5 of 5  We got married, A TripAdvisor Member, Leicestershire, England, November 21, 2008

We thought the whole Excalibur experience was fantastic, we had a lovely romantic wedding, the friendly helpful staff couldnt do enough, we were given a queen room on arrival I telephoned reception to ask for a king room and the key to our new room was delivered within 10 mins, and of course the price. Although it is one of the cheapest hotels you wouldnt know it, our room was cleaned and towels replaced daily and staff always had a smile and were very helpful, Tournament of Kings and the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay Hotel are a must as is the free lightshow on Freemont Street. It was our first time in Vegas and we wouldnt hesitate to go back and although we went round a few of the other more upmarket hotels we will be returning to the Excalibur. Watch out for the people offering free show tickets as it involves half a day looking around a new complex (timeshare)

5 of 5  Stay here for family fun, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, November 18, 2008

We came to Vegas back in late July... so it was REALLY hot ... but we had a fantastic time. The Excalibur was clean and the staff was friendly. Buffet was not bad, but a little pricey. Tournament of Kings dinner show was WELL WORTH it! Kids had fun in the arcade. Great pool area! For the price we paid, we couldn't turn this one down! We had a widescreen room in tower II and it was very nice. Hotel is a little north of a lot of the "action" on the strip, but there was plenty to do in the same area. Besides, who goes to Vegas and doesn't plan to walk the strip? All in all, I was pleased with this hotel and I would stay there again.

5 of 5  Awesome New Rooms, A TripAdvisor Member, Los Angeles California, November 13, 2008

Just got back from a fablous trip to vegas, sister got married so naturally i had to attend. I decided to stay at the Excalibur because they were offering me a comped night and the second night was cheaper. valet, baggage, and check in desk was a breeze with very nice staff. i was given a newly remodeled room in tower II room 9602. upon walking in you could tell the room was nice, freshly painted, new comfortable beds, a massive flat screen tv and new carpet. i was very impressed with the quality of materials used. I enjoyed the room very much. check out was a breeze as well. located in each tower are self check out kiosk which are very easy to use and very convient. i will definetly stay at the excalibur hotel and casino again

keep up the good work!!!!

5 of 5  Very nice!, A TripAdvisor Member, UK, November 8, 2008

Stayed at the Exaclibur before but not for a few years. Return visit for just a couple of nights and paid a few bucks extra for a "widescreen" room Very nicely appointed room, with comfortable bed and large, clean bathrooom.

Looks like the Excalibur has realigned itself as a more upmarket property.

Recommended.

5 of 5  Excalibur, one year on......, A TripAdvisor Member, Scotland, October 25, 2008

First off, i reckon there must be 2 Excaliburs in Vegas, considering the amount of bad reviews this place gets!!

We stayed here last October(2007) and loved it so much we stayed there again this October(2008) for 8 nights. Last year was just me and my wife, so we booked remodeled tower 2 view room. This year we took our 11yr old son to Vegas for his first time(we've been 5 times now!!), and decided tower 1 would be fine, as we didn't see the need in upgrading, though we were offered upgrade for $20/night. Decided not to bother, slipped the check in girl $20, and she gave us a great room on the 26th floor with a view over Tropicana & MGM.

Now time to answer some previous posts.......First off, check-in is

very easy to find. You get dropped off at hotel entrance, walk in and follow signs for check-in!!!! If you're having to walk through the casino, your taxi has dropped you off round the back.

The room was VERY clean, as clean as remodeled room was previous year, 2 queen beds, and great view, older styled furnishings, but not worn.

The pools, last year only 2 pools were in use as there was construction going on. This year there were 4 pools, but only 2 open as i believe they only open 4 in high season, fair enough. At no point in our 8 day stay did any of us have to fight our way into the pool, loads o room, plenty sun loungers, and a smaller quieter pool for adults if needed, plus 3 large hot tubs. Yeh people smoke, yeh people drink, but no-one does so in the pool.

The staff @ Excalibur are great, in every store there are signs asking

customer to pay with bills under $50, so what?? I paid for 3 Krispy Kreme doughnuts with $100 bill one night and the girl just asked if i had anything smaller, i didn't, she took it.

Buffet is decent, went a couple of times, but i'd recommend Luxor for sunday champagne brunch, amazing, and Paris is always good.

Hookers??? Yeh i saw a couple about 6/7 in the morning when i was getting a coffee, but they're in every casino, money, drunk men, why do you think they're there??

Timeshare people are everywhere in Vegas, almost as many of them as the Mexicans flicking the nudie cards on the strip!!! If you tell them you're off home tomorrow, they wish you a good day, simple as.

Overall, Excalibur is great value, probably one of the best on the strip, just wish people would see it for what it is. Value for money, and well worth a visit!!!

5 of 5  Best value hotel on the strip!, A TripAdvisor Member, London, October 14, 2008

I stayed here with my husband en route to the Grand Canyon on the high recommendation of friends and relatives. We were not disappointed in the least!

Despite the recommendation, I shopped around vigorously for all the hotels on the strip and I have to say that the prices at Excalibur eclipsed those of even its next door neighbours, Luxor, NY NY, MGM, etc. Our view was that the only reason for this could be that the fairy tale theme may seem a bit childish to some people?? Everything was of such a good standard that we could not see any other reason. Although I have to say that even in my late 20s it felt wonderful to be staying in a giant fairy castle and there were no more or less family groups at our hotel than at the others we visited.

In short, we were impressed on every front. The fairy tale theme was tasteful and imaginative in the public areas of the hotel and carried on in the rooms in a more toned down and far more contemporary way (we stayed in Tower 2). The rooms themselves were very spacious, clean and had a premium level of decor. All of the staff we encountered were extremely helpful throughout our stay as well and we found it easy to navigate this hotel compared with others we visited (many of which were quite easy to get lost in!).

As the hotel is right at the end of the strip, you can easily work your way down visiting each of the hotels on foot and then just get a cab back at the end of the day if you’re too tired to walk all the way. With the Luxor hotel, etc all so close, you can have a change of scene even without venturing too far, especially as the hotels are all linked with integral walkways and escalators. At the Excalibur there are a range of places to eat but we did have meals at other hotels too since they are all so accessible.

Given that we had the convenience of the whole Las Vegas strip right on our doorstep, the price we paid was pretty satisfying. We were able to explore the other hotels without having to pay the premium for staying there ourselves. Of course, if you want the prestige and added luxury that probably comes with staying at Ceasar’s Palace, Paris, Bellagio etc then I’m sure you’d probably get value for the extra money you’d have to spend. However, staying at Excalibur is not a second rate option given the excellent rooms, service and facilities you have. I’d highly recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Las Vegas with access to all the highlights for an incredibly good price.

One extra point, our trip to the grand canyon was through a coach tour company which picked us up and dropped us off right outside the hotel. A tip on this, we went on the south rim tour (widest, deepest part of the canyon, further from Vegas) but on reflection, we should probably have taken the west rim tour. The west rim is a lot closer to Vegas hence you can get there and back before 6pm plus there are more activities at the west rim and visitor attractions like the glass skywalk that hangs over the edge of the canyon.

5 of 5  Great Value for location and "buzz", A TripAdvisor Member, Dorset, UK, October 13, 2008

Our second time at the Excalibur and i must admit i love the place. I guess there are ritzier and more central hotels but for the money i think the Excalibur gives you a themed hotel on the Strip (although at one end) that feels special. Yes it can be smokey in the Casino but then this is Vegas. At times all of the casinos there get smokey.

The rooms in Tower 2 have been refurbished since our last visit and are excellent. Good size, powerful shower, widescreen TV and kept clean. The restaurants are ok but nothing special, we used the Italian and the Sherwood Forest. The casino and hotel has a more "friendly" feel than many others on the strip imho and you don't feel intimidated. Can't quite put my finger on it but it feels safe.

The pool area is huge but when we were there Oct 08 the opening times are very restricted, 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Overall i would recomend the Excalibur to anyone and i hope to return again in the not to distant future.

