled filled up. The garage is under the building and tight spots, hence their policy on large vehicles. One permit per room is what we were told. No problem, since you can take the free bus the is just across the courtyard/shopping area. The drivers can be great resource of info too. Get off at the transit center and you are immediately behind Main St or you can wait for the Main Street Trolley - also free. It is at the bottom of the slope with chair lift right there. Summer activities were still happening - zip line, chair lift to top for hiking and mountain roller coaster too. If you want to be in the midst of town, there is another Marriott Summit something that is on Main St. This is a few block away but in the midst of skiing activities. We used one of our Bonus weeks from Interval International to book at 2BR villa at MountainSide. This is our 3rd and longest visit to MountainSide, and we really enjoy the resort. We were on the 3rd floor in a very convenient location, overlooking the front entrance and some of the restaurants and shops at Park City Mountain Resort. Parking was easy as it is summer (it is very difficult and scarce in winter...) and they also gave us an overflow pass for our 2nd car. Check in was very easy and the staff were overall so friendly, nice and helpful. We really enjoyed the addition of the MAZE activities for children, they had a full list of things going on from morning until night, including activities for adults such as hikes, rafting, etc. The pool was fantastic and not very crowded. It was a great temperature and very clean. The resort even provides drinking water poolside, swim diapers and suntan lotion for those of us who forget! There was a pool attendant that kept the pool very clean and neat, although I am disappointed there is not a lifeguard. We swam several times and enjoyed the pool at night since it was open until 11 p.m. The room was in great shape, very clean upon arrival with very little wear and tear. The bed in the lock-off side was pretty lumpy, about the worst I've had in a Marriott lately...but that's ok. It was very convenient to have the 24 hour mini-marketplace (very mini, but has quite a good selection). We found this time of year to be perfect for visiting Park City as the crowds were pretty low and the weather was fantastic. Take advantage of the great activities right outside your door at MountainSide such as the alpine slide, alpine coaster, etc. The best ski in/ski out accommodations to be had. Courtesy ski equipment storage is a life saver. Great views of the ski area. We have skied in Park City for years and have always admired the Marriott Mountainside as we passed it on the Payday chairlift. This is our first time staying here and we have been very happy. It is ski in/ski out and the pool/jacuzzi are great. But, compared to other ski in/ski out resorts (ie, Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek) this resort is lacking in a few ways. There is no valet for the skis, which isn't that big a deal, except from the slopes you have to carry your skis through the pool area to the overnight storage (whereas in other resorts, you are greeted on the slopes and never have to trek through anything with your equipment.) The cleaning staff is very slow, perhaps understaffed. There is no room service as it is not a full service hotel. (again, comparing it to other ski in/ski out resorts). But, if you can get a good price (unused time-share on the internet for less than half of the rack rates) it's worth it. You can't beat the location and the rooms are spacious. A good choice for families with kids of all ages. Great ski in ski out location as it is nearly connected to the ski lodge/village and slopeside. Staff was friendly and helpful. Facility was as advertised and seemed to be in great condition. Rental car is not required as cabs are available everywhere, but I would personally recommend if you want to explore some of the surrounding areas. Olympic Park is well worth the visit, especially if you can catch it on a day where they are practicing freestyle aerials. Truly unbelievable to watch in person. I have stayed at alot of various ski lodges, and will stay at this one again. I strongly recommend for anyone wanting great ski in ski out accomadations. Facilities were very nice, so all in all is well worth the money. We just returned from this property and had a great vacation. The location cannot be beat, and the 2 br/ 2 bath condo was very comfortable. Our only complaint was with housekeeping. They were slow to clean our room each day , and the sheets and towels are mediocre quality. But compared to other ski condominiums it was better than most, and has some of the amenities of a hotel that most condos do not have such as a very nice fitness center, multple hot tubs, children's activities etc. We plan to return! We stayed at the Mountainside for an extended vacation. It was with my wife and our 4 yr old. We had a top floor room overlooking the pool. In retrospect we would have prefered a double