5 of 5  loved the Caribbean Cove Water Park, A TripAdvisor Member, Warsaw, IN, March 8, 2005

We visited the Caribbean Cove in Indianapolis on a Sunday/Monday, Feb. 27th-28th. We booked a suite for the same price that a double room would cost on the weekend. Our suite had a king bed, queen sleeper sofa in the living room, huge restroom with jettted tub-although you may not use that, microwave, mini-fridge and enough space for a relaxing stay for a family of 4. We are waterpark savvy- having visited the Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio and the Wilderness on the Lake in the Wisconsin Dells. That being said, you have to pack a "waterpark" bag where you pack dry clothes to travel home in and plastic bags to put your wet suits in. (If you are like me, you also pack fairly light for a waterpark weekend anyway.) Obviously you will not find the same amenities as those waterparks in the Dells, although we enjoyed the fact that the "Cove" had the 3 big waterslides, 1 where you use a raft or innertubes, and 2 body slides. It also had a Lazy River, a fun play pool for younger children, and a basketball area where my 2 sons had a blast. We also enjoyed the Holidome pool which is located through the double doors- it was quiet and rather empty-especially on a Monday morning. The staff at the Holiday Inn Select was helpful and friendly and we had no problems with our room service breakfast order. We did walk across the parking lot and had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse which I would suggest with a family of boys!! Again, I feel that the timing of our visit made the biggest difference-low crowds-lots of lifeguard attention and nice surroundings made for a relaxing, long weekend where I felt very safe and had a great time with my family. As a Hoosier and one who loves Indianapolis, I am thrilled to have a waterpark option in this great city!!!

5 of 5  Awesome place, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, March 22, 2009

We just got back to day from a weekend trip to Indy for spring break. There were 10 of us all together. It was but 1 night get 1 free GREAT VALUE!! My children ages 16, 11, & 7 and niece 9 and nephews 12 LOVED the waterpark. I enjoyed the hot tubs in the park. It was sold out all weekend but the water park was never overloaded as I had read in other reviews. Kids eat free w/ adults in the cafe in the lobby. Very affordable and wonderful buffett. Rooms were clean...good sized and very pleasent. Our room was on the ground floor close to the waterpark but very quiet. My brothers room was across the hall and had access to the holidome. This was great...Great pool area...WONDERFUL Kids club my daughters and niece loved it. The staff was top notch. I had heard stories of high chlorine in the pool but we thought it was ok...no smell of it...and we didnt smell like it when we came out of the water. The exercise area was nice. Beautifuly decorated lobby, holidome and cafe. Overall we all LOVED IT!!! I will definetly bring my family back again.

5 of 5  LOVED THIS PLACE!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Carbondale, IL, January 26, 2009

I stayed at this hotel on business. I had stayed here previously, about 2 years ago when it was a Holiday Inn Select, so there are a few comparisons I can make.

First of all, While I like Noble Roman's Pizza, I miss the Pizza Hut Express that was in there when it was a HI SELECT. Second, why did they have to remove the Piano?

But the rooms were just as clean and wonderful as I remembered. The beds were comfortable, and when I asked for a balcony room, they gave me one with no trouble (which was awesome considering I was only paying $41.00)

I wish that this was still a Holiday Inn Select, as it catered more to the type of clientele I am used to being around. (business travelers). The INDY SPORTS GRILLE was better off as BENCHWARMERS, but the staff were nice, and I enjoyed Caribbean Cove.

Wonderful Wonderful Place, and I will return here if I am in the IND area again.

5 of 5  Not Bad!, A TripAdvisor Member, Illinois, March 27, 2008

We went to this hotel with a group recently and were satisified. Check-in was quick and easy, got up to our room on the 3rd floor. Clean and nice, but nothing new or fancy. We also had ajoining rooms with some others from our group. The waterpark is a lot of fun! There is a lot to do, expically w/younger kids. The arcade and snack bar upstairs from the waterpark (but with stair access from it), also where the parents sat. The arcade is pretty small. but fun! When we went, the hotel was (i'm guessing) sold out, becuase the lines for everything were bad!! To get a personal pan pizza from the snack bar at the waterpark, we must have waited 30 minutes, there were so many kids, not enough staff or cooking space to acc. everyone. The food was ok. Other than the snack bar, the only other place we ate was the snack bar in the other part of the hotel-he holidome area. This is the pool area for hotel guests w/o the waterpark pkg. We ate breakfast here and the biscuits and gravy were not very good. I think the gravy had been sitting there too long. We did not have the buffet as there were around 20 people in our group at $10/person! All-in-all, we had a pretty good experience with our stay at this holiday inn. I will say that I have seen much better from holiday inn's, but what can you expect when you have hundreds of kids every night running around the place. If you are planning on staying for business, I would suggest another hotel. This hotel is SO kid friendly, which is what we liked most! We will be back! Oh, and another thing-plan on taking the stairs a lot, as the elevators are all over the hotel, but the one in our area there was constantly a line, and at one point in our stay, that particular elevator was broke and marked "out of order"

5 of 5  Had a Great Time, A TripAdvisor Member, Muncie, Indiana, March 27, 2007

We arrived at the hotel around 11:45 (me and three 13 year old boys) and were greeted by an extremely friendly, courteous, and enthusiastic “Debbie.” She informed us that our room was all ready and we immediately were able to get into our room. Our room was clean, properly stocked, and I was impressed with the cleanliness of the entire hotel, in addition to all the staff that I observed continually cleaning up. As they provide the towels, I was also impressed that the tables were always stocked with clean, fresh towels by the poolside and in the waterpark. I thought the lifeguards

were okay – they have a monotonous job doing what they do in such an enclosed, loud environment. I thought the people behind the eateries within the hotel and waterpark were very friendly – even the clerks who work the arcade and the prize counter were very friendly with what they have to deal with day-in and day-out. Overall, I felt we really got our monies worth by arriving early one day and then staying the next day until 3 PM. My only recommendation would be an outdoor deck of some sort for parents to be able to sun outdoors when the weather is nice. When the boys got tired of the waterpark, they would walk around the hotel, spent time in the arcarde and played pool.

5 of 5  Birthday for 2 grandson's, A TripAdvisor Member, Southern Indiana, February 21, 2006

This was a owesome birthay for our grandson's. The staff were excellent and careing. This was a very clean Holiday Inn. Great visit will return next year and a few after that.

5 of 5  LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Decatur, IL, February 15, 2006

This is our second time going to the waterpark and we just LOVE it! Spent the night with our 3 kids ages 13, 6 and 5 and they had a great time!! The staff was very friendly and helpful! The lifeguards are so AWESOME! They are very attentive and nice to the kids and parents. The rooms are pretty nice, we requested more towles, and extra blankets and with in minutes someone was at our door bringing them to us. They brought us a BIG stack of towels and nice blankets. I would highly recomend this fun time to parents who just want to get away for the weekend to spend some good clean fun with their kids. I think my husband had more fun going down the water slides than the kids! We will be going back again soon!