5 of 5  Great Value, A TripAdvisor Member, Columbus, Oh, October 12, 2008

I was a little nervous when I booked my vacation at the Excalibur. I had heard decent things, but nothing really good. My fiance and I were pleasantly suprised! We were upgraded to the Widescreen room for no additional charge and it was lovely. Very clean and well decorated. We had a terrible view of the other tower (I saw a naked person or two) but whatever. It wasn't a big deal to us.

The location is terrific.

It is annoying to pay $12.99 for internet but it wasn't a necessity.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely stay there again!

5 of 5  Great Hotel!, A TripAdvisor Member, San Diego, CA, September 30, 2008

We stayed in a newly remodeled room, they call them widescreen rooms, and it does have a huge widescreen TV. The room was really big, very clean, very updated. I requested a room with a view and we ended up on the 22nd floor overlooking the strip. The hotel itself is nicer than I expected. The pool area was recently remodled also and was really nice. There's 3 medium pools and lots of lounge chairs, but it does fill up. They play music, but it's not clubby, just relaxed. I've stayed at a lot of different hotels and I would definitely stay here again.

4 of 5  Great Hotel but I can do without the sales people at the entrances, A TripAdvisor Member, SWFL, November 4, 2008

My husband and I enjoyed our second trip last week to the Excalibur. We stayed in an updated room in tower two, 15th floor. Great view of New York New York. We love the location of the hotel and the rates but can do without the sales people they have at the entrances including the ramp from tower two into the casino. They can't be avoided and of course they don't remember who they have already bothered. Every time we walked up the ramp to the casino/restaurants there was a sales person on each side trying to give away "free shows" but of course nothing is free. They are selling time shares or prepaid vacation packages or a piece of some new construction down the the street. It got to the point I had to walk with my hand up in their face and say back off. We even walked around the outside of the building to avoid them. Even a staff memeber said they bother them too when sharing the break area. Bad idea allowing these sales people in the door. It will certainly be considered when we book our next trip. I may pay more per night to stay in a hotel that does not have these sales people. They are not employees of the Excalibur.

4 of 5  a good stay in a good hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, New Plymouth, New Zealand, October 29, 2008

we stayed at the excalibur for 5 nights last year and its quite a nice hotel, its at the south end of the strip which is better than the north end at a hotel like circus circus(which we stayed at for 10 nights and a hint about circus circus its a cheap family hotel so if you dont have children you may not enjoy it that much)but anyway getting back to excalibur hotel....this hotel has a dinner and show (i think it was called medieval times dinner and show)and that was really quite good.We also got married in the beautiful little chapel there and the price to do so was very reasonable , the wedding package was around $400.00us and in this package you get flowers dvd/video and photos on a disc also a bottle of wine and the person to marry ya,my partner/husband and i splashed out a little further and decided to make it a theme wedding so we dressed up in medieval clothing, which was real funny cause as we were walking through the hotel people were taking photos of us and following us around and asking questions like are you in a show or getting married etc, it was an awesome day and very relaxing(unlike normal stress you out expensive wedding days)so if you want to get married doing it in vegas in a hotel like excalibur is the ideal way to go.Ok back to the hotel there are good views of the strip and new york new york hotel next door/across the road and the rooms are very nice, there are also shops to look at and gambling. All in all its a good place to stay.

4 of 5  Great value, A TripAdvisor Member, Phoenix, AZ, October 28, 2008

Three couples were in our party; all three couples had a great experience. No wait at check-in, and we were all upgraded to a room that supposedly cost $20 extra. We got it at no additional cost because they were out of smoking rooms, which we had requested in our reservation. All three rooms were on the 23rd floor and had an awesome view of the strip, and a huge LCD TV. The overall quality of the room was great, but the lighting was dim in the bedroom. We did have a long wait to get into the Sherwood Forest Cafe at breakfast, and it took forever to get the check--if you plan to eat there, allow extra time. A pleasant surprise was the quick checkout--we did it on the TVs in our room. We were also able to drive our car right to the door near the elevators so we didn't have to lug our baggage through the casino. Very convenient. Overall, it was a great value considering the room rate was under $80 per night (mid-week).

4 of 5  What's all the complaining about! Chill out!, A TripAdvisor Member, Winsford, Cheshire, October 26, 2008

The excalibur hotel is a friendly hotel located towards the far end of the strip, located on a major crossroads, located opposite MGM Grand, Tropicana and New York New York.

Tower 2 rooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard with new bathroom fitings , new beds and HD widescreen Tv's.

Check in is centrally located in the casino floor and you would have to be blind to miss it!

It would appear from many reviews on this website that people book rooms here and hope for free room upgrades etc, and if they don't get them they leave a negative review or it spoils their holiday, ohh didums, get a life! We can't expec t to get everything all the time, life isn't like that! Also attitude, tone and a friendly approach at the hotel check-in get you a long way, especially if checking in during the week.

My partner and I checked in mid-week and i had upon reserving the room contacted the hotel via email and POLITELY ASKED if it would be possible to be allocated a room on a high floor, i recieved a response within 24 hours saying our request had been noted but could not be guaranteed.

At check-in we were served by a very friendly jolly member of staff by the name of Michael, he found our reservation and noted the email we sent, he said he will see what he could find, well did he find a room or did he find a rrom, we were allocated a kingsize room on the 27th floor with a strip view, amazing! room 27217

The room was huge with pillow-top matress bed that you could have slept 4 people in comfortably, a hdtv, a huge shower stall,

The only downside is the rooms do not come equipped with fridges and if you do want to hire a fridge it is a steeply priced $20 a night, even if like myself you needed a fridge for medical reasons in my case needing to keep my insulin cold. There doesn't appear to be any leway on this, however the room does have ice buckets and ice machines located on all floors. The aircon can reach a very nice low of 60f so thereby keeping you room nicely chilled.

Yes the hotel does have an amount of timeshare reps located within it, (So do a lot of other hotels, it isn't just The Excalibur) as soon as you are offered a free show, dinner etc, just say not intrested, the reps get the idea to leave you alone. nothing in life is free!

One reviewer said she saw prostitues, both female and male in the casino but i really couldn't say that this appeared to be the case when i was there!

You can get some great deals for excalibur on [--] and use the las vegas tab.

Overall a great hotel with very very few faults, good rooms for your money, stop complaining and live life, who spends their vaction in a hotel room anyway!

4 of 5  Can't complain too much!, A TripAdvisor Member, North Dakota, October 25, 2008

I'll start off by saying that we were traveling on a budget. We booked our trip through Allegiant Air and the Excalibur was one of the least expensive for the week. I don't mind staying in low end hotels as long as they are clean. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to go for it. When we arrived, our shuttle dropped us off at the back end of the hotel/casino, so we had to drag our luggage through their large casino. BEWARE of the time share trap on your way to the registration desk. A nice looking respectable man approached us as soon as we walked up to the registration desk, asking if we were just checking in. He welcomed us and invited us over to his desk to offer us some "comps". Turned out to be a time share hoax-took over 20 minutes to get away from these guys! Watch out because there are several of these desks all over this hotel and several other lower end hotels-and on the streets! Other than that, our check in process went smoothly. We were denied an upgrade, but the lady was very apologetic. Our room was on the 25th floor and actually had a pretty great view down the strip! These rooms definately need some upgrading, but they were super clean. The bathroom was huge with a lot of counter space. When you are in Vegas, most people don't spend much time in their rooms anyways so this is really a pretty good deal.

Since this hotel is at the far end of the strip, I highly recommend the bus service. It's $5 per person for a 24 hour pass. It's not real speedy, but it saves on blisters and sore feet!

4 of 5  Hoover Damn, River Rafting, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, A TripAdvisor Member, ny, October 24, 2008

We are a family of 5, the kids are 14,13,11. This is day 3 of our trip. We have a 4 hour drive from the Grand Canyonn to Las Vegas. We check into Excalibur. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was great, after the other nights in such small rooms it was nice to spread out. It also over looked the Luxor. We immediately head to New York New York and go on the roller coaster. From there we take a car to Mirage to see Mystere. The kids loved it, the show was fantastic, with the baby, strong men, acrobats… We walk from the mirage to our hotel. The volcano was closed, and we missed the siren show at the mirage. We get to see the fountains at the Bellagio. The kids loved it. But we forgot it was Saturday night in Las Vegas, so many scantily clad ladies and drunks on the street. My son thinks everyone in Las Vegas are perverts because of all the pictures of girls.

