Only back stayed in this hotel 10th - 20th July 2006 as a family of four x2 adults and x2 children. I found this hotel to be one of the best we have stayed in. The room was clean and spacious. The food was excellent catered for everyone. Pool was clean. Overall I would recommend this hotel for anyone to stay at. The entertainment at night at the hotel was excellent. Only a very short walking distance to the centre of Salou - Really enjoyed and would certainly go back Northern Ireland

Stayed here in Regina Gran hotel for a week on the 16th June. I went with my sister and had a great holliday. The room was a nice standard size room, the bathroom was quite big, although the beds were a bit hard. Beds would suit people with bad backs. We had a nice pool view which was lovely. The staff spoke good english, were very nice, polite and helpful. The room was always very clean, the beds were made every day and we had fresh towels in our room too. Couldn't fault the hotel at all, apart fom the lack of sunbeds. That was the only problem but everything else was great. The food was was very good too. There was food to suit everyone, including vegetarians. For breakfast there was a huge variety of food to choose from. There was a traditional Irish breakast, bacon, eggs, sausages, toast and much more. There was a lot of fruit juices, tea and coffee. For dinner there was also a great variety such as steak, turkey, lamb, fish, burgers, salads, roast dinners and a lot more. The desserts were to die for. Too much to choose from. There was something to suit everyone, even fussy eaters. The pool was a good size, big enough for everyone. I was dissapointed there weren't enough of sunbeds. I had to make sure to get up early to get one. The hotel was very central, the beach was only a ten minute walk away. The shops and reataurants were only a 5-10 minute walk. The local busses were only a 5 minute walk. Port Aventura was the high-light of our holliday and was just a 15 minute walk or you can get a shuttle train to and from the theme park. It is an amazing theme park. There are rides there to suit all people of all ages from children to adults. If you are going to Regina Gran hotel, Port Aventura is well worth a visit. Overall we had a great holliday and are booking to go back there next year. I'm Only A Teenager(13) It Was The Best Holiday i was ever on! Pool Always Clean,Good Lifeguards, great Entertainment My Brother Is A HUGE Golf Fan so the mini golf was great for him . .Staff were really nice to me and my brother.Food was ok,Not the best mostly we went down the town for our brekkie Go to a Place Called Bell Tavaran!! Lovely People There!! Great Things For Kids . . Park,Golf,Game Room With Internet,Tennis Court,Football Court and and indoor and outdoor pool with Children pool Only 15 Minute walk to Portaventura but is a tiring walk can get a little white and blue train to take you up!! Overall great hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Myself, husband and 2 children (aged 9 & 5) booked to go to the Regin Gran in July 2008! as it had mixed reviews i was unsure as to what it was going to be like. The hotel was spotless, food EXCELLENT! my daughter is a fussy eater so i thought there wudnt be anything there for her but i was wrong! the food was gorgeous and had plenty of choice every night! the entertainment was what i expected it to be, not fantastic but ok. the hotel is situated about 10 mins walk from the centre. this was my 2nd time in Salou but my 1st time at this hotel and i would def go back! Dont let the bad reviews put you off as the Regin Gran is a lovely hotel! I travelled to Salou with my husband and 2 children aged 10 and 7. I have to say that we have extremely high standards - and this hotel was excellent. The room we had was sufficient for the 4 of us - after all you only sleep and get dressed in it. It was comfortable, clean and linen and towels were changed daily. The food was excellent. The people who stay it was digusting must be of the chip and burger brigade. It is extremely well thought of. There is salad, healthy options, two sections of hot food and a childrens table. The dessert table is excellent. The wine in the hotel is not that expensive in comparison to british hotels - we paid approximately £5.50 - £8.00 for a good bottle of wine in the hotel. It was a little walk to the sea front - approximately 10 minutes - but it was very pleasant. The beach and sea is excellent for children. We would definitely visit again. Returned home on the 3rd August after a 10 day break, firstly the fault if you book half board you have to pay for drinks with your meal but not at breakfast. The rooms were clean and we had a suite which had 2 bathrooms which is ideal if like us you have 2 teenagers, they were cleaned every day to a high standard. The reception staff are very helpful and they spoke quite good English, if you get to the pool at about 9.30 you should have no problem getting a sunbed in fact we got 3 everyday. And finally the food if you can't find something you like you must be a very fussy eater, loads of choice and friendly staff. And the waiters at the pool bar were a good laugh. The entertainment wasn't too bad but we went into town most nights. Just came bak from the Regina yesterday and I miss it loads! It was undoubtly my best holiday ever...there was three adults and one teenager in our group and everybody agreed that it was amazing! We stayed for a week and I must admit that before leaving I was growing nervous about the hotel having read some reviews on this, but I can honestly say I dont know what everybody was complaining about! The staff are friendly and helpful. The reception is lovely, with white leather sofas and a shop selling newspapers and souveniers. Most of the tourists were Dutch or Irish. The apartments could have been bigger, but it was clean and done the job!The food in the hotel was absolutely fabulous. We were half board,so we got breakfast and evening dinner, and although the breakfast started and finished uite early for lazy me (8 o clock to 10 o clock) but it was faultless! It had something for even the fussiest of eaters!Personally I ate endless crossaints and pastries everyday, along with a hot chocolate! The other members of my group ate sausages and bacon everyday, and there was even chips on offer! There was also buns, biscuits, fruit and lots more available. The evening dinners were probably one of the highlights of my day-they were AMAZING!There was a large selection of foods, and personally I ate the spagetti bolonase or pasta every night, but steaks and chicken and vegetables and lots more were available. There were theme nights some nights, including mexican and fish. The desserts were amazing, and such a variety! There was different cakes, profetoroles and ice creams and many more...and i cant forget the AMAZING white chocolate sauce! The pool looked small, but it was fine and I spent many an hour there relaxing on my lilo! There is a games room with internet, but a euro for ten mins was expensive!Overall a great hotel! While visiting Barcelona we thought we would go to the Theme Park at Port Aventura close to the centre of Salou. It was just a couple of days out so we decided to look around before booking any accommodation. We thought Salou was horrible, full of Brits who for the most part were drinking cheap booze as if it were going out of fashion. We decided on the Regina Gran Hotel as it looked clean and well kept on the outside and was advertised as 4 star. After chatting to the receptionist the best rate she had was for B&B even though we would have preferred room only. - she gave us free car parking to compensate. The rate we received was €45 per couple per night. The room was clean and although close to a busy