room instead of the king, but there were none available. The hotel was in the middle of some remodeling which created some minor hassles but were understandable, ie 2 of the 6 hotpools were under repair, but the main huge pool was open. The internet lounge was down, a couple of ice machines etc. The only problem was there was no restaurants open on the property or within a short distance, since it is shoulder season. The rest was great. We would highly reccommend this hotel and are planning a return visit. Stayed for a long weekend in the beginning of February. Location of the resort is perfect. Right next to one of the main lifts and you can basically ski into the hotel at the end of the day. The outdoor hot tubs at the end of the day were perfect. There are several of them but they still did get a little crowded. They were fine drinking beers in the hot tub/pool area, but no bottles for obvious reasons. As we found, walking into the main part of town is a pretty long haul but there were plenty of cabs around (the ride is just a few minutes). There are a few restaurants in the area around the hotel and plenty of shops. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo and were perfectly happy. It is a Marriott so it is not the lap of luxury but very well kept and clean. Having a small kitchen was very useful. 3 TVs and a DVD/CD player were also useful and we had a decent view of the side of the mountain. Would stay there again for sure. Stayed 08/26/04-09/03/04. My parents came down to visit so we booked it as a getaway from our timeshare exchange company Interval International. The rates were very reasonable. I think we paid about $300-$400 for the entire week. Our view was of rocks. Our room faced the mountain the resort was built into and we were on a lower floor, so we didn't have that great of a view, but it was a lot quieter than the poolview. We have had the poolview on a higher floor before and that was really nice, but you can hear the general noise of playing and splashing up until they close at 10 PM. So, it just depends on preference. For my folks, quieter was definitely best. If it had been just my family, we would have preferred the poolside during the summer and a mountainview during the winter. The 2 BR was spacious enough for my folks in their room, and me, my husband, and daughter in the guest room. There is a pull out couch in the livingroom and in the guest room. The kitchenette in the guest room was handy (had dishes and utensils for 4) and it was nice to have our own bathroom. The guest room can be bought and booked by itself because of the lock-out door in the livingroom. The Master bathroom also opens up into the main entrance and into the Master suite. The livingroom was big enough with a couch and 2 chairs for us to all get together. The table with 4 chairs and a booth seat, was also big enough. I don't see how this would be comfortable for more than 4 adults and some kids, though. Marriott says they can sleep 8, which is true because of the 2 kings, and 2 pull outs. But the only two comfortable beds are in the Master and Guest rooms. Pull out beds are not that comfortable, so unless you have people with spines made out of rubber, the pull outs aren't going to be a great match for 4 + adults. I tested it w/my daughter in front of the TV with the DVD player. Marriott had extra bedding, which was great, but the sheets didn't fit the mattress very well. They kept slipping off (they are made for regular mattresses, not a thin pull out one). Suffice it to say, I was glad for the nice king bed in the guest room. Someone here complained about having to throw their trash outside in the parking lot. Just leave it outside the door and ask for more bags if you need to. With timeshares, you don't get your room cleaned everyday unless you're paying a paid rate (i.e. not exchanging, not occupying home resort), but the nature of a timeshare is they will provide you with the supplies you need. I just asked one of the friendly employees for more towels if I needed any, or just threw them in the wash. It's like a second home, and whoever complained about not having enough towels is expecting 5 star service for a pricey hotel. I had plenty of towels, stacked thickly in the bathroom shelves in EACH bathroom. Some people don't understand that timeshares and hotels are very different and meet different needs. If you want hotel service, stay in a hotel. Don't stay in a condo like setting and complain about not receiving a type of service you normally would only receive in hotels (because people there are working for tips) and read up on timeshares. Don't get me wrong, there is service, but it's not the same with that of a hotel. If you don't want to leave PC, you don't have to. There is a Walmart, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Outlet Mall w/food court about 10 mins away and on Main St (just two streets away) there is a lot of restaurants and higher priced boutiques. In SLC, it's about 30-45 mins away and it's not a bad drive, traffic wise. It's a straight shot on I-80 and it's really no big deal. Once, we had traffic on a Memorial Sunday with all the weekend vacationers from the lakes and towns in the mountains going back into the city. That doubled the time. But normally, the four lanes are more than plenty and the speed limit reasonable at 65? 