Day 5-Had a great night sleep. WE headed to circus circus and to the Adventuredome. The kids enjoyed the rides. Get the coupon in the back of all the cabs, for $5 off the bracelets. For $20 the kids rode rides for several hours. We saw the very brief clown show. We gave the kids $10 for the games, it lasted them over an hour, next time I would give less.

WE grabbed a cab to the Venetian. The kids thought the lobby of the hotel was really cool. They were impressed with mall too. We did some shopping. WE saw the statues and the opera show at Saint Marks square.

From there we walked to Paris Paris, which was cool.

From there we went to Planet Hollywood (PH) casino. I thought it would have Hollywood stuff like the restaurants. It was cool looking, but not what I expected.

Headed to the Showcase Mall, which is not a mall, but a few stores next to each other. The coke store was interesting. The kids loved the M&M store, it went on for many floors.

We went and saw the lion exhibit at the MGM. It was so cool, the trainer was there. The lion walked over us while we were in the glass tunnel. Then the trainer threw meat on the window and the lion would like it off, like he was licking you. It was so cool.

After this we were exhausted went back to the hotel to briefly rest. Then off to the Luxor to see Believe. We went to the Criss Angel Store. We went into try the elevators at the Luxor, they tip. You need to sneak on with someone with a room key or they won’t work. From there we headed to the show. Get there early, you have to check your phone & camera and go thru metal detectors. Also I bought and printed my tickets from Ticketmaster, and I had to still go to the box-office to exchange them for their tickets. The kids loved the show. I thought it was bizarre.

After the show we walked to Mandalay Bay. You can walk from Excalibur to the Luxor and to Mandalay without going outside. We went to the restaurant Aureole to see the wine steward. It was neat watching her go up and down a pulley system to get the wine. From there we headed to the shark aquarium. It was so cool. It was overpriced but it was very informative and neat. You can touch stingrays. You end at a “sunken ship”. You are surrounded by water and the fish, sharks and sea turtles are swimming all around you. We really enjoyed it.

Day 5- We headed to the Tropicana to see the Titanic exhibit. They give you a boarding pass with the information of a real passenger. Then you go thru the exhibit learning about the boat and the various passengers. There is even an "real" iceberg. At the end you see if your passenger survived.

Back to Excalibur to see the “4D” shows. Which are 3D shows, with smell and touch.

And that was is the end of our 5 day Hoover Damn, Rafting, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas trip!

4 of 5  A good one, A TripAdvisor Member, wales, October 16, 2008

We had four nights at the Excalibur.

The room was large enough for the two of us, with two comfortable queen beds. It was clean and well decorated. The Shower room was bigger than most of the hotels we stayed in.

It was my first time in Vegas, we chose the hotel well. No complaints anywhere. I would definately stay there again.

4 of 5  Funny looking hotel with a very nice rooms!, A TripAdvisor Member, Cracow, PL, October 13, 2008

We stayed there in a newly remodeled room on 9th floor with a great Strip view (at the front desk we get a really nice upgrade for previous reservation). The room was very big, clean and comfortable, with a widescreen TV. The bathroom was huge, so was the shower (big enaugh for 3 together, not just 1 person ;) ). The staff was nice, only the smoke in the casino isn't very nice, if You are a non-smoker...

4 of 5  Great Family Place.....would do it again., A TripAdvisor Member, Sydney, Australia, October 9, 2008

The Excalibur met all our requirements, spacious, comfortable, great value for money and CLEAN.

Our family of 4 (ch 11 &9) spent 3 nights midweek. Got a great internet deal incl. $10 & $15 dining vouchers & 2 drinks from "Drenched" their poolside bar (didn't use the 20% of pool cabana) for $79 a night.

Our room was in Tower Two, 22nd floor with Strip views of NY, NY & MGM Grand. Beautiful vista at night.

Buffet was really very good with endless choices at Breakfast & Dinner. We didn't eat Lunch whilst there.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Tournament of Kings show, good fun for all the family.......with children relishing the opportunity to eat without cultery!

All dealings with staff were pleasant and helpful.

Would defintely recommend to anyone wanting value for $$ and a hassle free stay.

4 of 5  Great Value Themed Hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, Belfast, September 30, 2008

We stayed at the Excalibur for 4 nights in September 08, and have to say I thought it was great! We booked into Tower 1 (the older rooms) and were given adjoining rooms to the other 2 people in our party - without asking for it. The rooms were very clean, extremely spacious and the bathrooms were massive. The interior of the room could do with some updating, wallpaper was falling off in some places but overall it was very clean. Our TV (not a plasma on the wall) was not working, and within 5 minutes of calling reception, an extremely helpful maintenance man, had called to our room and replaced it with another one - good service.

The pool was nice and never over-crowded and a really nice place to chill out at the end of the day. Probably my only criticism is the fact that all your clothes smell of smoke after walking through, or staying in the casino for a while, but hey, you are in Vegas, everywhere is the like that!

One thing I have to mention is that in a lot of reviews on here, people mention about how the Time Share agents constantly would come up to them when they are moving through the hotel - i can honestly say that the whole time we were staying there, neither me, nor the other 3 members of our party were approached once by ANYBODY.

Overall, if you can, you have to stay in a "themed" hotel in Vegas, and the Excalibur is a good value choice in a great location (right beside New York New York and the MGM Grand) and I would have no hesitation in staying here again!

4 of 5  Loved It!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Barrie, Ontario, September 27, 2008

I stayed at the Excalibur from September 14th to September 19th. I went for a mother daughter week.

We arrived late sunday night and Emily at front desk bumped us up to their new updated rooms in tower two. she was awesome for this. The bed was a little hard but i like extreamly soft beds. however my mom loved the bed and i know if other members of my family came would have loved them too.

Ive read some people complain about the tv lacking but it was sufficent for how often you are really in the room considering there is so much to do. its basic tv stations.

There is no wireless internet for the hotel. It is $12.99 for a 24 hour period of time so be prepaired if you need to use it. My laptop was picking up something wireless but i wasn't going to trust it because if you try and pick up something you will understand from the names why i didn't trust the connections.

I was on the 16th floor in tower two and i didn't smell any smoke being in a none smoking room. having asthma i thought this might have been an issue considering other people said they did but i assume if u get a room thats high enough up u shouldn't have a problem. front desk asked if we wanted and upper or lower room and we choose upper and i think it was the better choice.

It was a clean room, the bathroom has a big couter top. i enjoyed the shower its big but theres no bathtub so some people might be upset by this but we didn't care.

we didn't gamble the whole time we were there but we managed to see a couple shows and did lots of sight seeing. so i can't really tell ya anything about the casino it self other then it being big is loud haha..

Now i saw someone Questioning Why the pool water had a salt taste... Its A Salt Water Pool..... I loved it but some wonder why and so i thought i would inform. i heard that salt water pools need less chemicals to keep clean and thus better for use.

Pools were warm. but thats obviously because of the daily heat. The hot tubs were awesome. But the pool is only opened from 9am-6pm ... most the hotels are like this but some have better pool hours but not by much from what i did notice.

every morning we ate at the sherwood forest cafe. it was excellent. and service was great. because it was just my mother and I so we didn't wait in line in the morning for breakfast. if there was a spot at the bar u can seat urself and service is much faster then at the tables. i think u spend maybe 30 minutes at the bar thats from arriving at your seat to finishing your breakfast.. and for the two of us it cost around $30 with ur tip.

if u go into the casino theres an escalitor that goes to the second floor where there is fast food like mcdonalds (24/7 a day) pizza hut, quiznos subs, krispy kreams if u got kids this is a good place. theres couple resturants there too.

We didn't eat dinner in the hotel except when we went to the tournament of the kings but thats a dinner show and so it doesn't really count. we ate dinner at the other hotels, rainforest cafe in MGM and at treasure island theres a resturant by the cirque de soile theater (resturant bar) and that place was really good i just can't remember the name. it was a weird name.

