We stayed at the Best Western wellness from 12 April to 15 April 2008. It was worth the money we paid for it the rooms were spacious and clean and they provided us with additional extras for a charge of course, but it had everything you needed. The only down side was that the rooms were a bit old fashioned and could do with some modernising. The Best Western is in the centre of everything, It has all the bars a short walk from the hotel with all the attractions of Bremen. So if your looking for a cheap central location hotel go here. Would definately recommend to others. This was the second time I stayed at this hotel since I needed to go to a classic car show in Bremen. The show takes place on the opposite side of the train station with easy access from the hotel. This time I travelled by bus from Copenhagen to Bremen. It turned out that the bus stopped right beside the hotel. If you are travelling by train the hotel is just opposite the main train station. If you arrive by car, there is a small garage under the hotel. My room was 450 which turned out to be a large single room with no street noise. I wanted a no-smoking room and I discovered that most of the floors were with no-smoking rooms. I stayed there between 30th. January - 3rd. February. It was rather cold but when I turned the heat on in the room it soon got hot. The room was clean and cosy. The Staff was very efficient both in the reception and in the breakfast room. Since I had reserved the room using the Internet I had to pay extra for breakfast. I had breakfast for three days and had to pay 48 Euro for this. The breakfast room is large, very nice and nothing seemed to be missing from the food you could chose. The centre of Bremen is within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Bremen. Stayed one night here in October. We arrived early, hoping to check our baggage in. They had two of our three rooms ready, and let us check into those instead. (We were 4 hours before check-in time...) The ladies at the front desk were extremely pleasant and hepful. One of my bags was lost by the airline, and when we came back after some sights, the hotel staff had it waiting in my room. This hotel is right across from the train station, yet there was no bothersome noise as I had expected. And, it was walking distance to pretty much everything we wanted to see. The lounge attached to the hotel wasn't bad for a hotel lounge either. And, the service was pretty prompt and attentive, which isn't always the case in Europe. We were pleased. The rooms were nice, clean and comfy. Roomy for European standards. The breakfast was great! A very pleasant surprise as most best westen hotels i have stayed in have fallen short of the mark. The room was a great size although the layout could have been better and the toilet and bathroom were squeaky clean . The check in was efficient (well it is Germany!) and the spa/ fitness centre was quiet and relaxing. The hotel is situated across the street from the tram station and the main railway station and is only a short walk into the old part of the city which unfortunatley has very few original buildings still standing but judging from what remains it must have been a very very pretty city. The area to the right of the station should apparently be avoided as it is very dodgy, saying that we had a great time in a real dive of a bar with some very dodgy looking people who were actually very very nice and great fun. My partner and I have just returned from a short break to Bremen, and very very pleased with the overall experience. The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring. If you don't feel like walking, you can jump on a tram at the station and go all over. We bought a ticket from the tourist information centre in the train staton. It cost around 9 euro's for a 2 day pass and was a good way of exploring areas outside the normal tourist routes. Bremen itself was wonderful. There was a music festival on for the weekend (swing, not my thing but the buzz was great!). The market square was full of entertainers and booths selling wine, cocktails and lots of food. The whole atmosphere was great. The area down by the river was lovely with loads of places to eat and drink. The boat trip we went on was a disappointment as it only went into the industrial part of the river and the commentary was all in German. One good thing about the hotel was the price of drinks. We noticed where ever we had a drink the prices were all pretty similar, so we weren't over charged at the hotel bar, which meant when we were tired (usually from drinking in Paddy's Pit round the corner!) we could stay in the bar without it costing too much. The staff were great and the place was really clean and tidy. We didn't opt for breakfast at 14 euro each, we thought that was overpriced, and with so many places to eat, we chose to get breakfast or brunch elsewhere. I would recommend this hotel and Bremen to everyone. It's small enough to get round, feels safe and apart from a bit of graffiti and a few dodgy looking characters around the station area, a very nice place for a visit. We were 6 girls traveling together, and chose to stay in deluxe rooms. It wasn`t expensive to upgrade, and it made our stay a bit more pleasant. The rooms were large and clean, but a bit dated in colors etc. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was nice. Large wellness center in the basement. Bremen is a lovely city, but I recomend traveling there closer to the summer, when the river Weser is surrounded by green grass and large trees. Me and 6 friends stayed for just one night. Hotel was clean , staff were very helpful and hotel was perfect for us. We did notice a bit of a smell, but I soon forgot it. Linen was very crisp and clean, beds were comfy ,what more do you want Above average accommodation but below average restaurant and menu. However there's no shortage of good eating houses within easy walking distance. Close to the railway station so expect noise and bustle in the street outside. You need to reserve your secured parking space in advance or forget it. o.k for a short stay or if you're on a budget. Friendly, well informed staff. Open plan bar in reception. This hotel is very convienient being opposite the train station and generally very good. The spa area is lovely, with jacuzzi and several saunas/steam rooms and very quiet. The only downside for us was the breakfast - we are fairly relaxed on holiday and usually go for breakfast at about 9am, however this was a big mistake here. When we went down on both days there were no tables available and we had to walk around for 10 mins waiting for someone to leave, then got a table lower then the surrounding area and had to put up with a rude man coughing over my breakfast. The food then ran out and wasn't replenished - fruit, pastries and hot food, even though we waited for a while. The staff were unhelpful and kept dumping cutlery supplies