road the double glazing was good, couldn't hear any noise on a night. There were several pools, an Outdoor for adults, a Childrens Pool and an Indoor Pool. There was also a kids play area. Having paid for the breakfasts we decided to try them and while the dining room was heaving there was a great choice of food and plenty of it. For what we paid, I don't think we could have had better value even if we had paid double the price. We have just returned from a week in Salou and found the Regina Grand to be topclass. Our family of 2 adults and 5 children aged 8 to 15 years all had a great holiday. We found staff pleasant and helpful, very child friendly , especially restaurant staff, esp.Pedro whom the children loved. Food was great, although it sometimes needed reheated but as there were three microwaves available this was not a problem. Since restaurant was self service it was great as kids could try different foods, ie crab, octupus, paella, stirfry, fish etc or return for chips and pasta. The salad bar and deserts were to die for. As season was early ,hotel was quiet at beginning of week but very busy at Easter weekend with mainly Spanish but some British and Irish. Entertainment was nightly and KIds animators were excellent. Rooms were cleaned daily and hotel was spotless. We had a problem with our room card which was fixed within10 mins of reporting. Also we asked for extra pillow for the sofa bed and got it from the cleaners that day. gm co. down Just returned from a great week at this hotel, with my husband and 12 year old son. It was what we wanted, away from the pub/disco scene. Very family friendly, our son met other kids to play with in the evenings or at the pool during the day. Staff were very nice and helped us with any queries we had. We ate in the restaurant every night, but one, when we took a day trip. The theme park is only a fifteen minute walk away or there is a blue train goes from the front of the hotel every hour. Beach is also about a fifteen minute walk. Could be quicker for those with longer legs. For those who need it there is an ATM in the hotel lobby. Would recommend to all. I would definitily recommend the Regina Gran hotel in Salou. We stayed from the 17th April to the 24th April 2007. We found the hotel to be very clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The food was fairly good and there was always several choices available. The hotel had activities organised for children every evening and our little boy of 2 really enjoyed this. I would have no problem staying in this hotel again in the future I have stayed in this htl twice and loved it both times. Our first visit was in May 2005, when I brought my Husband, daughter of 3 years, my mum and mother- in-law (lucky me), and then again in April 2006. We had a ball. We flew fron Dublin - Reus with Ryanair and jumped into a Taxi (which cost us approx 30euros each way) and were at our Hotel in about 10 mins, it was great. When we arrived our rooms were ready for us straight away, which does not happen very often. We found our rooms to be very clean and spacious. Our rooms were serviced every day with clean towels and the beds and rooms cleaned. The Restaurant was a good size, but could get very busy towards the end of serving. We found there to be pently of food to suit everyone and it was warm enough. It did start to repeat come the end of the holiday, but what do you expect there is only so much food that can be cooked. For the rest of the hotel, swimming pool was a very good size, there was also a kiddies pool (both were quite cold at that time of the year) they also had an indoor heated pool, with a gym beside it. There was live entertainment every nite with a mini disco beforehand for the younger clients. Good size lounge and a smaller Pub/bar at the end off the lounge. The area where the htl is situated is approx 10-15 mins from the beach and the town centre and the Portadventura is approx 20-30 mins walk. IT IS WELL WORTH A VISIT, WILL GO BACK We wanted a family holiday with a short flight (via Ryanair), which accomodated our party & offered alternatives to just the sun (just in case it rained). I'm please to state the Regina Gran & Salou offered all these points. We stayed for 9 nights and enjoyed every day, even though we had a few days mixed weather. Hotel :- First impressions were very good.....we saw many hotels during the coach drop-off's (this cost 5.6 euros per person) from the airport; the Regina Gran looked to have one of the best locations & best appearances. We stayed half board and found this to be very good value for money. The selection was very good (all served via 5 x buffet counters). Admittedly the food was not Michelin Star standard, however it was all fresh, the cooked food was all hot & the variety was good. We appreciated the fact that the hotel offers the option to choose either dinner or lunch. This allowed us to eat out on an evening & ensured that we sampled the local food. I have read several reports which state the staff had a bad attitude, however we did not experience any problems. In fact we would like to compliment the hotel & staff on the following........ 1. On one occasion our youngest son suffered an accident at the poolside. The lifeguard was on hand immediately, he was prepared with his first aid kit and treated the cut to his head. Once the lifeguard had carried our son to reception, the lady on reception called the hospital & an ambulance arrived within 5 minuites. Once we returned from the hospital (+ 2 stiches), they were all keen to check that he was feeling well. 2. We went to reception and raised concern's over the A/C in our room, in response a man from maintenance visited our room & resolved the problems within approx 30 mins. 3. We booked our accomodation via an internet agent and made several requests (inc. low floor, pool view, adjoining rooms & early check in). We recieved each request, with the exception of the early check in, however our room was available around 12.30pm which wasn't bad. 4. We had an early departure on our last day, therefore we asked for early morning calls & taxi reservations. Both were completed and the taxi were actually waiting for us. 5. Cleaners were friendly & provided a service on a daily basis. Resort :- Admittedly Salou is not the trendiest resort on the Med, however its a good family destination and offers a good mix. There's a lovely promonade (very wide), kids parks, climbing frames, a couple of nice tapa's bars & plenty of child friendly British Pubs. We visited the Port Aventura themepark on the couple of days (when we had overcast skies). This was an excellent option and we all had fun. We bought out tickets in the UK (7 days for the price of 3) and this helped save money. The food & drink in the park were reasonably priced. The park does not offer the glitz of the Universal themeparks in Florida, however we prefered it in comparison to Legoland or Alton Towers. Summary :- Well worth a visit if your looking for a no fuss, low cost family holiday ! as most read the reviews but went with an open mind- 2 adults and 3 late teens!! on arrival hotel looked great - had to wait for rooms but were able to put luggage in special room to allow us to have a look round. 