Tournement of the kings is a fun show and dinner. If you have been to Midevil times then you will know the basic concept of this show. The dinner was excellent. Some people dont realise you eat with your hands and not forks and knives so if u have kids they might really like this. just bring hand sanitizer with you. some of those "kings"were really good looking too which is always appealing to go see just because hahaha.

the hotel is about a 15 minute drive to the airport. if u have a late night flight the hotel will lock your luggage for the day. The late check out is at 3 and its an extra $40 for this option.

If you want to see something really cute go to the Dolphin Exibit/Secret Garden in The Mirage. there is a brand new baby swimming around with her mother. she only about 4 weeks old right now and soo adorable

M&M world is back to being 4 floors for all those who heard the top floor was closed down for a while. But all are back and full for M&M goodness.

A little hint for those who have never went to vegas. If you are going to be walking the strip and need to use the restroom never go into fast food place the hotels along the strip are kept MUCH cleaner because they have to live up to the expectations of the guests but the quick stops along the way that are not owned by a hotel do not need to live up to much.

i think that might be all i need to say. hope it was detailed enough for you to help u make a decision.

4 of 5  Vegas Baby, A TripAdvisor Member, Wolverhampton, UK, September 26, 2008

Me and my boyfriend were staying in the Excalibur for 2 nights and were a bit wary at first as to what the hotel would be like. We only paid £30.00 a night for us both and as this was our first trip to Vegas we did not know what to expect. But even pulling up outside I felt excited as the hotel is so big and bright! Due to flight times we turned up at the hotel 3 hours before check - in and they checked us in early at no extra cost and there were no queues at all. Good start already!!

However, as soon as we got there we were hassled a bit by the staff trying to get us to buy show tickets. But we didnt buy any as there are loads of different shows and places to get tickets. But after that first time we were never hassled again!

Our room was a bit dated but it was clean and we had 2 King sized beds. The shower was quite good and we were given shampoo, showergel and soap every morning. Our view was rubbish, but we didnt plan on spending much time in our room, so that was no issue for us.

We didn't eat at the hotel but there were plenty of places to grab some food, a McDonalds, Krispy Kreme, Pizza Hut and more, all very close to the casino area. But you will need to visit other Hotels for the 'posher' restaurants.

The pool area was lovely, with 4 different pools, a bar area and hot tub. Very clean and the bar did waitress service, although the drinks at the bar were pricey. We were given clean towels each time we visited and the pool area was never over crowded, and there was an over 18's pool.

The casino was a bit dated but always quite busy, we found especially at about 1am onwards when they would lower the bets to $5 on Roulette and Black Jack, so a few of the tables were crowded but that makes for a good atmosphere. The casino also gave you a free $20.00 card to play with in the slot machines. Which we actually won a bit of money on...They also held free 'lessons' at 11am in the casino to teach newbies how to play at the tables.

On our last day we had to check out of the hotel at 11am but our flight wasn't until 5pm, but they stored all of our luggage for us and we chilled by the pool all day.

If your going to Vegas to stay in the one hotel then the Excalibur is not for you as it isn't the best or biggest hotel on the strip, but if like us you don't plan to spend much time in your room and your going to explore then I would definitely recommend this hotel. Its cheap, clean and the staff are friendly. Its not the most glamorous hotel on the strip but for £30.00 a night - we certainly had nothing to complain about!!

4 of 5  nice and affordable for Vegas!, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, September 23, 2008

I traveled to Vegas for work, yeah I know work right? But our company did exhibit in a tradeshow and although the tradeshow was short I was in Vegas for 4 days. This was my first and definately not my last trip to Vegas. I did go alone but met up with some colleagues out there.

I flew Allegiant straight from South Bend Indiana to Vegas and I would definately go that route again. Smooth flight, no plane changes just the way I like it!

I stayed at Excalibur because my company had to 'save' some money so 80 dollars a night for a widescreen room at Excalibur seemed more attractive than 259 a night for a standard room at the Mandalay Bay where our convention was. Anyway, check in was smooth but I was checking in around 6:30 pm so most other people may have already been checked in. I do recommend the widescreen rooms which are in tower 2 just because they are updated and seem to be fairly clean and more Vegas like. Tower 1 houses the older rooms which are due to be remodeled in the next 2 years. I was on floor 11 with no view whatso ever, but I am fine with that. You had to pay more to see the strip and who really cares especially if you were barely in your room.

The room was great, beds are extremely hard but again they don't want people staying in their rooms for long hours. Bathroom is great, hairdryer sucks. I have fairly long hair and they hairdryer is a small one which normally are powerful but this one had no power and ended up taking a long time to dry my hair. There is only a shower in the bathroom , no place to sit and shave your legs, only a small soap dish to put your shampoo, conditioner, soap, and razor...who designed this? You can also see in the photo that the vanity in the bathroom is very nice...and tall! I mean my only alternative to shaving in the shower balancing on one leg was to jump up on the vanity and hope that the thing doesn't break. Again nice bathroom but not very well thought out.

Enough about the room, food time! Plenty of places to eat, but really this hotel has quite a bit less of places to eat than other hotels. On the second floor above the casino there is a pizza hut express, quiznos, krispy kreme, starbucks, mcdonalds [open 24/7] , a chinese/japanese type place and then the buffett. I ate at quiznos and mcdonalds [against my will]. There is a Dick's Last Resort on the casino lever, great place to drink [we didn't eat there] but they are intentionally rude so be prepared. I did go to Red, White, and Blue which is in Mandalay Bay and that place has a great breakfast and great drinks! Most other hotels do have nicer sit down restaurants but not Excalibur. I also ate at Margaritaville which is a standard for me any city I go to that has one. The service is great there and who doesn't love a tropical theme? I did stop into Hawaiian Tropic Zone for a drink and they menu seemed decent but we didn't eat there.

Also, there is a tram that goes to Luxor and Mandalay Bay from Excalibur, it is free and saves you lots of walking time!

Away from food now, the Excalibur pool. I only visited the pool for an hour during my stay [too many other things to do] and although I love loungin it was 100 degrees and I wasn't up for being out there very long. Nice area from what I could see and they have a place to eat out there called Drenched.

The strip, the most amazing thing I have seen yet. Gotta love Vegas! I was told to take the Deuce which is a double bus but I just walked, that bus was packed everytime I saw it.

What to take to Vegas. Believe it or not take slacks or jeans, everyone wears them out there. Of course if you are going to a nice club then a dress and or slacks works. Of course walking shoes you would not believe how much you walk! We did about 8 miles a day!

Overall great trip and I cannot wait for my next one!

4 of 5  Nice place, no hassles, A TripAdvisor Member, Herdcyclone, September 22, 2008

First trip to Vegas, chose this hotel because I liked the thought of the Medieval theme. After reading some reviews here, I had some concerns about how this would go. The concerns never materialized.

Checked in on a Thursday night about 8PM. Probably a 3-4 minute wait. I was given a choice of 2 queens or a king room. Asked for a king, they offered to upgrade it to a tower 2 room, though it was a "handicapped" room. No extra charge was asked for. I think the only downside of that is that the bathroom sink area was smaller to accommodate wheelchairs.

I have no idea why I was given Tower 2. I got the room in a package with Allegiant Air. I tried to be extra friendly upon check in, but didn't even ask for anything. Also got an ok view.

I was on the 7th floor facing NYNY (north). Nice room, could have been a little cleaner, but acceptable. Certainly heard street noise at all hours, but it is Vegas, the 24 hour city, no need to get POed about that.

As a newbie, I learned the Tower 1/Tower 2 thing. When looking at pictures, I see 4 "towers". Well Tower 1 is the east and south "towers". It is actually one tower as it is joined in the middle by the elevators, and connecting walkways. Tower 2 is the west and north "towers".

I parked in the ramp to the west. It is kinda of a long walk to the front desk to check in, tho despite what some have wrote here, I thought the signage to find the registration was decent. If you park out back, and if you have never been here, I would highly recommend just walking in without your luggage to check in. Scope out the lay of the land so to speak. Overall you will walk further, but it will cutdown on the distance you need to tote your luggage because the distance to the tower elevators will be shorter.