70? Since we were there on a budget, we didn't eat at the most expensive places, though we have been to La Caille and loved it, Hotel Monaco, etc. We ate at a cheap Mex w/a Salsa bar called El Chubasco and I thought they were fantastic. I loved their salsa bar and prices at $5-$10 per person were very reasonable given the PC mark up. Albertsons is great for groceries. The prices on some items are slightly higher than SLC, but no biggie. Here's a tip. Movie rentals are $0.99 for a week day. They have a reasonable selection for kids. All in all, I enjoyed my stay. It was comfortable, while not luxurious. It was clean and supplied with the necessities. You will need laundry soap, but they provide dishwasher soap for you. An 8 out of 10 during the summer and a 10 out of 10 during the winter for their excellent ski in/ski out. Seven gals spent a long weekend here Oct. 1-4, '04, for a "mini" class reunion and 60th birthday celebration. We had a 2 bedroom villa which worked out perfectly for us. Staff was excellent and very accommodating. The views from our windows were picture perfect - the Aspen trees were in full golden color against the mountainside and we watched the horses being taken to and from the stables each day, the lift was just outside our window and the gals that rode the Alpine Slide waved to the rest of us as they flew down the slope. The hot tubs were great - we sat in them on Saturday night under the stars and just unwound after an event filled day. The kitchens were complete and the linens were plentiful. We knew ahead of time that there was no maid service, so it was no big deal to empty our own trash, make our beds, and use the dishwasher. We even washed some of our towels. It was a quiet, relaxing place, and we enjoyed shopping on Main Street. We took a 3 mile historic bike ride on Sunday morning and it was more than I expected and I'm glad we did it. It was 98% downhill, so no problems there. Also the horseback riding from the adjoining stable took us halfway up the mountain and the views were spectacular. The only complaint I would mention is the mattresses on the pull-out couches were lumpy - maybe ok for kids, but not the greatest for adults. If the mattresses had been better, I'd have given this place an "Excellent" rating. All in all, I know we'd all return again in the future. All the gals were really impressed by this resort. Keep up the great work!! We had a girl's night out here on June 19, 2004. The hotel is right at the base of the Park City Resort Plaza so everything you need is just a few steps away. The hotel is beautiful inside. We had a small room with king bed and pull out sofa, but it had a small kitchen, which is very convenient. We had planned on just using the hotel for sleeping and the pool, but it had so many great things to do, we mostly used the amenities here. There is air hockey, ping pong, a pool table, a very large pool and six or seven fabulous spas. They will also allow you to continue using the pool area after you check out. The summer amusements were open. In just a few steps you can ride the alpine slide, ride horseback, hike, bike, ride the kiddie rides. The ziprider was closed for updates, so we will need to come back another time for that! We went away to relax and with those lovely spas, we had a very relaxing time away from the city. The only negative thing was that the pool was so full of babies and young children that you couldn't use it to do laps for exercise. I usually use the pool for my exercise away from home. The pool is open from 8 am to 11 pm, so that is also a plus. The staff is extemely friendly and the room was nice and clean. We would definetly stay here again! This place was wonderful! We decided to go to Utah this winter to get away from the frigid cold up here in North Dakota (trust me, it was a 60 degree change when we got there). We aren't skiers, but if we were, this place would have been ideal. You can ski right out of the hotel and onto the slopes. What a great deal! They had plenty of other acitivies for winter sports (we went snowshoeing...what fun!) for those that don't like to ski and a very nice environment for adults at night (bars, eating establishments, etc). The one thing that kept us from giving this a 5 was the price of this town! This is definitely not a town for the budget minded. Even the lift passes were costly. But, at the end of the day, the bed in the room made all your worries go away. Overall, the room and hotel itself was better than my boyfriend and I expected. It was our first time snowboarding in Utah and staying at this hotel was the best idea. The lift is literally in the backyard, the staff was very friendly, the atmosphere of the hotel was so