1st impressions - hotel was clean with a nice size pool and surprisingly sunbeds free at mid-day!!! little did we know the hotel was NOT anywhere near full. the good.... the food was more than you could want - breakfast was full english - funny bacon and sausages but lots of it, toast.tea, coffee juices also continental breakfast so i am sure that even a fussy eater could go away with a full belly. carvery meat every night and fresh cooked steaks, turkey or lamb each night, plenty of choice should you want chips or pasta and an excellent choice of desserts. once small complaint things were not very hot mind you they did have a microwave so we made good use of it. THE BAD the room were a nice size for 2 but a bit cramped for 3 adults so be warned not many hangers so if you need to hang your clothes take some. the air conditioning well i think i can loosly call it that. this was the worse part of the whole holiday we had it set to zero and on 24hr a day from when we arrived and 2 weeks later the room was still warm - even after 3 visit for a repair. we heard others had also complained about the a/c so if you want good a/c perhaps not this hotel? we booked also based on the entertainment this hotel was ment to have - not once in 2 weeks were there any daytime activities we had to go to another hotel to get any - very poor - there was only 2 nights they had childrens entertainment on before the main show- which were at best ok - other than the snake show which was great . the reason given was they said the hotel was not busy enough! it was full from about the 4th day of our stay... sunbeds - once the hotel is fullish no chance the pool is far from olympic size and not enough beds. if its hot and you want the pool be there by 10 o/c. salou itself is nice but watch for the guys offering you whackybaccy all the time!! bit of a pain and not what i expected from salou. beaches are great but get very busy . best place for a coffe has got to be Fargis Ice Cream parlour on the beach front - expensive but great coffee and ice creams I was a bit apprehensive as some reviews were not very positive. The beds were fine, not concrete. Food, plenty of choice, maybe a bit warmer but all very edible. Not quite a 4* but I suppose our 4*'s are different. Just a couple of reception staff/waiters/waitress were not very smiley but not rude either. All the other staff were lovely. The pool was fabulous and my boyfriend and I had a lovely view over the pool. It was a very short 10 minute walk to the beach. The only problem with the hotel was some of the other guests not being very courtous at night time with a lot of slamming of doors shut but that is not the hotels fault. I think this would suit many types of people, especially families. Was really worried what to expect, as some reviews were scary.. Have to say best Holiday ever, reception was very friendly/helpful, as was restaurant staff, No tea/coffee facilities, bring a travel kettle, as we did.. Wide variety of foods to cater for all taste,s.. Always something different each day. Salads, deserts to die for.. Beds are a little hard, very good for bad back, had a front of hotel view, and it was also much quieter..They even have a special room with showers, which you can use after checkout at 10am, they even provide towels, shampoo, and shower gel..Hope to go back again, Buddy,s bar a great place for a drink, or a good steak Hi , This hotel overall was very good the buffet was good it was a vaired dinner, always hot. Had a bit of bother at the start of holiday. Air con was switched off and heating was on. Therefore it was roasting at night, but we all complained and it was put back on. This hotel is very near portaventura, 15 min walk. Pool was nice, there was entertainment at night, different themes each night. The entertaiment is more suited for older people but i would recomend this hotel. Returned to Regina Gran second year in a row, loved it just as much as last year. Stayed for two weeks this year ( 2 x adults, 1 x child ) Never got bored with the food, fabulous breakfasts and evening meals. Fantastic choices for all, desserts to die for. Irish/English tastes catered for...Something lovely for everyone. Not for anyone watching their figures !! Rooms very clean and comfortable, fridge a bonus eventhough you were charged for this, take minibar option more value for money. Staff all really friendly especially in restaurant . Pools lovely abit of a nightmare trying to get sunbeds, should be more strict with people leaving their towels to reserve beds and then going away for a few hours. This was by far the only major problem with the hotel. Close to everything but far away enough to be able to relax. Children enjoy kids club and games. Would go back there again in the future. Have recommended it to all my friends and family. Location - Well situated about 10 mins walk from Salou centre, the promonade and also very handy for the train station & Portaventura. Hotel - Lovely hotel. Worthy of 4* Star. Clean, well equipped, good facilities. Friendly helpful staff. Entertainment on most nights. Food was really nice lots of it and great choice. We stayed for 5 nights half board and were never tired of the food. The paella was to die for! Rooms - Spacious, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Good aircon too. I'm a fussy 4* traveller and I would definately recommend this hotel & go back to it! Hi! I have spent two weeks in Salou: end of April till May 10th. Regina is located 10 minutes from the sea, 15 minutes walk till Port Aventura Park. You will be able to see the ride Condor even from the balcony if you on the 4th floor. Reception staff is polite and helpful enough re such things as trains schedule, shops, towns near Salou to visit and so on. Thank you much for recommendations! Rooms are ok, no problem with cleaning during we stayed there with a friend. Note: picnic is not provided, only early breakfast is possible. I have stayed in Regina on breakfasts and dinners. Dinners is better :) Well, food is ok if you don`t expect smth delicious enough. Animation is also provided, but in my opinion some modern music should be included as well just to dance a little bit. Brazilian show was good, but not russian as it has nothing to do with russian music or dances :))) The pool area is rather good.... I will definetely recommend the hotel to people who want to relax a bit from the noise... It will be a bit boring for people in the early 20 th :)) If you decide to stay in Regina better to choose a room with pool view. My daughter, sister and I alll stayed for 1 week and could not fault the hotel at all. There was three of us in the one room. Twin beds and pull out double sofa. we had more than enough room to move about in. Great big balcony. The staff at the hotel could not be more helpful and nothing was a problem to them. We were halfboard and again there was always something to eat and I am afraid the sweets were to die for. We all put on an extra few pounds. The restruant was busy but the opening times were great. We had a great time and I am hoping to go back with my daughter and husband in June. Hi, My husband, 2 children(ages 7 and 5) and I have just returned from Regina and I really don't know what previous people complained about. The hotel was clean and tidy with fresh towels supplied every day. The food was excellent with a great choice every night and the themed nights gave great variety. If you left the dining room in the evening still hungry it really was your own fault, as there was more that enough to choose from. Danny one of the animation staff was excellent and he always made time for the children (and adults as well). The entertainment in the hotel at night was great and always kept the children interested. I must agree that not all the reception staff and dining room staff were very friendly but we shouldn't knock them all because of 1 or 2 rude ones. While there we visited Portaventura and this was really worth the money, it is a must for any family as there is plenty to do for all ages. All in all this was a fabulous holiday and when we hopefully return to Salou in a couple of years we will definitely stay in the Regain Gran again. Party of 10 Kids ranging from 5 to 15. Stayed half board. Hotel rooms slightly small but we were only sleeping in them so didn't annoy us too much. Food was plentiful and good but might have got a bit fed up with choice after 14 days. Hotel itself was excellent, brilliang staff on reception and pool bar, rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily. Had to queue for sun beds but not untel 9ish and only for 5 mins so okay too. Only problem was terrible reps from First Choice who wouldn't tell us about hotel run kids club wanted us to travel to another hotel to one of theirs ! and didn't book a big enough bus to take our luggage to the airport so it all had to travel in another coach. We didn't get it back for an hour Great security that in todays climate.!"