Think of check in this way-assuming you park out back. You park in Los Angeles, and Washington DC is where you check in. Your elevator will either be in Chicago (Tower 2) or New Orleans (Tower 1). So in my case, the choice would be to drag luggage from LA to DC and back to Chicago. Or walk from LA to DC, walk back to LA, then get your luggage and bring it to Chicago. I guess that is the call you need to make on your own, depending how bulky/heavy your luggage is.

Speaking of elevators, when I first saw them, I thought there would be long lines to use the elevators. I was always able to get on the first car. Another nice thing is they have elevators for floors 2-17, and then for 18 and up. So the people on the higher floors don't need to stop all the way up, nice for them.

I was surprised by the pleasantness of the staff at this hotel. I kinda figured I would get the surly/indifferent service worker attitude, but everybody I dealt with was pleasant.

As for the time share people, I had no issue whatsoever. I saw a couple of them, and most times never even had contact with them. I think I was asked about shows twice, and I gave a quick no thanks, and that was the end of it.

Went to the breakfast buffet twice. Pretty decent place for a buffet. Good selection. Very friendly staff.

Went to the Tournament of Kings. I love that stuff, and it didn't disappoint. I thought the food was pretty good for a mass production delivery. The chicken was spiced nicely and was moist. Drink service was great. Couple refills on water and Pepsi, and available servers for alcohol drinks.

Went to Sponge Bob 3D. Lotsa fun. Way too short of ride, I was enjoying it too much.

This was my first trip to Vegas. If I go back, I would probably stay somewhere else, just to try it out. But would have no concerns about staying here again.

3 of 5  good but over priced, A TripAdvisor Member, Scotland, November 15, 2008

I stayed in this hotel for a week, we were there for a wedding. Hotel is very nice from outside, and inside is comfortable. The downsides were, we were on the ground floor and we had cockroaches!! I would advise you avoid the ground floor! Also it was really cold in the hotel at nights and everything was overpriced! We had to wait a long time for taxis too. Everything else was fine though! I enjoyed my stay but i would book into another hotel if i had to go back to vegas.

3 of 5  You get what you pay for at excalibur, A TripAdvisor Member, Waterford, Ireland, November 15, 2008

This hotel is reasonably priced and as we were in vegas over a weekend it was great to not have to pay extremly high prices. Rooms were comfortable enough and we requested 2 adjoining rooms and the hotel obliged. cleaning staff cleaned room late in the afternoon, which suited us very well. Hotel itself is very average, the location isnt the best, you are far down the strip and we found we needed to walk a long way to get anywhere... even to the monorail (which is very good service)

3 of 5  Not Too Scary Stay Over Halloween, A TripAdvisor Member, Vancouver, BC, November 11, 2008

We decided to see what Vegas was like during Halloween and found pretty good rates at the Excalibur. In fact, the rates kept getting better right up to the day that we stayed and we ended up saving about 35% off what we were originally quoted. Their reservations clerks were very good at updating the rates when we called them.

When we arrived around 4:30 and found that there was not really a long lineup at check-in. They were very helpful and were able to put our group in 3 of the wide screen rooms next to each other.

When we arrived at our room, we found that they were clean and definitely liked the feel of the room. We did have a couple of problems. The in-room safe was locked when we arrived. It was not the fault of the hotel, just the previous guest who should have known better. The blind for the window did not completely cover the window and light did come through the cracks, so it was a little annoying. Still overall, it was fairly comfortable. It wasn't the Bellagio, but we weren't paying for the Bellagio.

The casino itself still had that dark decor and it was definitely dated. It definitely could use a little more lighting, but I have a feeling that MGM Mirage is just waiting to complete their others projects before they decide what to do here.

One thing that I couldn't resist doing was asking for a Bloody Caesar at the bar, which is Clamato juice and Vodka (similar to a Bloody Mary). The bartenders usually don't know what I'm asking for, but the one we asked did and made a decent one.

We only had one meal in the Hotel and it was the breakfast buffet, which was at best average, but definitely a lot better than we had at the Imperial Palace a while back.

We didn't have any problems with the timeshare people. We knew where they were most of the time and they seemed to key on couples rather than groups, so we didn't have to worry about them.

Overall, the hotel was okay to stay at. It wasn't overly fancy, but we weren't paying for that. We enjoyed the overall trip, especially Halloween night. If the costs were the same, we would definitely consider staying here again.

3 of 5  Excalibur compared to others is middle of the road, A TripAdvisor Member, Santa Barbara, CA USA (Buellton, CA), November 8, 2008

stayed here over memoriial day weekend and I upgraded to a Jaczzzi tub room which the tub was great with little windows out to look out the side of the castle. I loved the tub it was the high point of the hotel. If u dont upgrade to a tub room the rooms only have a shower. Now the ned was the hardest bed Ive ever slept on and I mean it was terrible hard I heard this before but coouldnt beleive it how bad it was. I probloly wouldnt stay here dur to this problem. There was no room service at this hotel which I felt was unreal. I had a heck of a time ordereing food to go from the restraunt. I didnt want to dine as I was alone and 5 1/2 months pregnant. the room decor is dark but not bad I did stay in one of the remodled room with the large wide screen tv and I liked that I just find it hard to beleive these were not the old beds they couldnt be new. The casino is the smokiest Ive ever stayed at u can cut it with a knife. They need work on the ventalation. I did not gamble here so not sure about that. The front desk was friendly and the bell men were helpful allthough it took some finding them when I checked out and they went mia with my stuff which was scary all in all it worked out ok the location is great a short walk to mgm nyny tropicana and luxor mandalay bay. for the price I paid was a good deal. I woud like to stay again but would have a hard time getting over the bed situation. If you are not there to sleep I suggest staying here I needed rest and required a good bed so in that respecet do not recommed. after two days I went downtown to the Golden Nugget and got the best sofest beds for two nights at a great deal and really enjoyed staying downtown which IO always do its nice idea to spend a couple days on teh strip and a couple downtown you realy get the full vegas experience. i have stayed at MGM TROPICANA SAHARA HOOTERS PALMS HARD ROCK GOLDEN NUGGET IMPERIAL PALACE HARRHAS TREASURE ISLAND FOUR QUEENS LAS VEGAS CLUB THE FREEMONT GOLD COAST PALACE STATION FITZGERALDS (Gross)and few more I forgot but excalibur was middle of the road compared to the other placed Ive stayed for sure. Didnt go to the pool either. Have a good trip

3 of 5  good price and 'ok', A TripAdvisor Member, Singapore, November 8, 2008

Just stayed one night in tower one, huge trek from the car park with bags if you don't use the valet.

Room is typical motel style and a bit tired but everything works. Sheets were clean but a bit 'gray' and a couple of holes.

Great price of about $60 for a week night.

F&B is pretty awful and the casino very down market, but NY NY is right next door

A colleague stayed in Tower two which he said was refurbed with flat screen tv etc and seemed better although the shower hadn't been upgraded ( and it was more expensive)

3 of 5  Nice room/ Bad Cafe service, A TripAdvisor Member, wisconsin, November 5, 2008

My wife and I stayed the first weekend in November. For the money we paid ($700 total), 3 nights/4 days with flight from Chicago, it was a great value. The only problem we had in the room was a sink that would not drain. All I did was pull the plunger out and set it on the sink with a note for housekeeping to please have fixed. Never was fixed they would just plop it back in. We ate at the buffet for breakfast, it was tasty and there were quite a few choices. Tried to eat at the Sherwood Forest Cafe, like all reviews state, terrible service. We were sat down right a way, however never seen a server, left after 20 minutes of waiting to order. Overall hotel staff friendly and helpful. The one exception being the bell desk clerk at checkout. She was very rude and when I asked her questions she would "huff" then give me a sarcastic answer. The biggest tip that I can pass along about vegas in general is, if you walk as couple time share sellers bother you at every casino. So we found it helpful to split up when you walk into the casinos, they don't harass you when your alone.