cozy, and there are multiple ski/snowboard rentals just steps away. The only thing missing was a restaurant on site and a spa to have a massage after a long day of snowboarding. We will definitely stay at this hotel again when we return to Park City in the future. We loved the fireplace and the huge (romantic) bathtub. It was great having the ski-lift right on resort, and the view is beautifully scenic. The only thing we were disappointed in was that the internet was not available during the two weeks we were there, and we were told that we would have access. It appears they were upgrading during our visit. The rest was wonderful! Honestly, I once stayed at the Marriott Whistler and loved it. However, that was a few years ago and my last two stays in Marriott Vacation Club properties(both in the last month or so) have not been up to par. Apparently, if you aren't an owner you get a horrible view. My view was of the front lobby and got a nice view of the dumpsters next door and the delivery trucks every morning. Definitely not worth 500/night. I requested a slope view. The front desk people were pleasant enough although they did not accomodate my requests. One other comment....there is no real restaurant on the property and its a drive to town. there are a couple of lounge/bar type eateries and there is a coffee house (kristis) in the same building around the corner. I sure hope that kristi's isn't marriott owned because a couple of the girls there, lets just say didn't act very professional. They told me they didn't carry decaf, yet someone else ordered it and they allegedly served her decaf???? Then I asked how that could be and the girl laughed in my face??? We stayed 12/30 through 1/3 and found it a pleasant stay. Careful in winter when you are just staying in the smallest room (like us -- king bed with pull out couch) with three people and all of the ski gear -- it is _very_ tight. With the couch pulled out, there just wasn't a lot of room and we felt a bit cooped up. That being said, you do spend most of your time out of the room, but while we were in there ... a bit cramped. Having ski-in/ski-out access was the most appealing and appreciated aspect of the resort. You save tons of time and effort. The indoor parking for your vehicle was great too (though a pricey $30/night.) The ski valet service (free, no tipping) was absolutely splendid and just staffed by wonderful people for advice and help. Other facilities such as several hot tubs were nice. The pool is kept at about 72 degrees - too cold for enjoyable swimming. We had a great dining experience at Chez Betty for NY's Eve & great evening sushi at the Flying Sumo (definitely a hangout). Had lunch one day at Easy Street - down in the bar - absolutely horrible service. We had a good time at this hotel. We stayed here during our skiing trip in March of 2004. The location was great--at the base of one mountain and it's ski lift and 2 blocks from a free bus that went to the other mountains. The room has a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub, but overall the room is bland, definately felt like a timeshare. The location is great, wlaking distance to numreous restaraunts. I would reccomend this servicable hotel. VERY expensive during the skiing season!! We stayed at the Marriott Mountainside 3/5/04 for two nights. The other reviewers are correct that this is a fantastic location for skiers. It is right on the slopes. Lift tickets and ski rentals are also within 100 yards of the property. What you need to know though is that this is not a full service hotel. This is in fact a timeshare condominium project. It is lovely as advertised but it does not have the standard of service nor the physical attributes of a hotel. Most notably there is no restaurant or room service. The staff was wonderful and professional, and the pool and spas are just what you need after skiing. The locker rooms with steam and sauna and showers were perfect for changing into our street clothes on our departure day after a long day of skiing. The other detail you need that has been left out by others is that these rooms come in three different sizes. You can get a "guest room", a one bedroom villa or a two bedroom villa. The villa accommodations include a separate living room/kitchen/dining area as well as a bedroom with the large tub etc. The second bedroom attaches to the villa or may be rented separately as a "guest room". The guest room has everything you need but is on the small side and has a kitchenette. Current rates are approximately $300 for the guest room, 400 for the one bedroom and $600 for the two bedroom. It is totally worth it to upgrade from the guest room accommodation to the one bedroom as the space is more than double, you get a fireplace, jacuzzi tub , washer dryer, and FULL kitchen all for only $100 extra. As for the views dont count on a slope side view. We were told that it was highly unlikely that a slope side view would be available as they are reserved for the timeshare owners. The fact is that