!"!! SO DEFINITLY GO TO REGINA GRAN BUT NOT WITH FIRST CHOICE. This hotel is brilliant. The reception, pools, eating areas, facilities, rooms...all are great. I took my girlfriend on a 4 night break and really enjoyed it. The price was amazing for the quality of the hotel. It was easy to get to from the airport, and within walking dstance of the beach, shops, bars and everything else. The only thing i wouldnt give top marks to would be the staff. They were friendly and organised, just they didnt seem very helpful when we needed info. Id fully reccomend you go to the Regina Gran Hotel though..the breakfast was awesome too, and the outdoor pool is really smart. Great hotel. the food is poor in my opinion, o not go by the pictures for the selection of meats salads were quite good. puddings were great if you like pastry but the only fresh fruit on offer was a bowl of oranges, kiwis, sometimes bananas. tice in 1 week we had grapes but they ran out quickly, no melons at all i was disappointed. you have to pay to hire the fridge in the room, pay to hire the tv remote control. we paid 25 euro for the safe but because we had insurance we got the 25 euro back at the end of our stay. its a good 20 minute walk into town and the beachfront, which is flat for pushchairs or people with walking difficulties, plenty of toilts on the seafront. the hotel in may was mainly focused on spanish and french tourists however this may change as the season progresses. would i go back again no!!. Just back. Full of Spanish pensioners some who were very rude. Because Hotel busy my friend and I were seated next to them at Dinner and they were not very happy had to get head waitress to explain to them that she had seated us there. We were happy with the food. Plenty of choice. Didn't do packed lunches. The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels were changed every day as well. No tea or coffee facilities in room. Hotel charged 40euros for safe. Fridge 2euros a day and it didn't have freezer part for ice cubes. Didn't bother with TV but you had to pay for button basher. These things are usually included in a 4star Hotel. Even in the Bar the waiters one in particular had no people skills. Felt if they could work out the more pleasant they are they would get a tip. The girl at reception short blonde hair was very pleasant. All in all we had good holiday good location. But it should not be classed as a 4star Hotel. If you do go just take your chill pills with you. OK, I've reviewed this hotel before and have previously found it to be very good. For those people who beleive Gran mean grand you would be wrong in spanish it means big. The hotel offers lots of facilities but during the summer holidays they simply can not cope witht he numbers of people staying there. In particular I personally found it had too many kids, not enough sun beds available; and don't even think about putting a chair on the grass because you get told off. Not quite what I wanted from a holiday! The cafe bar is reasonably priced, food mainly snacks & icecream. The evening entertainment is dire, I could not beleive somany people stayed in to watch it. Drinks at the bar are very pricey, much better to go into town. We found the old town cheaper than the bars & shops local to the hotel. One place we did go to and liked very much was Sitges, it has a sizeable gay community but this did not bother us, it's a quaint place cobbly with historical interests, with reasonably priced restaurants and tapas bars of the traditional kind, not the ones for tourists. also has a fair size town a bit hilly, You can go there by train. Definately worth a visit. Would I stay in this hotel again - yes but only if it was out of season. Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel for 7 nights in September. We had read some bad reviews before we travelled but we were hoping it wouldn't be too bad. After all it is a 4 star hotel...... The hotel is nowhere near 4 star. I would rate it at a 2 or 3 star. It is not a dirty hotel by any means, but it could do with a revamp, to bring it a bit more up to date. The rooms are very basic. We stayed in a 5 star hotel in Madeira last year and it was like a palace compared to this, and it cost us the same price too! It was fantastic. The worst complaint about the hotel really was the staff at reception. They were not at all pleasant or helpful. The day we checked out we never got a "good bye" or "thank you", not even "did you enjoy your stay"? The entertainment was ok, more geared toward kids than adults. If you are looking for a reasonably priced family holiday, then this hotel is fine. I would not recommend it for young couples at all. Just came back after 10 days-only problem we had was the noise in the hotel after 12.30am next door always came in 1 or 3 am and shouted and screamed with a kid as well- nothing done about it. Spoke to reception about a man knocking at bedroom door but they failed to understand after saying they spoke english. We noticed the food for small children very limited seemed to be there weekends but not in the week as we had none it did not matter. Otherwise room lovely and very large bathroom and clean bed and towles every day Although advertised as a 4-star hotel, our partry of 4 adults would contend that the hotel is really only worthy of a 3-star rating. It has plenty of facilities but many of these require extra payments, e.g. fridge, remote control, use of the indoor pool, etc. The rooms were clean and tidy and cleaned daily. However the beds were like bricks and only one pillow was supplied with each. The bathroom was specious and clean with a reasonably functioning shower. The hotel in general was spick and span. Our biggest complaint was about the food. All meals were buffet style and there certainly was plenty to eat. However many guests commented on the fact that portions tended to be lukewarm or even cold, thus making the chosen meal much less appetising. Also no tea or coffee was available at Lunch or Dinner times, the machines being mysteriously covered over after Breakfast each morning. The hotel had a unique method of allocating sunbeds. These were chained in piles of twelve each night at 18.00 and only released at 10.00 the next morning. The system worked well but many guests would have liked them available from 09.00. Regarding the entertainment, it varied from the brilliant (Polynesian Show) to the pathetic (The Grease Experience and Men v Women). The poor sound system was the main cause of annoyance for we simply couldn't make out what was being said or sung at times. The staff at Reception were pleasant and helpful where as in other areas a few smiles and a reduction in the number of shrugged shoulders would not go amiss. The hotel is situated on the inland outskirts of Salou with a 20 minute walk to either the beach or to Port Aventura. Not too far to walk until you factor in the hot weather!!! I have just retured from a weeks holiday in Salou. This hotel was very clean. Rooms were nice and were cleaned daily. There was no tea\coffee making facilites which was a pity. Staff were friendly but some of them had