3 of 5  Absolutely nothing special, A TripAdvisor Member, Sweden, November 5, 2008

This hotel is like a gigantic no-name standard city hotel. The room was OK, clean and reasonably quiet. The casino and the restaurants are horrible. You nead to protect yourself from the noise - gambling machines and a couple of different music styles simultaneously everywhere you go.

We went to the Tournament of Kings show one night and loved it - except for the food that was barely eatable.

3 of 5  GREAT hotel on a budget, A TripAdvisor Member, St Louis MO, October 28, 2008

My husband and I planned a trip to Las Vegas in August 2008, to get married. We decided to stay at Excalibur because it was more budget-friendly than the other hotels on the strip. We arrived before noon, and our room wasnt ready yet. The room that WAS available for us was not the room promised to us. We requested that we be on the same floor, within close proximity to the other 5 rooms that we're booked for our family and friends. This room was over 40 rooms away. That was fine, we had to go get our marriage license anyway. By the time we got back to Excalibur, our room still wasnt ready and it was after 2:00 pm. Not a big deal, check in wasnt until 3:00 anyway.

By the time we finally got into our room it was the wrong room. We requested a king size bed, instead we recieved 2 queens. We moved rooms. The 2nd room we got, the air conditioner did not work. It made for an uncomfortable evening I'm sure you can imagine, in 100 degree heat. None the less, we made it through and the next morning we were switched to yet another room. This room was just fine. We opted to stay in Tower I (the older rooms) and it was okay. Just a typical hotel style room. Nothing fancy, but it was just fine.

On our last night, because of it being our wedding/honeymoon, the hotel upgraded us to a room in Tower II at no charge. I thought this was very nice of them.

Overall our experience at the hotel was fine. It wasnt too crowded, and the choice of food was pretty good. The Sherwood Forest Cafe had really good food, and its open all night. (of course right??) Dick's Last Resort was a little disappointing however. The food was crazy expensive, and wasnt worth it at all. We got burgers, and they tasted as though they were pre-packaged frozen ones. Not a fan. The place though, is GREAT for relaxing and having a drink. Its an upbeat fun place to go.

The location of Excalibur is pretty good also. I cant really complain about this place, and we're planning to go back to Vegas next August for our anniversary. We'll probably stay at MGM this time though. Its MUCH nicer for the money. Same price as a Tower II room at Excalibur, and worth it.

If you decide on this hotel, opt for the Tower II room. Its a fabulous upgrade from Tower I, and MUCH closer to the pool. I'm not a fan of having to walk through the casino in my bathing suit.

3 of 5  Cheesy hotel, Better for Kids, A TripAdvisor Member, sunny, az, October 17, 2008

For our first time to Las Vegas we went with the cheapest but reputable place and booked at Excalibur. Having never been to Vegas we didn't realize it was on the opposite end of the strip. The hotel and accomadations were fine. There was no fun place to drink and dance at night though (we're in our 20's). The hotel is geared more towards families, although I won't take our kids to Vegas. The next time we went to Vegas we stayed at Flamingo and we were much happier! Middle of the strip and better rooms and things to do!

3 of 5  Tale of Two Hotels, A TripAdvisor Member, Woodstock, GA, September 25, 2008

This hotel has a split personality. The rooms in the tower 1 are old and dingy. They have not been updated in decades I guess. On the other hand we went to the spa and it is great, modern equipment and locker rooms and the pool is top notch. So you can see the issues. I think that MGM will continue to improve the hotel and it needs it.

3 of 5  good hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, dublin, September 23, 2008

good location on strip, one of my luckiest casinos too.

no probs with check in or out, on arrival to room, we had trouble with room safe, within five mins of talking to reception soembody came to fix it, after the engineer left we had a follow up call to ensure we were happy, nice touch.

found the restaurants and bars in casino reasonable priced too, pool area looked good but was too hot for me.

not sure if i would stay here again as there are so many other interesting hotels to see, at the same time would recommend it to a friend.

2 of 5  excalibur-horrible buffet!! older hotel-hostile hotel, A TripAdvisor Member, new jersey, November 12, 2008

If going to las vegas-don't eat at excalibur, dinner our first night was terrible! quality was very poor, tasted bad. last night we were there we decided to try one last time for breakfast---inedible, even my kids were grossed out, again quality soo poor, french toast, hard and nasty, pancakes tasteless, eggs were processed kind, apple sauce sour and spoiled, fruit old , oatmeal undercooked, hard pieces in it, the worst i have ever had! i can't believe that they are in business! anyway, we ate at different buffets all through the vacation, besides the first night and last morning. we ate at circus circus and mandalay bay for breakfast---excellent both!! delicious quality, and variety! mandalay bay had alot of european styla also, meats and actual food for breakfast, entrea's and things, also such a good variety of fish and lox, personal omlette guy working at at station. clean-was very very good. circus circus was just fabulous, beverage section was huge, hot cocoa-the best ever, every kind of juice and coffee . everything fresh, so much variety and the crepes/blintzes, so good, powdered sugar/fruit filled. fresh!! they make omlettes for you right there. anyway, excalibur is ok as a hotel , we enjoyed the pool, we stayed in newer tower 2 for an extra $20 a night. old tower 1 was very old and discusting. tips are expected and demanded, very rude-some of the staff in valet service and front desk. i guess the upper scale hotels don't have that? overall , if i stayed again, would stay elsewhere-new york new york, most reasonable quick food, excellent pizza place.

2 of 5  Nice place to sleep but not much else, A TripAdvisor Member, Philadelphia area, November 3, 2008

My wife and I stayed at the Excalibur for our third anniversary. After seeing the hotel/casino during prior trips to Vegas we had a good idea on what to expect -- sort of a mish-mosh of Las Vegas and Disneyworld atmospheres with a dash of glitz and glamor.

The room was nice. We didn't bother updating to one of the more modern (Flatscreen TV) rooms. Aside from a stain on the carpet the room was clean and odor-free and more spacious than we anticipated. Even the bathroom was nice, although those expecting a "suite" or "spa" style bathroom will be disappointed.

The ease of making it from your room to the Vegas Strip was not that great. It took on average at least a good five minutes to make it from our elevator, downstairs, through the casino and over the seemingly half-mile-long series of people movers and walkways until we could get to the foot of the bridge to the Tropicana, the bridge to NY/NY or the tram to Mandalay Bay.

And that not counting the countless times we had to walk past the rude, obnoxious and unneccessary "Would you like a free gift!?" timeshare salespeople stations both INSIDE and outside of virtually every entrance/exit from the hotel. The Bellagio doesn't have this. MGM Grand doest have this. Caesar's doesn't have this. And you know why? Because they're all a class above the Excalibur. It's bad enough we had to endure these time-share sharks more often than the migrant Porn-etta workers who try to hand out cards/flyers along the Strip for various "adult" services. The abrasive and often annoying timeshare salespeople who wound many times block your path to give you a hard sales pitch would ask us every single time we passed them in the hotel if we wanted "free gifts" or if we were staying in the hotel or if we were planning to see any shows. Even if the same person just asked us five minutes prior. The Excalibur really needs to boot these people from their premises if they expect to get any return business.

The eateries in the hotel, with the exception of "Dick's Last Resort" were abysmal. I know from past visits that the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant (Regale) are no better than your average Outback or Olive Garden on a good day. This time we decided to give the Buffet a go, figuring how bad could it be to mess up breakfast. Well, everything was cold. Not warm or lukewarm...COLD. You're much better off taking the tram to Mandalay Bay. I wouldn't recommend eating anywhere inside of the Excalibur except for Dick's which was pretty entertaining, had good food and good sized portions.

The bars/lounges in the Excalibur casino were sub-par. The entertainment at "The Lounge" was about what you could expect but the service from the waitress was beyond bad. After ordering a beer and a soda for my wife and I we got our drinks about fifteen minutes later and gave the server a $3 tip. We were then ignored and visibly passed-by for the next forty five minutes. At one point the waitress actually went to every table around us taking orders then turned her back on us as she took the empty bottle from our table. I had to go to the bar to order another round and then brought it back to my own table. Not even that act got attention from the waitress. We left out of frustration and went to another casino instead.