few of the units actually face the slopes. The shortcomming of not taking the entire two bedroom villa is that there is a connecting door between the second bedroom and the villa. You will hear your neighbors.Although there are some restaurants nearby, the choices are limited and you will likely want to check out the options on main street or elsewhere. Although there is bus service a car is invaluable, especially if you want to buy groceries for your kitchen. Current policy on parking is that every reservation will get one garage parking spot. Dont bring two cars as parking is hard to come by.In summary, this is a nice place in a good location. The guest rooms are too small and are comparatively expensive, The one or two bedroom villas are fantastic. Dont count on a view, and dont expect hotel style service. Since we had a "guest room" I am givng this place only two stars. Had we known we would have rented a one bedroom villa and would likely have rated it four or five stars. Hope this info. helps!Peter

Just got back from a very disappointing stay at Marriott Mountainside. Booked thru Sell My Timeshare Now at a discounted rate from other owners, which was a terrible experience overall. No one at the timeshare dept. knows what they are doing-had to practically beg for paperwork. Got to hotel and rooms (2 bdrm) were smelly, cheap, dirty linens, terrible pillows, torn sofa, broken hairdryer, one soap per room FOR ONE WEEK! Two towels pp for one week! No maid service unless you paid an extra $46/daily for full service or $29/daily for "mini cleanup" (no one told us that at SMTSN.com). Horrible fireplace, no view or balcony in unit. What a ripoff for nearly $500/nt. Only good thing was access to lifts and garage parking. Called for bellman upon leaving, never came. Went to desk where clerk said "Oh-I paged him, but he never answered". Nice of her to call us back and let us know! NOT. DO NOT STAY HERE! Marriott is selling timeshares there-beware. They should be embarrassed by the condition of these units. We requested a mountain view - ie a view of the Park City ski slopes... we were told our request was noted but not gauranteed. What we actually got was a view of a bank of snow less than 10feet from our window as the hotel is built into the side of the hill. Literally a mountain view. When we complained (for $400 a night we figured we deserved better...) we were told that was the only view available as all the other rooms were owned rather than available to the hotel for guests. We would never have paid $400 a night for a room at that hotel had we realised we had no choice but the worst view. On top of that the room was dated and the hot tubs were little more than luke warm. They charge the high rate for the ski in ski out facility, but it's not worth the money. We'll not be staying there again. As Silver Elite members we were incredibly disappointed. Sadly, the Mountainside is not what it used to be. We were very disappointed to see this hotel loose its class and category. The staff makes no effort to accommodate the requests of the guests; the hallways were always packed with trash bags; there were no remote controls in the rooms, the fireplace did not work. Very bad service overall. I stayed at this property during the Sundance Film Festival and they were overwhelmed to say the least. After requesting a high floor room w a view three times prior to arrival they put me in a ground floor room by the pool that smelled of mold and had nasty, unmentionable stuff around the toilet and toilet seat, hair in the tub. etc. I asked to be moved and was treated rudely by a number of desk people, questioning why I needed to change rooms. There are a lot of "front desk managers" so it is hard to find the real boss. Finally, the next day one of them assured me they would make the switch. They called me (I was out and about in Park City) to get me back to the hotel to move in the afternoon. When I went to the front desk to say I was back, they all acted like they had no idea why I was there. No one had a clue! And they rudely started questioning me again about why I needed to change rooms. I've never experienced this kind of pressure. They finally found the person that had made the switch. No one apologized. The new room was okay but beat and the maid service never arrived before 6 and one night I had to beg at 7. Finally two guys came and made the bed. Good location, average room and NO SERVICE or RUDE SERVICE. We (I, my wife, and daughter) get one or two weeks of vacation a year so when we do vacation it is greatly anticipated and looked forward to. Having seen the Mountainside 2.5 years ago when we passed through Park City we decided to use our timeshare week because the Mountainside looks so darn nice. When we arrived we asked if we had a choice of rooms and were told that the place was at full capacity (at late May/Early June...when schools are still in!). This was no problem as we were given what was probably the best room in the hotel (thank God!). We got rooms 7821 and 7819 