little or no english which was a bit of a problem. The pool was lovely but sun beds got taken the second the pool opened. The hotel is quiet near Portadventura and also within walking distance of Salou town (use back exit from hotel its shorter if going to Salou town). We were on half board basis and I have to say the selection and range of food avaible for kids and adults was absolutley fantastic, you certainly wouldn't be hungry after it and there was always plenty of room in dining room. Overall i would recommend this hotel. Went as a family with a toddler and six year old, for the price this was a good three star hotel but definitely not a four star. We went half board and the food was ok but a little boring, you couldn't eat every night in the hotel. Outside pool was a good size and clean, playground for kids very limited with only one slide and a few rocking toys. Entertainment room for kids very geared towards boys (lots of games involving guns or cars). Not a lot to do in the hotel if the weather is not good. Overall because of price I would recommend for a cheap week but don’t expect any luxury. Stayed at the Regina Gran for 5 nights for Rally Spain. Location quite not far to the centre of town for the bars approx 10-15 mins. Nice Bar bad entertainment all suitable for oaps. Nice poolside area/terrace with bar that opens when they feel like it. The swimming pool had money, batteries and toilet paper on the floor of it (just your usual treasure!!!!). Food ok could be hit or miss in the evening dining room staff terribly rude would not let you sit at a clean table if you were there half an hour before finish of breakfast. Rooms clean and fresh towels every day. Plenty of activites for families and even had an indoor pool for rainy days. Previously stayed in the H10 europa park 3* but definatly miles ahead of this hotel which describes itself as 4*. Would only stay there again if I really had to. We stayed at the Regina Gran for a 10 night stay, our party consisted of 2 adults & an 8 year old boy. We were on a bed n brk basis, so ok, as everyone else we spoke to were half b and found the food all quite bland. The hotel is definitely not 4 star, the rooms were very basic and small and in need of a makeover. The hotel has a kids club but we were unable to find anyone speaking good enough English to tell us where to go to register. All the entertainment at the hotel is in Spanish, and the hotel had a distinct mix of nationalities, which was a bonus as there were very little English guests YIPPEE. Although the brochures state that Port Aventura is a 10 minute walk it is NOT! We used the little blue train which stops outside the front entrance to the hotel every 15 mins. Port Aventura was excellent we booked a 14 day pass thru attractiontix n this was gr8 value for money. I would recommend Salou but not this Hotel. The hotel is in a reasonable position on the outskirts of Salou and looks impressive and new as you approach it. The property is well maintained as are the pool area and gardens. The hotel is non smoking in the communual areas, something all hotels should adopt. We had a double room and a suite and although the rooms were adequate in decor and size they just didn't resemble a 4* hotel. The beds are rock solid and uncomfortable and the pillows mishappen and uncomfortable. You needed to pay 40 euros for safe hire, a few euros for the fridge key (ours were open anyway) and a deposit for the tv remote. Now the bad part...the food. The food was highly repetitive and cold although a microwave was provided. The meat was adequate and there were always a few choices but only 1 veg selection each night and for 6 nights chips were the only potato choice. Puddings were cheap and cheerfull, again not up to 4* standards. The entertainment lounge was ok and the staff quick to serve you and helpfull as were the reception staff. The entertainment itself was typical of spanish holiday hotels and was ok. The indoor pool required the wearing of flipflops and a hair cap, for sale at 5 euros if required. If you just wanted to use the jacuzzi then you could if you bought slippers for 2 euros ! (you get to keep them). Salou in November is VERY quiet so don't expect much to be going on and a lot of the shops are closed, this was expected by us but worth a mention incase you think it will be in full swing. The hotel is probably best summed up as an adequate 3* but never a 4*. I would have stayed at my favourite Dorada Palace but it was closed at this time of year.

Beds were like sleeping on concrete. no tea/coffee facilties in room and you had to pay a hire charge for the fridge. TV channels were all spanish. Food was terrible unless you have a medditerranian pallate.....we were booked in half board for our honeymoon and didn't eat there once. The entertainment was rubbish - a man on a keyboard singing songs in spanish all the time or flamenco music played for the line dancing fanatics. All the tourist info boards were in spanish only. The hotel had a few French guests, did not hear anyone British, the majority of people were Spanish senior citizens.... good hotel good food but altogether not a four star hotel . no air con until summer time so had to sleep with door open . room to small for family with two kids . sofa bed useless . no coffee facilities . bed sheets not changed just tidied . no boards in english and full of old spanish couples . very unhelpful front desk staff and just no help for families NO WAY is this a 4* hotel! We stayed for a week 7th to 13th July and it was just awful... We are a family of two adults and two children (when i say children, our son is 14 and our daughter is 10). The room is TOTALLY unsuitable for a 'family of four'. At most a family of two adults and a very small child. Best just two adults and leave the couch pushed in is your only hope! There were two single beds and a pull-out couch/bed. When the pull-out bed was out there was about 10 inches to access the small balcony. The bathroom was almost as big as the total living area. I checked that it just wasnt us were in a small room but all the rooms on our floor seemed to be exactly the same size and layout! The food was OK..got a bit boring after a few days. We were half board (or should that be bored!). We ended up eating out a good few nights just to get away from the place. Their 'evening entertainment' is a joke for most of the evenings. We were particularly looking forward to the 'Grease' show...it was so bad you couldnt hear it and it was too bad to even describe here! Anyhow, Im sure not all hotels are like this in Salou but it has put me off Salou for a very long time! Other couples from 'home' I chatted to were of the very same opinion... On arrival to this hotel rooms were not ready. Had to wait an hour until room was ready. Had to go to the bar to wait with children who were hot and tired. Reception/staff were unpleasant and didnt speak alot of english which made commuication difficult. The rooms were cleaned every day and new towels changed daily but the beds were like bricks. In the room there is a tv and fridge for both you have to pay for 2.50 euros for hire of the fridge per day which i think is scandaless. Along with the reception/staff the medical pool attendants we found out after being stung by a bee do not speak a word of english all they could say was "i do not speak english" i was then sent to the reciption desk, who werent much better. Food was quite good, but very limited for children and staff are very unhelpful and unpleasant. At breakfast You have choice of water from a machine, but later on at evening time they cover the machine up so you have to buy bottled water another expensive. The sun loungers what a crap system there is to little beds for the amount of people