5 of 5  Lovely Stay, Great Service, A TripAdvisor Member, Ohio, June 23, 2009

We had a lovely stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Brookville. We were traveling through on I-70 when our car broke down and we needed a place to stay. We were very lucky and happy to find this hotel. The staff was helpful in getting a proper room for our party, and the rooms were very clean and well appointed and large. We enjoyed the free breakfast. This was a memorable stopover during an occasion that could have been far far worse. The owner was especially helpful and accomodating. We can't say enough good things about this hotel. Highly recommended.

Easy to get to from the highway

5 of 5  Fresh and clean, A TripAdvisor Member, Arlington, VA, July 19, 2008

A fresh and clean hotel for a stop on a roadtrip. Our room had 2 comfortable chairs for reading, one even had an ottoman. So, my husband and I did not have to toss a coin to see who would have to read sitting on the bed. Very quiet. Breakfast was set up early so we could get back on the road. Really appreciated that.

5 of 5  Excellent place to stay, A TripAdvisor Member, Phoenix, June 7, 2007

Holiday Inn Express locations are usually newer properties of high standards, and this one is no exception.

First of all, it was quiet as a tomb, in spite of my room being the closest in the motel to I-70. The doors are solid, the A/C is whisper-quiet (or at least it doesn't have a bunch of clicks, pops, and rattles). The bathroom is great, all the modern amenities including that nice big showerhead. The king bed came with 2 soft and 2 firm pillows, with nice bedding. The bed wasn't quite as comfortable as the Hampton's new bed, but not bad at all. The only small quibble is that the room lacked a fridge and microwave.

It is certainly convenient to I-70, Dayton, and the Dayton Airport.

There is a Days Inn adjacent, which I've stayed at before. My advice is to spend the few extra bucks and stay at the Holiday Inn Express instead. It's that much better.

Wonderful hotel. It was very clean and quiet. Perfect spot right off of I-70 for a quick stay. Internet was very useful.

5 of 5  Great Elegant Hotel in Excellent Condition!! Enjoyed my Stay!, A TripAdvisor Member, Averill Park, NY, January 17, 2006

Checked In sometime in the evening on a Wednesday, the frontdesk staff was very friendly, helpful and professional....willing to go above and beyond for the guests....the room was in excellent condition and got to end my entire stay with a nice continental breakfast.I recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Dayton, OH.

5 of 5  Nice, new hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Madison, WI, September 1, 2004

We spent one night here and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel seems new and is in excellent condition. The express start breakfast had a lot of items - fresh warm cinnamon rolls, hard boiled eggs, fruit, other pastries, bagels and toast, coffee, tea and juice. Everything was very good and filling. It's in a nice location with several restaurants nearby and even a nice city park. The rooms have queen beds. We would stay here again.

4 of 5  Easy stop near Dayton, A TripAdvisor Member, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, July 27, 2008

Easy off and on for I 70. Good room with nice furnishings. Ref and microwave. Breakfast room a bit small. I found my location to be quiet. No noticed room to room noise. Friendly staff. Close-by fast food. A park one block away. A minor negative -

Over my two day stay the driveway and grounds were not cleared of trash. A nice stay, however, and I would stop again.

2 of 5  Yuck!, A TripAdvisor Member, Fairbury, Illinois, August 2, 2008

We have stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels before, but this was, by far, the worst. The breakfast bar was not the greatest; if you were not down there by 8:30 promptly, you would end up with lukewarm coffee, hard biscuits, cold rolls, and maybe a few teaspoons of sausage gravy. We were woken up at 10:30 at night by the desk clerk; he said that the people under us were complaining that we were making too much noise! How much noise can you make when everyone is asleep? The freezer in the fridge was iced up, there was mold on the shower curtain and tub, the cupboards were sticky....I couldn't wait to leave. The only positive was that the mattress on the bed was comfortable, and we didn't hear much noise from the outside. Also, the internet was a bonus. But, we don't plan on staying there ever again.

2 of 5  Incompetent management/front desk staff, A TripAdvisor Member, Atlanta, Georgia, January 15, 2006

The rooms were not an issue with my stay. They were clean and accommodating. I suppose that's because the hotel seemed pretty new. However, the front desk/management staff were completely incompetent. The below-average level of managerial skills was apparent in every interaction - from the initial call to make the reservation, until check-out. Below are just some of the highlights of this rediculous experience:

* "Harry" (front desk person) had to call me back three times during my initial call to make the reservation because "there was some confusion with another reservation." ... Should have taken that as a big sign.

* The third time Harry and I spoke, he kept confusing my name and reservation with my brother and sister-in-law's reservation. After at least three clarifications, Harry seemed to understand that my reservation and my brother's reservation were two completely different reservations. This did not turn out to be the case.

* Upon check-out, the front desk charged my brother for MY room and HIS room.

* At some point, they charged MY credit card with $150 charge. Have no idea why since my room was $89.

* They charged my brother for an "executive room" which was $109. They later said that my brother requested this room upon making the reservation. ... What my brother requested was a "non-smoking room." (Never request an "executive room" - I stayed in the "standard room" and the two are identical.)

From a customer service standpoint, this is a case study. They are sadly disorganized, inexperienced and easily confused. Would not recommend this hotel.

1 of 5  Not the way that I want to wake up, A TripAdvisor Member, Toledo, OH, May 19, 2005

While on a business trip, my wife and I spent two nights at the brand new Holiday Inn Express, Brookville, just west of downtown Dayton, Ohio. Not once, but TWO mornings, we got nothing but ice cold water out of our shower. When we reported this to the hotel management, we were told that because the hotel was filled to capacity, we should expect this type of problem and that it was beyond their control.

Only after repeated complaints did we receive an insultingly small adjustment to our bill. We also wrote to Holiday Inn corporate headquarters who replied that the compensation we had received was more than adequate for having to take ice cold showers two days in a row in a $125 room.
