Spent one night here in June. Hotel is fairly new, microwaves and mini fridge in the rooms, Smart Breakfast etc. Hotel was clean, staff was super friendly. Location is really good, right off I-5 (rooms are well insulated, we were in a room towards the interstate, and did not hear the traffic). Good location for visitors to Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens, as we were. I would recommend this hotel. I stayed at this hotel in September 2005. This is one of the nicer hotels in the Centralia area and the price reflects this. The room was clean and contained a refrigerator and microwave. There was high speed internet available in each room. The breakfast in the morning (usually of good quality and choice in most HIExpress locations) was excellent. There are not many dining options around (you have to drive an exit or two on the interstate to find anything) but several pizza places deliver for those not interested in driving out. I would stay here again. I found the staff to be very helpful as well. This isn't the best Holiday Inn I have stayed in..but is in a good location. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, staff friendly and the typical breakfast bar. Call the hotel direct for the best rate. They have a small indoor pool and the jacuzzi was hot! There weren't many choices for hotels in this area and the one that we were planning on staying at (Best Western in Chehalis) only allowed a 2 night minimum (absurd for such a small town!), so we book here because it seemed like the 2nd best choice. We stayed for one night and can't say anything bad about it. It is certainly not fancy or anything special, but it was very clean, seemed fairly new and had friendly people working there. Also, it was quiet and inexpensive. We had just stayed at an expensive hotel in downtown Seattle where we slept horribly, paid an exboritant amount of money and the staff were terribly rude. This hotel was 100% better (which is REALLY sad) and was the first good night's sleep we'd had in 4 days. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the Centralia/Chehalis area. FYI: The above average rating I gave is based on the fact that it was above average for this type of hotel. This is a mediocre at best Holiday Inn Express hotel. Best feature is location, halfway between Seattle and Portland. Close to freeway, so convenient but noisy. Staff seem to have their minds on other things besides guests; I had to wait and have a room cleaner find someone to give me my bill at checkout. OK for an overnight stay only. Next time, I will look for something better 10 miles up or down the road. This was one of the plainest Holiday Inn Expresses of the several we have stayed at over the years. Pretty much a big box. Definitely a no frills experience. The continental breakfast followed the same theme. The hotel is located right off the freeway but our Garmin GPS couldn't find it even though it had been around for nine years. The area surrounding the hotel is not the ritzy part of town - quite the opposite. The only place nearby to eat was P-J's pizza across the street. Their pizzas are top notch and delicious but a bit pricey for a family. We took ours to our room so we could have a beer with it. The left-overs were great for lunch the next day and just as tasty. The person occupying check -in desk is a crap-shoot. They varied from dull and lifeless to cheery and attentive. This hotel is fine for a crash-only experience. It was clean, quiet, and we slept well. After all, that is the bottom-line purpose of a stay.

I stayed at this property for four weeks and one word sums it up. FRUMPY. The first room had a table that was so wobbly that if it wasn't pushed against the wall it would have fallen over. One of the rooms had an internet connection so far away from the work desk that even a 25 foot cable would not reach the desk. When I reserved a "Jacuzzi Suite" through the HI Website, I was given a 'Jetted Tub Feature' room. One room had a door so out of adjustment, that you had to run your shoulder into it to get it to open. Threadbare and torn carpets in the hall. Management could care less. They made no effort to correct the situation. I stay at the HI Express hotels more than 75 nights per year, and this is the pits. I'll drive South to Chehalis next time for a better experience. Most anything would be better than this. One shining star was the blond woman who managed the Breakfast Bar. She was a delightful person who would be an asset to any property. I was very pleased with my stay. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was delicious. The woman who staffed the breakfast year did a superb job keeping the food fresh, the coffee replenshed, and the area clean. She was very friendly and greeted everyone in the morning. We had a problem. Our air conditioning unit did not work, but the time of year we could simply open a window. I was disappointed in the "jacuzzi" in the room. It wasn't what I thought to be a real jacuzzi, but rather a single person jetted tub. Overall, however, the stay was pleasant. We have never been treated as poorly as by the girl that checked us in. We waited a good 5 minutes before she came out of the office directly to the right of the check in desk although she saw us standing there. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. The room was a typical hotel room. Our plan was to stay two nights, but could not. The check-in guy was terrible. No business center. No book of area restaurants. No help. We were worried because we used hotel points for two nights and thought we would loose out, but the hotel customer service and the morning desk clerk were great. She told us that they often let customers use the computer in the office for work. The guy never offered. When we asked him for restaurant help, he offered none. The next morning we drive 4 miles south and see an Applebee's, unbelievable. Live and learn, I guess. This hotel is the highest priced hotel in the area. We chose to stay there because my daughter had a softball tournament nearby and thought they would cater to teams. However, their pool closes every night at 8:00 pm. So, we were unable to ever use the pool due to conflicts with softball game times. Several other team members also stayed there for the same reason and like us, were never able to use the pool. The restrictive pool hours should be posted on their website - I never would have stayed there had I known. All the other hotels we've stayed at had the pool open until at least 10pm. So, I would not recommend this hotel for softball teams playing in tournaments in the area. There are other hotels in the area with better prices and indoor pools with later hours. At Check in the Front Desk person left us standing there and didn't let us check in because the refused to honor our reserved rate. Poor business sense. Will not go back.