staying there. The loungers are stacked and chained until the lifeguard (mr moody) unlocks them and then all hell breaks loose trying to scramble to get beds. The childrens playground is a joke. Two slides and 3 rockers. Not good enough for a "so called" 4**** hotel. Was very disappointed on the overall experiance at this hotel. would not reccomend this hotel to any family. Just returned from a week in this hotel and was not very impressed. First we were given a small double even though we booked a twin room. We got another room with twin beds, which was clean but smelled of stale smoke for the whole week. It had broken air conditioning which we were told was not working in any room in the hotel. There was also an intermittent loud noise of a generator/boiler which was so loud that you could not hear the TV. When we asked to have it fixed they said they would send the maintenance guy but he never turned up. The 'free' indoor pool and sauna was nice but only free between 11-5.30, otherwise there was a 5 euro charge. The restaurant was generally good with a wide range of food available. It got very busy at times and the wine and sangria were very over priced for the quality. Staff - except one girl, were extremely unhelpful, unfriendly and gave incorrect information. The hotel is a long walk from the centre and the beach and parking around the hotel was difficult to find. You had the option of paying 12 euro a day for garage parking. Overall we were disappointed with this hotel as it sounded great on paper. Firstly, let me say that my husband and I paid £280 for a week half board including flights and transfers so we wern't expecting anything marvellous especially after having read the reviews. On arrival at 1030am we were impressed by the general appearance of the Regina. Booked in at Reception only to be told our room would not be available until 2pm. There is a courtesy room for luggage so we kicked our heels until we could get in. Our room was clean and adequate but was badly in need of decoration but this being the end of the season I guess it will be done for next year. Clean bathroom with shower, bidet, toilet and washbasin, clean towels, soaps, shampoo and shower gel provided. We had a fifth floor room overlooking the pool and the sea in the distance. (The view from the back of the hotel is dire so ask for pool side if booking). The dining room had no queues (until our last night, the first day of half term and then it was mayhem to say the least) and was quite impressive with the food presented well. However, it looks a heap better than it tastes so only try small amounts at a time and as it is only luke warm you may need to reheat it in the microwaves provided. Don't expect to get drinks included with your meal. At breakfast there is a tea/coffee machine and fruit juice but at lunch and dinner to have to buy your drinks (oh and don't dare to take your own in with you, trust me - they will soon put you right!!). The staff were very efficient, clearing plates the moment you had pushed them aside but dont expect polite conversation, a good morning or a smile because you will wait a long time). Food repetitive and bland, no tomato sauce so take your own - you will need it. As stated in previous reviews there are a high percentage of Spanish holiday makers, but hey, its their country after all, you wouldn't expect to go to a holiday resort in the UK and find no British people there now would you. As for the entertainment, well each to their own but we thought it was dreadful. Nothing happens till around 10pm and then, if the cabaret turns up, it pretty poor but the advantage is, it only lasts and hour. Oh, if you are a senior citizen who likes to show off your ballroom dancing skills you are well in. From 9pm to 10pm the DJ as such plays music that will be right up your street. Beware if your small children are running around, they will be bowled over by the dancers who seem oblivious of the kids. There is happy hour from 8pm - 9pm with wine and beers BOGOF and with a pint costing 3.20 euros that cheap drinking so stock up. Don't expect entertainment anything like you would from one of the main travel companies, there are no reps on site to provide this. The hotel is a good 15 minutes walk to the beach and a difficult walk too with busy roads to cross and no respect for pedestrians so not ideal for anyone with challenged mobility. The pavements are dangerous with raised paving all over so be careful when walking especially in the dark. Ther aqre no buses from the Hotel to the Beach though I do believe the little train bus runs past in the summer months. We booked an excursion with one of the local companies (there is a kiosk on the beach front) to Barcelona, to Nou Camp Stadium, shopping in Barcelona and to the Magic Fountains at night for 26.90euros. Excellent value and almost half the price of the tour operators. They have a tour guide and air con smart coaches, we would highly recommend. Salou is truly beautiful with miles of flat clean beach, loads of tacky tourist shops and lots of other nice shops and boutiques, plenty of bars and restaurants and some wonderful food. Getting back to the Regina, yes the pool bottom is littered with leaves, paper and other sundry items, and even though we overlooked the pool I didnt once see the surround of it being washed down or sterilised, only lightly swept. I see regular critisism of "not 4 star" but bear in mind that we should not compare with UK star ratings as they are not the same. This hotel would possibly achieve a 3 star in the UK. All in all the hotel is adequate for the amount of time you spend there and we did enjoy our holiday immensely. However, I would not go there if I had children under 10. It is more suitable for couples and the elderly. Nothing to attract teenagers at all. If you are going to Salou you will enjoy it without a doubt, visit the harbour at Cambrills around 4.30pm to see the fishing boats come it, a 10 minute bus ride and well worth the trip. Location on far end of tourist zone, good for peace and quiet not so good for entertainment...bars etc 10mins walk. Hotel decor old and dated, water dripping from ceilings, cramped rooms, paint flaking from walls. Need revamp to call itself 4star. Reception staff hit and miss, some very friendly staff but some rude and dismissive. We had problem with airconditioning, had to ask 3 times before it was fixed, repair was shabby they had stuck unit on ceiling with tape and it fell off during the night just missing the babys head! Entertainment started at 10pm and finished at 11pm, aimed at spanish pensioners... lots of spanish OAPS dancing to songs sang in spanish. Food not great, typical buffett, lots of meat on the bone and boiled potatoes. We ate out most of the time. Been to varoius spanish hotel prevoius, and the food here is poor and certainly not 4 star. Pool area was nice, bar opened and shut when it suited the staff which was a shame coz it was the most pleasant part of the hotel. We didnt pay tour operator prices which I am pleased about, if we had we would have been asking to move to a "proper" 4 star hotel. Basic hotel, location quiet but walking distance (15mins) from beach and restaurants etc so all not lost if you get a cheap deal! Just came back from regina gran hotel after a weeks stay there. I went half board and all in all the food was o.k. but from reading previous reviews I totally agree about the food quality during the week and that of the weekends. When the locals come to town, which is at weekends the food quality was nice but not 4 star quality but it took a dramatic drop when the weekend was over. The staff in the restaurant were very rude to the non spanish and the idea of charging 3 euros for a bottle of water is a joke. For breakfast, you