on the 8th floor. Both are on a top floor so there were no guest rooms above us. The main room also has vaulted ceilings and is very spacious. The master bedroom is just off the living room and is, again, very spacious. The good thing about this master bedroom is there is a linen closet on the otherside of the adjoining wall so there is no noise coming from rude guests. The lockout room we had was nice and all three rooms had great views of the mountain, mountain activities, swimming area, and Park City. This is where the accolades stop as we soon found out this is the "rumpus room" of hotels. This hotel is, for lack of a better word, the second home for timeshare owning Mormons who live in nearby cities. We had the misfortune of being surrounded by a large Mormon family who was having a sort of family reunion the week we were there. They occupied 4 rooms-one across from us, two next to us, and one diagonally across from us. This family was the loundest, rudest, most ill-behaved, self-centered, and oblivious family we have every had the misfortune of being around. The thing that made their abhorrent behavior all the more noticeable was the poor construction of the hotel rooms. Our daughters lock out room (7819) shared a wall with one of their rooms and we could hear every scream, laugh, yell, slammed door, slammed drawer, and stomped foot this family produced. By the third day our daughter had been awakened from naps and at 6am by this band of malcontents so many times that she asked to sleep in our bed. Which was fine, kids need their sleep, and to be honest the bed in our room was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. And I found out after I was "kicked" out of bed by my daughter that the pull out sofa mattress was actually more comfortable than the master bed. This says a lot about the quality of the hotel and it gets worse. Moving on... When this awful family would leave their rooms they would just let the doors slam shut without trying to stop it and it made a terrible "BOOM" in our rooms. It was almost as if it was our door they were opening and closing-it was like the noises they made were being made right in our room! Aside from the paper thin walls I noticed that the doors in both our rooms were not hung correctly. Both doors had major gaps between the edge of the door and the door frame. The door in 7821 was so bad that I could actually put my pinky finger up to the first knuckle in between the top of the door and the door frame. Gee I wonder why we could hear all of their noise! In addition, whenever one of the little punk kids would run yelling down the hallway their booming footsteps and loud yell echoed throughout our room. I don't want anyone to think this was an isolated incident and I'm being too sensitive. Literally, there were unattended kids running around everywhere! In the lobby, the pool area, the gym (where they weren't supposed to be), on every hotel level as they "explored the hotel". Unattended kids were everywhere! I brought this to the attention of a hotel mananger and she told me that it's like this every summer. She said that the Mormon families and their many kids come to the hotel for vacation and because they have so many kids the mothers can't keep track of them. This manager told me that they've had to tell parent(s) on numerous occassions that each of her 5 kids was doing something in the hotel they weren't supposed to and that all of her kids were unattended (which is against hotel policy). She said it seems that "once a family had 4 kids that all attempts at parenting went out the door". To the credit of the resort they did offer us other rooms to stay in so we could get away from the family next to us. However the other rooms I looked at were on lower levels and within 5 minutes of being in the room I could hear the pounding of footsteps from the rooms above. It was very clear to me that if you didn't have a top floor room that you would have noise coming from all sides. Putting it mildly, this hotel is not for anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet escape from the grind of normal life as the oblivious families who stay at the Mountainside bring all of the noise and headache causing stress from normal life with them. However, if you are Mormon, come from a large family, or are deaf the Mountainside would be perfect for you. The manager I spoke with did tell me that the clientele that vacation at the hotel in the winter is much different than the clintele in the summer. She surmized that with all their kids, Mormon families can't afford to do anything expensive so they just come in the summer and do all the free stuff like stay in the pools all day (thus ruining the atmosphere for everyone else) and run crazy throughout the hotel in an effort to get their kids exercise. About the pool area. There is a nice large pool and 6 hot tubs all varying in temperature. During our visit the pool was used a lot by people but the hot tubs were used even more, not just by adults but by the large families