5 of 5  LOVED it CAnt wait to go back!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, February 13, 2006

My husband, my two kids ages two and five, and myself went to the Holiday inn for a weekend getaway! We loved it. The water park was great! The kids had a blast! We had a hard time getting them out of there. We even had fun chasing them around a playing on the slides ourselves! The staff was awesome and very attentive to our needs. We called the front desk to ask for more towels less than 5 minutes later they were knocking on ourdoor with towels! I never experienced one rude employee while we were there and I am a very picky person!!The rooms were comfortable and very clean! the beds were comfortable and the pillows were the best For a hotel I was very impressed!! The food was good although pretty expensive!! But for the conveinence of being able to go straight to the food bar from the water park was worth it! Like I said before I consider myself a very picky peron and I was very impressed with this hotel and We cant wait to go back!!

5 of 5  Loved Caribbean Cove and everything about this hotel!, A TripAdvisor Member, louisville, ky, December 25, 2005

This hotel and water park are terrific! We stayed one night with our 7 and 3 year-old, plus my brother's family (kids, 6, 9 and 10).

At check-in, the desk attendant informed my husband that the rates had dropped since our original booking and immediately credited our account $100!! Needless to say -- a fantastic first-impression!

Not only is the water park fun and appealing to guests of every age, it is clean and chock-full of very attentive life guards.

We ate two meals at the restaurant, which was just fine - can't beat the free kids meals. We opted for dinner across the street at Texas Roadhouse for a change of pace - which is a very short 3 minute walk and delicious and great value.

The playroom and the 'counselors' on duty were fantastic -- plenty of games, arts & crafts and even free cookie decorating after dinner! There's even a little putt-putt area outside the playroom, plus foosball, pool, and a big screen tv.

Loved this place and will definitely return!

5 of 5  Overall Great Time, A TripAdvisor Member, Indianapolis, IN, November 15, 2005

My husband and I, along with our 3 children 9,8&6 stayed @ the hotel for just a weekend getaway. We had so much fun. There was plenty of things for the kids to do, and not just the waterpark. There was an entire agenda for the kids, every hour was something different for them to do all weekend. It was hard for them to decide what all to do. It was also fun for me to help with crafts, games and even sit with them @ movie time. We are sure to visit again soon, and tell everyone of our wonderful experience.

5 of 5  Awesome!, A TripAdvisor Member, washington IN, October 17, 2005

I am a single mother of 2 children, a 5 1/2 year old son and a 2 1/2 year old daughter. We spent 2 nights and 3 days there over our fall break. We had a blast. Even though neither of my children knew how to swim, they had a blast in the kiddie area with the pirate ship. The arcade and game room upstairs was super as well. We did not experience long lines at all even though the hotel was sold out both nights. They also have an arts and crafts room for children. My children made puppy/kitty slippers one night and enjoyed playing with the staff in there. The game tables along the sides of the holidome were a nice addition too. My children ate free in the one restaurant and they loved the food. I, myself, thought it was very good. We also spent some time exploring the Indianapolis Zoo and The Children's Museum on Friday and Saturday. I will definitely take my children back when they are a little older that way they can experience the water slides and other things at the hotel. Lastly, the hotel staff was very courtious to me and my family. We didn't have any problems at all.

4 of 5  Awesome staff and great value for lots of fun, A TripAdvisor Member, Illinois, March 28, 2009

We called for the Splash and Discover package and it was much cheaper than online rates. 2nd night was free and we got 4 passes to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. Package included 4 water park bracelets for 3 days. The customer service at the hotel was top notch. The guys at the Calypso Cafe were awesome and very nice. The guy at the ticket counter for the game room was very nice as well. My kids were a few tickets short for a prize they really wanted and they gave it to hem anyway. Waterpark was great!

4 of 5  Great family experienc, A TripAdvisor Member, Louisville, KY, November 29, 2008

We just spent the Friday after Thanksgiving at this hotel. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children ( 6 and 8 years old)so we had reserved a king room with a pull out couch. Upon check-in we were given a room with 2 double beds.. caught the wording and showed them our original booking. No problem we were given 2 adjoining queen rooms- perfect. We arrived early so we had all day at the water park and the rooms were ready. The kids needed a snack after a few hours of swimming so we went to the snack bar and bought 3 sodas and a pretzel with cheese for $10.00. That night we went out to dinner- plenty of restaurants nearby. Sat. morning we got up and had breakfast at the hotel, kids eat free. I think the adult buffets were $10.00 not too bad. We were allowed late check out- 12:30. We headed home in the afternoon but could have stayed until 10pm. We found the front desk extremely helpful as well as friendly. The life guards are no nonsense which was very reassuring. Yes at times you had to wait for a double tube but once we got one we just held onto it.

We will be returning.

4 of 5  Great Family Winter Getaway, A TripAdvisor Member, Central Illinois, February 18, 2008

Just returned from our annual President's Day Weekend trip to Holiday Inn North and Caribbean Cove Water Park. This trip is always the highlight of a long and cold Midwest Winter. Upon arrival, I checked in and was informed that some of the rules had changed. Although we checked in at 2pm (same as previous years) we had to wait until 4pm to access the water park. Only one of our two rooms booked was ready, so we all cramed into one room until the other one was done around 3:30pm. (Check in time is 4pm, so this wasn't that big of a deal.) The hotel is now selling water park passes to the public without renting a room, although the web site still says that the only way to access the water park is with reserving a room. The rooms were clean and tidy. We had to call maintence to replace the light above the bathroom sink, and to try and fix the sliding patio door (the door was really hard to open) and the toilet got clogged. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. There is always someone from housekeeping coming around the atrium area and water park picking up dirty towels and bringing out clean towels. The water park has a policy that all children that are not potty trained must wear swim diapers. I saw one child who I don't think was potty trained, without a swim diaper, only in training pants. A short time later, they had to close down the zero depth pool, because someone had lost some fecal matter in the water. Was it that baby with only the training pants on? That is what the swim diapers are for!! The kids were having fun in the water park, so we decided to eat dinner in the Cafe St. Paul restaurant in the hotel. We ate the dinner buffet. It was not very good. However the breakfast buffet the next morning was very good, and the food from the sports bar was very good. If you go to this hotel and are expecting peace and quiet, you will be disappointed. This hotel is noisy and full of kids. Overall, we had a very good experience again this year and will go back next February.

4 of 5  Great fun for the kids....no doubt!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Greenwood, July 14, 2007

We went to the hotel, to experience the Carribean Cove attraction ....my 6 year old loved seeing all the slides and pools when we showed him the brochures. He was very eager and got the $180 to go via gift certificate (pre-requested b day gift).. this is a great way to have a child this age make the big splash... yes the costs are over priced but as a true "fun for kids" idea the hotel scores very high!! The check in was short ( 5 mins on a Thurs) and check out a bit longer (12 mins on Fri am) but the rooms were clean & the noise not bad at all. The water park is tremendous fun for any kid.....my 3 year old was soaked from head to toe as well and loved being in the kiddie korner. My 6 year never had more fun... beats the zoo (after the 1st time there), the museums, the movies....etc. Only the state fair might equal the fun quotient Carribean Cove offered to all of us. The slides are absolutely over the top drenching excitement-- no let down!! Yes, 1 adult should be more water-eager and we did not buy any overpriced food sold there. We drove out, and ate for cheaper. The arcade was very impressive though another cost to bear and the lifeguard staff was hands down great!! The proximity of the rooms is ultra convenient & the quiter hot pools are a welcome break from all the rah-rah action of running up to the slides. I loved just floating around the wave-pool river....that was really enjoyable!! The fewer small children a parent decides to bring the better, I think--- but it's a no-miss "love ya, kid" reward or gift .The accomodations are very comfy.. yes its clean and friendly. Our family bought modest souvenirs & drove 30 mins to get there each way. We plan to go back--- family of 4-- in March after IRS season--- or unless it becomes a Christmas wish somehow!