have a fine collection of food and as much drink you need from but when the dinner comes in the evening this is where the hotel takes advantage. Some families around me had to pay over 10 euros a day for water with there dinner when a gallon drum in the local supermarket is 80c. And if you try as parents do to maybe take an apple or orange with you for later for your kids the staff go crazy and I was actually chased after and brought back to the restaurant and embarassed in front of all guests. My big advice to all families going here is to take advantage of the local supermarket and stock up on water, crisps and whatever keeps your kids entertained because the bar takes full advantage when a packet of small crips costs €1.70. The hotel is not a 4 star and is pushing to be a 3 star. The rest of the hotel is fine but remember to bring swim hats and slippers for the indoor pool as here too they take advantage and charge €3 for a hat and €5 for sandles which by the way are compulsory. All in all, Salou is a lovely place and do go to Barcelona but a week in the regina is more than enough. This Hotel looks quite impressive, nice reception area, nice pool and gardens, kids area, decent sized bar area with a stage set up outside. the rooms are basic considering it is classed as a 4 star. While me and my friend were there, we both ended up with bad backs, because they are so uncomfortable. The walls are so thin, that you can hear people next door opening and closing drawers, and even the tap pouring when you are in the bathroom. we stayed on a room only basis, but tried the hotel restaurant one night which cost 12 euros per person, then any drinks on top, which I though was reasonable, but the food was not very good. Anything that should have been cold, wasn't cold enough and the hot food was lukewarm. I would say the only thing that was of 4 star quality was the indoor pool area, saunas, turkish bath, and facilities in the gym, although you have to pay for pool slippers 2 euros and bathing caps 3 euros, which are compulsory. The staff in the restaurant were not very friendly, they were only bothered about the spanish visitors, certainly not the english. I think if you are going to rate a hotel as 4 star, you would at the very least expect to get a decent and comfortable bed and a nice meal. These things were totally missing, making it a 2/3 star in my opinion. I agree with recent reviews concerning the quality of this hotel. The reception staff couldnt care less and the dining room staff dont understand any english, and walk away from you if you ask a question. The food is always cold. One breakfast the hotel water was off so no hot or cold drinks were available, and no apologies offered. The next morning one coffee/tea machine was broken meaning everyone had to queue at the one remaining machine which had no cups or spoons. And when you ask for a cup or spoon they point at the broken machine which is at the opposite end of the room. We had an ant infestation in our room which was cleared up 4 hours later. On our last day we left our luggage in a locked secure room only to arrive back 6 hours later to an unlocked door. The only good point the hotel has, is its proximity to Port Aventura which had no queues and great shows and rides. Go see the new China Town show its amazing. Overall i think this hotel should be a 2 star Where do I start! Arrived thursday 18th August first impression that this was not a four star hotel more a 3 star. Reception very tiny and staff not the most friendliest not very helpful not once did we see a smile on their faces for the duration of the holiday. Rooms and service Rooms adequate, clean enough. Maid serivice never seen anything like, balconies were very rarely swept, not enough towels were left in the bathroom, if you asked for more you never got them so if you find yourself in this situation ring to reception, even for extra pillows, was like trying to get blood form a stone. Shower had a mind of its mind and flooded my batroom floor so had to ring for someone to come and mop it and I was given an explanation on how to use the shower curtain correctly, hmmmm. Best bit was having a balcony on the first floor that overlooked the evening entertainment. Restaurant - Food What a fiasco! Clearly whoever designed the restaurant did it with thier eyes shut. Complete chaos is all I can say. People roaming this way and that way no flow at all, food adequate but not hot if you want to warm your food there is a microwave but personally couldn't be bothered to do this. Most nights had a cooked meal of potatoes, veg and meat with gravy (which was hot). Plenty of selection I dare say and the puddings were lovely. Pool area - HIgh Risk area Sunbeds chained till 9.45 am and then unlocked by the SOS team. This part was very scarey as it was a free for all. Got my fingers trapped whilst trying to get two sunbeds and all because another guy was trying to lift 4 off before I had got mine off, It would be better for the staff to do this. Not enough sunlounge area could have done with getting rid of some of the drinking space area during the day. Water football was played during the day but please be careful as the animacion have this set up in the shallow end of the pool and another safety hazard re small children as the game gets a bit competitive and I did get hit with the ball on the head. Although the room information states no inflatables in the pool they are allowed, people even had 2man rubber dinghys in the pool. Another chaotic part badly designed. Very much a Spanish orientated hotel catering mainly for the Spanish who I have to say were rather ignorant and rude. Best bit of the holiday was the weather sunny for the duration of the 10 nights we were there, and the kids made friends with other children which was great. Not trying to put others off going here but don't have any high expectations have stayed in far better four star hotels. Enjoy the stay it's what you make of your holiday that counts. We stayed at this hotel in September and we were shocked. The beds were like lying on concrete and as we both have bad backs we hardly slept.Hotel staff with the exception of one or two were unhelpful and at times very rude. The food was always cold and ok they had microwaves but not sure you should be reheating a lot of the food like that. The staff could only speak english when it suited them and then you had to pay for extras like fridge, remote control etc.Ihave stayed in 3 star hotels that are far superior to this never again!!!!! Just back from our week in the regina gran and we are still catching up on sleep, the brick (bed) was a nightmare so make a booking with your chiropracter before you go!! We slept on the tiny sofa bed sometimes just so as we could get some sleep. The walls are paper thin in this hotel we could hear our neighbours snooring! And every morinig at approx. 