loudly just behind us. They were obviously setting up for the cafe which opens at 11am and must be more valuable. Not the most relaxing start to a day! Visited Bremen for the first time and picked this hotel because of the good reviews and especially because of the location. Which was both great and not too good. It was easy getting to the hotel from the airport. Tram #6, 10 min ride to the main station, the hotel is just across the street from the station. And that's both the good and bad part of the location. The hotel is next to about everything, but the surroundings of the central station also means that there was lots of noise and people. Not to mention all the drunks who were there at ALL times. I can handle it, but my 5 yo daughter found it a bit scary sometimes. Hotel is ok, average room with comfortable beds (pillows just fine, maybe management has read some of the reviews here?). Breakfast was good, but we had to wait some time to get a table. And also had to wait for food, as the trays were left empty for some time before they refilled it - we had to ask for both rolls and eggs, which really shouldn't be necessary. But no big deal, overall a really good breakfast. But it was not included in tariff, and it was expencive! Wellness area was ok, we took a swim in the pool only - and that was probably the most expencive 45 minutes in water we've ever experienced. Yes, you're charged even for just using the pool. Dining: The italian restaurant at the hotel was full, tried to reserve a table for the eventing at about 10 am and there was no tables available. Not too many restaurants in this area, and going too far from the hotel with a 5 yo was out of the question. Ended up eating at McDonald's, which wasn't exactly what we planned. Hotel staff was very helpful and nice. Have no reason not to recommend this hotel, but at the same time I think we'll choose another one for our next stay in Bremen. Arrived in Bremen late on a Sunday afternoon. I was expecting a more industrial city but in common with many towns in Germany Bremen is doing its best to present a fine face to the world. The city is divided by River Weser and I spotted many parks, open areas and interesting buildings. I could only stay overnight but I think the town deserves more time. Finding a hotel was another matter and in the tangle of one-way streets and autobahns (free-ways) I spotted a Best Western. Getting to it was another matter but eventually I pulled up in a small square which appears also to be a main bus station. I got a nice big clean room at a decent price but there was some chaos about parking my quite small rental car. The staff did a lot of running round and suggesting places but truth to tell I ended up parking outside the front of the hotel knowing I would have to move by 9am the following day or risk a ticket. The hotel is however right across another square from the Hauptbahnhof (Main railway station) so anybody arriving by train would be very pleased. The breakfast was excellent - despite having to keep an eye open for the parking attendant and there is an Imbiss (pub) in the same block with great beer which also does food. Stay again? Sure. With a car? OK maybe look around elsewhere first. Staff at the hotel which is probably heading towards a makeover were very pleasant. Hotel Zur Post is a good hotel. Not too expensive and with big rooms. I would say that the hotel is a bit unmodern though and needs some touching up. The lighting in the rooms is a bit strange, but I guess one gets used to it. The rooms are ok. But I would make sure to ask for extra pillows. The ones in the room are totally worthless and only about 2 centimeters thick. No support for your neck here. The hotel is well situated just opposite the Hauptbahnhof (railwaystation) and a ten-minute walk from the shopping streets. The garage is always full and it's almost impossible to book in advance. Sometimes Zur Post can use the Mercure parking garage just around the corner. The hotel is connected to a wellness center. For guests at the hotel entry is only 4 Euro. They have a swimmingpool, jacuzzi, work-out rooms, sauna and can also help with facials and massages. This is a nice addition to the hotel. The breakfast is nice and if you stay Friday to Saturday they offer sekt in the morning with is great if you don't drive of course. The breakfast has many offers and you will not leave hungry. No me gusto nada.

We stayed 3 nights. Our first room had a terrible funky smell and had no adequate door lock either which made for an uncomfortable night's rest. After we switched to another room the next morning, we found the alternative little better. No smell, just a bad room. The decor was very tired and dated with uncomfy beds. The whole hotel is dated throughout and reminded me of a what a 4 star hotel might have looked like in the 1960's. Incredible that this was rated as "4 star " - frankly, whilst the location is good - 10 minutes to the heart of the town - this hotel is " best left " off your choice. I recently stayed one night in this hotel (booked via HRS) and would absolutely not recommend it. Why ? Well, the rooms of this hotel are really runned down & old-fashioned. Beds are pretty old (I don't want to talk about all these small animals you might find in the mattress). Also the bathroom has the standard from about 20 years ago. You would definitely expect more from a 4* hotel - by the way, how did they got these stars ??? In addition, the hotel is located next to an inner-city highway - with a lot of traffic also during the night. Therefore, if you are lucky enough (like me) to get one of the rooms towards this highway, you should be used in sleeping with closed windows (great in summer !) ;-(( You can see this highway if you look up the hotel on Google Maps. Centrally located next to the main station, the only advantage of this hotel is that it's only a 10 minutes walk into the inner-city of Bremen which offers some nice coffee houses, restaurants and shopping opportunities. However, this central location next to the train station is also an issue as you will find - like in most other cities - some strange people (drug dealers etc.) hanging around the hotel during the night. Breakfast selection was okay. Nothing special. You should refrain to put your car in the hotel garage - it's really small and hard to come in especially if you drive a bigger car like BMW or Mercedes. I would recommend the public parking on the other side of the inner-city highway (2-3 minutes walk to the hotel) behind the hotel. As a hotel guest, you get a 4 Euro discount per night on the parking fees (8 Euros instead of 12 Euros). I did not test the wellness offers but considering the state of the hotel I would not expect too much. Isn't it strange to call a hotel Wellness Hotel if you are located next to the central railway station and an inner-city highway ? Bremen certainly offers better hotels, so forget this one.
