My father lives at Anglers Cove. He moved there last year. I love going down to visit him. All the condos are privately owned, so some may take care of them better than others. His condo is very nice. The pool and hot tub we use are always clean. The tennis courts are nice. The food is great. I love sitting out on the screened in balcony. We have seen manatees on a few different occasions swim in the bay. My only concern for people planning a trip here is to consider that if you are not looking for a laid back trip surrounded by old people (pretty much everyone at Anglers Cove and Marco Island) then do not come here. There are no amusement parks, no mall, no putt-putt.... If you want to do more nature things like ride an airboat, walk the beaches, read a book, play bingo (haha)...It is a good place. We have been coming to Marco once or twice a year for the last five years and always stay at Angler's Cove. We found the place through the internet via a travel agent's ad. After reading a few of the recent reviews of Anglers, I felt compelled to write. We always stay in the same unit in the J building. While the unit is a one bedroom, it has two full size beds and a pull out queen sleeper. This unit has been completely updated, all new furniture, appliances, flooring, etc. It is very clean and well maintained, comes with beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, shelling bags, tennis rackets, all for our use. We can overlook the pool and watch our children, as well as see the bay. The Dolphin Tiki Bar is a restaurant/bar on the grounds that overlooks the bay and has great food and a very friendly atmosphere. The pools have always been very very clean. Every morning I can watch the pool maintenance people clean the pool and hot tub below, test it, clean the patios, clean the chairs. I've never been there when it hasn't been clean! All of the people we have met, residents (many of which own as vacation homes or are retired living there full time) have been very friendly and helpful. Also, the travelers we've met have all been very nice. The location is perfect too. While not a pricey hotel on the beach, overlooking the bay, watching the boats, fishing from the piers, is always quite enjoyable and peaceful. You can book a fishing trip right from the pier at Angler's or you can walk to the Marina next door and book boat rentals, shelling trips, fishing trips, trips to the Keys. You can walk to all kinds of shopping, bike rentals, car rentals, restaurants. While the public beaches are a car or bike ride away, they are also easily accessible. We prefer the South Beach, as we then will walk the beach (about 4 miles long and sometimes very wide). While there are many shells, we usually have no problem walking, as there is much more clean white sand to walk on. We find tons of unbelieveable shells here. We used to go to Sanibel for about 15 years before we found Marco. We like Marco better and find many more shells here and enjoy our beach walks much more, as there is much more beach to walk. All in all, I have never had a complaint about Marco, it's beaches, or Anglers Cove. I plan on returning here year after year and highly recommend it for value, cleanliness, friendliness and location. Anglers Cove is not really an hotel. It is a collection of privately owned condos all furnished individually by the owners. So you stay in someone's home but local phone calls are free and you don't pay the electricity. The suites are very spacious and with 2 pools, 3 jacuzzi's and a waterfront tikki bar, and it's great. Some people live there year round. Lucky or what? If you rent direct from the owners you may get a better deal. We had unit # K 503. It is a 2 bedroom unit with a outstanding view of the water. It has new bedroom furniture and new carpet. Very nice. If you are into golf don't both with any of the courses close to Marco. Go the Lily and play the Flamigo or Mustang. I was a bit disappointed initially because I'm used to a tad more luxury with regard to furniture, decorative appointments and electronics. But I must admit it all turned out great. Angler's Cove is as conveniately located as is possible on Marco. The Dolphin Tiki Bar on site is a great place to meet and greet and catch a quick sandwich. The property is well maintained and it was a good time. Angler's Cove is not a place for single young people. My spouse and I are 52 and we were on the young side of the majority. However, young families with children have their own pool, patio and hot tub and seemed delighted. I think Marco Island and Angler's Cove are an excellent retreat. It has a friendly, inclusive, small town atmosphere. I'd go back. We booked a condo in the J building for 1 week. It was pretty nice and not too old. The location is right next to the marina and many very good restaurants are within walking distance. Note that you are not on the beach or even near the beach. You need to drive to Tigertail or South beach and pay $6 per car to park. It was convenient to booking a dolphin siting tour at the marina! One thing about Marco Isand ... the residents are trying to make it difficult for tourists. There was talk of making one-week rentals obsolete, as well as various new bridge tolls. The residents keep tourists totally off one beach. The businesses seemed friendly enough and were happy to take our money. Angler's Cove--Convenient & Excellent location. Ability to walk to many local restaurants/shopping plazas/grocery & drug stores. Boat marina is next door for rentals, cruises, fishing trips and bicycle & scooter rental is within a block. We rented mountain bikes and rode to Tiger Tail Beach almost daily, and explored the island including the Goodlands fishing area. Lots of shells, fish and shore birds. Parking was scarce if you returned after 9 p.m., but the rental office across the street told us we could always park there if necessary. The 1 bdrm was adaptable for use of our teenaged son, but there was little privacy--a 2 bdrm. is preferable. It was very pleasant overall, except for our last night when we were awakened by a loud party in one of the condos which was quashed by security eventually. The landscaping is an assortment of tropical plants and palms and our view of the bay and boats was lovely. Many friendly people were around the pools and spas during the day and we enjoyed lunch at the Tiki bar on the grounds after a boat tour where the dolphins did a private show for us in the bay. Our son and friends enjoyed the pools, the tennis courts, and fished right off the docks one afternoon! We could have used another set of towels, especially for the beach, so we bought a set and used the coin laundry in the building a couple times. The kitchen was fully furnished and there were essential appliances and dishes to meet ordinary needs. We enjoyed the location and condo enough to consider a return booking next year. We stayed here an entire month last year. We only had a one bedroom place, but the complex had lovely pools, great views, in-house laundry facilities, and was walking or biking distance to