Holiday Inn Jonquiere

I went to Jonq to visit friends.

I paid $139 for the room, and it was really nice. I was even given a free cocktail because I was priority club.

Room was nice... nice pillows, bed, and bathroom. Great service too... but you gotta speak french, which I do.

Overall... all was great. Great location, easy to find, and for Jonquiere, you cannot get any better.

One of the tallest buidings in the area, the Holday Inn is easy to spot, even from the motorway that passes it (and which has very convenient exits for this hotel). The surroundings of the hotel are uninspring, but the direct connection to a suburban shopping centre cvould be considered a plus. The hotel itself does most things reasoably well, although there are some issues with maintenance.

Jonquiere is best accessed via the airport at Bagotville, 15kms away. The best accomodation is found at the Holiday Inn ... tallest building for miles, so its very hard to miss for a first time visitor. It is worth paying the slightly higher price to stay at the Holiday Inn ahead of other accomodation. Other features for the business traveller are: high speed wireless internet access, where they supply the software and interface card for Can$10 per day, and most of the staff can communicate well in English as well as their preferred French. All of the hotel's signs etc are in French and English. The down side for a non-French speaking person is that much of the tourist information is only available in French. Obviously the local "tourist board" are not convinced that everyone else in the world have not learnt French as their main language. Most people will attempt to assist and speak English if you first greet them with a "bon jour" and then explain that you can not speak anymore French. Beautiful in autumn, however do bring your wet weather and warm clothes.