8am we were woken by the cleaners shouting up and down the corridoor slamming doors and moving furniture with a dragging effect, our accomodation was half board so we didnt budget in food costs to the holiday but the buffet style was horrendous, food was cold and a lot of battered foods, chips and bread so hope you like carbs!! So we went out for meals most of the time even though we hadnt budgeted for this. There were a lot of ants in our bathroom coming up from the plug holes and we were covered in bites!!! the bar staff were excellent they worked long hours and couldnt do enough for you, however the reception staff were so ignorant when we were checking out we made it obvious we were not happy and they ignored it and just wanted rid. The rooms have a fridge and a safe but these are not provided you must pay for them both and pay a big deposit for something that should be provided. also the tv channels are all spanish channels so dont count on that for entertainment, also you must pay for the remote control. Just back from a two week holiday in the Regina Grand Hotel in Salou and was never so glad to be back from a holiday! There is nothing Grand about this place, believe me. I travelled with my brother (23), my mother and my daughter (7). Despite looking good on paper, the whole experience left a lot to be desired. When we arrived our room was not ready so we had to wait for three hours before we could get in to it. When we did get in to the room we found it had two single beds and a pull out sofa bed, ALL IN THE ONE ROOM!!!!!! We had to queue to use the wardrobe because if someone was sitting on the side of the bed there wasn’t enough room to open the wardrobe door. My daughter spent the first four days sleeping in between the two single beds with my mother and myself on either side and my brother on the camp bed. Unfortunately as we are all on the larger side of life, we expected to find my brother folded up in the bed one morning!! Eventually we asked to be moved to a larger room, we asked at reception four times and got no help. Don’t expect friendly or polite staff in reception, you’ll be lucky to get a grunt on a good day!! Our rep moved us eventually at a cost of an additional €450 which considering we had paid over €4,000 was a bit Irish to say the least!! The queue for the sunbeds in the morning is a sight to behold! If you were up at 6am you would possibly manage to get a bed that wasn’t chained up and padlocked overnight! The lifeguard would release the beds at 10am and you had to be careful or the whole pile would be lifted off by two well abled men, usually who had arrived at 9.55am unlike the rest of us who had stood around since well before 9am. If you’re not lucky enough to get a bed, the beach is only a short hop on the train, a great little invention that brings you all around Salou for €3 for adults and €1.50 for kids. The beach is immaculate and the fountains are wonderful, my daughter was especially taken with the jet maze where you could walk in the fountain but had to be careful because you didn’t know which jets were going to shoot up next! A great way to wash the sand off too! Considering the pool was closed off for an entire day during our visit and one of the steps leading to the shallow end of the pool was closed for the entire holiday, it's just as well the beach was near enough and nice to spend time on. Forget about kids club or entertainment in the hotel, if you can speak fluent Spanish you’ll be well off. My daughter went the first day and was handed a piece of paper and a box of crayons and sat in the corner on her own, needless to say she didn’t stay. 90% of the shows are in Spanish so we were in bed by about 10 most nights, unheard of when we are on holidays! The Titanic bar is a good spot for entertainment, about 10 mins away and they do a good High School Musical show for the little ones. The rooms are clean and towels changed every day but if you like to have a shower in the morning and again before you go out at night, hide the towels as you will literally be given one per person and no more. The food in the restaurant is, quite frankly, muck. Lots of pasta, cheese sauce and battered fish, and what’s not used at lunchtime is recycled for dinner, badly. Most of the children survived on pancakes with chocolate sauce for breakfast and chips for dinner, ah yes, chips with everything, even breakfast. Don’t expect the staff to be any friendlier here, they literally stand behind you waiting to snap the plate from under your nose as soon as you put down your fork! We eventually stopped eating in the restaurant and found a great Irish bar about 10 mins away called The Harp, a must if you fancy a decent bit of food, their steak is divine. Avoid the Danny Boy Irish Bar on the strip like the plague, rude and unhelpful staff who won’t let you in if you aren’t eating. Port Aventura is ok if you have older kids but not much for the younger ones to do. The fireworks are a must, even if they are a bit late in the evening. The trip to Barcelona is a bit disappointing, save your money and do the tour of Croke Park in Dublin instead, altogether a much more impressive stadium! The lack of a tour guide in the Nucamp really lets it down as you are just left to wander around the stadium with nobody telling you what’s what etc. You will need to search for the area where you can get your picture taken with the European Cup and if you want to buy a football shirt, wait till you get to the city as the queues are far shorter and the jerseys are still 100% authentic as it is a registered Barcelona FC shop. Salou is not a place I would visit for a quiet holiday! After 7 it’s impossible to go to the strip, especially with young children. It’s full of young, drunk people falling out of pubs and into clubs. A great place for stag and hen parties and for gangs of blokes or girls out for two weeks of madness. Not a great place for families unfortunately. We heard on several occasions about children being approached on the strip and one attempted abduction while we were there, so watch your little ones like hawks. All in all, we were very disappointed with the entire holiday, the rep was less than useless and we won’t be travelling to Salou any time soon!!!!! just back on 19oct after a week in regina gran never stayed in a more boring hotel in my life, all right if you like luke warm food and staff who rather you were spanish than overseas visitor, beds were very lumpy, bed linen&towels changed once balcony was never cleaned despite bird dropping all over hand rail seems staff did not care, restaurant was a bit of a night mare selfservices by the time you went from counter to another your food was realy cold, but lurking in the corner was a micro which was not the best anyway. This hotel is rated 4* more like 2+or 3* granted the lobby, bar, downstairs toilets are clean but you expect abit more from staff who rate themself as4*..Anyone using the indoor after 6pm must pay 5euro that includes guest other charges fridge=2euro per day, key for fridge=3euro deposit, tv remote=5euro deposit not bad for 4* pint 2;90 vodka dash of white 6;euro. I realy hope you enjoy this hotel more than we did but i,m sure you will like Salou plenty of bars, clubs happy holiday were every you chose. We have stayed in Regina Gran Hotel on May, 20, 2006 , coming from France by car to continue vacation. We have booked this 4 stars hotel well in advance . First of all our room was in a very bad shape, terrible, old bed for 2 people, but not the full size bed , insted they put two twin beds next to each other, so you can fill the metal inside of it.Old beddings as well, towels and blankets were thorn a part. Noise level was unaceptable, you could hear people from the next room doing their toilet and shower tasks.Terrible noise in the morning from the holloway, where kids run and scream like there was no tomorrow. So, you can forget about quiet, restfull morning.Maid was trying to get in to our room by 8 A.M., even with DO NOT DISTURB sign on our door.Service at the reception was very poor anad unprofessional,no one smiles or greets you. Finally the food was so bad, that we had to go for a breakfast to a local cafes and forget that we had it at all included with our room rate. On the last day of our stay, my personal hair care product by Kerastase were taken from my bathroom by our cleaning lady.We have reported to the Hotel manager but no one even cared to say SORRY! But we were wery sorry to stay in this very unfriendly place. Definatelly not a 4****Hotel, more like 1*.Would not recommend it yo anyone. Also , this Hotel needs a new management and upgrade in customer service.
