5 of 5  Superb Wellness Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Germany, August 1, 2008

This is our second stay at the Park and will definitely not be our last. The wellness facilities including, outside pool. roman Bath, saunas, steam room, tepidarium, whirlpook etc are just what you need if you want to do nothing but relax. Our superior room was spacious with a large walk-in shower and separate bath. An inner lobby between the bedroom, bathroom and the walk-in wardrobe also gave a great feeling of space. The breakfast offers a wide variety of dishes and food can also be cooked to order by the chef. The gyms are well equipped and additional fitness activities such as walking, running etc are available daily. Order the English afternoon tea if you want to indulge yourself but a little tip, 1 afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones, cake and petit fours will easily serve 3-4 people. You only need to order extra tea! Only one thing to be aware of - if you want to walk into the old town it is a good 20-30 minutes walk but the hotel does have bikes (we didn't use them but they may be available)

5 of 5  Total relaxation, A TripAdvisor Member, Sheffield, July 6, 2008

We stayed for a two day short break to re-charge the batteries. The hotel offered great facilities the pool and steam rooms are well worth a visit and made our break one we will certainly take again when we feel the need to re-charge. The hotel staff were all wonderful from reception through to bar staff they were polite, helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The rooms at the hotel were spacious and clean and the beds were large and comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance from the old town and the train station and only a £15.00 taxi ride from the airport. We went to a fantastic restaurant opposite the town hall which was called John Benton's. The atmoshpere was lovely and the food was good and the prices were reasonable too.

5 of 5  Beautiful Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Dublin, May 21, 2008

Sourced this hotel through this website and very much lived up to its billing. As evidenced by the photo, the hotel is located in beautiful setting, surrounded by the lake and park. The hotel is also within close proximity to the city centre, easily reached by foot.

The room we stayed in was spacious with all mod cons, minibar, bathrobes, slippers etc. I think the only item missing as noted on earlier review is tea/coffee making facilities. Then again, the coffee in Germany is so good that that drinking instant probably would not have done it any justice.

Probably the highlight for me was the Spa'rks wellness centre. We didn't partake of any of the treatments due to time constraints, however we spent time in the centre on both days and it was well worth the visit. The centre is fully equipped with various sauna, steam rooms etc and very tastefully designed and kitted out. All in all a very relaxing experience and one of the nicest wellness centres I've ever been in.

We ate breakfast at the hotel and found the variety and quality of the food to be excellent. The staff at the hotel were also extremely courteous and friendly. All in all a very enjoyable experience and would recommend this hotel to others.

5 of 5  "Fantastic", A TripAdvisor Member, dublin, April 24, 2008

Just back from a long weekend in Bremen and it was a fantastic experience. I went with my wife and my 3 year old son (it was his first trip away) and could not have had a better time.

We had a standard double room which was massive with flat screen tv in the room and the bathroom, it was nice to have BBC1 as well as the usual channels.

When we went into our room late on Friday night we found slippers, bathrobes and a teddy bear laid out on our sons bed which was probably the highlight of the weekend for him!!!

The hotel setting is very scenic, lots of nice park walks around it but its also not very far from the main train station and the centre of town, easily within walking distance.

We had a meal in the hotel on Saturday night which was very, very good - a steak done to perfection and, again, they provided pencils and paper for my son.

On Bremen itself, I found it a very nice town to walk around - I particularly enjoyed the Schlect area down by the river - and, importantly, they absolutely love kids!!

5 of 5  Sheer indulgence, A TripAdvisor Member, Sydney, Australia, February 15, 2008

This was a wonderful hotel which has great character and very luxurious. It is in a wonderful setting, with a lake in front and large pack behind it. It is a short walk from the station. While it is at the end of the town, it was easy to walk to the sights.

While the single room was not large it was comfortable. It also had a flat LCD TV and included various normal BBC channels which made a nice change from the usual CNN/BBC world news programs which become repetitive.

Breakfasts are outstanding. The hotel restaurant is also good, but not cheap. I had one meal there (asparagus and veal schnitzel, cost 33 Euro) which was very filling and tasted delicious. However, for the other two nights I went to the Maredo steak house which was a short walk on the otherside of the station and had an excellent meal there for half the price!

They have a wonderful large lounge which I was pleased to use to sit and and read. It was lounge one could imagine being used for a movie, perhaps an Agatha Christie set in the 1920s or 1930s! One evening as I was reading there, a young lady played classical music and other standards on the grand piano.

