Have just stayed here for four nights and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good, clean budget hotel at a reasonable price. We paid about 75 euros per night. The staff were very helpful and there was free internet access in the lobby. We did not eat there so cannot comment on the food. The location is excellent, about 10 walk minutes to the old town. Turn left out of the hotel and then first left and it is a very pleasant walk through a park into the old town. The area around the station is a bit seedy but we had no problems even late at night. There are lots of bars and restaurants around the old town and adjoining areas and all we tried were very good. The Schlacte embankment is very nice, beer gardens overlooking the river etc. We did a tour of Becks Brewery which was not only very informative but a good laugh as well, blind tasting and drinks included! All in all Bremen was way better than we expected and well worth a visit. The reviews already written about this hotel are spot on. Very good location. Easy walk from the Tram/Train/Bus station and to the old town area. Very well run hotel. Nice bar. Big cold buffet breakfast available. On the street next door is a very good Cafe if a coffee/tea with a cake is all you want. Recommended. I booked Ibis hotels several times in the past, so I knew that this is a budget hotel. But a very good one! The room was available as reserved, check-in was polite and efficient. Everything in the room was in good condition, nothing to complain about. The room was clean and well maintained. In the evening we visited the bistro and had some drinks. Prices are reasonable. Again the staff was very helpful and friendly. We walked from the main-station. My advice: Make a small detour and walk along the contrescarpe water (the former fortifications). The direct walk along a main street which is more of a highway is not very pleasant and makes you wonder where you will arrive in the end. The hotel itself is at the end of this main street and its surroundings are much better than one expects. Ibis in Bremen is a very nice hotel, quite central and just a short stroll into the beautiful medieval town centre with its shops and churchs. We visited in December and found the Christmas market absolutely wonderful. The people in Bremen are very friendly and most speak English. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient and the room clean, comfortable and quiet although not very stylish! The cost was extremely reasonable. We didnt eat there so I cant comment on the food. We plan on returning to Bremen again next Christmas as we enjoyed it so much and would definately stay at the Hotel Ibis again. I paid €59 for one night here plus €9 for breakfast, having booked on the Ibis website. The room was pretty standard Ibis fare - you always know what you're getting with this chain. A clean room with very similar decor and furniture to just about every other Ibis. That's not a criticism though. One plus which may sound strange is the choice of TV listings magazine provided in the rooms. Most other hotels I stayed at during my 2 week trip had an A5 monthly listings magazine with very little detail at all, while Ibis provides a copy of the weekly Hör Zu (Germany's equivalent of Britain's Radio Times) which has very detailed listings of what's on all German TV channels. It's a small touch that makes Ibis stand out amongst many more expensive hotels. The location was good too - 10 mins walk from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Train Station) and about the same from the city centre's shopping and cultural areas. Breakfast is another area where Ibis does better than many hotels which charge a lot more. There is a large buffet with plenty of choice of typical continental fare like breads, cold meats, cheeses, muesli, eggs and fruit with a variety of fruit juices and hot drinks. The Ibis chain are basically low-cost hotels and as such all I was really looking for was a nice clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. And that was what I got. The rooms are nothing to write home about but they are VERY clean and I had a good nights sleep both nights I stayed here. The hotel is about 5-10mins walk from the main station and about 10-15mins from the old town. There are plenty of nightclubs/bars about 5 mins from the hotel but they are far enough away that they don't become a problem. A taxi from the airport is roughly €10-12 and takes about 10mins. Whilst I was staying in the hotel the lifts were out of order, althought the hotel only has 5 floors. I also thought the breakfast was a bit overpriced at €9.50. Basic, clean hotel in good location. 5 minute walk from the main square. Rooms were clean. Staff were friendly. Didn't eat breakfast as we thought E9.50 was too much. Bar had no atmosphere. Definitely not where you'd want to spend your night drinking. Very noisy on the last night as it was full of loud Germans coming in at 3.30am with no consideration for the other guests. Price was good though. E65 pn for 2 people. | ||||
