4 of 5  great place to stay, A TripAdvisor Member, austin, texas, July 21, 2004

Great place to stay! Was there for an extended stay, and staff is super-friendly and responsive. Treated like family (in a good way). Property is older, but rooms appear fresh and clean. Good food in the restaurant, and great live entertainment in the bar.

Stay here only if you have to. Old rooms are OK if you don't mind seeing daylight around the doors. Keep the AC running or your room will turn into a sauna. No business services (i.e., web access) and few ammentities to speak of. Overpriced breakfast (per norm). Suggest the Holiday Inn Express down the road in Baytown instead.

The entrance is a false representation of this place. Makes it look new, and updated. Thats not the case. The room was outdated, and had a horrible musty smell. It advertises high speed internet, although thats only if you can keep signal from their wireless connection. (there is no plugin network connection) ... so video messaging w/ my kids was out of the question. The soap and shampoo they provide are like pure extract of mint leaves. At night, the place really comes alive, with drunkards and smokers from the pub located in the lobby. So dont bother going out past nine or so or else get ready for lewd comments and whisles from the patrons. I went to find a soda machine, to realize that there wasnt one. I asked the front clerk if i may have missed it. She informed me that they do not have one on the property, but I can purchase one from the already overpriced restaraunt at 1.75 a drink. Oh, the restaraunt... you better have deep pockets because they are very proud of their ten dollar chicken strips and gravy for an extra charge. There is NOTHING within walking distance so dont even bother trying to find something else. My advice, stay far, far away from here. There are MUCH better places within a couple miles of here for about the same cost.
