We stayed at the Comfort Inn West on Saturday, April 19, 2008. We had 4 people in our party and the room rate for a large room with microwave, refrigerator and 2 queen beds was a total of $111.88 including taxes. - Hotel was very clean and neat - Staff was friendly - Free wireless internet, also computer in the main lobby for guests - Rooms were very, very nice. I think they renovated recently. - Coffee, hairdryers in room - This large room had a microwave, refrigerator, sink and very large bathroom. - Nice pool and hot tub (I did not use though). - Excellent continental breakfast. Staff was working really hard and it was fully stocked. There was cold cereal, coffee, juices, hot chocolate, muffins, bagels, bread, cinnamon swirl bread, make your own waffles, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit etc. - Right near Interstate 35, so it's easy to get anywhere quickly. Thanks for reading my post! We stayed at this hotel for one night on a Saturday while moving our son to the University of MN for this year. We have stayed in numerous hotels in Duluth and usually stay near the lake but there was nothing available at the last minute so we thought we'd give it a try. This hotel is located in an industrial area about 3 miles from the downtown. The staff was extremely friendly. The entire hotel from the lobby to the rooms to the pool area was immaculate. The pictures on this website are out of date and do not reflect the condition of this hotel. Everything was very new and up to date. The breakfast was well presented and offered a nice assortment of food including eggs and belgian waffles. We will be making quite a few trips in the upcoming months to Duluth and will be staying at this hotel when we don't want or need a lake view! We stayed at the Comfort Inn the night of July 4. We were very impressed with this motel. The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Even though it was a busy holiday, the staff still took time to give us personal attention. The motel is located away from the harbor, but since Duluth is not a large city, it only took minutes to drive anywhere we wanted to go. The free breakfast in the morning was also very good. I would highly recommend this motel. The room has a huge bathroom with an oh so wonderful shower head that sprays a great stream of water! The hotel as a whole is in A-one condition. The bed was so comfortable to sleep in, not too hard or soft . I would have given the hotel an excellent rating if it wasn't for the exit ramp off the hwy right outside our window. There's a Perkins restaurant nearby that draws alot of logging trucks that are quite noisy. Downtown Duluth is a must see for tourists, the city is so alive at night. Great restaurants and shopping galore. My family stayed at this hotel three nights and I would recommend it . The rooms were clean and the service was good. The staff was helpful and knowlegeable about the Duluth area. The pool was very clean and well kept. The continental breakfast was good and well stocked. We debated whether to stay at this location or pay the up charge to stay at a place right on the lake. I was glad we saved the money and made this choice. You can hop in your car and visit all the key tourist spots in a few minutes. We stayed here one night between Door County Wisconsin and the North Shore. Hotel looked brand new, but I was told it was over 20 years old. Hotel has a large indoor pool and hot tub. We also used the convenient laundry facilities. Location is outside the usual tourist spots, but we were heading up the North Shore the next day, so it was fine with us. Room was large enough for two parents, two teenagers and an air mattress for one of the kids to sleep on. Very quiet with large bathroom. The only thing we didn't like was the lack of an elevator. Much nicer than I was expecting, big clean rooms, seating areas outside the pool, a nice breakfast buffet with a good variety. The views aren't so great as it's right next to the interstate, nor is it located as convenient as some of the hotels in Duluth, but definately worth the money. We stayed at the Comfort Inn and it was so much better than I expected. We had stayed at the Travelodge a few weeks ago and the prices were about the same so I was expecting just bare necesities. The room was very big w/two queens and a sofa bed and two t.v's w/a mini fridge and a microwave. The pool and spa are was very nice. The free continental breakfast was the best I've had in any hotel. You could make your own belgian waffle, they had cereal, oatmeal, toast, muffins, donuts, and assortment of juices and a cappucino machine. Best of all, we had skied the night before so when we checked out and showed the clerk our lift ticket we got 20% off our bill. Would definately stay again. My family and I have had the pleasure of staying in Duluth at least a half dozen times this past year. We initially selected the Comfort Inn strictly by chance. I haven't considered staying anywhere else since. The staff has always been friendly and have gone out of their way to show their appreciation for our return business. It would be nice if the motel were located a little closer to Duluth's Canal Park area, (the major restaurant district and entertainment district), but it's only a couple minutes away via the freeway. We stayed at the comfort inn duluth for a weekend hockey tournament with the rest of our team. The price was right (around $80/night) and it was close to the arena. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was great. The pool had WAY to much chlorine in it, when you walked into the pool room, your eyes would burn. When the kids swam for a short time, they had red skin and eyes. They told us at check in that the lobby areas closed at 10pm....they were VERY strict about this. They kicked the adults out of all areas of the hotel, except for our rooms every night at EXACTLY 10pm. OK hotel, but would like an area for adults to sit after 10pm. | ||||

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were furnished very nicely. My only complaint is that the walls were paper thin. We were left up all night long from the sounds of the cars driving by and the people above up walking around. If you are looking for a good nights sleep I wouldn't recommend this hotel which is why I will never stay here again. The room was nicer than expected - and noisier than expected. Upon checking in, I asked for a quiet room away from the street. We were assigned a very spacious room on the second floor. It was very clean, comfortable and reasonably attractive. It smelled a little stuffy when we checked in, but we were able to air it out when we opened the windows. The big problem came at night when we tried to sleep with the windows open. Even though we were on the non-highway side, it sounded like we were in the middle of a drag-racing track - all night long. This was more than your typical road noise. The bumps, clanks and VROOMS were enough to wake us up from a sound sleep several times. At 3AM we joked with one another that maybe mufflers are illegal in Duluth. I suppose if you stay here during the winter, keep the windows closed and ask for a room away from the highway AND the main street, you might find this inn a good value. We didn't get a good night's sleep and won't be back. First of all, the beds were very fun to jump on. And the pool was a little cold., but good size. The hallway to our room smelled of burning cigarrettes. They had Belgium Waffles for Breakfast that were excellent! For months my fiancee and I have planned a get away. We both are employed in the duluth area. He is blind, and called several times to hotel to find out information, we heard that we could get a room with a hot tub for $89 plus tax. When we got there we were told without a major credit card, we could not give a local check. So back home we went to get his card. But we managed to get the cash instead. So again on return the manager ( only made our unpleasnt situation more unpleasant by her attitude) informed us we needed the license plate # to sign, so out side I go to get the # of my plate, which I couldn't write out the pen went through the paper. Finally we get our room. And our first plan was to relax and forget it all in the hot tub. I filled it up got unpacked. And let Bob know where everything was in the room, remember I mentioned he is blind. And got into the hot tub, only second later it turned off and would not come back on. We called the desk and the gentleman came to the room. He could not start it either, and suggested another room. (He was very nice, but still it's not to relaxing to have to move again) So once again we packed up, which was another inconveince to us and go to our second room next door. #104 which did work. Only opposite of the last room, I showed Bob again where things where. But the frustration of all of this was to much. I suggest that in the future you give out information, such as cash or a major credit card. And my fiancee did call at least 4 times. WHY? didn't they say something then? Also that you need the license plate # Our intentions were to spend two evening. We left after one. As for returning we have to think about it. After all it was your mistake not to give out important information, needed to register in your Comfort Inn Duluth, 3900 West Superior St. and your problem not checking the hot tub before people take the room.