4 of 5  Great time!!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, January 28, 2007

The waterpark is great for kids 12 and under. It was a nice time for the parents too. We got lucky and went overnight on a Sunday so it was really empty on Monday. The hotel room was nice. The restaurant, not so nice. It's worth leaving the hotel to eat. The arcade is nice and the snack bar wasn't overpriced.

4 of 5  Our family LOVED this place, A TripAdvisor Member, Osceola, Indiana, January 7, 2007

Our family decided to give this place a try, even after we read some of the negative reviews. I have to say we had a wonderful time. Quick check in, no lines for the water-slides, and a friendly staff.

The only thing that they could do to change the experience, would be to lower the prices on the food. Kids eat free with a paying adult. We paid almost $30 for 4 personal pan pizza, 2 orders of breadsticks, and 4 drinks. I do not see where any of that was free.

Our kids are begging to go again in 2007.

4 of 5  Worth it, A TripAdvisor Member, IN, November 14, 2006

I stayed there on 11/10/06 with four 10 year old girls having a birthday party. We had a king size bed and a sofa bed. The room also had a desk, chair, coffee table, dresser and spacious bathroom. There was room for all 5 of us. I reserved the room because of the Caribbean Cove Waterpark. However, I was pleasantly surprised with everything else the hotel offered. The hotel was sold out that night. Even so, the waterpark and holidome pool never felt too busy or overcrowded. I didn't experience any problems checking in or out. The girls enjoyed playing billiards (pool), ping pong, miniature golf (small course, but still entertained them), and foosball as well as swimming in the holidome area. A game of pool and foosball costs 50 cents each, not a big deal to me. The other games were complimentary. We were given KIDS EAT FREE coupons upon check in, so we all had pizza or breadsticks and a drink for $8.00 TOTAL on Friday night for a snack. Not too bad as far as I'm concerned. The Kids Club also offered a movie night that I observed younger kids enjoying outside of the pool area in the holidome. In the morning, the Kids Club offered free milk and donuts, and the hostess also provided us with a picture of the girls as a souvenir. The waterpark was fun for all of us. The slides were fun, the "lazy river" was enjoyable, and we had a blast shooting hoops in the pool w/basketball goals on tall wooden stilts. There is also a Chuck E. Cheese-like arcade on the 3rd floor of the waterpark. The girls were able to redeem their tickets for prizes there. All of the games I observed were 1-2 tokens like at all the other arcades I've been. For the entire experience, I spent approximately approximately $260.00 (I could have spent less, but I had fun giving the girls money in the arcade), and I was pleased with what a great time we had. The room was clean, the front desk was quick and efficient--even w/a packed house, no long lines for us. The staff was friendly and helpful. One thing to note, (which is not an issue for me at all, but I want to be thorough) I found were some of the male, teenage staff members at the prize desk by the arcade were more interested in talking to one another than initially waiting on the girls, but one of the male staff members stepped forward and took care of them w/o any attitude or problems. (I mean honestly, how many of us would want to work a prize desk at Chuck E Cheese or Caribbean Cove??). One thing to note is the lifeguards routinely have a drill (once in the evening and once at 1 PM the following day while we were there) in which they clear the pool and simulate a rescue. This took most people off guard at first, but I will admit if I had read the disclaimer upon walking into Caribbean Cove, I would have known it was coming. The only negative I did find was the side doors were unlocked as some other reviews mentioned. This is definitely a security concern, and the only reason I didn't rate the experience higher than a 4.. We didn't have any problems and I felt safe while staying there (and I was probably the only one walking in and out taking stuff to the car), but I would like to see at least a pad in which a room key could be swiped to gain entry into side doors like I've seen at most other large hotels I have stayed. Overall, it was a great time had by 4 very particular girls and a fairly well traveled mother.

4 of 5  Much improvement, A TripAdvisor Member, Grand Grapids, MI, August 23, 2005

I believe the manager must be reading these reviews. We stayed at this hotel one year ago and found the staff very rude. Our son really wanted to return since the opening of the Caribbean Cove. With much trepedation we did. The entire staff couldn't have been kinder or more professional. I can't believe the difference in attitude. The Caribbean Cove was a perfect treat for my 6 year old son who just completed two, two-week swimming sessions. The hotel rooms appear cleaner although they could still use some updating. I do recommend you eat elsewhere. There are plenty of great restaurants in Indianapolis which are very close to the hotel.

3 of 5  Day after Thanksgiving with family...not the best, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, December 5, 2008

We booked a king room with a fold out couch and when we arrived we were given a room with double beds. The meals were quite expensive even with the children eating free. The breakfast buffet was terrible. Our children are 2 and 6 and they were entertained but I do not think staying any longer than one night would of worked. The kiddie pool was quite cold.

For the price I would not recommend.

We will not be going back.

3 of 5  Just average - I probably won't be back., A TripAdvisor Member, Wisconsin, January 18, 2008

I stayed one night in October, 2007 while on business. There was some sort of Pepsi convention/business meetings going on during check-in, so the parking lot and lobby were packed. Still, check-in went smoothly.

Got a standard room on the first floor. This hallway apparently leads to the water park/pool area, so there was lots of noise to be heard in the room. Some drunk joker was even yelling out in the hallway at 3am and woke me up.

My room didn't have a TV remote, which was no big deal for one night. I called the desk to note it so I wouldn't get charged for it. Otherwise the room was OK, albeit small. However, I think there are better choices in the Indianapolis area for Holiday Inn travelers.

3 of 5  Not that great..., A TripAdvisor Member, Philadelphia, PA, December 23, 2007

I stayed here 3 weeknights for business. I had reserved a room on the "atrium level" which supposedly been remodeled, but was given a room on the 3rd floor. I didn't feel like complaining. While very clean, the room was pretty worn down. The toilet ran constantly, and the sprinkler in the bathroom was falling out of the ceiling. Noise wasn't a problem, and the place seemed pretty empty. The room was missing several "items" like a phone book, guest services guide, and a lamp for the table.

There are several on-site restaurants. I ate at the Italian place. Food was above average with good service. I didn't try the sports bar. By the looks of the menu, they don't have anything with less than 3,000 calories in it. A far better option than these two restaurants is to walk to the Texas Roadhouse across the street. The hotel had a decent breakfast buffet, although the value is questionable at $10-$11 per person.

Overall, I thought this was a little below the average of the Holiday Inn chain. There are a lot of other hotels in this area that are probably a better value.