The Wedding Chapel was nice (we renewed our vows) and relatively affordable. As for entertainment in the hotel, unless you think Louie Anderson is funny or want to see half naked Australian men, there's not much there for you. Finally, I attended the Tournament of Kings dinner show back in 2003 and then again in 2005. It was the same show both times. We were advised that nothing in the show had changed even by 2008 so we passed on it this time around. It would behoove the owners of the casino and the folks behind the Tournament of Kings to maybe think about changing up the storyline a bit year after year to keep people coming to the show. Otherwise it's a one and done type of thing.

The new pool was nice. Too bad it was never open. I can't understand why they would advertise this new attraction and then not allow anyone to use it. I was pleased to see an "adult only" pool area, which meant those who were at the hotel without children could have their own pool and sunbathing area without having to worry about screaming, splashing and everything else that comes with a "family friendly" pool.

Check-in and check-out were easy. Maid service was great! And again, that brings me back to why I said that the Excalibur is a great place to sleep but everything else leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not likely to stay there again unless there are many changes.

2 of 5  Good Value, A TripAdvisor Member, Edmonton, Canada, November 2, 2008

A good value at $300 for four nights including a Friday. Older room, no view but it was clean and the bed comfortable. Pillows runty.

Minuses-parking lot next to Tower 1 is puny, and hauling hockey equipment through the Casino from the Tower 2 entrance not fun.

Buffet kind of uninspired-I ate at Luxor's the next night and the few $$$ extra was well spent.

AC noisy at times-the fan motor was shot, but I turned it off at night and opened the window so no biggie. Every morning I smelled cooking bacon which was kind of repulsive-I eat pork but this smell was overpowering.

I stayed here because friends had booked in-I would rather have spent another $100 and stayed at Luxor or something similar.

2 of 5  Mostly hit, some miss, A TripAdvisor Member, Birmingham, October 30, 2008

Not bad; room not available when we arrived, got a minimal upgrade. The new rooms look nice but they are very cheaply made with cheap wood etc. Heating was broken, safe was broken. To their credit the heat was fixed within 2 minutes.

Pool; very nice area, chilled out. At the spa staff did not want to know which is a shame as it is actually a nice spa. Staff at Sherwood Forest Cafe very pleasant and accomodating. The lady at the MGMMirage Players club desk (I'm thinking Chantel??) was just delightful. And I will now hand over my Man Card for saying "Just delightful" !

Didn't use the buffet as the whole world and his/her dog had warned me not to. The Dollar rental car within the hotel is lousy; Customer Service OK, but the actaul cars are a nightmare.

Like the food court upstairs and from the last time I stayed here 4 years ago the hotel has improved. anyone with a sense of humour stop by Dick's Last Resort but go outside peak meal times you'll have more fun/interation with the staff. Cheers.

look fency from the outside, and the lobby is very nice.

we got a stinky room, shiti shower and overall not a good room, even tough it was on the 14th flor (high=good).

get another hotel.

it's location is quite good, in the beggining of the "real" strip and just across the street from MGM and NYNY,

2 of 5  disappointed and angry, A TripAdvisor Member, Sydney, October 22, 2008

My family and I stayed here for four nights during September.

Unlike most people , it would seem, I actually PAID full price to stay in one of the nicer rooms.

What really cheesed me off is that, for the days we were there, the two biggest pools were closed!!!! My poor kids had to battle through crowds just to have a dip in the ONE pool that they were allowed to enter! Also, with people smoking around the pool and dropping their ash into the water, we actaully thought the kids could get burnt! Between those people and the ones drinking in the pool, it was a challenge to escape unscathed.

We ate at the buffet for breakfast, but after being made to wait 15 minutes for no reason ( the restaurant was half full at most) and experiencing the quality of food we never went back.

The food at the Monte Carlo was 1000 times better and at least the service was evident!

To be honest the room itself was very nice - but for the price it should have been!

The tournament of Kings was a great show for the kids and we would recommend it for all families - but again, don't be stupid like me and pay full price! There is a cheap ticket booth near the M&M shop so buy them from there.

I guess the lesson I learned was to do your homework BEFORE arriving.

I filled in an evaluation of my visit but, surprise, surprise, the Excalibur has not even bothered to get in contact with me.

This sums up the attitude of the place!!!!

Stay away!!!!

2 of 5  Disappointing for what appears to be a "high-quality" hotel., A TripAdvisor Member, DLG007, October 21, 2008

Last time I was in Vegas I stayed in the cheapest hotel I could find - the Aruba. Well, this time I thought I would splurge a little more and stay in the heart of the Strip. When I got there, I was in kind of a hurry to meet my friends and start our weekend. I go in the door and it looks like they intentionally hide the check-in counter. I wandered all over the casino dragging my suitcase through the slots and table areas and I finally found it. The room was pretty clean, although the headboard type things they have hanging on the wall was pretty dusty. The view was not like the pictures on the website, and even if it was good, it wouldn't matter because our shades didn't roll up. We complained TWICE and nothing at all was done. Then the TV - there are very few channels and the picture is horrible. Not that I stayed in the room very much, but you see that they have these big screen HDTV's and expect something better. If the channels aren't HD and you don't get very many, what's the point? Then, don't try to pay for anything at the Excalibur stores with a $100 dollar bill, evern though that's all the ATM's will give you if you withdraw more than $80. They employees were also very rude about it each time I tried to pay with a hundred. It's a casino. There's no reason they can't have enough cash on hand.

Overall, it was OK. The customer service was just really lacking. It was much better at the fleabag Aruba we stayed at. The Excalibur is in a great location and a cheap cab ride from the aiport.

P.S. Eat the breakfast buffet but not the dinner buffet. It's expensive and bad. Eat at the Bellagio.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I just got back yesterday, so everything's fresh in my mind.

2 of 5  Beware of Prostitutes at Night, A TripAdvisor Member, michigan, October 20, 2008

Booked at Excalibur with 2 other couples, Requested 3 rooms ajoining, was placed on same floor 13th but not togeather. Also tried, begged to be upgraded but was turnned down,We booked threw Spiritvacations and this was a no frills trip. Our second stay at the Castle love the easy parking once you get the layout of hotel. I was the guide everyone else spent alot of time lost.

Our room was clean ,maid was good,TV fine. Blow dryer was cold air bring your own if you have long hair. Pool was clean, nice bar down there also. The time share people will leave you alone just don't make eye contact.

My problem was the amount of Prostitutes male and female and BI that come out at night, they were even tapping on the shoulders of men playing the slots. They were inside the casino near the elevators and outside on walkways searching for customers. times must be tuff for everyone I guess but I don't like the idea of them useing the same rooms we rent. I will stay some place with more class next trip.

No one in our group won any money playing here. And the new rule of one drink per player is true.

And if your going to change clothes etc. close the curtains at night every room is fair game.

2 of 5  Disappointing Service, A TripAdvisor Member, Chicago, IL, September 24, 2008

Check in at Excalibur went very quickly. I did tip the front desk to receive a better room and was given a newly renovated, king bed with a view of the strip.

Room appeared ok, big screen TV, king bed, table with a chair and another "lazy" boy type chair. Bathroom was pretty nice with granite counter top and large shower. Bathroom amenities were pretty sparse with the small bottle of conditioning shampoo, lotion and small soaps.

A light bulb was burned out in the bathroom making it pretty dark. I called housekeeping and they said they would send someone up to replace the bulb. I unpacked and waited roughly an hour but no one showed.

Sink in the bathroom did not drain very quickly either.

That night I discovered the king bed had been short sheeted and the sheets moved up to where I was basically sleeping on a bare mattress...no mattress pad either - ick! Also, the A/C unit was very loud coming on and off along with a very noisy room where you could easily hear traffic and sirens during the night. The pillows were the size of postage stamps so needless to say, the next day I was tired. I did leave the maid a tip and requested she correct the sheets along with please having the light bulb in the bathroom replaced.