5 of 5  Well located for AWD Dome, A TripAdvisor Member, Shropshire/Staffordshire border, February 10, 2008

We stayed at the Park Hotel for 3 nights to see the Bremen Six Day racing at the AWD Dome (indoor track cycling racing). The Hotel is excellently placed for hall/conference centre as it is about 5 minutes walk away. (However the Maritim Hotel is actually connected to the centre).

We had an excellent deal through Tui Fly, however we stayed in one of the original rooms which had not been refurbished as it had some very retro fittings. That said, the room was spacious and overlooked the park. The public rooms of the hotel are very grand and well appointed.

Breakfast was excellent, with a chef on hand to cook your eggs to order as well as the normal cereals, fresh fruits, continental meats and cheese sections.

There is a heated outdoor swimming pool so it was fun to swim when everyone was muffled up in big coats. There are also several steam rooms, saunas and a jacuzzi however they are mixed.

Bremen has some lovely shopping and pretty areas, particularly the Schnoor quarter with its narrow lanes and quaint shops. We had an excellent city break.

5 of 5  Good quality, A TripAdvisor Member, Malta, February 6, 2008

The Hotel is situated in a park with a lake infront of it. It is probably a 1970's style building but that has undergone renovation internally. We stayed in a delux room that seems to have been recently refurbished. The room was nicely done with a superb bathroom with a separate bath and shower and toilet. Another feature is the qantity of lighting in each room. The room also had a nice view of the lake. One great feature of the hotel is that it is so peaceful.

The breakfasts were superb and served in a grand lounge and we also dined there one evening. The dinner was excellent but a bit on the high side.

The staff in both the reception and the restaurants are friendly enough and speak decent English.

We found its location to be pretty good as it is a 5 minute walk to the main train station and about 10 mins from the city centre.

All in all I would definitely have no hesitancy in recommending this hotel for a great stay in Bremen.

5 of 5  Fantastic Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Dublin, December 11, 2007

This hotel really was 5star, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were perfect. Breakfast was lovely with great selection...lots cheeses, meats, hot food eggs, sausages, lovely croissants, all fruits etc etc would definitely recommend this hotel and even though outside the city was roughly about 7euro into town in taxi. The bar was nice to sit in and relax in the evening and had a piano player each evening.

5 of 5  Fantastic Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, LONDON, April 12, 2007

The Park Hotel lives up to its name being situated right in the middle of a beautiful park. I stayed with my wife and daughter in a room on the first floor with fantastic views overlooking the park. The hotel is very grand, the service was impeccable, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were keen to offer the best possible service and they gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble. Even though we arrived well before check in time our room was ready and we were allowed to go straight to it. That doesn't happen often!

The hotel has a very large circular room in the middle which is very elegant where you can take tea. There is a log fire there with comfortable sofas and chairs and a grand piano. There is a spa and well equiped gym. My daughter enjoyed having a swim in the pool. The pool is actually an outdoor one, but they keep the water nice a walm and it was very clean.

Breakfast was excellent and is served in a delightful wing of the hotel overlooking the park. I particularly enjoyed the Bircher Museli specially prepared by the hotel.

Directly outside the hotel, hotel bicycles can be hired. You can use them to explore the huge park or ride into the town centre. We decided to walk in to Bremen. It takes about 15 minutes on foot to get from the Hotel into the Old Town. It is a very pleasant walk. You see the impressive main station on the way and rather unexpectedly an old Windmill as you pass over a bridge near some water.

A good place to have lunch in Bremen is the buffet at their biggest department store, called Kardstadt, in the town centre.

A taxi from the hotel into the town centre is 9 euros.

We found the hotel to be excellent value for money and enjoyed every moment of our stay there. We found Bremen to be an excellent weekend break destination. We would definitely recommend the hotel, which deservedly has the reputation for being the best in Bremen.

5 of 5  Beautiful, grand and charming hotel, friendly staff, A TripAdvisor Member, hull, September 9, 2006

Rooms - excellent with beautiful views over lake. Clean and tidy large room. Breakfast was excellent in a grand room. Was excellent value for money. We ended up staying 7 nights. Staff were very helpful and very friendly. Old fashioned maybe but first class.

5 of 5  Only problem is finding a reason for being in Bremen!, A TripAdvisor Member, Curitiba, Brazil, July 22, 2006

Ultimate high class, old-money style. Elegant, luxurious, clean and comfortable (although I can only speak for the rooms in the new wing - some reviewers suggest that the older ones are not quite as excellent). Ask for a bath if you want one because not all rooms have them. Spectacular location near the centre of town but seemingly worlds away, in as much as it's right in front of a lake in a park. Lavish breakfast counter. Only problem - why does one need to be in Bremen in the first place? Assuming you have a reason, this is the only place to stay. The best of more than a dozen German hotels I used this summer.