3 of 5  Family Getaway, A TripAdvisor Member, Fishers, IN, October 23, 2007

We decided to stay close and try the waterpark for our fall break. We really loved it! Slides (3) were fast and the kids loved it that they went outside. Splash pool, play pool and lazy river were well done. We'd recommend it for toddlers to tweens. The lifeguards were very attentive and constantly patrolled all areas. There must have been at least 6 on duty at all times. They take 10 minute breaks on the odd hours. I didn't see many teens and suspect they'd get bored before long.

The hotel is showing its age, but the rooms are decent for the money. We comfortably slept five in our king w/ sleeper and port-a-crib. (8, 5, and 17 mos.) As with all hotels in this class, the bathroom is never large enough. But it was clean and the linens were above average. The staff were friendly.

The restaurants are mixed. The sports grill is surprisingly good with a nice menu of standards and upscale salads. (You're on vacation; get the onion rings!) The breakfast buffet is not worth the money- even considering the kids eat free. Didn't try the breakfst menu.

Our only complaint is the on-line booking through the chain website. We learned that a better deal can be obtained by calling the hotel directly. Also, while we did not have this problem, other guests were unaware that the waterpark is available only if you book that package.

3 of 5  It was decent, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, October 17, 2007

I was a little concerned by the other posts but overall the hotel was clean, the conference rooms were very adequate. I loved the coffees and teas provided for the attendees. The restaurants on site were helpful for those of us who did not want to leave. The rooms weren't fancy and very new but everything was clean. For one night and for business meetings it really is ideal. For an extended vacation the only bonus would be the water park.

3 of 5  It's okay, A TripAdvisor Member, Dayton, Ohio, September 17, 2007

Okay so I am not overly impressed with this hotel. It's just okay. When we arrived it was very busy but the front desk staff was quick and friendly. I went with my mother who is disabled and I had asked for a handicapped room that was smoking. We did get it and it was huge! But... there was no remote for the tv, there was no ash tray. There was an old glass of water in the mini-fridge. I called the front desk and they had the items brought up with a half hour or so. The hotel says they have in room games, yeah they do for $6.95 an hour. For the amount that we paid for the room you would think they could come down on the price a little. There was no in room menu for room service, no listings about area attractions. Okay so the water park, LOUD! My daughter is six and she had a ball but I was kind of bored. I agree with the other that said the lifeguards are not real friendly but they seem to know their jobs. Over all I would probably not stay here again but go to the Lodge place down by Kings Island.

3 of 5  Kids Loved It!, A TripAdvisor Member, Ft. Wayne, IN, March 30, 2007

My kids love this place. In order for adults to love it they need to look through their children's eyes. There is nothing spectacular about the Holiday Inn. It is what you would expect clean and well maintained. Food is definately very average and somewhat overpriced. Kids do eat free with an adult menu item. This was not always worth much especially in the waterpark. The rooms on the first and second floor face the hotel pool and hot tub. The pool closes at 11pm and you will be awake until then. The higher floor rooms have balconies overlooking this area but you don't have to listen to the running footsteps (thunder) all night. There was plenty of towels and the area was kept tidy. The waterpark was lots of fun. Even though it was packed, the lines went very quickly. Sometimes it was hard to find a tube when you wanted one, but if you just stuck it out you would eventually snag one. Again there was plenty of towels and the area was kept very clean. There are a number of life guards trolling around so it seemed very safe. The food court was a bit disappointing. If you wanted anything other than and already heated hot dog or pretzel (like a pizza or sub sandwich) the wait was 45 minutes or more!! Even though the park was jam packed there was only two people working in the food court at lunch.

My kids are 12 and 8. This may have been our last visit because they have kind of outgrown the pool area. The slides are always fun but there is only three of them.

If you can go during the week and get the lower rate this place is worth the visit.

3 of 5  Not bad for a Holiday Inn, Noisy, A TripAdvisor Member, Charlotte, NC, November 14, 2006

We booked a room at the Holiday Inn Select North at the Pyramids via Site59. It was part of a package, but our room bill showed we paid only $43 per night for the hotel. Certainly worth that, especially with the free breakfast buffet they gave us for joining the HI club, but this is not the greatest hotel on earth. Do not stay here on a weekend if you don't have/adore kids.

The lobby area was surprisingly nice, well decorated and themed in sort of a New Orleans street scene style. There are four restaurants here (!), which I would never expect at a Holiday Inn.

We had an executive level room facing the indoor pool area. The room itself was nice, large enough with a decent bathroom and excellent water pressure in the shower. The ceilings are unusually low, but this was not a big deal. The problem with this hotel - the atrium design of the hotel ensures that the kids playing and screaming in the pool area create tremendous amounts of noise. If you need quiet to sleep prior to 11pm, do not stay in an atrium-facing room. The attached water park has what is essentially a runway linking it to the indoor hotel pool, and there was constant activity there and on the elevators - dripping, rambunctious kiddos with run-of-the-house priveleges running wild all over the place. Fun for them.

The breakfast buffet was good for the price (free) and the sports bar had a decent beer list. Our final bill showed we were charged for our free breakfast (how, I don't know, since we never got a bill at the restaurant) and the desk clerk gave us a little attitude ("can you prove you had the free breakfast coupons?") but ultimately took the charge off our bill. The evening clerk made copies for us for free instead of sending us to Kinkos, which was nice. There is free internet in the lobby business center, which is supposed to be for 18yr olds and up, but there were plenty of kids checking out MySpace and whatever at all hours.

Overall, a decent hotel for the price, and seems ideal if you have a pack of kids to keep entertained. I can't speak to the cleanliness of the water park as others have mentioned, but the kids we saw seemed genuinely thrilled to be there. I would not want to stay here as a business person despite some of the perks (free internet, breakfast) because the water park is just too attractive to families.

3 of 5  Good spot for families with kids, A TripAdvisor Member, California, April 20, 2006

The Holiday Inn North Select Pyramids is a “good enough for what it’s for” kind of a place. With the extra special water park amenity it’s a good getaway for families with young children and maybe good for teens, but the novelty wears off quickly for them.

This is a solid Holiday Inn property. It delivers the quality one would expect for a HI: nice rooms and amenities but no extra special levels of service, hospitality, amenities or décor. There are four and five stories, depending where in the property you stay, and the hotel rooms are arranged in a horseshoe pattern around the original Holidome pool area. There are exterior rooms and interior rooms facing the pool. As far as I could tell the interior rooms are larger and have two double beds. “Larger” is a relative term. It was cozy for our family of two adults and two teenagers. The exterior rooms are smaller and only have room for a single king bed as well as a reclining easy chair and a desk. (There are a handful of outside corner rooms that are appear to be the biggest. I don’t know what kinds of beds are in these.) Clothing storage includes dressers and a small alcove for Bathrooms were clean with white tile floors, hair dryers with integrated night light and coffee makers. The bath towels were thick and absorbent. The mattresses were fair but one in our room seemed to be coming to the end of its serviceable life. The four rooms I saw had wired Internet access, which is free. Ethernet cables are available from the front desk. Wireless access is available in the lobby and the Holidome.

We stayed at this hotel for five days during the Easter break period. As you could guess there were lots of kids. Lots of kids. Children in bathing suits were all over the grounds despite the early spring weather: in the lobby, in the halls, and of course around the pool and water park. Appropriate to the season, there was lots of running in the hall, easily heard in our room, slamming doors and lots of loud talking the hall from both kids and parents. The ruckus quiets down quickly once the water park closes, which is 10 pm most days and 11 pm Friday and Saturday.