Came back to the room that night and the light bulb was laying in the bathroom but no bulb had been placed in the socket so now I just had a light with no bulb. Bed sheets were the same as the day before.....short and uncomfortable to sleep on.

I stayed at the hotel for five nights since I was working a trade show nearby and never was the light bulb replaced. I finally took a bulb out of a lamp in the bedroom so I could see in the bathroom. Sheets were never corrected....not sure why they would have king beds with not having king sheets!!! There was a glass and a beer bottle in the hallway all week until the day I left the hotel.

Hotel is located ok near the south end of the strip but walkable to other hotels along with tram availability. Not sure what they are thinking with the "go go" girls dancing on the gaming tables in the "party pit" but since it is Vegas....guess anything goes. Class is not what I would say applies to Excalibur and obviously neither is service. This place is really just a step above a motel 6 so keep that in mind when booking. If the rate is cheap, then it is probably worth putting up with the other issues.

2 of 5  ok, wouldnt stay again, A TripAdvisor Member, La Puente, CA, September 23, 2008

Went for a wedding, it has a good location but not worth it. I would suggest taking your time and looking up a good deal there are lots of them. I tried the new widescreen rooms they are average at best

2 of 5  OK, but would not stay again, A TripAdvisor Member, Rowlett, Texas, September 22, 2008

We arrived at the hotel at 10pm and just wanting to check into our room quickly. We were confronted by a man , who we thought was a hotel employee, but as it turned out, he was just trying to sell us a time share and just wasted our time.

When we finally got to the registration desk, we were informed that there would be a $1 surcharge per night to have a telephone in our room, regardless of whether or not you used the phone.

The room itself was very bland with not much decoration. One thing we did miss in the room was a coffee machine, I thought these were pretty much standard nowadays.

On the plus side, the casino was nice and the buffet at the hotel wasn't to outrageously priced.

New York, New York was across the street from the Excalibur and after walking around that hotel it appear much nicer. So if I go back, I will not be staying at the Excalibur, but more than likely, across the street at New York, New York.

1 of 5  Great slots, but stay elsewhere, A TripAdvisor Member, Illinois, November 13, 2008

My sister-in-law booked this deal through a travel agent with allegiant air. Allegiant Air is great if you're flying out of Peoria, IL into Vegas. Fast and convenient, no long security lines. However, the Excalibur is not the place to stay. We arrived at 6pm. They told us to check in together, so our rooms would be close together. Well, they changed to a smoking room and didn't have a problem, we were told we would have to pay an extra $10 a night for our reserved non-smoking, king size bed. They would not budge, so we took a double bed room, as I figured we wouldn't be there much. Bathroom was nice, large and clean. In my brother's room, the windows were open. Turns out that was to get rid of the sewage smell, no luck. They were finally offered to switch rooms after 2 hours of complaining and being offered a can of air freshener. In the new room, the toilet seat was busted and his wife fell onto the floor. 2 more hours to get that fixed. The hotel offered them free breakfast. Whoopee! The beds are hard as rocks and our air conditioning one day wouldn't turn off and the next wouldn't turn on. This hotel is being remodeled and needs it. Buffet was so-so for breakfast and dinner. I recommend the Krispy Kreme, cheaper and much tastier. The slots are better than the neighboring Luxor and Mandalay Bay. We found them to pay out better earlier in the day. There was also a certain smell, not sewage, in the hallway, the last two days we were there, security was standing 15 feet away and claimed they couldn't do anything, because they can't go into everyone's rooms. Hello, have they heard of a maid. The last straw was finding out, after being lied to 4 times, that we had over $140 in comps coming, we managed to get a supervisor at the players club to give it to us after 30 mins. $90 at the bar and $50 for breakfast, as we were leaving in 12 hours. Don't always pick the bargain, you get what you pay for.

1 of 5  It isn't worth staying, A TripAdvisor Member, South Carolina, November 11, 2008

It was a bad experience. We booked a non smoking room and finally we had a smoking room. The hostess wasn't friendly and didn't try to help us. Moreover, the hotel and the room were dirty. There are lots of better places in Las Vegas...

1 of 5  Where is my big white box!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, L.A., October 29, 2008

This is the third time that we have stayed at the Excalibur hotel in less than one year, and we have never had a problem. This last time we stayed on October the 15th. for a wedding at the Excalibur chapel, which we had recommended to our friends.

We checked in Wednesday 15th. at 2:00 p.m, attended the wedding at 5:00pm, had dinner and came back to our room. On Thursday the 16th. we got ready to leave packing everything in a rush because we were getting close to check out time. We left the room at 10:40am and got to check out by 11:00am. Unfortunately during our rush we forgot a big white box with a pair of black boots and one pair of nice leather shoes that we actually bought one day before for the wedding. Even more unfortunate was that we did not notice until we got back home Sunday morning and unpacked the car.

We called the hotel, checked with lost and found and housekeeping several times and then we filed a report with security. During our conversations we were told that the lost items were not the hotels responsibility and most employees have worked there for a long time so it wasn’t like someone would get fired over this (Which we thought was a strange thing to say). Honestly we just want our shoes back, they were expensive, we liked them and we just bought them. We weren’t looking for someone to get in trouble, we just wanted our shoes back.

The only person that could have been there after we left was the housekeeper and they missed a large white box? That is unbelievable. We can't believe that they couldn't find a big white box and then we hear such strange things as denials of responsibility and statements regarding people not getting in trouble? Doesn’t the hotel have cameras in these hallways? Is this just self-protection or does the hotel not want to believe that employees can steal?

1 of 5  sub standard hotel and service, A TripAdvisor Member, Edmonton, October 19, 2008

We stayed at this hotel from October 13th through 17th in October 2008. We stayed in a "Widescreen room" which has a flat screen LCD TV and pillow top beds. The room was dirty upon arrival. The headboard was covered with a thick layer of dust. The LCD TV was very poor quality and we only had 13 channels to watch at the end of the day. The floor had crumbs on it and the overall feel of this "upgraded" room left us wondering how bad the regular room would have been. We asked for two empty wine glasses to be sent up to the room and they charged us $5 plus tax for delivery. The staff in the hotel were only interested in selling shows and selling us another vacation at this hotel. They were not at all interested in answering any questions about our current stay; they were only interested in getting us to come back so they could obtain more money. Overall, the casino, restaurants, and facilities were poor when compared to all other hotels we visited on this trip. Upon leaving the hotel, we were asked if we enjoyed our stay here. I replied by stating some of the items mentioned above. The response from the staff member was "Oh, that's too bad, how would you like to stay at our sister hotel, The Luxor, next time? I said "good luck and no thanks". I would recommend any other hotel on the strip for your stay. Beware! Cheap prices means "cheap hotel" when it comes to the Excalibur.

1 of 5  Under no circumstances should you stay here!!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Brook Park, Ohio, October 7, 2008

We stayed at the Excalibur eight years ago and some friends wanted to try it again, so we went back with them. WHAT A MISTAKE!! The smoke is so thick in this place you can cut it with a knife...even in the stores you can't breathe! Upon checking in we were offered an upgrade to the "NEW" tower with the remodeled rooms for an extra $20.00 a night...so we took it. The upgraded rooms are filthy and discusting. There were stains all over the carpeting...the bedspreads were stained and torn. The curtains on the windows were also stained with something ugly. The air conditioner barely worked. The shower glass door was broken out of the track, The maid never changed the white rug in front of our shower which had a black stain on it, even tho we kept throwing it in the dirty towels pile on a daily basis!! You are charged one dollar a day for use of the phone, whether you use it or not..one of many hidden charges! The biggest and most important flaw at this place is that you can NEVER I mean NEVER get a drink while gambling in their casino. First time we waited an hour for a waitress and ended up chasing one down the isle. This is the WORST place on the strip to gamble if you like to have a cocktail while you are giving them all your money!!! Unlike other places they only allow you one drink at a time...even tho I complained profusely to the girl that we waited an hour to find her!! House rules...one drink at a time, and then they only let the cocktail waitresses come out once an hour!!! This hotel is old and terribly run down and is NOT worth the money that they charge you to stay there. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else in Vegas !!!!!!