and all their kids. Try to imagine two families with ten kids taking over a hot tub. Now imagine this occuring everyday, all day, for an entire week. Usually hot tubbing is relaxing and fun, not so at the Mountainside. The pool area was just another part of the hotel that was over run by large rude familes looking to do something free. Another issue about the pool is that they allow swimming up until 11pm. If you're on a top floor this isn't an issue but if you're on a lower floor facing the pool I think it would be quite noisy from not only the pool but from the noise the pool side music makes. The music would sometimes stay on until midnight-an hour after the pool had cleared out! And do you think there was an adult only swim time? Nope! Kids are allowed to stay in the pool until 11pm and I guarantee you that that pool and hot tub area was full of kids from sun up till sundown. There wasn't a single moment where two adults could have some peace and quiet to enjoy their vacation. I take that back, you can buy foam earplugs that are rated to 33 decibles at the local Rite-Aid, they do a great job of blocking out noise. Needless to say, we won't be going back to the Mountainside ever again. In talking with locals we were told that the Canyons was a much quieter place for people to stay and with the Westgate nearly complete the next time we go back to Park City we will stay there, plus we heard the beds are much, much more comfortable.
In response to some previous reviews about this hotel: Someone complained that there aren't restaurants at this hotel. While there aren't restaurants inside of the hotel there are two restaurants-Legend's and a mexican restaurant-about 100 steps from the hotel lobby. In addition, there is a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory right near the front of the hotel. There are plenty of eating options. Another person commented about the lack of bus service and how it didn't go to Albertson's (or something like that). The bus stops about 500 steps away from the hotel lobby, it's free wherever you want to go in in Park City, and it stops right in front of Albertsons. I don't know what these two people were complaining about because both of the things they said didn't exist were right outside the front door. I KNOW THIS REVIEW IS LONG, BUT IT IS A WORTHWILE AND TRUTHFUL READ IF YOU PLAN TO STAY HERE!!! My boyfriend and I stayed at Marriott's Mountainside Villas in February 2008. We stayed in a Guest Villa and paid the standard rate of $379 plus tax ($418.42/per night) for a week, totaling $2,928.94. We did EXTENSIVE research surrounding all possible options in Park City and decided to go with this property for the following reasons: 1) Location, 2) That it is a Marriott property and we would be sure that it would be well-maintained and decorated nicely (WRONG!!!) 3) The fact that I am a Marriott Gold member with almost 1 milliion points with Marriott, and we MAY be able to get a room with a decent view. (WRONG!!!). Regarding location, it is very nice to be at the base of the mountain, however, do not be fooled - there are MANY other properties just as close or a very, very short walk. In fact, we commented every day about the fact that the walk down the LONG hallways of the Marriott to our room was much further than if we had walked across the Park City parking lot! Also, there are not any restaurants or bars inside the Marriott, which is unusual for any Marriott hotel or even timeshare. To make matters worse, the restaurants and bars in Park City Resort close VERY early - I mean 9 pm or earlier, which made it impossible to go out and enjoy dinner and/or drinks... Keep that in mind when you decide whether to stay in town or at the mountain. Regarding the room, the Guest Villa is VERY VERY small, we tried to stay organized and unpack everything, but there were only 3 or 4 drawers for clothes so we had suitcases and snowboard gear all over the place. We were tripping over everything for a week, If you are considering staying at this property in a guest villa - you should change your plans for this reason alone - it is one of the smallest "hotel" rooms I have ever stayed in, and I travel every week to various hotels for work. The ABSOLUTE worst part of the room, was the fact that the faucet on the kitchen sink is made for a full size sink, however the sink is a bar-sized sink. As a result, the faucet stuck out right to the edge of the counter - you absolutely could not wash dishes or your hands in this sink without water running all down the front of the cabinets and all over the counter. When we complained to the General Manager about this, we were told that it was that way in EVERY room in the hotel and it was a "defect" when the property was built and has never been changed. We had to try to wash dishes in the bathroom sink, which was ridiculous, because there is only one very small bathroom and the sink, toilet, and shower are all in there. We ended up having to buy paper plates and cups and plastic silverware and not wash