The Holidome is a largish atrium and offers an indoor pool, as you would expect, but also offers, apparently, a staffed kids’ program with crafts. Inquire with the hotel for more details. There are also pool tables, one foosball table, one ping pong table, available for use with a fee. Family-friendly food is immediately available in the Holidome, including local chain Noble Roman’s pizza. You can eat your pizza, ice cream and soda in front of a wide screen TV. (The interior rooms facing the pool are probably noisy when the pool is busy. The exception may be the ones way off in the corners, like we had. While our view was obstructed and the light was dim it was also much quieter. You have been warned.)

And now to the main attraction, Caribbean Cove, the indoor water park. It’s impressive, with three slides accessed from one interior platform. Kids climb stairs up three or four stories and choose one of three slides. One is large enough for innertubes (provided) – the other two slides are completely enclosed until you exit down below. There are three other pool areas with imaginative large interactive water spouts and fountains. The release I signed pledged me or another adult to supervise my children at all times, but several attentive lifeguards also staff the water park. Breaks are enforced every two hours. There is a third floor observation deck from which parents, relatives and others can see the park without paying for admission. There are a snack bar, a souvenir stand and a games arcade on that same observation deck. There’s also a souvenir stand on the first floor.

We paid $269, plus taxes, for our daily Caribbean Cove package. That included the room and five wrist bands granting us admission to the park. The write bands will grant you admission on the day you check in and also the next day up until 3 pm. Note, however, that check-out is 11 am. There are dressing rooms in Caribbean Cove, but I don’t know how extensive they are.

Was it worth it? Our younger, more innocent cousins would have played until they dropped. I think they played for a couple of hours on each of three days and played until they were exhausted. My older kids (16 and a worldly 13), however, had had plenty after two days, at about two hours each day. One can book part of a stay with the package and the rest of a stay without the package, as we did. We did have to do some silliness about checking out and checking back in when our rate changed.

Finding food is not a problem at this hotel. Besides the poolside options there are three other restaurants at different price levels in the hotel. Within walking distance are a popular Texas Roadhouse and a Ruby Tuesday. Across the busy expressway are a Chinese restaurant (pretty good by Indy standards) and Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel restaurants. And a half mile away are more fast food places. If you like to eat large there’s a Costco within that same half mile.

There are self-serve laundry facilities in the hotel. This consists of two stacked washer-dryer combos in an alcove off the second floor hallway. The washers are front-loading. While clean and effective, folding is a problem because there is no table or counter on which put your clean clothes.

As a place to stay, sleep and eat there are better, quieter and less expensive options in the north west and north east areas of Indianapolis. However, under the right situation a trip to the Holiday Inn Caribbean Cove might be just the ticket for a very memorable family weekend getaway.

3 of 5  Young Kids will Love it, A TripAdvisor Member, Indianapolis, IN, March 4, 2006

Took a friend to this hotel because of the Carribean Cove...she loves pools/water, and lives in Indiana, and her birthday is in March. The staff were very very friendly. We found plenty of food options..even healthy ones with salads and wraps. The water park had nice hot tubs and the play areas for the kids seemed a huge hit..even for us adults. The water slides will thrill the slightly older kids and adults. You can always opt for the quieter pool and hot tub in the Holidome section for a change of pace. The rooms are nice and clean...but BOY are they noisy. The kids no doubt wear themselves out at the water park and sleep like babies. For me, different story. The auto close doors slam shut with such force that my bed would vibrate. That meant every time a door opened and shut within 10 rooms of ours...my bed shook. You can hear every word said in the hall..which is filled constantly with happy, gleeful, running, squealing kids. It would finally be quiet by 12:30am...but then started again around 8am. I can see the appeal for young families, birthday parties, etc. But parents beware...sleep well before you go!

2 of 5  It was not one of the best experiences, A TripAdvisor Member, Illinois, February 9, 2009

I always like to give a hotel a second chance but I am beginning to think I could be wrong. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 9:00 pm. The parking lot was packed to the gils. Not many places to park at all. Direction were given to our room and we went and found a parking spot which of course was nowhere where we needed to be. After finding our room we went in to relax as it was almost bedtime. We attempted to turn on the TV using the remote control and it did not work. We even attempted to put in new batteries as my husband had some with him but it still did not work. This hotel has an indoor water park and the hotel attempts to advise folks that there is a "quiet time" between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. Well forget that - there were kids running up and down the hall at all hours. If you are looking for a good nights sleep forget about this place. The beds are as hard as rocks. Like sleeping on a cement slab and the windows are not insulated well and you can hear the traffic all night. I realize that this is an older hotel but they do need to make alot of upgrades. The only bright spot in our stay was the breakfast buffet. It was very good but the table that we sat at was so coated with syrup that every time you put your hand down on top or on the sides it stuck there. I very highly doubt that we will ever go back to this hotel.

2 of 5  Cold Water!, A TripAdvisor Member, Indiana, August 1, 2008

Our son (age 4) and daugher (age 7) love Great Wolf Lodge. We've been to the one in Mason, Ohio twice. Last winter my wife and I thought we'd try Caribbean Cove right here in Indiana. We were very, very disappointed. The rooms are adequate, and the breakfast is alright, but the reason we chose Holiday Inn - North at the Pyramids was for the water park. What a mistake. It's much, much smaller than Great Wolf Lodge, and that's OK, but the water was so COLD it was simply unbearable. After no more than 10 minuntes we left. Fortunately, we're familiar with Indianapolis so we could find other enjoyable things to do. (Indianapolis is a great city). Caribbean Cove however is a complete waste of time and space! Stay someplace without a "water park," and save the money!

2 of 5  overpriced and disappointing..., A TripAdvisor Member, Northern Illinois, April 3, 2008

We booked one night (midweek) waterpark package about one month in advance(2 adults, a 6 yr old and 5 yr old) The rate was around $269. It was "spring break" for us (Northern Illinois area), and expected it to be somewhat busy. We were hesitant after reading the previous reviews but, as it is one of only two waterpark "resorts" in Indiana, and close to our other destination, we thought we would try it. We knew we were in trouble when we saw the parking lot. VERY crowded. Checkin took about 20 min (lines). The lobby of the hotel is quite nice, I wish they would have spend more updating the rooms which I would rate only as adequate.

We got to the waterpark late afternoon and it was packed. Compared to other waterparks we have been to, it is small to mid sized. We spent most of the time at the kiddie area and pool w/ basketball hoops, and hot tubs (also busy) as it was so busy. You couldn't even get a tube to go down "lazy river" unless you wanted to walk back and forth, and hope that someone would finish while you were there. The lines for the waterslides snaked down the stairs (long). We found out later that the Indianapolis area was not on spring break until the following week. I can't even imagine what the place must be like then!!!!

Another problem, the smell of chlorine throughout the hallway and our room was overpowering in my opinion. You can imagine how strong it was in the park itself.

We ate at the Cafe St. Paul (buffet or ala carte -kids eat free). But that too, was barely average and overpriced.

I don't see us going back.....