5 of 5  Only top-class hotel in Bremen, A TripAdvisor Member, Germany, November 7, 2005

Park-Hotel (member of LHW) is the only 5star hotel in Bremen.

It is located in the "Buerger-Park" which is a forest in the city. Therefore you will experience no street noise etc. and you can go for a nice walk/run in the park. However you have to walk about 20 min to old town.

Rooms are reasonably sized. Some of them are recently remodelled while others aren't. So try to get a new one.

Spa and fitness is state of the art (4 saunas, TechnoGym machines) and use is usually included in the room rate.

Parking is possible in front of the hotel at no charge or in the underground garage (charge around 15 EUR/day).

That means if you can get a room at about the same price as in the Hilton, ParkHotel is the much better deal if you arrive by car.

5 of 5  A class of it's own - how to be a notch up, A TripAdvisor Member, September 11, 2005

Came back to the Park Hotel once more after a few years of absence - and loved it! A new side wing has been added. My room wasn´t pricy at all, but spacious, clean, classy and calm. The staff is excellent. I was welcomed by a personal bellboy on the parking lot - that´s not usual these days - even at 5 star hotels. Before even reaching your room he´ll gives you the grand tour and explains all the things you need to know about the house and your room. They treat you as a real guest. You´d be surprised more than once by the service. The breakfast was more than excellent and the breakfast room offers a wonderful view over the pond in the Buergerpark. Best choice in Bremen for a luxury stay!

4 of 5  Good value for money for 5 Star Luxury, A TripAdvisor Member, July 16, 2008

Located in the middle of a large Park can be best reached by car. Consequently it is very quiet. We got an upgrade and had a nice large room (no smoking) well furnished and decorated. Even the dog was happy as he got a his own basket and some pet food. Breakfast and room service were excellent.

4 of 5  Strange combo of grand and cheesy, A TripAdvisor Member, Bermuda, August 12, 2006

This hotel is kind of 1970s ugly on the outside, and there are some goofy interior touches inside, but we stayed in a gorgeous, rennovated, totally modern suite and loved it. The hotel is on the edge of a huge and beautiful park. Great for kids. Lovely service and attention to detail. We'd go back.

4 of 5  A Leading Hotel of the World that needs a Facelift, A TripAdvisor Member, March 22, 2004

I had an early check-in, and my room was not ready, but they made everything to get me in the room as soon as possible. The room in a sidewing was okay and very functional. Bathroom was excellent. I even had a small balcony, facing the nice surroundings of the Buergerpark.

All in all i got the impression, that the Hotel needs a complete facelift in the near future, and its not been done by adding another sidewing on the other end of the hotel, as they do right now.

5 of 5  Hotel extra lusso in posizione fiabesca, A TripAdvisor Member, padova, September 30, 2008

2 of 5  A 5 Star? Not in the last 30 years!, A TripAdvisor Member, McLean, VA, September 12, 2008

We were a bit spoiled coming to this hotel after an incredible experience at another 5 star property, however, as a member of the "Leading Hotels of the World" we did still have expectations that it would be a nice hotel. The decor in this hotel reminded me of a review I read of a Parisian hotel that likened the hotel to "Grandma's Tattered Panties" -- when it was opened, it was the height of style, but those days ended many years ago! Although we did have some great moments of service, it was balanced with some serious deficiencies. For example when I did not find any conditioner in the room and called housekeeping (also our bath amenities were not refreshed after the first day of our stay), I was told that the hotel does not offer conditioner. When I mentioned to the front desk clerk that I had never stayed in a 5 star hotel that did not have conditioner as an amenity for its guests, she respond that I should have called housekeeping. I told her I did and that they said the hotel did not have it. She indicated that this was not correct and said, "I hope you didn't let this upset you." I would have expected a bit more contrition rather than a shoulder shrug and its your problem!

In addition, the rooms are all separated by category so its impossible to have a suite with an adjoining single if you're traveling in a group setting and when we requested rooms that were "close", we were given two rooms that required 2 elevator rides and 4 min walk between them. They offered us an adjoining room after the first night when we complained and rather than offering a discount to reflect the inconvenience charged us for 2 suites. Also when we checked out there were several phone calls that we did not make on our bill.