everywhere. In 2005 we are going back. This time renting a 2 BR so we have more space, and can have guests more easily. Angler's Cove is very reasonably priced, has a wonderful location, is most-of-the-time quiet (the occasional party), has lovely facilities, etc. We understand it was one of the very few places that did NOT get hit by all the hurricanes this year. We are so looking forward to returning! I just returned from an 8 day vacation in South west Florida. Returning home to Minnesota was sooo difficult. I went there with 3 of my girlfriends and we stayed in a condo on Marco Island. The condos were named Anglers Cove, and they were very nice. The room featured a screened lanai, Kitchen, Living room, nice bathroom, and two queen sized beds in a separate room. I would recommend going to Snook's Inn for dinner one night. It's right on the water, and it was very good. We traveled to Naples daily, and that area is soo beautiful. Drive along the coast and look at the houses. You have never seen houses like this before. They are simply amazing. Also, if you have access to a boat try to go out and spend a nice day on Key Waden. It's a small island and you can anchor your boat on the shore and meet a lot of people who all just want to party and have a good time. The Naples and Marco area has really started to blow up. I recommend traveling there soon before the prices get too unreasonable plenty to do on marco island and the appartments are very good at anglers cove. eating out is great if you love sea food as we do you name it , they have it,be sure to visit bemini for a meal but go late the entertainment is good we danced till early hours and really enjoyed it .you can hire a boat or go on a evening cruise with dinner included the appartments look over the bay but if you prefer the beach it is not far away. we will be back it is a really friendly happy place to spend a vacation.have fun may &graham. Getting ready to leave Anglers Cove in Marco Island. Nice relaxing stay even with the Ernesto Tropical Storm. This is a great time of year to stay in the condos. Not very busy at all, primarily only the residence that live there. Condo 501M was extemely nice...end unit and much bigger 2 bedroom than others. This one does not have a lanai but it has sliding full glass doors. Not a condo for individuals that smoke but I didn't have a problem smoking out front. The pools along with the hot tubs were very well maintained We had the Laundry room on our floor with is very convenant when you have to do daily laundry for 5. Only thing deceiving is the address & the beach is not "nearby". The office is located across from the beach. Angers Cove is at least 2 miles from the beach and it cost $6 to park ..oh I forgot...Tigertail Beach isn't really a beach...not to my standards..yes it had sand but it was more like a lake where you can walk from one side to the other through the water...fish jumping out of water everywhere and no waves what so ever. Left there immediately and went to South Marco Beach. Had a lot of shell & great waves..which we loved. Overall stay was pretty nice. Would consider coming back in the future. We just returned from a week long stay in Angler's Cove with our two kids, ages 4 and 1. After reading the review about the horrible unit, the gritty clientele, the smelly Tiger Tail beach, we were apprehensive about the stay. Our unit was clean, but dated. The clientele was a bit sketchy (two police busts during our stay...), but the island itself was awesome! Tiger Tail is interesting and challenging to navigate. Lots of wildlife to see there. South Marco is great, but crowded. We found just to the South of the beach a point where there were HUGE shells just littering the beach! The keylime pie at the local Publix is made fresh every day and is AMAZING! We spent a day touring Sannibel Island, which was a different change of pace. Although you have to pay $6 to cross the bridge, it's pretty worth it. It reminds me of Kaui or Maui -- very laid back. We ate at the Island Cow, my fav. restaurant of the trip. We also took the kids to Naples Zoo one day--also very unique and I'd reccomend it highly. My wife found the accomodations at Angler's pretty gritty and unacceptable. With two small kids, she felt the place was too sketchy, the condo unit too lived in. However, I thought it was just right for a casual, beachy vacation where the kids are sandy and you just want to kick back and relax in a very non-fussy environment. (But that speaks to the differing needs of men and women, I guess!) Stayed at Angler's Cove on my vacation to Marco Island. I got a low price through a vacation package so for the money it was good. But if you're paying regular rice, I'd pick a resort/hotel on the beach front instead. We just returned from Marco Island. We had a wonderful week. The December weather was wonderful. It was a laid back - non touristy atmosphere. We enjoyed shelling. We went into the Everglades. Turner River Road is a must. We saw dozens of alligators in the open there. We enjoyed the Cypress Zoo and Botanical Gardens very much. Our unit at Angler's cove had a beautiful view. We were right on an inlet to the Gulf of Mexico. The resort was lush with folage. The pools, hot tubs and tennis courts were very nice. Each room has a lanai (screened porch). The master bedroom was nice and very large. The second bedroom was small. Just one bathroom. The appliances and front room furniture and electronics in our particlar unit were in need of an update. It was a clean unit. We would love to go again.

I read the reviews on tripadvisor.com before leaving for Marco Island and was excited about my trip there. Our family of four visited it this June. We were greatly disappointed in our unit (203A). It was really bad because the unit was in poor shape and badly maintained. There were no good utensils and pots and pans, the cutlery was bad too. I was very surprised there was only one baking pan (it was filthy). The unit had a lot of blown bulbs too. Most importantly, the scariest thing about the condos is the type of people who live there now. It has sort of become the cheapest rental place on the island. It is not a good location anymore and it had a filthy swimming pool too. I was disgusted by the foam in the pool. There are quite a few low income people who live there too. Also, we were disappointed with the beach (Tigertail was horrible because the water smelled like a swamp!) and South beach was the most shelly beach we had ever been too. It was covered with shells... INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! very painful! we will not go back to Marco Island anytime soon! We went up to Naples and visited Vanderbilt beach and it was much nicer there... We loved that beach... water was nice and calm and the beach was not shelly and painful. we have 2 young children, 4 and 1... so we had to have a nice beach to hangout on. My advise is pick somewhere else, and definitely don't go to Anglers Cove. We also had an itchy skin problem after getting into the swampy smelly water of Tigertail beach.