2 of 5  Lower your Expectations to VERY LOW!, A TripAdvisor Member, Central Illinois, March 27, 2008

Bring your cow bell because the management will treat you like cattle! Don't waste the breath or emotion to complain if you reserved an upgraded pool side nonsmoking room on the first floor and they gave you a smoking room that overlooks the dumpster. The management simply doesn't care. The manager actually told me that I should contact Holiday Inn - Corporate about this problem, because he is just a franchisee, and why should the franchisee suffer as a result of what was in his opinion a "reservation error". I can assure you that there was not error in the reservation on our end. . . . My wife takes copious notes! You will be much happier if you consider your stay more along the lines of a camping trip! So, bring a big cooler of your own food and beverages of choice, avoid the restaurants if you can (try the mall at Keystone Crossing with Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's etc.), and be prepared for cold showers and no water pressure . . . all for about $300/night! As for the water park, it delivers as expected. It's a notch down from the Kalahari or Greywolf lodges, but it's slightly cheaper as well. So go for the kids and enjoy! Just don't expect much in the way of service or a smile. Think of this review while you are waiting in line to check in. I promise that you will be overcome with an uncontrolable urge to "Moo". Leave you expectations in your dresser at home, so you can save them for the inveitable trip to Disneyworld - that's where your memories will be made anyway!

2 of 5  Not so good, A TripAdvisor Member, Indianapolis, August 19, 2007

I would have to say that pretty much what you have read would be true. The waterpark was fun. My six year old had a great deal of fun, and although the lifeguards were less than friendly they were professional and I never felt I couldn't take my eyes off my son. All in all, not bad. Not Kings Island though.

As for the hotel itself? Absolutely awful. Service was horrible. Our bathroom needed to be recleaned (which I called about and they never did), the furniture was missing pieces, there were fruit flies in the bathroom (never did figure that out) and when we requested extra pillows they never came. I would have to say that you would be better off staying at a lower priced, but cleaner hotel and going to an outdoor waterpark also in Indy. Or just go to Kings Island.

2 of 5  Pretty Bad ..., A TripAdvisor Member, Lansing, Michigan, June 8, 2007

The water park is a mini-version of Great Wolf Lodge. It's fun for small children (10 or younger) but it's not an all day affair. The room rates seem high for the size of the park. The actual water park is clean and there are plenty of lifeguards.

The rooms were just okay, not very clean. Service is horrendous. Everyone is apathetic, no one is helpful and none of the employees are knowledgeable about the rest of the hotel. They are in desperate need of a competent food service manager. Don’t even attempt eating at any of the restaurants. Room service was just as bad.

The hotel has potential, it just needs better management.

2 of 5  Rundown rooms, rude lifeguards, A TripAdvisor Member, Fort Wayne, IN, January 29, 2007

The rooms were rundown. In the bathroom the tile was cracked and missing in some places. The ceiling tile was moldy. There was dried finger nail polish still on the bathroom counter. The wallpaper was peeling in the room. The windows actually had ice forming on the INSIDE of the glass. We could feel cold air coming through while laying in the bed. The waterpark itself was nice. The different pools are great for kids. The lifeguards were rude and not very friendly. They were mostly high school and college kids. I think they should charge less for the rooms if they are going to keep them in poor condition.

2 of 5  Not up to par, A TripAdvisor Member, Indy, USA, November 13, 2006

We took our 7 year old for his birthday in lew of an actual party with tons of kids. We had his 6 year old friend, our 4 and 9 years old also. Stood in line for check in from 4pm to 4:30pm. They need to do that a little better. Front desk gave me my request, for a top floor holidome balcony room. I was told the room was freshly renovated the month before. They also gave me several coupons for free kids meals at all of their restaurants and snack bars, provided one adult meal is purchased. We went up to the room, changed into our suits for the waterpark. We enjoyed the waterpark for about two hours before we stopped for dinner. We ate at Cafe St. Paul's dinner buffet. Two adults were $12 total. All of the kids ate free. About an hour after dinner, our 9 year old got very ill. He threw up all over the bathroom. He ate a dessert cheescake that the rest of us did not eat. He spent 2 hours puking, then he was fine. I called the front desk at 9:30pm to ask for housekeeping to come and clean up the mess. No one answered. I left my spouse with the kids, went all the way down to the front desk to tell them what happened. The woman said she would give housekeeping a call. She also offered to switch us to a different room for the night. I went back to the room, and started packing. The other 3 children were asleep at this point. The housekeeping man showed up shocked that no one told him what he was cleaning up. He left and said he would be back. He came back, did an okay job cleaning. He never even replaced the shower curtain. Really gross.

I went back down to the front desk to get a luggage cart and our new room keys. A different lady was at the front desk. She was very rude in her manner and out right told me that there were no rooms to give out, that they were sold out. She scolded the employee who told me that before, in front of me and other staff people. We had to leave our room door and balcony door open for another 2 hours to air out the air freshner smell.

Husband took 9 year old home....then to doctor the next morning. Food poisoning was confirmed. Myself and the other 3 played in the water park most of the morning, then had lunch and went home.

Our newly remodeled room was a dirty mess. There were sticky finger prints on the mirrors and doors. There were gummy bears all over the carpet, stains on one of the bedsheets. The bathroom could use a string pulley to hang wet bathing suits over the tub. When the bill was placed under our door at 4am, the person knocked waking us up! Someone had also charged a $40 meal to our room. It took 30 minutes of arguing on the room phone with the hotel operator that it was not us. She finally removed the charge, but was unhappy that we didn't want to pay for someone else's meal.

Next time I think we'll give into Chuck E Cheese's instead. I think that's actually cleaner than this place was.

2 of 5  Overpriced and chaotic, A TripAdvisor Member, Columbus, Ohio, March 22, 2006