anything - for a week. Additionally, the bed was HORRIBLY uncomfortable -- Marriotts are known for their comfortable beds, and this was one of MANY MANY differences between this propety and a "real" Marriott. Moving on, the decor in the room was as bad as a cheap motel - the couch and chairs were cheap and dirty, the the carpet had stains. The bathroom shower had mildew and mold in the tile grout and the whole place was cheaply made and decorated. To make matters worse, our room had a view of the parking lot and a construction zone, which was dulled by the fact that there was only one very small window and no balconies (NONE OF THE ROOMS AT THE MOUNTAINSIDE HAVE ANY BALCONIES). Another issue with the room was that the heating/AC system in the room was atrocious - it was either freezing cold or so hot that you couldn't breath, which made it impossible to sleep, because one of us had to keep getting up to turn the heat on and off. The final straw that broke my back was that we spent four days calling the front desk and maintainence to try to find out what this obnoxious, loud, cluncking noise was...Finally, on the 5th day, we were told that our room was over the trash compactor and they run the compactor all day, beginning early in the morning. According to them, there are "numerous" rooms affected by this horrible, continous noise. Lastly, I had to spend HOURS of time speaking with the General Manager, Front Desk Managers, and Marriott Vacation Club corporate, complaining about everything that transpired. I asked to move rooms on multiple occasions and was denied until the 5th day after the trash compactor issue was uncovered. At that point, it wasn't worth packing everything up with two nights left. Regarding my Marriott status - that may not be of interest to you until you understand the fact that if I was treated like this as a GOLD Marriott member with almost 1 million points, imagine how they treat a "regular" guest.... I even called ahead and spoke to the GM to try to get a "good" room and was told that only 10% of the rooms at the property have a view of the mountain and they are ALL reserved for timeshare owners... Basically, people paying FULL COST (remeber how much we were paying) are given LAST priority on room location. Given this information, I would not recommend EVER staying at this hotel as a non-timeshare owner. The only good thing I can say about the Marriott is that the hot tub area is very cool (this was another reason we picked this property)...HOWEVER, the hot tubs were VERY busy and crowded (particulary with children, which was not very relaxing), and you were always sharing a hot tub with a bunch of people that you didn't know, so definitely take that into consideration when weighing the hot tubs as a benefit. In retrospect, we regret staying at this property, and wish that we had stayed in a 1 bedroom townhouse that had a balcony and a fireplace, and would have cost the same and been located in the same vicinity. (We had a few options like this, but erroneously went with Marriott for the original reasons given.) Please feel free to contact me with any other questions, and I implore you to STAY ELSEWHERE!!!! Have a great trip :) Terrible experience! Since it is the only hotel ski in and ski out the service and cleaness of the rooms lack everything. Hair heaven, in the bathrooms, sheets and blankets. They say check in is at 4:00 but our room was ready until 5:30 and if it was clean, well you might understand! It is definately not a Marriott brand property. They need a lot of improvement. We stayed in a 1 br suite, which was unfortunately dirty, especially the bathroom with mold in the shower, and had a pervasive musty, dirty smell. The hallways had a strong, unpleasant odor as well. The elevators were consistently littered with trash, fast food wrappers, gum, etc. that people had apparently just thrown on the floor. It was extremely crowded and they did not have enough parking to accomodate everyone. The decor in the room appeared very dated, the tv was bolted down, the table covered in plastic, and the sofa was stained in multiple places, the curtains on the windows were stained as well. The towels were very thin and the amenities were really basic- hand soap and a shampoo/conditioner combo. Out the windows all you could see were rocks, it was almost like being underground. It was noisy; we consistently heard foot traffic and conversation from other rooms and in the hallway. The real kicker is there were two intercoms in our suite. We were attempting to relax one evening when we were interrupted by a loud annoucement that the owner of a certain car had to move out of the circular driveway, or else they would be towed. It was shocking. Please don't stay here if you want any level of quiet, privacy, or relaxation. The one positive for this place is location, it is slopeside. If all you want to do is ski, and have no concern for the quality and comfort of accomodations, then stay here. Otherwise, there are plenty of nice hotels in park city!