I just came back from a Saturday overnight stay at the Holiday Inn/Caribbean Cove in Indianapolis. I can say it actually pains me about the money it cost and the time (and gas money)spent getting there for the overall experience we had. We started off on a bad note because a customer service person working at the Reservation center neglected to say they charge you the entire amount at the time of making the reservation. My sister thought she was simply reserving four rooms with her credit card number and we would all pay directly when we arrived (This was over a month prior to the stay) She was shocked to find they charged her card the entire amount and left her in a dire situation because she was only a few dollars shy from hitting her credit limit. The rooms were $286.00 per night with the entry to the Water Room. (Meaning they charged her $1,144 without telling her and over a month prior to our stay!) This was the least expensive rate we could find because of "so-called" Spring Break. When I called to complain, they said their policy guidelines were displayed on the internet. (The only problem is we chose not to go through the internet to make the reservations) The lady I spoke with said it was a common problem, and had we called the hotel directly...that wouldn't have happened as we would have been notified of this policy. (Again, how would we know that?) She said she could refund the money and charge us all seperately, but it would take around 14 days for the refund to go through on my sister's credit card. (And of course, our cards would be charged immediately!) Anyway, when we arrived around noon for our stay, there was a line at least 20 people long trying to check in. They had no rooms ready, but said we could put our bags in their baggage room and head to the water"park". They said to keep checking back about a room coming available. Very unfriendly people at the front desk, though the bellman was quite nice. (But in all fairness, they were probably just flustered over the disorganization) We then went to this small, dirty locker room to change. I couldn't believe for what we paid, this is where they made people change. No privacy at all, dirty carpet, and lockers that charged 50 cents each time you needed to re-open and close it. It was crammed with women and children all trying to get into their bathing suits in a room about 8'x 6'. In addition. restrooms (with two stalls for all of these people) were in a totally seperate area in the hotel atrium. We then went into the waterpark room and it was packed with people. There were super long lines to go down the tubes, and even to get an intertube to go on their "Lazy River." Unfortuantly for me, the only good area for my three year old had really cold water. Once she got a feel for the warm water in the other areas that were deeper, she wanted nothing to do with the cold water area that was supposed to be for her age group. In fact, she liked the pool and jaccuzi in the regular hotel best of all. We finally got our rooms, which were mediocre at best. They were not cleaned well with crumbs all over the floor. In the atrium area below, it was crazy with all of the empty pizza boxes and birthday cake boxes all over the tables. The Jacuzzi had litter and a half eaten Oreo cookie on the floor. I noticed the next day, it was still there. It made me wonder who, if anyone, maintains the pool and Jaccuzi. I didn't even consider the restaurants in this hotel because of the other reviews, but other family members did have breakfast buffet there, and verified the food was just okay. The word must be out because the first three chain restaurants on the street by the hotel had waits over an hour long. By the time we hit the fourth one, there was no wait. In addition, the elevator was so slow I rarely used it. It was just so much quicker to walk three flights in the smelly stairwell. In all fairness, I do realize now this place is just not my idea of "fun" , but many other people seem to enjoy this type of get-away. I had never been to one of these hotel-water "parks" before, so I didn't know what to expect. The bottom line is it was probably just too crowded at the time we chose to go there. If it would have been less expensive, I don't think I would have minded it so much. It just seemed to be a real "down-scale" experience for a moderately "upscale" pricetag. I also have a real problem with them charging you the total cost when you make your reservation. I just kept thinking of all the so many nicer places we could have been staying for the money.

1 of 5  Rip Off, A TripAdvisor Member, Indianapolis, IN, September 1, 2008

Unbelievable horrible experience at this hotel for my daughter’s 10th bday…when I called reservations I secured a ground room floor for easy access to and from the pool. The day I checked in after waiting 30 minutes in a sea of parents and children at 4PM (yep can’t check in until 4P and check out is 11AM next day) I was given my plastic key. It didn’t work. I inquired with a maid and she happily let me into the room I wasn’t supposed to be in on the ground floor which I booked. Instead, I found out I was four floors up from that location. Irritated, I didn’t complain about the change of rooms; however, I did purchase 3 additional swimming wrist bands @ $20 each. Not 20 minutes after checking in, I found out that the 3 additional guests weren’t coming, thus inquired about a reimbursement for the unused swim wrist bands. I was told there is a strict no refund and perhaps I should try to SELL them in the lobby of people who are waiting to check in to their rooms. (Scalping wrist bands I inquired?) I asked to speak to the manager, but to no avail. I was put on hold and returned to the same clerk with the same answer. My children; however, did have fun swimming, but pictures from the web made Caribbean Cove look huge, but is much smaller than it looks. The locker room REEKED of urine. The rooms are small. For an overnight stay with 5 swim wrist bands I paid $364. I NEVER write reviews, but felt compelled to let others know about this. Yes, I did speak to the front desk the next day. I was reimbursed for the wrist bands. My recommendation for a run-down, hyped-up swim excursion is don’t waste your time or money.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Let's just say I didn't even make it there. I reserved the room a month prior to my one night stay. When I called to reserve, I asked many questions to make sure I had my facts straight about the room and waterpark. I asked if I was able to use the waterpark if I arrived early before my check-in time of 4pm. I was informed by one of their staff that this would be perfectly ok. I called the night before to confirm my reservation and asked again if it would be ok to use the park if I arrived early and the lady at the desk told me no. She informed me that I was not able to use the park until 4pm at the time of my check-in. Now this upset me because the only reason I had booked the hotel was because of the waterpark's all day use. I was also traveling from 3 HOURS AWAY to celebrate my anniversary at this waterpark. Since it was my anniversary I had planned to go to dinner. So between check-in, waterpark, showers, and dinner, I was paying $230 to use the park for a grand total of 3 hours.

I called the Guest Relations number (A.K.A Corporate) and they informed me that there was nothing that they could do and that it was up to the hotel itself. Very upset by this, I called the hotel back and I talked to several people in charge and all of them were very rude and not accomidating. Not one person would do anything to help me! I couldn't belive it! I even asked if they could just send a credit to another branch closer to my home and they refused.

After talking to a very nice lady at a branch close to my home, she recommeneded to call my credit card company and dispute the charge. I did this and the results are pending. I will never stay at another Holiday Inn.

Please do not go through all of this trouble for a romantic night away...stay at home!!!

1 of 5  My horriable vacation at the Cove, A TripAdvisor Member, flint, July 29, 2007

I had a horribe experience at Caribbean Cove. First check in is a 4:00 pm. After getting to my room. I had to request that the maid reclean my bathroom. There was a ring around the tub and mold on the wall. The floors were dirty and there were piles of dust on the floor around the door. There was a trail of dirt around the drop ceiling tile and two of my wash towels had stains. My children took a shower with their aqua shoes on!

My son misplaced his glasses by the pool and they were never recovered. ($133.00 down the drain).

During the night some pranksters called my room using profainty at 2:30 am. And to top that off my spouse caught some skin rash after being there.

I will NEVER RETURN!!!!!!!!!!!! It's OVER Priced and not as fun as it looks. I will stick to the Kalahari in Sandusky Ohio!

1 of 5  Never stay here, A TripAdvisor Member, kentucky, April 15, 2007

This is the worst hotel my family and I have ever not stayed. I booked it for 199.00 for four during our spring break. My two boys, ages 7 and 4 were so excited to go to a hotel with such a cool sounding water park attached. To make a very long story short. We arrived at 4:00 checked in after waiting in a rather long line. When our room finally became ready we were greated at the door with several hotel employees coming out of our room with heavy cleaning equipment, like something really bad had happened in our room. When we asked what was wrong they just looked at us, gave strange looks to one another and left. It was like we suprised them or something. I can't say enough about our dirty room. It was so gross that I never

let my feet touch the floor without shoes on. The water park was also

very dirty. To top it off, we were in the water for maybe 20 min and the staff decided to do a 45 min rescue drill in the middle of our time. They were rude about getting everyone out of the water and we stood there cold. We could only tolerate six rides down the slide before the grossness of the place got to us. We went back to the room, changed clothes and went to dinner hoping things would improve.

Horrible food-don't waste your time or money. We went back to the room, took one more look around and decided we just could not sleep there. We checked out at 8:00 and drove three hours home to take a shower before bed. My husband called the management, but has yet to receive a phone call back. That was three days ago. Please do not stay at this place, it was a very bad experience for us and I can't imagine how anyone could say this was a clean place.

1 of 5  Not Good, A TripAdvisor Member, Penn, April 12, 2007

We had planned to stay two nights, but after arriving, I cancelled the second night. It was so crowded it was ridiculous. Our room was so tiny and the toilet didn't work. It says the water park is only available to guests, yet the hotel is rented out to private parties, so we had a barrage of people in the pool and holidome area, I felt uncomfortable letting my children in the pool. It was complete chaos! The loud music, it didn't stop until after 11pm. The waterpark was ok, same though, very crowded and lots of rowdy kids with no supervision. It is not as great as the website makes it look. It is such a huge hotel, and they try to cram as many people in as possible, and the pool could not be any smaller for a hotel of this size.

We will not return.

1 of 5  No Hot Water to Shower after swimming, A TripAdvisor Member, Indianapolis, January 24, 2007

We swam most of the afternoon at Carribean Cove. We went to our room to shower, relax and have dinner. There was NO HOT water.

We were moved to three rooms with the promise of hot water. The water was FREEZING in all three rooms. Our family drove home that evening smelling of CHLORINE, hungry, tired and very disappointed.

1 of 5  Rude staff ruins the experience, A TripAdvisor Member, Columbus, IN, January 23, 2007

The hotel was fine, no problems there. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were okay, but not the best. So as for as the hotel, it was acceptable.

The waterpark, however was another story. The staff, once you entered the area were downright surly. My wife and I both noticed our first evening that not one single staffer smiled the whole time we were there. It made it feel as if we were being watched by vultures and it really did detract from the experience. Having mentioned it that night we determined to see if it was true the next day. 4 hours later, not a single smile, even when we tried speaking to them and got one word replies.

This place is supposed to be fun. It wasn't. I would not recommend this to anyone.

1 of 5  Don't Stay Here!!, A TripAdvisor Member, Illinois, May 24, 2006

We were at this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days. Our first day there, the pools were closed off and on because the people were finding feces in the pool. This explained the foul odor in the waterpark. The bathrooms were dirty and smelly as well. On our second day there, I was preparing to discreetly nurse my 8 month old baby when the head lifeguard proceeded to tell me I needed to do this in the bathroom!! My comment to her was "I don't eat in the bathroom so I don't expect my child to eat in the bathroom." I asked what the problem was and was told by the manager above her that it might make other guests "uncomfortable". Not my idea of a "family friendly" establishment. I definately would not recommend this place to families and especially to nursing mothers!

As for the hotel, the food selection for the "kids eat free" consisted of either a small pizza or breadsticks with sauce. Not my idea of a good meal for 4 days. We also came back to our room one day with a note from the maid that she ran out of face towels and we needed to call housekeeping to get some more. Isn't that what she is for?!

Needless to say, we won't be returning. I will be writing a letter to corporate office about the discrimination to breastfeeding mothers and wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The ONLY reason to go there is the carribean cove and it is not up to par with cleanliness no wonder my CHILD GOT THE PINK EYE

Service(front desk) is SLOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW with long lines

They have more general managers on site then they have people working at the front desk

It needs an overhaul in worn out decoration

Needs to be cleaner for sure

Kids eat free= cheaper to eat at someplace outside the hotel for GOOD food selections

especially when the place is NOT clean

I would suggest a visit from the BOARD OF HEALTH soon

Maybe they would look under the beds and find 2 inches of dust and dirt,EWWWWWW

Do not stay there if you have allergies!

1 of 5  Carribean Cove WaterPark- Do not Recommend!, A TripAdvisor Member, Mackinaw, IL, April 17, 2006

Let's just say I would not recommend this water park to anyone. Service both on the 800 line and at the hotel reservation line was not friendly.

The water park was dirty, discarded band aids, muddy puddles in the women's locker room and toilet paper strewn around everywhere. The worst was the smelly water through out the park. Our skin and swim suits reeked of water that did not have enough chlorine or chemicals in the water. The young life- guards need a class on being friendly and customer service. They portrayed attitudes and frowned like they were the most unhappy people around! Those whistles they had blew over the most ridiculous little things that I have ever seen. I really think some kids were afraid of them! (By the way I am not talking about my kids being yelled or whistled at, this is what I observed while watching my 3 year old shiver in the freezing water of the kiddie play area)

Whomever manages this park better get into action and make some changes, before all his business in GONE.

1 of 5  Overpriced hotel + unfriendly staff + dirty water park = BAD, A TripAdvisor Member, Washington, Illinois, April 16, 2006

We just got back from a 3 day / 2 night stay. I'll break the review into two parts; Water Park & Hotel.

Water Park – Floor pools were dirty and had objects floating on the bottom, such as, wadded up Kleenex. Long lines for the slides; there was only one life guard playing traffic cop at the top of the slides hence the back-up of people and long lines. The hot tubs are grimy and foul. Water had a salty overtone to it. Overall, the pools are/were polluted and did not have that pool chlorine smell or taste to them. On the plus side, there are a variety of water activities for all ages and plenty of life guards on duty. If you must, I would spend no more then one day at this place, just be cautious.

Hotel – Although the hotel is claiming to be renovated, it is very slumber worn and fraying at the edges. Items such as, cracked tiles, small bathrooms, low ceilings, worn carpet, thin & tattered towels, and little things like closet doors not closing. The staff at check-in are not friendly or helpful. One of the ladies was wearing a "do-rag" – hardly knew she worked there other then she barked "Next!" with out looking up at the exhausted travelers in a comatose from the long wait times at check-in. This is just the tip of the iceberg about the hotel. Email me if you want more details.

Bottom line for the water park & hotel is that there are better ways for you to part with your hard earned money. I regret that I spent mine with Holiday Inn.

1 of 5  Early disappointment, A TripAdvisor Member, rantoul, IL, January 12, 2006

We haven't even made our trip yet and I am disappointed. I checked my credit card bill to find that I have been charged twice what I was quoted for the room rental. Talking with their reservation manager was pointless, the "good" news is that if I cancel before 6:00 I may not lose any money. Who's going to tell all the kids their holiday is over?

Other than the waterpark, there is nothing special about this hotel. I have stayed at better hotels for less money. The staff was mediocre and unfriendly. The bathroom had issues. When taking a shower, the water turned cold for a couple of minutes, most likely due to another room's facilities being used. The ceilings, not only in the bathroom, but other areas of the hotel are very low. I don't believe anyone over 6'5" would be comfortable. My husband is 6'2" and had to stoop to use the bathroom mirror. We booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child and there were only 2 bath towels supplied.

The elevators were very slow and at least one was out of order.

I would definitely not recommend eating at the hotel. The food was over priced for the quality. Again, the food was mediocre and bland. The vegetable du jour was cold on the plate. It also had been soaking in its bath of water and butter for some time and was very soggy.

We purchased the Carribean Cove Waterpark package. For what the package costs, it claims that children eat free, but the caveat is that an adult must purchase an entree, so even at the Calypso Cafe inside the waterpark, you cannot get the kids meal free without ordering something yourself. Again, the food was nothing special and was overpriced. For the price of this package, you would at least expect a complimentary continental breakfast, but that is not the case. The breakfast buffet is over $10 per adult with everything else (i.e. coffee, orange juice, etc.) a la carte. Our breakfast for 2 people even with the free kids meal came to over $30.

You would be better off spending your money to take your children to a separate amusement facility and get a better hotel.
